>> from the area's local news station. you're watching the kron. 4 morning news at 7. >> ok, the second 70. we'll get to that in a second. just go. check out the radar. good morning, everybody. and we're just going to some spotty rain showers across much of the bay. that's pretty much what's left notice. the deeper moisture you can see down to the central valley. so this things on its kind of its last legs for rain. it took it for a long time to finally getting its funding during its deal. but we're going to be left with pretty much mostly cloudy skies for the balance of today. there you have it. the golden gate bridge, not much apparent winds for right now, but we have been noticing a good clip coming in from the south. but the radar into motion, you can see with the deeper moisture is now the central valley and up in the mountains of tahoe. yes, milking out some snow showers with all of this as well. so and they do have winter weather advisory that's covering tonight tomorrow morning. temps for you. i bring this out because this

will be interesting. contrast with tomorrow now because that's going to be post all of this, which will be colder air 50's across the board for right now. lower 60's east bay shoreline. so yes, mild compared to yesterday, mild compared to tomorrow when tracker real quick. there's what we have a good, strong southeast winds. although at the golden gate, we didn't see a lot of activity there. but the wind still into the teens. we'll see more of those winds, by the way, the next about 36 hours or so. we're putting showers on here all the way to about 2 o'clock. but i think into the afternoon, much of the bay will those overcast left over spotty showers that we have more of that. plus, a look into the next week for the all important thanksgiving forecast, stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. >> the holiday travel season is officially in full swing. millions of people across california will take to the skies and the roadways for thanksgiving next week. of a justice live for us now in walnut creek this morning with a look. everything you need to know as you put those finishing touches on your travel plans. good morning, tiffany.

>> yes, good morning, stephanie. people are getting ready to travel for thanksgiving. it is less than a week away and many people will be filling up at the pump right behind you before they head out the door driving for thanksgiving holiday, according to triple a 7 million people in california expected travel with nearly 55 million expected travel nationwide. so here at the pump, here is what you can expect as gas prices of right now statewide, the average for a gallon gasoline is 5 bucks in santa rosa. 5.20 now. but you're going to see gas prices around 5.17, in san francisco is going to be around 5.16. sandra fell 5.13, oakland coming in at 502, the lay hope fairfield that is coming in at 4.98 a gallon that is going to one of the cheapest areas. but jose's actually coming in at the cheapest at 4.93, the cheapest around the bay area for a gallon of gasoline. now, if you're still planning your

trip, you're still in the planning stages. here are the best times to travel wednesday before 11:00am thursday before 10:00am or after 05:00pm friday before 11:00am or after 07:00pm. but overall, the busiest day to travel, according aaa, will be wednesday between 02:00pm and 06:00pm. they say this is a time period that will have 11.5% more traffic than usual. we have been talking about a lot this morning about travel plans. but if you really want to bring it down even further, the worst time to travel kron 4 has broken it down for you online to find that all at kron. 4 dot com reporting live to be justice. back to stephanie. definitely helpful resource or thank you, tiffany. >> we left early. you know, we gave ourselves plenty of time to get here. meanwhile, a bay area airports, officials say if you plan to fly, you want to budget in some extra travel time. >> they are bracing for the busiest travel seasons they've seen before the pandemic.

oakland international is anticipating 360,000 passengers between now and the week after thanksgiving. >> and here's a live look outside right now at sfo. looking move chilly and damp out there and airport is expecting more of is 6 million passengers between now and the end of the years. a lot of people that to be passing through more than 140,000 of those passengers were expected. just yesterday alone. kron four's dan kerman has more on that. >> over the years thanksgiving has turned from a long weekend getaway to a weeklong get away. and as of friday, it's in full swing at sfo here headed to manhattan to visit my brother and my sister-in-law and so are you excited to go see family for thanksgiving? >> i think thanksgiving is a really nice holiday just because you've got all the food, the family without as much, you know, without the commercial aspect. passenger travel continues to climb

