a thanksgiving nightmare. police now looking for 3 people, they say rammed a car into this whole story. and it's small business saturday. how and where you can shop and support local this holiday season. >> from the area's local news station, you're watching the kron. 4 morning news at 7. >> good morning. thank you so much for joining us here on the kron. 4 morning news. i'm stephanie lin and it is saturday november the 25th. let's get you started with a look at the weather. >> hey, good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. off to a chilly start. we are even some frosty conditions to be had. that's why they've posted the frost advisory in expect these temperatures to kind of repeat themselves again tomorrow. that means we're talking about some 30's picking up in the north bay valleys. but we'll only warm up to the 60's to for an afternoon high, which in some ways for drier, not bad in the winter months are talking a 30 degree difference here, but still be bit on the cool side with breezy conditions as well. here's a look at half moon bay as the

sun just starts to join us a little bit. little color is a left in the skies and not much from the skies for today. that's a contrast to tomorrow. unfortunate. looks like we'll get some cloud cover a little bit concentrated in the central and south bay a little bit. we'll be showing you that in a bit. meanwhile, here's what i'm talking about is frost advisory in the valleys of the north bay solano county. you technically have a freeze warning. now this is tonight until today until 10 o'clock. and then tonight kicks back in again and will be with us until 10:00am tomorrow morning. the conditions will be much the same. they have some 30's up there in the north bay, subfreezing santa rosa nevado. 34 going on for a nap and 42. meanwhile, 4 antioch, but notice how the numbers to the south are a little bit more mild. we have 8 degrees actually ahead for places like concord, one degree head for hayward. little cooler off towards san jose and also livermore again with the cloud cover tomorrow. this may be a little different. winds are a bit offshore, continuing to provide the dry air that's in place. one of the elements

that we need for cooling we don't have much the way of winds, dry air clear skies away. we go now for highs today. 54. it looks like by 11 by 2 59 some lower 60's about the best will muster for highs, but at least it looked good with lots of sunshine of. more on that forecast. coming up on what your sunday looks like as well. stephanie. >> all right, dave, thank you. pro-palestinian rallies took over san francisco's union square on black friday. protesters demanding a permanent ceasefire between israel and hamas kron four's. dan thorn has the details. >> on the busiest shopping day of the year, pro-palestine protesters flood the street in front of macy's in san francisco's union square. the group led by high schoolers wanting to disrupt shopping center's as the war continues in gaza where here to shut spending money that is going to go to israeli government. when the genocide. >> a youth for palestine and

arab youth organizing were some of the groups bringing people together friday night. the protest comes as there is a brief pause to the violence in gaza. well, prisoners and hostages are exchanged between israel and hamas. protesters say the pause is not enough. we have been demanding a permanent ceasefire. we need a permanent ceasefire. we do not need this temporary services and even a cease-fire. this is a humanitarian pause for hostages more than 13,000 palestinians have been killed, according to the health ministry and hamas ruled gaza and in israel, 1200 people have died since the initial attack by hamas in october bay area. youth leaders say they want people to know they're paying attention to what's happening in gaza were going to the next politicians. >> the next governor's, we're going to the next speakers next. actors, actresses, influencers. it's our job to show that the youth are not sign and we're never going to forget what's going on out. we're never going to get for the future. >> that was dan thorn reporting for us this morning. there was also a rally in san jose. this group marched through the apple store at the

valley fair mall. >> the protest started at santana row just across the street there, though the march was peaceful, but the event did disrupt some black friday traffic in the area. and protest in just happened here in the bay area in southern california, a large group marched near the grove shopping center in los angeles and the americana in glendale in sacramento. 100 people crowded outside the arden, fair mall. every one of these groups calling for a permanent cease-fire in the conflict. conflict in the middle east. and new this morning, hamas is expected to release 40 more israeli hostages in exchange for 42 palestinians in a second prisoner swap during the first day of the four-day cease-fire hamas free. 24 hostages in israel, the least. 39 palestinians later in the day. there were no americans in this first group. the president biden said he is committed to bringing them home. he called the deal a start. >> over the next few days, we expected dozens of hostages

