water. former san francisco mayor willie brown says he is considering suing former president donald trump. what brown says could be the deciding factor. good evening, i am andrea nakano. rain hitting the west bay area. take a look at this time lapse from our camera. this is a top the hotel in san francisco. you can see the rain and the fog covering the camera. drivers had to contend with rain in the north bay. this was taken this afternoon. let's bring in our first alert meteorologist darren peck to see how long this will last. >> we are done with this. this day will last . this requires an explanation. will we get the full forecast in my next visit, i will try to give you the full background on how this happened. look how the clouds cleared quickly by the time we get to sunset, and then it's gorgeous. where did it rain today? in

pattern. for now, back to you. school started in oakland this week. some parents and teachers are upset, saying the district didn't tell them about elevated lead levels in the drinking water on campus. the testing has happened over months. the first day of school was on monday. on wednesday, concerned parents, teachers, and community meters -- leaders , demanding answers. >> the first day is supposed to be the most exciting day of the year. we were informed that water fixtures at our school tested positive for lead. it will now have health impacts on our students and staff that will last longer than any of your time on the board. >> speaking with a parent and a teacher who were concerned about the safety of the entire district. >> students and staff here at

other schools around the districts were drinking water from the water fountains all throughout the summer school sessions. now, there are concerns about the effects of lead consumption. things like learning difficulties, blood disorders, and behavioral problems. >> a basic need, now deemed unsafe at 22 schools throughout the oakland unified school district system. >> this is a report released in april. >> reporter: he is a sixth-grade teacher at frick united . he says he is outraged and heartbroken by the results of the testing, especially because it was done months ago. >> students have been drinking led water for this entire time. that is infuriating. >> reporter: he says one fountain had lead levels of 51 parts per billion. the maximum acceptable amount is just five

parts per billion. recommending remediation if levels exceed 15. >> it would be difficult for them to know exactly what the impact is. figuring that out will be a decades long process, potentially. it's horrible. >> reporter: the water fountains have been covered to prevent more exposure. his daughter is a sixth-grader at -- middle school. >> students and their family, and school staff should be able to come to school and expect safe drinking water. >> reporter: he believes the district may need to re-evaluate how they spend money so they can best serve the students. >> $60 million to a new central office project . just so happens that we were quoted $60 million for the price of remediating the lead contaminant situation in the district. >> reporter: a teacher for united success academy says there has been a lead crisis for

years. their water fountains were still uncovered and functionable and saturday . they need to shut down all fountains, fix the issues, and prevent it from ever happening again. >> we need a comprehensive plan for testing going forward that does not just spot test. >> reporter: they are testing levels at other districts. the number of schools being impacted by this good increase. the district released a statement saying in part, we are in the process of preparing the elevated outlets which involve simply replacing the filter and retesting the outlets before bringing them back online. while being very proactive in doing this testing, we are not as effective as communicating with everyone involved. we are putting systems in place to ensure a lack of communication doesn't happen again. staying in oakland, two people were killed and others in

critical condition following the shooting. this incident happened just after 9:00 this morning. all four victims suffered gunshot wounds. officers say there was an argument and someone fired multiple rounds. police say the suspect drove away. they haven't released the names of the victims. police are looking for help from anyone with information on this case. a woman killed in a multi car collision. it was caused by a driver under the influence with the history. this happened at the intersection of lombardi court and sebastopol road . police say nhan van nguyen ran a red light and smashed into jessica avila munoz's white honda. she was taken to the hospital, but later taken to the hospital -- later died from her injuries. he was driving under the influence at the time. he

already has four prior convictions for dui and was driving with a suspended license. to a developing story out of san francisco. former mayor willie brown saying he is considering suing former president donald trump. this all starts with the story where mr. trump claims the two of them were involved in a scary emergency landing. brown denies the trip ever happened. he made the claim last week while responding to a question about a relationship between brown and vice president harris from about 30 years ago. >> i know willie brown very well. we thought maybe this is the end. we were going to a certain location together. and it was an emergency landing. this was not a pleasant landing. and he was a little concerned. >> the new york times claims that before he threatened to sue

them over the coverage of his campaign, speaking outside of -- they said if trump sues the new york times, then brown would sue trump. >> it would be defamation, slander, everything else. people are saying, did mr. brown really say that? and he stands here and says that, it's ridiculous. >> somehow, trump has got to rectify what he did in reference to me. in particular because i really want kamala harris to go toward the presidency. >> willie brown said mr. trump said brown wasn't a fan of kamala harris, which he denied. he called her a dear friend. nate holden has said he was on a helicopter with the former president that had to make an emergency landing. mr. chung was

their branches. vacationers had already left the islands. one crew left in the water after their boat lost an engine. ernesto wreaked havoc on puerto rico earlier this week, leaving hundreds of thousands of people without power. more than 18 million people are under alerts with high surf and dangers rip currents stretching from florida all the way up to maine. we are not dealing with those conditions by any means here in the bay area. >> it was a really weird day. >> of never seen anything like this in august. >> for this time of the year. there was humidity. there requires a bit of an explanation. let's take a look , just a replay of the day. i think this is just such a cool replay to watch for the middle

shouldn't look like that in august. we get in the winter we look at something like that, we expected. not in august. one of the things that was the primary concern, look at the wind. there were red flag warnings across the sierra today across because of wind. there was some rain that came along with this. and it was to go along with all of that lightning. what would have happened from a fire standpoint. thankfully, there was wedding rain. we see that giant area, that spending cinnamon roll. we are now going back to normal. let's go back to the virtual map. now we would just go back to regularly scheduled programming here in terms of our

weather. look what's coming back. this is the marine layer. it will be widespread tomorrow. everybody will wake up to the marine layer. but it will metal back as we get into the early afternoons. a couple of things going on tomorrow we should talk about here. first of all, tomorrow is another concert that will be live here at 2:00. remember, these clouds will melt that by the time we get to noon. go ahead and get a closer look. it will be great for the later hours. i think between 1:00 and 3:00, you will get plenty of rays of sunshine there. will be looking at about an 10 mile an hour breeze. now we will put your part of the day on here. these are still below average.

we are not going through a big spike just yet. tomorrow's daytime highs, going back into the 80s. you will still be relatively cool. not as cool as today. but there will be a lot more sunshine into the afternoon than what you had today. let's get in the seven-day forecast. the coolest day on here for the first part of this, sunday. and then i mention the possibility back here. it's a little too early, but that system that came here and parked itself off the pacific northwest, there is another area of low pressure, believe it or not. it looks like it wants to develop and come our way. we are not saying that. what we are saying at this point
