livermore, 43 com park. 41 santa rosa. 37 half moon bay. we're sitting at 43. we're going to track at your holiday forecast coming up next. >> well, breaking news overnight. a hit and run in antioch has left a 12 year-old and a 14 year-old dead just days before christmas. this happened at the intersection of west street and g street according to police, the black car in that video was going northbound on the street and broadsided the blue car. the black car hit a fire hydrant as well. it's currently unclear whether the 12 14 year-old were driving the blue car that's currently under investigation by police. the driver of the black car. however, did flynn flee the scene? currently police are investigating whether speed was a factor and not stopping at the stop sign was also involved. we'll continue to keep you updated both online and on air. a warning for those living in richmond, the contra costa county department of health says it's found cancer causing chemicals in the soil near a former cleaning business officials are working and taking more

samples to see if those chemicals are currently in the air as well. >> kron four's amanda hari has the latest scary news ripa living in a richmond neighborhood per clow road lean or pce a chemical known to cause cancer. >> has been found in their soil. the first sample found near barrett avenue and 20th street across from building that housed multiple dry cleaning businesses between 19, 62,001. >> it we're working as quickly as we can to assess the situation and to take the steps necessary to make sure that they're protected. todd sachs is the deputy director of sight mitigation for the california department of toxic substance control. >> his agency has been investigating 112 former dry cleaning facilities as part of a new initiative to cleanable normal communities. they've collected samples from 5 of those sites so far. the first and only one so far. >> identified chemical concentrations are high enough to require this kind of immediate action. friday officials were going door-to-door to get permission

from residents to install devices that will measure of the chemical from the soil is also in the air. >> contra costa county supervisor for the area john joya went with them. he says he spoke to the family who live closest to the site and they were surprised. >> they were concerned if officials do find the chemical in the air, the dts, he will provide temporary mitigation efforts to reduce air contamination by installing fans and ventilation systems. while they come up with a long-term cleanup plan. so yes, as if that's the case, the families may need help. this state needs provide funding. >> for these families to move temporarily. if if that is required. amanda hari kron, 4 news. >> well, officials with bay area air quality are now finding a facility in pleasanton over $200,000 from multiple air quality violations that were found over the last year at the violations. excuse me of lt 2 years, the violations happened back in 2021. at the vulcan materials manufacturing

out he had used bear spray on other and house people in the neighborhood before coming out, however, did not testify, invoking his 5th amendment right against self-incrimination. well, investigators have identified the man stabbed to death in pacifica is 30 year-old has wrote pooch from oakland. the stabbing happened at a home on naomi avenue thursday morning. a woman was also stabbed inside the home but is expected to survive. police have identified the suspect as 46 year-old jason guillen water. he was later found dead after shooting himself in unit excuse me. a source told kron 4 news he was a paramedic in coma and has also been arrested for domestic violence at the same home in pacifica about a week before the stabbing happened. well, police in oakley are asking for the public's help to find a 2015 toyota camry that was involved in a hit and run with

a bicyclist was killed last week. officials say the collision happened shortly after midnight on sunday near bridgehead road. and main street police responded to calls of a man lying on the road next to the bike who was later identified by county officials. as 41 year-old aloha g to re officers arrested the vehicle's owner identified as 55 year-old timmy hudson, but they still not found that vehicle again. it is a 2015 toyota camry. if you have any information, police are asking for you to contact them. a gofundme has been set up to help the mother of gable. stewart, the domino's delivery driver that was shot and killed outside of his home in oakley this week. the shooting happened wednesday night as stewart was taking a break from delivering pizzas outside of his home. and according to police, stewart's mother was home at the time and witnessed the deadly shooting when it comes to the motive or who was behind the gun at the time, police are still working to get those answers and take a look at this. our photo

yesterday, santa rosa. 61 will be your high san francisco, 57 half moon bay. we're at 59 san jose, 60 to livermore. we're at 60 and antioch. we're looking at 57 oakland, 58 so again opens at 58 santa rosa's at 61. and those temperatures are really going to say in the upper 50's and for the day. what we'll continue to watch really is going to be colder temperatures. the good news is that simmers a year usually right there above freezing. thankfully tonight you're going to be at 40. so you're going to actually think it's warmer for 45 for half moon bay, san jose. 44 and livermore. we're at 39 for los. our lows are going to be upper 30's and 40's for the entire region. but we will see some light gusty conditions if you live in the inland area that delta breeze is going make the temperatures feel a little bit colder today because we're looking at 12 to 10 degrees, breezy conditions. big picture showing you. all right. here you go sunday into we're looking at mostly cloudy conditions, upper for the holiday. next chance for rain is going to be on wednesday.