will return to their families. also remember all those are still being held, renew our commitment to work for their release as well. 2 american women and 1, 4, year-old child abigail, who remains among those missing. also will not stop until we get these hostages brought home the answer to their whereabouts. >> the president also spoke about the need to get more humanitarian aid into the region. well, the four-day cease-fire is in place. he said 200 trucks stand at the egyptian border with supplies food, medicine and water for gaza. the oakland city council plans to hold a special session monday to vote on a resolution supporting a permanent cease-fire in gaza. councilmember carroll fife wrote up this legislation and the session is scheduled at 04:00pm at city hall. we have new video of the fiery crash that shut down highway one in san mateo county. it happened around 2 friday afternoon. as you can see there, the chp says a gmc yukon was traveling

northbound when the driver came into contact with a bicyclist cross them to the southbound lane, hit a truck and crashed into a tree. the driver of the yukon died there. passenger at the bicyclists were taken to the hospital with injuries. >> investigators say the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol. the highway was shut down in both directions for about 2 hours. >> the 86 year-old man died on thanksgiving night in a crash in concord. police say the head. that's before 07:00pm in the area of oak grove road and treat boulevard. officers say the victim was a passenger in one of the cars involved in another separate crash. just a block away. he died at john muir hospital. >> we'll take a look at this. the entire produce section inside a target in emeryville is closed off after reports of a fire inside the business earlier this week, we are working to get more information from authorities. pleasant hill. police are looking for 3 people who crashed a van through a kohl's store thursday night as kron

four's rob nesbitt reports the group got away with stolen items. >> the entrance of the cold store looks very different on friday, boarded up now. but thursday night, it was a very different scene when the vehicle that crashed into the building was still here. the 3 suspects, though, we're not. it was about 07:45pm thursday when pleasant hill police received the call that this van drove to the entrance of the calls on monument boulevard. jessica robinson was near the store at the time of the crash. we weren't sure what was going on. we saw the and then we saw there is a ton of police cars, but we weren't sure if it was like a drunk driving thing or that was a theft thing. according to police, it was the latter. say 3 suspects wearing mask entered the clothes store and got away with an unspecified amount of merchandise before the first responding officers arrived. shoplifting is one thing but driving a vehicle into a star that's like grand theft auto video game things. a spokesperson for kohl's tells kron 4 that despite all the broken glass and damage, the pleasant hill location was still able to open as

residents to skip those big box stores and shop locally. several cities around the area putting together of ed's like here in pacifica, the f 2 events. they say that represents the city's commitment to the many locally owned businesses in the area. this is going to be a neighborhood white celebration. we're told in historic downtown with 50 businesses taking part. there's also going to be music and food and there is also a weeklong event as well for the city of we know that in san jose they're encouraging residents to shop local as well to support the mom and pop shops down there. the cities holiday, san jose campaign highlights actually more than 300 businesses and cultural experiences. they say an 11 shopping districts there for small business saturday. and the city says about a 3rd of san jose. 60,000 small businesses are considered micro businesses only employing 2 to 9 full-time employees. and people are ready to support local, you know, according to a 2022 survey by american express

you. not your imagination. uber 30 for nevado 50 san francisco. he's thermal gradient right here. 34 meanwhile for napa, 31 santa rosa down south. notice how most these numbers start popping in the 40's, although san jose santa clara county, you start to get into the valleys again and temperatures drop a bit. the cold air drainage effect. 39 at this hour for san jose. so the bigger picture for the stormy action. well, nothing happening for a while. this cluster of cloud cover will be a player in our forecast tomorrow. it looks like it's going to develop late overnight in cover us up a little bit through dawn into the afternoon. it looks like that will cover the south bay mostly peninsula, east bay north. they might be spared a little bit of this. but not as much sun tomorrow. but we're still looking at similar temperatures. of this traffic out here there looks like a low that's going to develop. that's been weak and we're tracking that as well. looks like it will become unsettled for the 2nd half of the week. future cast for today and then full sunshine again. a little on the chilly side. you do have those breezy conditions here and there, but offshore wind tomorrow morning just in