since the height of the pandemic. >> this holiday season, sfo said 87% of where they were pre-pandemic in 2019 with 144,000 people expected to travel through sfo on friday. the not 10 of us cited looking forward the beach and the sun and seeing our cousins. we haven't what do got planned for thanksgiving? >> we're going to try to find turkey some when, of course, everyone has their own personal favorites around the thanksgiving table. and that doesn't always include turkey and stuffing. really good wife. this going to taste different than turkey. it's so much better looking forward to not eating stuffing and eating dressing. the difference between stuffing and dressing. >> let's get that settled right for from aim dressing is cornbread based staffing has a

security fences are coming down. it's a relief for many business owners in the area who say they were losing customers because of all the added security kron four's. dan thorn has more. >> the fences and barricades in hill are coming down and all of the lanes of the bay bridge are back open. a packed week ends in san francisco with many small businesses feeling like the economic boost never came. i think, well. >> what should happen if we have to repeat herself as the let the people know how they could have got in rather than just talk about what was closed down. i think is a learning experience. i think we're all disappointed. >> chinatown, business owner steven lee says security measures around moscow. nice enter appeared to have kept visitors and of chinatown as well. he also thinks the nature of the summit played a factor. it was really struck me. >> focus kind of summit. >> and we didn't get visitors that we thought we would get. >> as for the positive takeaways, lee hopes the

historic meeting between president biden and china's about more tourism to the gs city. lee says san francisco also showed it could be a clean and safe place in front of a global audience. >> anything, as a city, we did our best to i'm kind of. tell the people that time. >> you know, we're doing we're we're here. we're okay. you know, just come out and >> and see for yourself. >> and that was kron four's. dan thorn reporting for us. president biden and chinese president xi both left san francisco. as for those street closures around moscone center, you can expect those to continue through sunday. many people took bart during a packed according to the transit agency. ridership numbers throughout most of the week remained at less than 50% of pre-pandemic numbers. monday saw the lowest numbers of the week with just over 150,000 exits reported in the system. that's just 37% of

pre-pandemic levels. the same trend happened on thursday when pro-palestinian protesters shut down the bay bridge for several hours during the morning commute. on that day, the system recorded close to 44% of pre-pandemic numbers. on the last day of apec. president biden met one-on-one with mexico's president in san francisco as hannah brandt reports. the leaders discuss the problems at our shared border. >> together, we're taking a balanced approach. the immigration crisis at the southern border was a central focus during friday's talks between president biden and mexican president lopez obrador the to occasionally clashed, but also say the u.s. and mexico have shared interests, working side-by-side, combat arms trafficking need to come back. >> tackle organized crime and to address the epidemic and including fentanyl. the relation between our countries is excellent. republicans have loudly criticized the biden administration for not doing

>> dungeness crab season is being delayed for another 2 weeks. and wildlife officials are now looking into at december 16th for the start of the crabbing season. they say this delay is due to the poor crab meat quality, recreational crabbing will also be restricted starting next with to protect migrating humpback whales from getting caught in crab traps. taking a live look now out at walnut creek. not too much traffic out. there is 7.14, this saturday morning what king commuters expect that this time of day.

>> hey, good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. wet roads. we haven't had that for a little while going on. so expect that first things first. we're not adding a whole lot to this. it looks like into the afternoon until later in the morning. and then afternoon, however, we're going to have these damp conditions. obviously cloud cover will remain. it looks like just about all day. it's only tonight it rips open and we start to go into some breaking up with some clear skies. putting the radar back up here. here's what we've got to get his little cells developing around mount diablo. little bit up, sloping another topography. we have sometimes drive some of that mount hamilton store in the same down towards the south bay as well. the thing is most of the heavy moisture has since passed now and we're left with a lighter amounts. the remain later today. no flash flooding the local area. so that's good news to elbow tahoe going to get some snows out of this. so the bigger picture, most of the traffic is going to remain to our north. but the next system we want to watch is pre thanksgiving. it does look to drop south right around thanksgiving, even just before thanksgiving. it's a possibility in little stray