>> right. well, thank you, brittany. >> studies show americans throw out nearly 3 billion more pounds of trash during this holiday week than any other week of the year. they say it's the biggest waste is really wrapping paper. experts say. >> so are opening up those holiday gifts. try to be careful, unwrap them in a neat way. so you can reuse them in the year to come and you can basically reduce waste. >> and it seems time and money when the next holiday season comes around and already got all those supplies of hate. >> now, in addition the wrapping paper, of course, our mailboxes are fireplaces are filled with holiday greeting cards. experts say if you tear off that bottom portion of you can save the top decorative front and you can use it as a gift tag next year. and of course, another way to reduce landfill space is to recycle those christmas trees. well, as travelers are heading out for the holidays, the department of transportation

is making sure travelers are protected as they head to their destination. washington correspondent trevor shirley has the details. >> and part of this effort by the administration includes transportation secretary pete buttigieg, encouraging travelers to know their rights, especially when they fly the holiday travel season always comes with some degree of chaos from weather problems to heavy crowds today. secretary buttigieg addressed efforts to protect travelers when problems occur especially by airlines. the secretary said travelers have rights and should know them, especially when it comes to delays and cancellations. he cited last year's southwest airlines meltdown which is now led to a historic find for the airline. the dot announced a record 140 million dollar fine for the airline over last year's problems. buttigieg says over the past 2 years, the dot has expanded passenger protections. those protections he says are outlined on the

>> after missing recruitment goals in 2022, the army and navy felt far short of those goals. again this year, according to federal data across all u.s. military branches, the shortfall for 2023 is about 41,000 recruits. so many believe an affective modern campaign is long overdue to bring an about-face on gen z attitudes, something as iconic as what rallied americans back in the 80's. we do more before 09:00am. >> people all day. >> i believe in our generation. i believe gen z will answer the call eventually will step up every can community is contributing some of the young people to military service. it will be very, very positive for the defense of the nation, for the cohesion of the nation as well. >> the recruiting shortfall has some military leaders pushing for a new national call to service a potentially pivotal move given all

compared to the past couple days. that's a good news. as you wake up this saturday. >> gusty conditions still going to be a thing but not as bad as yesterday. futurecast still showing some foggy conditions throughout the 8.30, hour and those temperatures for the next 3 days going to be chilly a little bit chillier compared to yesterday. we'll break it all down for you. coming up next. >> well, thank you, brittany. over in the east bay, a 3rd lawsuit has been filed against the city of antioch and dozens of police officers. kron four's philippe has details. >> civil rights attorney john burris says up to half of the antioch police department has been implicated in the ongoing federal and county investigations into a felony bribery and racist text messaging scandal. scandal exposed last year should be no way. >> officer feels they can engage in this type of conduct and not have some significant ramifications in august. the contra costa county district attorney's office filed 6 complaints with the court against officers employed by the antioch and pittsburgh

police departments. >> unjustified shootings, assaults and arrests are among the accusations on thursday. burris and his law firm filed a 3rd civil rights lawsuit related to the scandal against the city of antioch to former police chiefs, interim chief and dozens of police officers. burris says, '03, lawsuits will be combined into one. it includes 20 plaintiffs, at least 25 defendants who are or were sworn officers and possibly up to 100 more listed as john doe's micro damage is is is certainly for the individual. that's not that's the least actors who are really looking for is a finding. >> that doesn't count practice of constitutional violations that exist by this department. and therefore, we want to have a series reforms that move much of the misconduct of the man who was just misconduct has occurred for intends to prove the police department needs institutional controls put in place to ensure officers are following the

law. and this could include a signing a federal monitor to oversee the agency. >> philippe djegal all kron. 4 news. >> now we did reach out to the city of antioch and also the police department to get an update on the response to the lawsuit. but we have not heard back as of yet. well, oakland police are investigating a stabbing that happened just outside of oakland city hall. it happened around 3 o'clock friday afternoon. they say the victim was standing near the front lawn of city hall when a person walked up and stabbed them and then ran away. no other details have been given as of now. oakley, police need your help in finding a car that was involved in a hit and run on a man on a bike. here's a picture of the vehicle that they say hit the man on sunday near bridgehead road and main street officers say they arrested the vehicle's owner, but they still have not been able to find this 2015 toyota camry of him details. they're urging you to contact them. and police in redwood city