time from after the cooling at night will be pretty clear. the cloud cover redevelops covers a sober notice. the location east bay to the south, not as much in the north bay in it kind of churns around our backyard. and we're on northern fringe of this. and it looks like it wants to retrograde to the north. so we're on the northern fringe of all of this in our viewing area. so some folks will see more sun than others. if this trend a little further south, you might get more sunshine tomorrow and we're bargaining so the pattern is pretty much set up high pressure in the west coast for the most part, a little bit of an offshore wind, although not a major pop happening just enough with the dry air allow temperatures to fog and that cloud cover could interrupt things for tonight. here's the game plan. cold start sunny and cool again. sunday is going to be different story. but that's for today. now early in the week, chilly starts sunny and cool for your monday tuesday. for the most part here, got those 30's inland still 60's for the afternoon. a late in the week. showers by wednesday. and looking like it's favoring the morning commute, by the way, a new

batch drops in on thursday and friday. that will be coming in from the northwest. and that means it will be colder and more mountain snows will be collected with that. 63 san francisco, 64 open 66 san jose across the bigger board, mid 60's is about the best. we're going to be muster in this forecast. and it looks like for much of the week ahead, stuff. so the last half of the week as start to become more unsettled and get some of that rain. so for shopping today, 2 thumbs up tomorrow, maybe not as much sun. that's right. people should take advantage while they can all right, dave, thank you. >> well, in fairfield, police are partnering with solano town center mall management to prevent retail crime. the department is increasing police presence inside and outside of the mall and surrounding areas. officers are also working with local loss prevention teams to curb shoplifting and stop retail theft. and police also encourage people to avoid shopping late at night or in the early morning hours. they say when shopping with kids you want to hold on to their hands and have a location to meet. if you do end up separating from each other and

keep your purse and wallet, some worry might be a little harder for pickpockets people who are trying to pick your pocket to reach and try not to walk around while overly distracted, pay attention to your surroundings. cyber monday is around the corner and experts are warning shoppers about online scams. can include urgent request for updated billing information and fake tracking notifications usually sent as an e-mail attachment or separately inc other scams to watch out for fake charities or social media accounts or empty and stolen gift cards. experts suggest just buying gift cards from official stores or websites. friday also marks native american heritage day. 54 years ago, american indians of different tribes to control of alcatraz proclaimed it as their own kron four's. alice sogomonian reports. >> more than 1.4 million people visited island in the center of the san francisco bay each year. alcatraz is best known for the country's

administered one dose of newark and the man was taken to a hospital for treatment and evaluation. told you about the first 3 cases thursday. 2 of them were fatal. the first happened at fruitvale station in oakland around 6.20, wednesday night. the second just hours later around 11:30pm, at the powell street station in san francisco. both men were given or can but did not survive. police found a 3rd overdose victim at the richmond station one 20 thursday morning. he regained consciousness after 3 doses of narcan and is expected to survive. police say they found 40 oxy pills inside a car stolen out of oakland. police pulled over the driver early friday morning near grandview, a grand and fairview avenues. the current no headlights and no front plate. the driver was arrested. the vehicle turned over was turned over to a donor. in nation. other driver arrested after they tried to get away with a stolen car. benicia police say overnight they spotted this paper license plate on the vehicle

news while online shopping is on the rise, there are a number of ways you can still support your local businesses. will explain how and scammers are posing as companies like amazon to try and trick people into giving them a personal card and banking information. we have more on that in just a moment. and welcome back the morning news. we're going to all those stories in just a moment. but let's get you started this half hour with a look at your forecast with dave sphar a day. >> and good morning, everybody off to a pretty good start. although cold, yes, it will be a bit chilly this weekend in the morning hours, particularly looks like we'll hang it with that early end of the week. it's all the elements working for it to you got the dry air offshore winds will continue a little bit too clear skies at night and the winds aren't too much to interrupt the cooling at night. that happens and we know this is particularly up in the north bay. but first, things first, a lot of sunshine to enjoy as we start the day, here's half moon bay for you. may not be quite as picturesque tomorrow morning as we'll get the intrusion of some cloud cover to start and into the afternoon, it will be