shower with that. but some lingering clouds and fortune covering over the sun a little bit on thursday. here's a future cast for to see what happens today. there you are. couple spotty showers into the morning hours later on this afternoon. looks like we'll see that start to really taper off a bit. remain overcast. then tonight, a little return of some showers, a weak wave to drop south. and when that's all said and done a lot that opens up overnight and that usually allows us to cool down. however, there is drier, cold air moving in here. all of that's working against us that even though we're going to see a lot of sun tomorrow, temperatures will be held down throughout the day. get an idea. these winds right now they're out of the southeast for the most part, they switch around a little bit with his passing system. we have on short first tonight, but then a switch as you see, a pop to the north that usually dry air. this takes us now till sunday afternoon. look at the very end of this. dry air coming in from solano county. you will notice there. nice little pop by monday after this rain event where an

insulated protected. but if this system didn't bring us rain, that probably would be problematic there. some dry offshore winds popping like that. cloudy and rain early. then spotty afternoon showers breezy into the 60's bay area wide coast into it. well inland tomorrow, sunny, cool and breezy. going to see the picture outside picture window looks great. the sun out and all of that. but it's breezy with dry air holding those temperatures down. a lot peppered of cooling here. so lower 60's for high well inland and then for the next week, it's variable clouds midweek. but again, that system i want to make note of wednesday, thursday, little thing to keep in mind. we'll have more on that in a bit. cool into the 60's today. let's called 66 san francisco, oakland and 68 san jose. fairly mild temperatures because we're on the mild sector still, in fact, we may reach these temperatures in the morning hours in drop into the afternoon with the winds building in that drier air, trying to filter through all this as well. so that's something to keep in mind. we take a look at all those temperatures. all that. so tomorrow we have the dry air

moving in. this kind of we're with all this rain we just had. but we may see temperatures really be struggling tomorrow. so definitely want to dress the part. even though you see sun up tomorrow will be chilly. so nice at least have big winter coat ready to go. you can do that, too. haha looks fashionable thanks very much, dave. >> major changes happening at san francisco based open ai the company's president and co-founder greg brockman has quit. >> after ceo and fellow co-founder sam altman was fired. the company's board of directors says altman was, quote, not consistently candid in his communications and quote, and they no longer have confidence in his ability to lead openai rockland says he quit after he found out about the news altman being let go. the 2 started. the san francisco based company has a research lab back in 2015. it's now the parent company of chatgpt. elon musk faces criticism this morning for embracing an anti-semitic post on his social media platform x

now multiple companies including apple, disney and ibm are pulling their ads from the social media site. the controversy began after musk responded to another user accusing jews of hating white people. musk wrote, quote, you have said the actual truth. musk then followed up his tweet by criticizing the anti-defamation league, an organization founded by jews to oppose antisemitism. and the south bay. san jose police arrested a 16 year-old on attempted murder charges. officers shared surveillance video of the teen accused of assault with a deadly weapon. before we show you this video, we do want to warn you it can be difficult to watch. you can see the victims running from a car coming from behind them and striking them. both victims. they fall to the ground. while the car speeds off. this happened around 02:00am on september 23rd after a confrontation at a restaurant on stewart avenue in alum, rock avenue near james, like high school. police say the driver came back to hit one of the victims with their with a car once

again. and that victim suffered life-threatening injuries but did survive. the 16 year-old suspect was booked into juvenile hall. state attorney general rob bonta and the federal trade commission are suing to block john muir's help john muir health acquisition of san ramon, regional medical center. their antitrust lawsuit asks for a temporary risk for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction arguing the acquisition could reduce competition for health care in the san ramon valley region and threaten the quality of care for patients. ramon regional medical center is owned by tenet healthcare corporation. the deal was first announced earlier this year and expected to be finalized by the end of the year pending approval from federal regulators. happening today, the brooklyn half marathon may affect your travel. this weekend street closures start today at 7 in the morning and last until sunday afternoon on sunday,

i-80 x the i-80 exit for university avenue will be shut down from 6 in the morning until noon. it will also be parking restrictions for a full list of closures. visit our website kron 4 dot com. the san francisco-marin food bank hosts a holiday donation drive for the 12th year in a row. it's pay. it's being held at saint. and minnie is church today from this morning until noon for donations. the food bank is asking for frozen turkeys, vegetables or money. we spoke with officials at the food bank. >> but, you know, it's a busy time of folks are really in in san francisco in marin. we saw the height of of me during the pandemic and it hasn't gone down. so we especially need the support of our community to to help us as we are. i'm trying to serve many people as possible. >> the food bank hopes to collect over 1300 turkeys. the organization serves more than

