recent four days. that's located at 90th and macarthur. with another deadly shooting on may avenue. a few blocks from kings estate park. several people were shot there and one of them died. on monday a 17-year-old girl was killed in a hit and run on international boulevard where witnesses rushed to the scene and held the alleged driver until police were able to arrive. that's the kind of violence that brought people out to the first of several town halls planned over the next few days. for many safety was their number one concern. anne andrea nakano has details. >> reporter: this was the scene on international boulevard as oaklanders came together to keep a suspected drunk driver from running away. just moments before the video was taken, he allegedly struck and killed a 17-year-old girl and critically injured her mother. tae factor captured this video. >> it was shocking. and just

horrifying to hear to look at the ground to cetamide nighing it. sat the same time, there are cases that didn't make sense at all. >> reporter: floyd mitchell was at a town hall friday, but also spoke to the media earlier in the day. addressing what he called senseless murders in the last week. he says in one case two people were shot and killed over an argument about a parking spot. >> what i'm asking is how internally we result to gun violence. we have to stop this. there's no reason why we have four people shot in less than a week. there's no reason why this young woman and her mother was critically injured within a week. we have to do better as a city of oakland. we have to do better. >> reporter: some at this town hall were angry and frustrated

by the violence in their community. she felt they would focus on the credentials of the city leaders and not on solutions. >> it is important to know we have tame of what their skills are and more part-time to answer the question. >> reporter: mr. don't appreciate them coming in to talk about the issues. julie dunbar left with a glimpse of hope. >> oakland used to be a great place to live. i think we could bring it back, but it's going to take some time and patience. a san francisco superior court judge is allowing the family of a teenager killed at an airbnb party to move forward with her civil lawsuit against the company. she was killed at an airbnb house party in sunnyvale on august of 2021. the company filed a complaint

accusing airbnb of negligence. airbnb argued they were not liable and tried to have the case tossed out saying the rules only applies to property owners and not to rental companies. but the judge sided with the family and said that lawsuit can move forward. attorneys for christina porter. she's the 34-year-old mother of five seen in this video, has filed a claim against the city of san francisco for excessive force. security cameras, as well as several bystanders recorded porter's. in that video, officers could be seen pushing porter up against the wall. calling for a thorough investigation of the encounter. they also claim the police department struggles with deep seeded issues of racial bias, overuse of force. the head of the school board unexpectedly threw in the

towel today. the board president, a shake up will come in that time and with a district and a looming prospect of school closures. >> well, i'm taking this time and i need this time to take care of myself and prioritize myself and my needs and my family's needs. and you haven't seen the last of me. mayor london breed appointed phil kim to leave the school board. he serves as the director for the school district. helping to ensure which schools the district will ultimately close. >> i want to be really clear that my primary focus as a commissioner is to ensure we deliver for our students and families. that we hold ourselves to the highest standard, so we can improve

lost power. >> we are ready to welcome all the dogs that need us so desperately. >> reporter: franklin bought this property in 2020 just before the pandemic. now power is the main problem. pg&e tells us muttville's limit was surpassed. and also damaging pg&e's equipment. as of monday, there is enough power to get the property going. >> this is our vet clinic right here. it's sitting there full with everything we need. >> reporter: the lights are still off in that facility. muttville is renting a clinic by the day. it takes about an hour to get a dog to that dockages. due to the facility down the street.

>> the pg&e issue has cut our intake by about 75%. so it has impacted many drugs that would have come, but it is frustrating. >> reporter: some days may have been euthanized. they're working with the shelter on a long-term plan to safely deliver more electricity. >> we wanted to make this space friendly to senior citizens, to families, to children, so when they come in, they fall in love. >> saturday will be the last adoption event at their old facility and with hopes that they can save as many senior dogs as possible. >> muttville's event is going to be tomorrow from 11:00 a.m.