more concentrated mid 2 south bay. here's a look at what we do have in terms of the advisories. there's the frost advisory in the north bay. that's to expire at 10 this morning to be reinstated tonight at 10 to go back again till 10:00am. and meanwhile, solano county, you're looking at the freeze warning already seeing some temperatures dip below freezing. the local area little bit, particularly those inland valleys. there you have the winds just a little bit of a breeze, but it is offshore. so that reinforces the dry air that we have storm tracker, 4, no interference coming in again. that will be tomorrow story lower 30's up to the north bay. napa holding on to 34. meanwhile, a lot of 40's in the east bay and even the peninsula. 54, for example, half moon bay and 39 for san jose. here's the contrast for you. a much colder up in the north and it was this time from yesterday. a couple degrees warmer across the mid bay and down south. and actually, that's something i would expect to see tomorrow. given the cloud cover layout for today. let's keep it mostly sunny, some high cloudiness here and there and temperatures modestly in the lower 60's even well inland.

coming up a little bit. we'll take a look at that, but also start to get in the unsettled weather expected for middle latter portion of the week ahead, stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. >> the san jose mom accused of exposing and killing her toddler with fentanyl and meth poisoning is in custody. kelly richardson faces a murder charge according to court documents, richardson and the toddler's father, derek rayo had fentanyl and opioids in their system at the time of their daughter's death in august. investigators say the parents then waited more than 12 hours before calling police. >> on these electronic devices were text messages social media messages and videos and photographs showing both of the defendants, spokane narcotics in close proximity, 2 baby w on several occasions. the couple texted their concern about having dangerous narcotics around the baby to each other. >> rio is being held in jail without bail. his next court appearance is scheduled for

monday and it's been a busy few nights for law enforcement. san mateo police say a suspected dui driver crashed into a tree friday evening in the area of south el camino, real and 20th avenue northbound lanes were partially blocked. police say this is the driver second dui arrest. is rebel police say a suspected drunk driver caused this rollover crash friday morning. this is the area of lincoln avenue and prospect drive. police say the driver had a blood alcohol content twice. the legal limit. incredibly no one was injured. and a reminder, the california highway patrol is out in full force this weekend. the agency's maximum enforcement period is in effect through sunday night. chp hopes to reduce the number of crashes injuries and deaths. they say last thanksgiving. 37 people died in crashes and more than 1000 drivers arrested for dui. and new this morning, former san mateo county sheriff and county supervisor don horsley has passed away. he started

his career at the san mateo county sheriff's office in 1972. he was later elected sheriff of san mateo county where he served until 2007. he continued his public service in 2010 after being elected to the san mateo county board of supervisors. and a post holiday hack hits the east bay. the official visitors information account for the city visit for a plea has lost control of its x account. discovered friday after someone made inappropriate posts on the page visit berkeley confirmed to kron 4 that recent posts were made as a result of foreign interference and that they are investigating. caltrans suspend services between san jose diridon and tame and station starting next week. the agency is working on display are rather replacing the diesel run. trains with new electric ones. vta buses will be provided between the stations for free. the end is near for paper bar tickets. part will stop accepting them starting next thursday. this

you into giving up log-in credentials or payment information. some prime members are even receiving fake texts calls and emails claiming there's a membership issue that requires payment or bank information so far this year. we've >> taking down over 45,000 websites taken down over 15,000 phone numbers the bad actors have been using. the fbi says 12,000 americans reported losing money during last year's holiday shopping season. >> those scams include social media posts offering gift cards online surveys designed to steal personal information and fake messages advertising hard to find items and it turns out it's taking you to a fake web site with a lot of times really, too good to be true prices items that may be out stop elsewhere. melanie mcgovern, with the better business bureau says delivery scams are also common with criminals posing as your delivery service and sending out tax with fake links designed to steal information. don't click on the don't give