opening day boreal mountain resort on friday. as you can see there it is the 59th snow season for the popular resort. officials say it took close to 5 million gallons of water and 20 snow guns to cover the slopes with manmade snow. they hope to expand operations to the top of the mountain through the winter time. >> it's such a great thing for the local economy and the ski resort start opening that that start going up all the hotels. we have lots of great shops operate downtown truckee here. and then the rest job to just always something to dot. >> northstar and heavenly resorts delayed their targeted openings due to warm temperatures in the tahoe region. the downtown isis, san jose opens today after some delays due to the wet weather. the skating rink opens daily through january 15th. it's located at the circle of palms plaza on market street. tickets are on sale online.

on the kron 4 morning news. we're keeping an eye out for some rain showers sweeping across the bay area. >> what you can expect for the rest of your weekend. good morning. thank you so much for joining us here. start off your half this morning with a look at the forecast. dave spahr is in the weather center with the latest for us. hey, good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. and we're still going to put a patter of rain even at this hour. but most of the heavy lifting. >> the heavy carrying the water carrying, if you will, is pretty much over at this point. so it could be kind of a light stuff. a spotty showers going in technically into the afternoon. there's a nice little last-minute wave. >> that may a march on through, but very, very modest with the amounts going forward. here's a snapshot that we have right now. we go to the radar. first things first. get an idea what everybody is getting for right now. most of the deeper moisture is to our south and to our east again, left over with those spotty showers. and even when it's not raining, still kind of cloudy. we're not going to be a lot of drying or anything like that.

that's really the story for tomorrow. and the drying process. remember basic physics that absorbs heat. so therefore it's going to keep temperatures down tomorrow. there's a look at the golden gate bridge, the flag, little bit of action here of offshore, which is kind of interesting. we'll get a nice little offshore, pop up, pop happening into monday, right through solano county. and that's an area sometimes that we look for for those offshore winds in this will be problematic when you get all this rain, a look at our temperatures 60's that coverage from the coast. well inland, a cloudy to a few little spotty showers working here to help those winds. currently you can see of the southeast again later on. they become a little onshore and then a little off shore later on in the program, given to the radar into motion, you can see the deeper moisture far to the east and to the our perspective, quick check of the temperatures about 60 ish or so in the east bay shoreline. these are very mild numbers may build a degree or 2 on top of that. but then really in this afternoon because of some cooler air moving through, temperatures will actually fall you can see where head 24 hours ago from

where we were by some half a dozen degrees or better. and remember tomorrow, these numbers are probably all be in the negative category because of the change of what we've got going on more of that and take a look at that extended forecast. what's happening during the all important thanksgiving, 70. >> i looking forward to it on the peninsula. car crashes into a san mateo home leaving behind significant damage. kron four's ella sogomonian has more. >> it's truly a miracle here in murphy drive in san mateo were a car came barreling down, as you mentioned on this residential street through this driveway, hitting 2 parked cars and then down this hill missing that pool behind me and then parking right into that kitchen parking as a light word to say the least. but fortunately to people who are inside both the driver and the passenger got out safely. so that is just really incredible, especially when you take a look at the damage to that tesla that was towed away about 5 hours later after that crash. this all happened, as you mentioned at about 7.30, this morning. and it was quite the ordeal to get that

car out of the way up this hill. one of the trucks actually ended up snapping. one of their they wpre trying to bring it up here. ended to backup with heavier get pulled out >> neighbors gathering on to this street and then finally, the daughter of the woman lives inside of that home ended up coming out as soon as she got the call along with her on to thankfully, the mom was out of town and not inside the kitchen as she would normally be having her cup of coffee. as i heard from a neighbor. but really incredible phone call they got today. alarm company called and said. >> crazily. >> there is a car in her which doesn't make any sense at all. >> pretty wild to say the least as it might make much sense, of but really, we're smiling out here today because these people were able to walk away with really minor injuries. so that is super good news out here. people really happy didn't know about