time the radar beech reaches about 8,500 feet off the ground. a lot of it evaporates. you can see as we look at the hour-by-hour rain chances in one of those spots in sonoma county, cloverdale, where the chances will peak late tonight into early tomorrow morning, a 50-50 chance of a trace of total rain. which will not be excited about. but august is something we'll take a look at it. take a look at the bulk of the rain that's falling up into oregon and washington. some of that is going to try to make their way into the bay area. there is about a one in three chance of a few sprinkles, a stray shower as we head through the first hours of daylight on saturday. but the bulk of that will move off to the east. the clouds will be breaking up as we head into the afternoon. except along the coast, the clouds will be hanging on with plenty of fog along the coast as we head into saturday afternoon. but you'll see more sunshine breaking through throughout the second half of the weekend with warmer temperatures starting to return to the entire bay area already for the second half of the

weekend. let's return to the monitor and take a look at our current temperatures. seeing okay right now. not seeing much fog. just cloud cover in san francisco. the clouds are holding the warm degree. but low to mid-60s across the board at the moment. those numbers will drop a little bit more. 50s and 60s on the map tomorrow morning. then we'll start to warm up. a little bit more today, but not a lot. let's talk about our high. it will be be up to 81 degrees in san jose. p even the warm spots far inland in the east bay. those numbers are a good six to seven degrees below normal. not quite as far below average as today, but still a departure. temperatures mostly in the 70s around the bay. 70 degrees in san francisco with temperatures in the north bay a little bit cooler. the clouds will hang on a little bit longer there. temperatures will be confined to the 70s. again, that's going to be temporary because

we have temperatures that are going to be warming up in a hurry as we head through the extended forecast. we will hide behind the hottest day. and monday, tuesday, wednesday, the peak of the next heat wave. let's take a look at your seven-day forecast. again from comfortable temperatures inland to not so comfortable temperatures by monday and tuesday and especially. but then coasting back down to where they need to be on thursday and friday of next week. the warm up is not going to be quite as steep around the bay, but the temperatures will get up to around or above 80 degrees by monday and tuesday. and then gradually the last day of august. temperatures are flirting by monday and tuesday before we get into the normal temperatures by thursday and friday. devin? all right, we've got warm temperatures in there. i saw 100, never like it when there's triple digits, but i won't blame you. >> it's august still. they were suppose to stay for a couple of days. it's now

all right, final preseason game. it was a barn burner. the last place seemed to have taken an eternity. it was hot and exciting. it was the most unusual into a preseason game that i have ever seen. for a game that doesn't count, at least there is great entertainment on the end. that's awesome and i wish it would have counted, but it did not. the next time the niners take the field, it will count in general. preseason has come and gone as the niners will wrap things up in vegas. one of the biggest stories was about someone who did not actually play. brandon aiyuk made the trip to vegas with the team. these are our cameras capturing

the deal. as for the game, brock purdy looked sharper. hopes to have george kittle out there with big plays like this one on third down. huge. kittle over the middle setting up the 4 ground shot to cap a 12 play. 8 l 5-yard touchdown drive giving the niners an early 10-0 lead. the second quarter, famous play for purdy with a bad it's a. intercepted by chris schmidt on a pass by deebo samuels. purdy, we don't want to see that in the preseason. the second half was joshua dobbs and his time to shine. it looked like he was walking up the backup spot. third and goal finds him in the middle of the end zone. . the game ends in a 24-24 tie. niners end the preseason with a record of 1-1-1. >> yeah, it felt good to get throughout with the guys and just move the ball, you know.

an entire season. but that's exactly what happened at valley high school in the sacramento area. now parents and players, even the cheerleading squad are throwing the challenge flag. they claimed only 14 kids signed up for the team, but the website, which tracks high school sports put that number at 45. so question number one is whose numbers are right and the second issue is for some reason the coach was fired before school began. the community wants some answers. >> it's a lot of excuses, lies going on. we just want answers, and we want our football team back. not only does it impact the football team, but impacts the cheerleaders. it's none of that, you're just cut off. the district says they are actively looking for a new head coach for the school, but they could not give a time frame on when the new one might be hired. kamala harris shared the stage at the dnc with basically every big name in the

it's the first official day of kamala harris as the presidential nominee after a week of speeches and glitz at the dnc in chicago. there is still an issue from the convention that's hanging over this campaign and that is the war on gaza. all week pro palestinian protesters demonstrated outside the united arena. members of the group of the uncommitted movement, they also staged a sit in after the harris campaign denied their request to have a palestinian american speak at the dnc. despite giving stage time to the families of an israeli hostage. george bisrain works at uc law san francisco. he says harris' attempt to simplify with palestine while defending israel fell flat for