hostages brought home and the answer to their whereabouts. >> the president also spoke about the need to get more humanitarian aid into the region while the four-day cease-fire is in place. he said 200 trucks stand at the egyptian border with supplies, food, medicine and water for gaza. the oakland city council plans to hold a special session monday to vote on a resolution supporting a permanent cease-fire in gaza. >> councilmember carroll fife road up that legislation, the schedule there, rather, the session is scheduled at 04:00pm at city hall. we have new video of that fiery crash that shut down highway one in san mateo county. it happened around 2 o'clock friday afternoon. chp says a gmc yukon was traveling northbound when the driver came into contact with the cyclist crossed into the southbound lane, hit a truck and crashed into a tree. the driver of the yukon died on scene there. passenger and the bicyclists were taken to the hospital with injuries. investigators say the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol

numbers this morning. well, in the business of the 40's, even the upper 40's at that, the lakewood, shelley, 40 in solano county, you have that freeze warning still in place upstream. this nice little collection of cloud cover going to be kind of a little bit of a spoiler for tomorrow. it's not have a big impact on our temperatures, but it will be into the skies. so it won't be quite as sunny as today, but still looks pretty dry, at least for the weekend. so that's a plus. there. what's this deal out here? waiting for a low to develop middle of the week. it looks like we may be getting something and it may be time for the wednesday morning commute in unsettled. that sets the tone for the latter half of the week. so there's another system. it's going to be coming right out of the gulf of alaska. and yes, that will be colder in bring some mountain snows to finish off the week. futurecast for uneventful today, sunny skies. here comes the spoilers overnight here. a bit. this may impact overnight lows a little bit. as you can see, grace is up to the north bay that you get too much cloud cover. it's hard to get those temperatures to fall. now in meanwhile, across much of the east and the south bay, you see we start off with some of that cloud cover the kind

of churns as we're on the northern edge of this intrusion. so not sure what the impact is going to be in total for us yet again to see if this actually call comes together. but that's a little threaten or little bit change in the forecast. just a touch compared to the day. what we do have on the synoptic scale is a high up towards our north. that provides a bit of an offshore wind, at least at the surface. so we're going to stay dry, not your imagination. it is dry and will be tomorrow. that will change by the middle of the week. so cold start sunny in the afternoon and cool again. tomorrow's different story than early in the week. chilly starts with all of this. but sunny and cool. then wednesday it gets interesting that shower activity may be in the morning commute and then there's a secondary system covering our thursday and friday and that will be colder today. 63 for san francisco, 64 for oakland, 66 for san jose. not a lot of mercury moving across the board between each other in the locations. the microclimates. but compared to our low temperatures starting off this morning, that's a pretty good

stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. >> pro-palestinian rallies took over san francisco's union square on black friday. protesters demanding a permanent ceasefire between israel and hamas force. dan thorn has the details. >> on the busiest shopping day of the year, pro-palestine protesters flood the street in front of macy's in san francisco's union square. the group led by high schoolers wanting to disrupt shopping center's as the war continues in gaza where here to shut spending money that is going to go to israeli government. that's one sign. >> a youth for palestine and arab youth organizing were some of the groups bringing people together friday night. the protest comes as there is a brief pause to the violence in gaza. well, prisoners and hostages are exchanged between israel and hamas. protesters say the pause is not enough. we have been demanding a

shopping center in los angeles and the americana in glendale in sacramento, 100 people crowded outside the arden, fair mall. every one of these groups calling for a permanent cease-fire in the conflict in the middle east. and new this morning, hamas is expected to release 40 more israeli hostages in exchange for 42 palestinians in a second prisoner swap during the first day of the four-day cease-fire hamas free. 24 hostages and israel released 39 palestinians later in the day. there were no americans in the first group, but president biden said he is committed to bringing them home. he called the deal a star. >> over the next few days, we expected dozens of hostages will return to their families. also remember all those are still being held, renew our commitment to work for their release as well. 2 american women and 1, 4, year-old child abigail, who remains among those missing. also will not stop until we get these hostages brought home and the