that, of course, in the fact that nobody was inside of this home at the time of this crash. we'll just have to see how long it takes for repairs. this home has been red tagged now have to figure out what to do with their damaged vehicles along with this tesla that's been towed away. reporting live in san ella sogomonian. >> all right. take a look at this mill valley. police say 3 people tried to steal $1200 worth of merchandise from the mill valley market thursday night. that's a look at all the merchandise there. investigators say one of the suspects used a shopping cart to ram store employees and nearly ran over workers with a getaway car. the suspects were arrested. pitas police shut down several schools after reports of a teen with a gun near augustine park on friday. within minutes, officers found the teen and they discovered that this weapon was actually a pocket knife designed to look like a handgun. the campus lockdowns lasted about 10 minutes. in the east bay

police in antioch arrested 5 people accused of 3 armed robberies. they shared these pictures of the suspect's car. investigators say the group was armed with a handgun and rifle at the time of the robberies and we're targeting people getting home from work. the 5 suspects were booked into jail. the richmond police department now requires cultural competency training for incoming officers. the department says the training will include learning about historical police transgressions and teach officers about previous officer-involved shootings. the department says the training will ensure officers can engage with everyone in the community. respectfully. in the north bay, the vallejo city council has approved a 10% wage increase for the police department. that will be followed by a 3% increase in july of next year. and another 3% increase in july 2025. in national news. rosalyn carter, the 96 year-old former first lady has entered hospice care alongside her husband, former president jimmy carter. the couple have

been married for almost 80 years. president carter, who is 99 has been in hospice care since february. also this year, miss's carter was diagnosed with dementia. former california governor arnold schwarzenegger came back to the state capitol on friday. watch this. >> that's what the neighbors spoke to more than 200 people at a fundraiser for the sacramento press club. all of it taking place exactly 20 years since he first took the oath of office as california's 38 governor after the recall of gray davis during his remarks. shorten a reflected on what he called the 7 best years of his life. he also urged more civility and unity in today's political climate. >> i'm very, very adamant about looking across the aisle. and about not seeing the other side as the enemy.

let's work together. if we want be staying number one in the world, which we have easy chance to do. if you book together, we can continue being number one for a long time as and as a nation. so that's the bottom line. >> schwarzenegger did make some political comments criticizing former president donald trump for some of his rhetoric. he also complimented former house speaker kevin mccarthy as a fighter and a winner and commended president joe biden for meeting with chinese president xi jinping earlier this week. the former governor ruling out a run for any other office saying he is focused on other priorities. proceeds from this event will go toward scholarships for student journalist. meanwhile, california democratic delegates are meeting in sacramento through the weekend to set their agenda for the 2024 election and set the stage for the march primary. democratic candidates for the california senate seat will be in attendance talking up their

platforms each of those senate candidates is hoping that a party endorsement will come out of this weekend convention kron four's capitol correspondent eytan wallace will be at that convention and will bring us much more throughout the weekend. for your money. the latest labor department data shows inflation is slowing down. and this news comes just in time for the holiday season news nation's stephanie haines has the details. >> relief may finally be on the horizon for so many americans who have been squeezed by inflation. we are far off of the levels that we were. >> and back june of 2022, the latest labor department data shows prices went up just over 3%. the smallest amount since june. but the closest to the fed's 2% target. and it has really made a difference. the prices of used cars, some medical costs, hotels, airfare are all going down. gas is down more than 5%. we've major

decline in fuel costs, which helps travel, which helps a lot of the goods that we would purchase because they are either in need of fuel to make or need to fuel to get them from one location to another. it's also thanks in part to supply chain improvements as well as the fed's interest rate hikes which raised the cost to borrow money and things like mortgages and credit cards raising interest rates and using those monetary tools too, have inflation reduced. it takes time. and now we're finally in the last several months, including most recently today with today's cpi report. >> we're finally starting to see those results. >> and that was stephanie haines reporting for us this morning. the fed meets next month to decide whether or not to keep interest rates the same or raise them. >> here in the bay area, this man just turned 95 years old. >> and he may be the oldest forest in san francisco.

