by allegations of rampant sexual abuse is shutting down. why the feds are closing it, after years of trying to change the culture. here is a live look at the san mateo county courthouse. moments from now scott peterson is set to appear buys him for his first motion hearing. in his new his bid for a retrial. the only innocence project recently took up his case more than 20 years after peterson was convicted of murdering his wife lacey and their unborn son. the project is saying some key evidence was ignored. they filed motions to receive sealed court records, a dna test and other evidence gathered in the case. the hearing gets underway at 9:00 a.m. part of the new revelations was brought up by a former investigator who responded to a crime very close to scott and lacey peterson's home, the day after lacey disappeared. the private investigator , working for the modesto fire department over 20 years ago, was sent to investigate a van fire. the van and what was recovered from

it is a main focus today. in court documents from attorney say only a small portion of the states that tested positive for blood were tested for dna. it was insufficient to determine whether it came from lacey or her unborn son. that started to keep him up at night , but no one was talking about the van , or if the blood belonged to lacey. >> it does mean something and it is significant . to be fair, this was not brought up in court and if it is relevant, i would want somebody to say something about it. >> in court filing, the only innocence project alleges that police systemically ignored evidence that did not support their theory of peterson's guilt. that includes refusal to investigate who set the van on fire. now for a look across the bay this morning. i am wishing you a happy tuesday. it will be gorgeous. you may not be able to tell from this live look at

normal this morning. a major reversal from what we saw yesterday during the peak of rush-hour. you may have even been caught up in this. hundreds of protesters shut down these major bay area arteries. this was to draw attention to the war in gaza. some even using chains and barrels filled with concrete to block the road. we asked one processor about their message. >> they want to say they are condemning what is happening and what israel is doing and saying they want israel to be nicer and kill you are civilians at the same time they are giving them bombs and money. >> the shutdowns lasted into the early afternoon before chp got the lanes reopened. some of you were in your vehicles for more than four hours. >> at the beginning i was kind of afraid. i was afraid for my life. >> this is not fair for a lot of people that are going to work. they are trying to make some money, and look what happened.

>> the chp had their attention on 880, another group took over the golden gate bridge. the highway patrol said they thought something like this might happen but did not know specific plans protest organizers were very clear that this action was not the last. a spokesperson told us what is expected to come next. >> we will keep pushing until people pay attention. we know from our history that people's actions work and they will not listen to us unless we hit them where it hurts which is in the economic region. as the hours dragged on, people had no choice but to wait it out. although some were sympathetic to the protesters actions, some were also frustrated. >> yes, it is an inconvenience , but it is inconvenient to be a human being in gaza. >> when you have this level of the disruption to our whole transportation system , i think we need to draw the line. >> chp says they arrested 26

protesters at the bridge demonstration. four cars were impounded. those arrested are facing multiple charges, including unlawful assembly. it was not just the bay area either. we saw protests all over the country like at seattle's airport , the brooklyn bridge in new york, and it chicago. a protest outside of o'hare forced travelers to get out of their cars and walk just to make it inside. as for the cause of the protesters and what they are focused on, there are reports the israeli military is delaying his planned ground invasion into the southern gaza city of rafah. an estimated 1.4 million palestinian civilians are sheltered their . after fleeing the fighting elsewhere. we brought you continuing live coverage of the protests shut down throughout the morning on air and streaming on cbs news bay area . we also have continuing coverage on our website at kpix.com. the troubled federal women's prison in dublin that is been rocked by sexual abuse , a scandal, is now shutting

down. it comes after a court-appointed special master arrived at dublin to oversee reforms. you see the prison. it was known among inmateand workers as the 'rape club' because of allegations of rampant abuse. len ramirez reports hundreds of inmates could be moved out of the prison in a matter of days. up a blockade where visitors usually drive >> reporter: it was not business as usual at the federal correctional institution in dublin. guards set up a blockade were visitors usually drive into the facility and prison buses could be seen moving into parking lots and driveways, although no inmates of appeared to board the buses, just yet. >> we were notified today that the prison is going to be closed by the bureau of prisons. and we did not have any sort of notification prior to this morning. >> reporter: she is an attorney with rights behind bars , an

advocacy group the represents inmates into the prison over numerous sexual abuse and civil rights violations. she said the shutdown came as a surprise, just days after a court-appointed special master came in last week. all 600 inmates could be moved to other facilities by friday. >> their recognition of the fact that they cannot meet constitutional requirements now , and find the solution disclosure, is very telling. maybe that is the best step. >> reporter: last month the fbi searched the prison as a part of the years long investigation into sexual abuse by inmates by guards. since 2021, at least eight prison personnel have been charged with abuse, five pled guilty, two were convicted , and another is pending. also pending a 50 civil rights cases. >> people were subject to forcible sexual assault by officers . were subject to officers forcing them to conduct strip shows at the facility. and they would do things like that, using their

methods of power so , saying they will issue a disciplinary order if they don't do these sexual acts . >> reporter: it is not yet known of the shutdown is temporary or permanent. inmates and their families are concerned about where they will be sent next, to serve out their sentences. she had some nonviolent offenders can be credited and have their sentences reduced. >> we hope that the bop can take meaningful steps to release people and make sure that they are not further harm throughout this whole process. >> the prison employs just over 200 people who could be forced to relocate to keep their jobs. fci dublin is one of six women only federal prisons and the only one west of the rocky mountains. last year a former warden of the prison was convicted of sexually assaulting multiple women and lying to the fbi. he was sentenced to 70 months in prison. it was a dream come true for so many women. it was one

judge is currently in the jury selection process for former president donald trump's criminal trial. trump is in the courtroom now and no jurors were selected yesterday on the first day of the trial. once 18 jurors made it through the first round of questioning, lawyers have half an hour to question them. trump is accused of falsifying business records in an effort to prevent an alleged affair with former adult film star stormy daniels. for making news before the 2016 election. he faces 34 felony counts in the case. let's get a check on what is happening around the bay. happening today, sfmta will be voting on proposed speed camera locations throughout the city. this map shows the potential 33 spots in san francisco that could get the new technology by 2025. these cameras are located near schools, senior centers, and along the cities so-called high injury network. the distribution of the cameras as