arrested a man for allegedly stealing from a car wash, then hiding on the businesses. roof. they say it happened wednesday morning at self-service car wash on woodside road. police say that the mask mandate took something from the business, then tried hiding from police on the roof of the car wash. they say he's been booked into jail this morning. well, there's calls for the oakland mayor to release the names of the 3 finalists for the big get police job that's still available. the naacp has been calling to reinstate former police chief. we're on armstrong and wants to know who the oakland police commission is recommending to be the leader of the city's police department. mayor sheng thao can select from a list of finalists or asked the police commission to give her a new list. oakland has been without a police chief since the mayor fired armstrong back in february of this year october, the police commission said armstrong was among the 7 finalists being recommended. mayor thao said that she would

likely appoint a police chief by the end of the year. alameda police are now warning people and holiday shoppers about thieves trying to swipe their purchases. police say the thieves are even volant people home kron. 4 ella sogomonian has the details. >> it's the most wonderful time of the year, but it can also be a little bit worrisome. alameda police here say that thieves have been targeting shoppers. >> the south shore shopping center is a popular destination for holiday gifts. but alameda police say malls like this also track criminals, especially this time of year. they've already reported people being followed home and robbed after trip to the store. because i just hear about more and more violent things happen. you people have kids with them and that to me, like as a mom makes me really nervous. some people we spoke with had heard about the problem. well, it was news to others. alameda police say that there are a few things to keep in mind. okay. so you're done shopping and you have your bags in hand and are walking to your car.

death. the 22 year-old was shot and killed outside of a walgreens store in vallejo in twenty-twenty. police say an officer thought that he had a gun but it turned out it was a hammer. the california department of justice picked up the case to see if there was enough evidence to charge the officer involved in the crime. and on tuesday, we learned no charges will be filed. the family has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit in response. well, this year, california highway patrol says it seized over 40 pounds of fentanyl in san francisco. that's equivalent to 9 million lethal doses. governor gavin newsom making the announcement friday saying that drugs were picked up in the tenderloin block area. excuse me within 10 block radius of the tenderloin. new task force will be launched in 2024 to investigate opioid deaths and poisoning the city. homeless man who was held out holding up signs advertising free fentanyl outside of a san

francisco school has now been convicted, according to officials. they say that joseph moore held a sign that read, quote, meth for stolen items and quote, free fentanyl for new users across the street from academy, which teaches preschool to 8th grade. he was also accused of blocking access to a sidewalk on 9th avenue with his belongings. a jury found more guilty and willfully and unlawfully committing a public nuisance. he faces up to 6 months in jail and is set to be sentenced next week. well, we continue to track the fentanyl use here in the bay area. you can scan that qr code on your screen right now to get details from the latest stories we have on our friday in san francisco. there was a cease-fire rally in front of the israel consulate. it was organized by code pink in

international antiwar organization. they delivered a cease-fire petition to the council it with thousands of signatures on it. there was also a memorial altar for children that have died in the war. this all comes as the united nations passed a resolution designed to try and increase humanitarian aid over to gaza. the u.s. had blocked previous resolutions calling for a cease-fire, but stepped aside. this time after members agreed to drop cease-fire language from the resolution, which is a change from what some of the un members have criticized when it comes to negotiations between hamas and israel of the 2 sides still have not made much progress. hamas is currently refusing to turn over more hostages until the war is over. well over in the north bay, the county sheriff's office is warning residents about a holiday hopes. they say that fraudsters are pretending to be one of their own reporter. kristin vartan has story.