willie, they turned 95. on wednesday, a birthday party was held for him friday at the san francisco flower market. he's been a vendor there for 73 years. >> so been doing this my life and i enjoy every minute. still this money is love the flowers. unlike the season, we different flow. from beautiful >> and to this day, he still spends 5 to 6 days working his stall and talking about flowers with customers. san francisco flower market was established in 1912. happy birthday, willie, as clara county is being ranked as the second most expensive county in the country to buy a home. that's according to real estate blog park property shark. that blog says the bay area is the most expensive metro area in the u.s. for the 8 consecutive year. top 5, most expensive zip codes in the bay area include los altos, saratoga. and hello up

this happened around 02:00am on september 23rd after a confrontation at a restaurant on stewart avenue at alum rock avenue near james lick high school. police say the driver came back to hit one of the victims with with the car once again. and that victim suffered life-threatening injuries. as a result, they did survive. the 16 year-old was booked into juvenile hall. state attorney general rob bonta and the ftc are suing to block john muir health acquisition of san ramon, regional medical center. there are antitrust lawsuit asks for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction arguing the acquisition could reduce competition for health care and the san ramon valley region and threaten the quality of care for patients. san ramon regional medical center is owned by tenet healthcare corporation. that deal was first announced earlier this year and expected to be finalized by the end of the year pending approval from federal regulators. happening

well. generally speaking going to the east along the coast as well as you can see and santa cruz mountains too. most of the heavy stuff has moved far off to the east and to the south from the last managed point and we have the shot from san jose state. how about that? looks like some sun is trying to peer through some breaks in the clouds are a little bit. they'll be some token sunshine today, but don't count on a whole lot of it. your breakdown today, cloudy, some light rain returns into the early afternoon. as you can see to the inland a few little last minute showers at work here. temperatures in the 60's. there's your southerly flow that continues to bring us kind of warm air and moist air as well. relatively moyes. compare the dry stuff coming in later in the forecast period. again, back to the radar animation. you can see the heavy rains moving off to the east. this nice hole developing across the bay and some spotty showers in the wake. don't forget a little bit of evaporation helps reproduce some little showers as it were or so will keep them. still in the forecast today, lower 60's along the east bay shoreline in not much warmer this afternoon as we're

night and this is a look at that merchandise. investigators say one of the suspects used a shopping cart to ram store employees and nearly ran over workers with a getaway car. the suspects were arrested. peters police shut down several schools after reports of a teen with a gun. you're all the state park on friday. officers found the teen within minutes and discovered that the weapon that you see here was actually a pocket knife designed look like a handgun. the campus lockdowns lasted about 10 minutes. in the east bay. police in antioch arrested 5 people accused of 3 armed robberies. they shared these images of the suspects car investigators tell us the group was armed with a handgun and rifle at the time of the robberies. and we're targeting people getting home from work. the 5 suspects were booked into jail. the richmond police department now requires cultural competency training for incoming officers. the department says the training will include learning about historical police transgressions and teach

officers about previous officer-involved shootings. the department says the training will ensure that their officers can engage with everyone in the community. respect. in the north bay, the vallejo city council has approved a 10% wage increase for the police department. that will be followed by a 3% increase in july of next year. and another 3% increase in july 2025. in national news, roslyn carter, the 96 year-old former first lady has entered hospice care alongside her husband, former president jimmy carter. the couple have been married for almost 80 years. president carter, who is 99 has been in hospice care since february. also this year, miss's carter was diagnosed with dementia. former california governor arnold schwarzenegger returned to the state capitol on friday. watch this. >> governor in florida. >> schwarzenegger spoke with more than 200 people at that fund-raiser for the sacramento

americans who have been squeezed by inflation. we are far off of the levels that we were. >> and back june of 2022, the latest labor department data shows prices went up just over 3%. the smallest amount since june. but the closest to the fed's 2% target. and it has really made a difference. the prices of used cars, some medical costs, hotels, airfare are all going down. gas is down more than 5%. we've major decline in fuel costs, which helps travel, which helps a lot of the goods that we would purchase because >> they are either in need of fuel to make or need to fuel to get them from one location to another. it's also thanks in part to supply chain improvements as well as the fed's interest rate hikes which raised the cost to borrow money and things like mortgages and credit cards raising interest rates and using those monetary tools

