an august as today it was, that is coming back by this week. you're going to be 3 degrees shy of 100 for many inland valleys and look at tomorrow. tomorrow we are already going up to 90. you can see sunday. it is going to start getting hot enough that you will have temperatures that have already climbed tomorrow and we will be done with any sort of rain but i just want to show you how it played out today. is such a fascinating rate of rain fell and added up for parts of the bay. i'm just going to plot the location where we got measurable rain. this started yesterday. today was kind of like the main event. most places of the last two days technically got enough rain. we could measure it like a couple hundreds of an inch of rain. some places without good themselves. a closer look at pacifica. three tenths of an inch of rain. on that video we were looking at, that heavier so that went through stern grove, it dropped

see tenths of an inch of rain. it dropped a quarter of an inch of rain in golden gate park. and it did not do a whole lot a whole lot of nowhere else. it is in the picture of how this was very localized intensely so of rain that came through. i will be back with a fork forecast coming up in a few minutes. i will show you how we transition to the warm up. back to you's form several large sideshows breaking out across the east and north bay. you can see just how hectic it got there. people lighting fires in the middle of intersections and several reports of gunshots. leading pleased to discover a body at the scene of the sideshows in vallejo at the intersection of lewis brown and bw williams drives just after midnight. investigators have not released a possible motive as detectives are still trying to figure out if he was a sideshow participant or a passerby. they did take several people connected to the sideshows into custody but that does little to calm the fears of neighbors.

>> it is a scary. it is terrifying. i love this community. i love vallejo. but gun violence is an issue in our community. we don't want a stray bullet coming through the house. >> after the sideshow and shooting in vallejo, many of the participants and spectators took over streets and spun donuts in richmond and oakland. alejo veliz also say they found this, a huge 10-foot python that abandoned at the sideshow last night. >> investigating a shooting on haight and masonic this afternoon. police say that an argument may have led up to the shooting. there are no reports of any injuries or arrests. police arrested a 50-year-old woman for allegedly going after someone with a machete in petaluma for the victim says a woman hacked through a door of her home but cannot get in any further and left. no one was hurt here and please managed to track down the lady in nevada where she was charged

at 4:30 in the morning inform a form on the corner of your brain and san felipe road. she got an alert that one of her cameras motion sensors detected movement inside the restaurant. >> this keeps happening. >> this is the third breaking in the month of august. in the security video you can see that men burst into the back office. he disables the camera and then goes profitability and safe. >> brought power tools to cut into the save as you can see on the side there and now the safety is rendered useless. but there was nothing in the safe of value anyways. so i don't -- just more damage that we have to figure out have to cover. >> reporter: the man also gotaway with some bottles of one but most of the financial hit comes from the physical damage to the restaurant. a donation box is set up by the cash register and hopes of covering the cost from all the damage. >> this could definitely be the one that just -- us in. i only tried to keep going for my staff and for the community.

because they did not give us more controls. they did not give us security. this is not safe. >> reporter: the owners did call police and they have opened an investigation. they see in nearby coffee shop has also been the victim of a break in. in richmond, dark plumes of smoke. video shows that fire was burning dangerously close to a car dealership. richmond fire tells us it was on the fence and took about 10 minutes to put out. no one was hurt. opposition k. a hot button issue on the san francisco ballot. it would partly shut down a stretch of the highway on the west side of the city and turn it into a public park. that yes on k campaign says that measurable make it easier for drivers to get around of the website. still those against prop k say it is insane to close yet another road in a big metropolitan area just for another neighborhood park. ♪

nine february. >> reporter: nasa''s decision to switch spaceships and space companies with mission. back in june 2 astronauts butch wilmore and sonny williams salute to the international space station on boeing starliner. but now they will fly home next february and a spacex, dragon. despite bone's insistent starliner is safe to fly them back. >> it is disappointing. they are not coming home on starliner. that is okay. it is it has flat. >> reporter: nasa spent weeks analyzing issues on the flight to the eye says. specifically helium leaks in the overheating of small maneuvering thrusters. their propulsion system is critical to the return flight home including undocking in the breaking point of the return to the earth. the small engine into flooded hundreds of times to keep the spacecraft and their precise orientation for safe reentry and target touchdown. instead, starliner will return uncrewed next month.

and by the time a.d. miles backed up by the ettifaq we have gotten towards late morning, these are your daytime highs as the clouds melt away. so here's something about these numbers. if you just look at these on their own, it would go, 90 degrees forward in east bay, that is 2 degrees above average. is not a big deal. what makes it a big deal it was 78 degrees there today. so this will be an noticeable warm-up. it is so much more about today actually than it does about tomorrow. but it is a transition and this dish that is just the first step. we saw it at the top of the newscast to kind of give you a preview of where we were going to be on tuesday. tuesday is when the numbers are going to top out. we're going to be near 100. we will come back to that story. we will be near 100. road, did you get any rain today? we started the newscast showing a pretty impressive images of what looked like downpours coming in over the city. we're going to do the radar replay and i'm taking us back to this morning. look at that one isolated cell right in there, 10:00 a.m. right over the city. so would we look at that three terms of an inch of rain on the

virtual map for pacifica, that was it. and that was why everybody else for the whole two-day period only got a couple hundreds of an inch of rain. addresses kind of the isolated nature of it. now here's a little fun radar meteorology. the national weather service is so convinced we are done they have switched the setting on the radar. they have put it back into something called clear airport which means it is picking up everything. none of that is rain. the rain is over in the great basin right now. none of that's actual rain. it is because the radar is on had persisted mode right now to look for anything because they know the rain is gone. so we already saw how the marine layer is going to back those polls and then forth. so i want to take one moment and show you where the system that came through today is now and just how dramatic it was for this time of year. when you look at us on the water vapor you kind of pick up where we are. that spinning eccentric, that

area of low pressure, if you look back through the records for intensities of errors low pressure, i will finish this conversation as we transition to the seven-day. if you look back over the record, this current era of low pressure, which dropped the snow in the sierra and give us some rain and cold as the town, is the strongest of low pressure on record for at this point of the year. were not supposed to percept systems and welcome to in august and this was quite intense. that is why the rain was as weird as it was today. there is able 90-degree day tomorrow here's to 97 and today. but when we get past that, we are going to start cutting back down again and by next weekend, i don't see a replay of another unusually strong air of low pressure coming our way. we have done that for two weeks in a row now. next week and is not that. but next weekend we will cool down and we will go back into a global average as well temperature wise but without the excitement. all right, andrea, over to you. coming up in sports, blake snell back in his hometown as the giants take on the mariners with a spot in the playoffs of the line. and the local schools will have to wait a week for their season
