president is retiring after making promises to pro palestinian protesters earlier this week. president mike lee sent out an email announcing deal with pro palestinian protesters on campus. without approval, according to the cal state university chancellor now wednesday, lee was placed on administrative leave by csu for insubordination boycott of academic and research institutions. sponsored by israel and calling for a permanent cease fire in gaza. lee later said the email was sent without the approval of any cal state system. leaders, but he continues to support students listen to the reaction from his former student body. yeah. i like mike lee. i wanted to stay feel like he was supporting the students. and was actually pushing for a change in the way the system works and helping palestine in the best way that we can, you know, as students um and i

don't think there was anything that he did wrong. well, michael is also receiving some criticism outside the university campus, some saying the email was problematic. and painful for the jewish community. now to berkeley, where police cleared out a group of pro palestinian protesters who occupied the and ahead complex after an hours long standoff, riot police bust down the doors. they closed the building and arrested 12. now the building is barricaded by police. and it comes as for a 3rd time you see regions kicking the can down the road when confronted with a vote to restrict employees from posting their personal views on campus web pages at their meeting in merced, while protesters camp outside regions face criticism by pro palestinian activists that to not allow pro professors to post is an incursion on educators free speech vote to allow educators to post on so called secondary sites will now happen in july.

well, this just in from the pga. championship. in kentucky. mass. champions. scotty, chef. is back on the course following an early morning arrest. here's video from espn showing you scheffler they're being led to a patrol car in handcuffs early this morning, police say scheffler was on his way to the valhalla golf club when he failed to follow an officer's orders. after a shuttle bus struck and killed a pedestrian espn reporting scheffler drove past the police car and was chased

down and then taken into custody. scheffler said in a statement that he was proceeding as directed by officers and that it was a chaotic situation. and quote a big misunderstanding. of what i thought was being what i was being asked to do, and never intended to disregard any of the instructions. the 27 year old golfer was booked for 2nd degree assault of a police officer, 3rd degree criminal mischief and reckless driving and disregarding traffic signals. well, let's get a check on what's happening around the bay right now, and we begin in san francisco's hayes valley, where after 5 years of waiting the neighborhood is now finally getting to celebrate the grand opening of a new grocery store. let's get a look at that celebration. the new trader joe's on fulton street, mayor, london breed is in attendance for the ribbon cutting ceremony this morning and the fulton street location is bringing about 100 jobs to the area. that is good to hear. and look at oracle park this morning. get ready to lace up those running shoes bay to breakers

and the san francisco giants are teaming up for an epic running challenge this weekend. the giants are hosting runners night as they take on the rockies tonight and looking live right now at oakland, where we say good morning to our east bay friends and, of course, congratulations to the bridge builders who are opening doors to education. four students. well more than 1100 students got oakland's largest scholarship giveaway, andrea nakano talked to 1 young man who will be the 1st from his family. to attend college. >>yeah. right now, my friends. these young students are the future of oakland. they are leaders and role models in their community. you will find a more positive and inspirational young man than 17 year old royal harvard. >>mom, auntie my family, my dad because of everyone, everyone just put their time and working for music community in me, literally. so what i want to do is being the community in me and bring it right back out to the rural. >>royal is a senior at oakland tech high school and is 1 of the recipients of the oakland

70s and 80s in our inland areas, and we'll continue to see those daytime highs, staying near normal as we head into our weekend forecast with very small day to day changes. it has been a little bit breezy for us this week, but luckily this morning lasting into this afternoon that onshore flow really only maxes out close to around 20 mph. our for a wind gust. other than that, it states pretty light for us as we head into the next couple of days, which is perfect because there so many fun events to do out there. there's of course bay to breakers. there's all these county fairs and for the county fair over in antioch, we're expecting upper 70s and lower 80s. i would say that's honestly the best forecast we have all throughout the bay area this weekend if you want to head to beta breakers, it's going to be beautiful and fun and a lot of crazy sightseeing to and people watching, but we're expecting 50s in the early morning hour. lasting into the afternoon. we'll actually hit the 60s for our daytime highest, so just keep in mind layers is probably a good idea. i know a lot of people will go against what i just said right there. but here's what we're looking at throughout the bay today, is as we head into our friday afternoon forecasters expect expecting 70s, anywhere from livermore all the way over and

fremont 50s along our coastline near half moon bay in pacifica. it has been a beautiful week for us down in the santa clara valley, and we'll continue to see beautiful weather last into this weekend with 70s in sight for us today, 60s just near morgan hill. now watch what happens as we head into the next 7 days will continue to warm up as we head into our forecast next week. high pressure sitting just offshore continues to move its way in actually see 80s as we head into monday and tuesday, lasting into wednesday, with plenty of sunshine, and it will look similar to that just a little bit cooler along the bay. so if you live closer to san francisco or oakland, the 60s that we have now turned into 70s by sunday. we hold on tight to the 70s as we head into next week with some partly cloudy skies still sticking around protecting people and their voices as a new tech continues to cause concern in entertainment coming up, can