up to a pretty damp morning, dave. yeah, gloomy to lot will take care of that for tomorrow's forecast. good morning, stephanie. >> and good morning, everybody. we're left with some, you know, leftover scattered showers still in this forecast. we've got to keep him in there a little bit into the afternoon. but >> on balance, it looks like a the bulk of the rain that we're going to get is pretty much past. here's the latest check here. we've got some of them are in extending on to sonoma county a little bit. and then meanwhile, to the south of the peninsula, looks like some spotty showers and rain a bit. and also on the east bay, too. but see the deeper moisture off to the east and to the south. that's mountain snows to, by the way. meanwhile at sfo. yeah, is why get a look at hour. plus, delay now due to what we've had. at least this is not wednesday. so can a that's a good plus. with that, we do have a system that's going to interrupt this little bit on wednesday. probably would just be some cloud cover a bit. and then maybe a sprinkle potentially overnight. but thursday should really open up nicely during the day. meanwhile, tahoe, yes, snow in the forecast now, but going

forward, there's your draft are climbing temperatures rather by monday. 46, 56 yesno, will be for the higher elevations. let's give you what's going on up there. some leftover moisture to build the snow. that's going to be certainly higher elevations with all of this. they do have a winter weather advisory. this doesn't go into effect until 4 this afternoon. but and also a wind advisory to usual notice as well. heavy snows, difficult travel. if you're going this. keep this in mind. snow around the 6500 foot level up to 8 inches at around 7,000 to 8,000 feet to get talking about one to 2 feet above 8,000 feet a fairly high level in terms of where it's building. this drop down to 5,000 feet and so forth. but this is a cold core low, but it has to be near the center of circulation. this is the moisture around that's getting thrown up there and that there has been relatively mild going forward with this period here. here's that spotty showers left over. there's that last-minute way. there's our front that's going to work. the winds post that winds flip off shore. that's

dry air colder air here. and that all works in tandem to get that extra little dose of cooling for our day on sunday war cover a little bit monday, temperature-wise and even tuesday, but stay pretty much into the 60's. it looks like as well. now the longer range forecast. we'll get to that in a bit. but i want to show you the moisture levels at the surface, quite elevated today, all day today. so we don't get really clearing out of this at all. tomorrow morning, we start fairly elevated there. we dry out keeping in mind, temperatures are lower, which means that the relative humidity is even still lower means that's very dry air moving in here. so that's one of the players to kind of robbed the surface of moisture. energy is evaporates. it absorbs heat. 66 looks like a common number for the east bay shoreline for highs today. also at 66 63% of rosa. we may actually reach these numbers by the time we around noon or so and slide a little bit into the afternoon and tomorrow we won't live up to that either. longer-range forecast. here's the break.

yesterday. and you can see there's not too much that was happening in the evening. but of course, this is all expected to change. the airport is encouraging travelers to get to the facility early to make sure that they can catch their flight on time because lines are expected to get pretty long. and in san francisco, a packed weekend wrapping up most of the road closures are over and security fences are coming down and that's a relief for lots of business owners that we spoke with. they told us that they were losing customers because of all the added security four's. dan thorn has more on that. >> the fences and barricades in hill are coming down and all of the lanes of the bay bridge are back open. a packed week ends in san francisco with many small businesses feeling like the economic boost never came. i think, well. >> what should happen if we have to repeat herself as the let the people know how they could have got in rather than just talk about what was closed down. i think it's just a learning experience. i think we're all disappointed.

center, while you can expect those to continue through sunday. that many people took part during apec, according to the transit agency, ridership numbers throughout most of the week remained at less than 50% of pre-pandemic numbers. monday saw lowest numbers of the week with just over 150,000 exits reported in the system. that's just 37% of pre-pandemic levels. the same trend happened thursday when pro-palestinian protesters shut down the bay bridge for several hours during the morning commute. on that day, the system reported close to 44% of pre-pandemic numbers. and on the last day of a fed, president biden met one-on-one with mexico's president in san francisco as hannah brandt reports, the leaders discussed the problems at our shared border. >> together, we're taking a balanced approach. the immigration crisis at the southern border was a central focus during friday's talks between president biden and mexican president lopez obrador the to occasionally

