all right on the 1st alert weather now little rise in our temperatures today was so beautiful in the city. but it's not going to last too long. meteorologist jessica birch is in the virtual view studio with our forecast. hey, jess. today is 1 of the warmest days of this week. we're expecting upper 80s in our inland areas 70s near san francisco, thanks to high pressure sitting offshore, but heading into this weekend forecast, low pressure slowly dips down and that will cool us off just a little bit more down to the 50s and 60s throughout most the bay area, but here's the good news no matter where you live in the bay. we're still dealing with dry conditions, not a drop of rain in sight for us as we take a look at the next 7 days and taking a look at the climate prediction center and what they have to say we're seeing drier than normal conditions throughout this upcoming week. all throughout our region, so just keep that in mind, it's been 17 days since we've seen our last drop of rain here in the bay area, but you know what? it's also kind of nice to have a little bit of a break, especially after that super active atmospheric river season, right? let's take a look at today. beautiful
3:06 pm
conditions. like i said, this is 1 of the warmest days this week 70s in san francisco. 60s along the coastline and 80s, close to the 90s, all the way off near antioch, concord, walnut creek with low 80s down into the santa clara valley and often of the tri valley area, it is a beautiful day today. hey, if you live up in wine country anywhere from napa over into sonoma, we're also expecting 70s and 80s in the forecast this afternoon, so all of our inland areas are doing something very similar sunshine today tomorrow, lasting into thursday. low pressure moves in and that's what calls us off as we head into friday and saturday. partly cloudy skies associated with that, too, but at least is dry. it'll kind of feel almost like we should see a little bit of rain. but for the most part, it'll just be cool and cloudy for us friday heading into saturday, the bay drops down into the 50s and then look after that. we started out bridge out into the 60s heading into early next work week. jess, thanks so much. for graduation season and the class of 2024 across the bay area and the country for that matter is dealing with some unique challenges. and

makovec joins me now and some of the ceremonies look a little different than what we're used to write, >and that is because of ongoing protests against the war in gaza. we've seen them in encampments at bay area universities and at graduation. ceremonies. >yes. you say howdy. many? >that was that uc berkeley? pro palestinian protests broke out during commencement, ceremonies on may 11th. people in the crowd, including many graduates holding palestinian flags and signs calling for the university to divest in any enterprise that might help israel. for things acquired era quieter at cal state east bay at their recent graduate celebration, but we did hear from 1 graduate who says if protests would have stopped this ceremony. you would have understood. >while this is a huge milestone in my life, the lives and well being of others are equally as important. this is a piece of paper and i could yeah. i'm still going to receive the regardless if i walk
3:08 pm
>she says her last to graduation ceremonies were virtual, so she would have been prepared for another 1 if protests would have stuff this 1, the show went on at sonoma state over the weekend, but there was a silent protest outside of the camera's view, 15 demonstrators holding palestinian flags standing face to face with police and sheriff's deputies. and they chanted as the ceremony ended and walked away that ceremony, ending an eventful week. that's enormous state on thursday. its president mike lee, stepped down after he was suspended. for making an unsanctioned agreement with a group of protesters would set up an encampment on the school's person long and that uc santa cruz about 2000 graduate student workers are on strike. they are protesting protesting over concerns about how the entire uc system is handled pro palestinian protests universe city has deemed the strike illegal. but the grand students say they are carrying on with it. the strike but likely coincide with commencement ceremonies at uc santa cruz, which are set for mid june

3:12 pm
well, they've got their diplomas. so now what? this afternoon? we are folks. on the graduating class. of 2024. and what they will need is they take their next steps. cbs news business analyst jill schlesinger says now is the time to get their money matters in order. >now that colleges over graduates need to come up with a payment plan for those student loans start by detailing what you owe the loan's interest rate, the monthly amount and when the 1st payment is due, there is usually a grace period of 6 to 9 months during which you are not required to make payments. but since the interest clock is ticking start as soon as possible. if you have a federal loan and are having trouble paying it, consider an income driven repayment plan, which can reduce the monthly amount by extending the period of time
3:13 pm
you have to repay the loan. if you're starting a new job where the employer provides health insurance look at your options. high deductible plan through work can be more affordable. or it may be cheaper to stay on your parents' health plan, which you can do until age 26. finally even though cashflow maybe tight if that new job includes a retirement savings plan, try to contribute to it at least up to the company match. if there's a roth option for retirement use that because paying taxes up front on contributions now while you're in a low tax bracket will likely pay off in the future. >and joining me now live is amira bargor. she is a professor of marketing and communications. and change management at cal state east bay. thanks so much for being with us. always a pleasure to have you ok, so all these graduations are going on everybody's celebrating. it's going to be great summer is here. but then reality hits and

3:15 pm
what deeper into those skills. because a lot of these folks
3:16 pm
have been in academia. which is a whole different environment than actually being in the workplace. what sort of special skills do you think all these kids need to know? all these graduates need to know before they enter the workplace. okay?
3:17 pm
you know the transition after graduation, although really excite can also be really strong. especially when you're trying to find that job. what can people know about mental health and keeping that strong? during this time?

(♪♪) i'm getting vaccinated with pfizer's pneumococcal pneumonia vaccine. so am i. because i'm at risk for pneumococcal pneumonia. come on. i already got a pneumonia vaccine, but i'm asking about the added protection of prevnar 20®. if you're 19 or older with certain chronic conditions like asthma, diabetes, copd, or heart disease, or are 65 or older, you are at increased risk for pneumococcal pneumonia.
3:23 pm
prevnar 20® is approved in adults to help prevent infections from 20 strains of the bacteria that cause pneumococcal pneumonia. in just one dose. don't get prevnar 20® if you've had a severe allergic reaction to the vaccine or its ingredients. adults with weakened immune systems may have a lower response to the vaccine. the most common side effects were pain and swelling at the injection site, muscle pain, fatigue, headache, and joint pain. i want to be able to keep my plans. i don't want to risk ending up in the hospital with pneumococcal pneumonia. that's why i chose prevnar 20®. ask your doctor or pharmacist about the pfizer vaccine for pneumococcal pneumonia.