>> i'm meteorologist brittany begley. let's plan your day at. let's start off with some good news on the saturday as we take a look at radar for us in california. we're looking at drier conditions the first time we're really been able to say that for the past couple of days. we'll continue to watch a coastal right there on the coast until 10 this morning. some minor coastal flooding could be a possibility. so if you have family coming in half moon bay just be on the lookout for minor flooding in where you park your car. the big picture is really going to be about

killed outside of a walgreens store in vallejo back in 2020. police say and officer thought that he had a gun in his hand, turned out to be a hammer. the california department of justice picked up the case to see if there was enough evidence to charge the officer involved with the crime. and tuesday, we learned that no charges will be filed in response, the family has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit. and this year, california highway patrol has seized over 40 pounds of fentanyl in san francisco. that's equivalent to 9 million lethal doses. governor gavin newsom making the announcement friday saying that drugs were picked up in 10 block radius of the tenderloin. now a new task force will be launched in 2024. to investigate opioid link deaths and poisoning in the city. homeless man who held up signs advertising free fentanyl outside of the san francisco school has now been convicted. prosecutors say that joseph moore held signs that read, quote, meth for

christmas, police sending out a press release saying that those ages are in fact, 12 13. it happened at the intersection of west 6th in g street, according to police, the black car in this video was going northbound on g street and broadsided the blue car that you see there. now, the black car did hit a fire hydrant along with the other car. it's currently unclear whether the 12 13 year-old were driving that blue car officers are still investigating the driver of the black car, however, did flee the scene. police say that speed and reckless driving did appear to be the cause of the crash as we get more updates this morning on the situation will continue to give you those developments. well, more breaking news overnight in antioch. one person is now dead after a shooting. it happened around 6.30, last night. police received calls regarding shots being fired on the 800 block of sunset drive. when they arrived on the scene, they found a 26 year-old man with a gunshot wound. the paramedics did pronounce him dead there on the scene. police did

locate the suspect nearby and detained without any incident. the identity of the suspect and the deceased have yet to be released. well, a warning for those living in the richmond area. the contra costa county department of health says it's now found cancer causing chemicals in the soil of the area near a former dry cleaning business. officials are now working to see if there's more in the air and they're testing out those chemicals. kron four's amanda hari has the details. >> scary news for people living in a richmond neighborhood per clow road lean or pce a chemical known to cause cancer has been found in their soil. the first sample found near barrett avenue and 20th street a building that housed multiple dry cleaning businesses between 19, it we're working as quickly as we can to assess the situation and to take the steps necessary. >> to make sure that they're protected. todd sachs is the deputy director of sight mitigation for the california department of toxic substance

assaults and arrests are among the accusations on thursday. burris and his law firm filed a 3rd civil rights lawsuit related to the scandal against the city of antioch to former police chiefs, interim chief and dozens of police officers. burris says, 0, 3 lawsuits will be combined into one. it includes 20 plaintiffs, at least 25 defendants who are or were sworn officers and possibly up to 100 more listed as john doe's micro damage is is is certainly for the individual. that's not that's the i can really looking for is a finding. >> that doesn't count practice of constitutional violations that exist by this department. and therefore, we want to have a series of reforms that move much of the misconduct of the man who was just misconduct has occurred. burris intends to prove the police department needs institutional controls put in place to ensure officers are following the law. and this could include a signing a federal monitor to oversee the agency.

redwood arrested a man for allegedly stealing from a car wash and then hiding on the businesses. roof. they say it happened on wednesday morning at self-service car wash on woodside road. police say the mask man took something from the business, then tried hiding from police and he did so on top of the car wash roof. he, however, has been booked. now in jail. there's calls for oakland mayor to release the names of the 3 finalists for the vacant police chief job. the naacp has been calling to reinstate former police chief armstrong and wants to know who the oakland police commission is going to be recommending for position and the city's department mayor thao can select from a list of finalists or asked the police commission to give her a new list. oakland has been without a police chief since the mayor fired armstrong back in february of this year. back in october, the police to the commission did say that armstrong would be among those that they would be

rob bonta said he would not be filing criminal charges in his death. the 22 year-old was shot and killed outside of a walgreens store in vallejo back in 2020 police say an officer thought that he had a gun and it turned out actually be a hammer. the california department of justice picked up the case to see if there was enough evidence to charge the officer involved with the crime. and on tuesday, we learned that no charges will be filed in response, a family has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit. now this year in california, highway patrol has seized over 40 pounds of fentanyl in san francisco. and that's equivalent to about 9 million lethal doses. governor gavin newsom making the announcement friday saying that the drugs were picked up and a 10 block radius around the tenderloin area. and a new task force will be launched in 2024 to investigate the opioid deaths and poisoning in the city. well, a homeless man who held up signs advertising free fentanyl outside of the san francisco school has now been