down several schools after reports of a teen with a gun near augustine park on friday. within minutes, officers found the teen and discovered the weapon was actually a pocket knife designed to look like a handgun. the campus lockdowns lasted about 10 minutes in the east bay police in antioch arrested 5 people accused of 3 armed robberies. they shared these images of the suspects car investigators tell us the group was armed with a handgun and rifle at the time of the robberies and we're targeting people getting home from work. the 5 suspects were booked into jail. richmond police department now requires cultural competency training for incoming officers. the department says the training will include learning about historical officer transgressions and teach a police officer's about previous officer-involved shootings. the department says the training will ensure that officers can engage with everyone in the community. respectfully. in the north bay, the vallejo city council has approved a 10% wage increase for the police department. that will be

followed by a 3% increase in july of next year. and another 3% increase in july of 2025. is national news, roslyn carter, the 96 year-old former first lady has entered hospice care alongside her husband, former president john jimmy carter. the couple have been married for almost 80 years. president carter, who is 99 has been in hospice care since february. also this year, miss's carter was diagnosed with dementia. former california governor arnold schwarzenegger returned to the state capitol on friday. >> government. >> schwarzenegger spoke to more than 200 people at a fundraiser for the sacramento press club. all of that taking place exactly 20 years since he first took the oath of office as california's 38th governor following the recall of gray davis during his remarks towards an acre reflected on what he called the 7 best years of his life.

monday, tuesday. 56 looking at this. you say with the problem, they actually have a winter weather advisory that kicks in afternoon at 4 almost this evening with the time change and will be around 04:00am on sunday. after that, they get the clearing patch like we do in the home front cooler temperatures with that as well. here's what it is in the future cast for get an idea. you see snow being deposited fairly high levels, though, not the 5 6,000 feet that we typically would see with the winter because this is a mild system. i'm sorry, mild air temperature wise. there it is. the advisory see the coverage area, little difficulty in terms of travel. snow around 6500 feet up to about 8,000 or i'm sorry, talking about to up to 8 inches around 7 or 8,000 feet. and above that, we're talking footage. so you have to get very high to get that snow collection there because even though this low is a cold core low, it's really working with some mild air. and that's been the story with all the rain we finally got until this or got here yesterday, spartz

okay. very good. you know, going back the topic of the holiday window displays, right? this is such a beloved. >> tradition is something i look forward to year in san francisco. so tell us a bit about the program and why are excited what what feeling particularly excited about for this year? yeah. well, it's every a fantastic program that we do with macy's. we're super grateful to them we actually unveiled the windows yesterday. yes, congratulations. thank you. and there are quite a few people there. and what i always love every year is are people that that come as a tradition? well, that have got their animals from the windows before. and mike, good to come back to visit. yes, that is very can see some of the video from that unveiling yesterday. and you can see all that too little kittens and cats puppies available and waiting for their forever homes. how did you guys decide which animals end up in the in the holiday display out of you

rotate like how do you decide? well, we do but the good news is that most of them we can't rotate because they get adopted and okay, we choose definitely choose one that we think are going to behave well and play and there. we have a good quite a few of them right now. and they all get a chance come down to the windows. you have a pretty high success rate when it comes the little ones that are displayed in the windows and people come by and see, yeah, we really do. and in fact, this year we're looking to adopt out 600 animals as part our program with macy's. wow. 600 animals just through the holiday window display adoption drive alone. yeah. that and coupled our campus in the mission that 16th in alabama. so a lot of people will come see the windows and get excited about adoption and if they can adopt the moment that the windows come, see at our base and tell us to about what people should be considering a before they

bring an animal of for the holiday season and give them that forever home. yeah. well, a couple of things to consider. i do. you have the time to take care of an animal because to have a loving relationship with your creature like oliver. you want to be able to spend time and say for a dog, be able to walk them 3 times a day. and have the time to just play a mean puppies and kittens are pretty easy to to play with. so those are some of the things you want to think about. all right. very good. and again, a promotion that's happening now for folks who want to adopt or remind us of that yeah. so our adult animals, 5 months older are free. so that a great opportunity bring a for furry friend into your house. and then kittens and puppies are only $100. okay. very good. and where can people go to get some more information? they can go to our website which is sf spca, dot org where they can come. visit us at our