answer to their whereabouts. >> the president also spoke about the need to get more humanitarian aid into the region while that four-day cease-fire is in place. he said 200 trucks stand at the egyptian border with supplies like food, medicine and water for gaza. the oakland city council plans to hold a special session monday to vote on a resolution supporting a permanent cease-fire in gaza. councilmember carroll doubt that legislation and the session is scheduled at 04:00pm at city hall. and we have new video of the fiery crash that shut down highway one in san mateo county. this happened around 2 friday afternoon. chp says a gmc yukon was traveling northbound when the driver came into contact with the bicycle bicyclist crossed into the southbound lane, hit a truck and crashed into a tree. the driver of the yukon died on scene. the passenger and the bicyclists were taken to the hospital with injuries. investigators say the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs. the highway shut down in both

directions for about 2 hours. 86 year-old man died on thanksgiving night in a crash in concord. police say the hit and run happened just before 07:00pm in the area of oak grove road and treat boulevard. officers say the victim was a passenger in one of the cars involved in another separate crash. just a block away. he died john muir hospital. and take a look. this is the entire produce section inside. a target in emeryville is closed off after reports a fire inside the business earlier this week. we're working to get more information from authorities. pleasant hill. police are looking for 3 people who crashed a van through a kohl's store thursday night as kron four's rob nesbitt reports. the group got away with stolen items. >> the entrance of the cold store looks very different on friday, boarded up now. but thursday night, it was a very different scene when the vehicle that crashed into the building was still here. the 3 suspects, though, we're not. it was about 07:45pm thursday when pleasant hill police received the call that this

>> our police have now recorded for overdose cases within 2 days. the latest happened at the fremont station thursday afternoon. an officer administered one dose of narcan. the man was taken to the hospital for treatment and evaluated. we told you about the first 3 cases thursday. 2 of them were fatal. the first happened at fruitvale station in oakland around 6.20, on wednesday night. the second just hours later around 11:30pm, at the powell street station in san francisco. both men were given narcan, but neither survived. police found a 3rd overdose victim at the richmond station at one 20 thursday morning. he regained consciousness after 3 doses of narcan and is expected to survive.

killing her toddler with fentanyl and meth poisoning is in custody and we'll have a hearing monday at noon kelly richardson now faces a murder charge according to court documents, richardson and the toddler's father, derek rayo had fentanyl and opioids in their system at the time of their daughter's death in august. investigators say the parents then waited more than 12 hours before calling police. >> on these electronic devices were text messages social media messages and videos and photographs showing both of the defendants, spokane narcotics in close proximity, 2 baby w on several occasions. the couple texted their concern about having dangerous narcotics around the baby to each other. >> gray was being held in jail without bail. his next court appearance is scheduled for monday afternoon. it's been a busy few nights for law enforcement. san mateo police say a suspected dui driver crashed into a tree friday evening in the area of self

camino and 20th avenue northbound lanes were partially blocked. police say this is the drivers second dui arrest. sandra fell. police say a suspected drunk driver caused this rollover crash on friday morning. this is in the area of lincoln avenue and prospect drive. police say the driver had a blood alcohol content twice. the legal limit. incredibly no one was injured in this crash. and a reminder of the california highway patrol is out in full force this weekend. the agency's maximum enforcement period is in effect through sunday night. chp hopes to reduce the number of crashes, injuries and deaths. they say last thanksgiving. 37 people died in crashes and more than 1000 drivers arrested for dui. and new this morning, former san mateo county sheriff and county supervisor don horsley has passed away. he started his careers at the san mateo county sheriff's office back in 1972, it was later elected sheriff of san mateo county where he served until 2007. he
