good evening. thank you for joining us on properties at 5. i'm noelle bellow and i'm grant lotus say it is continually getting better but better is a relative term because you still have 10's of thousands of customers. >> without electricity. this is a live look at pg and e's outage map. a lot less orange around the region tonight compared to the past couple. but you still have quite a bit a dish of quite a few issues peninsula up into the north bay. orange indicates between 500 and 5,000 customers in that region are still without po er as a grant was just showing you. lots of folks are dealing with this today and the north bay, still a lot of work to be done some special challenges stretching out the projection when the lights will finally come back on for folks kron four's terisa stasio reports from windsor. >> here in the large field, wiki of neighborhood near santa rosa generators have been up and running since sunday evening when the trees snapped lines wiping out power. the thousands of out of

disruptive, the say the least. but bearable. >> residents say for the most part, they understand the delay. yes, i'm hopefully sooner than later pg e spokesperson mcfarland says all customers do qualify for a credit if their power has been out for more than 48 hours. any time customers are without power due to something like a storm for more than 48 hours, they can qualify for peace. you need safety net program. that's an automatic bill credit credit between 25 and $100. it shows up on your bill within 60 to 120 days of the outage. and that's just, you know, one of the ways that we're trying to support customers foreign during these outages that are due to really intense storms in sonoma county tree says stasio kron. 4 news. >> on the peninsula, the small community on tara is still in the dark tonight. a big fallen trees to blame. there came down on some power lines, causing thousands of pg and e customers to be without electricity for 2 days now pg e

hard to get the lights back on, but they're also running into more issues like more downed trees, flooding in some areas and loose soil. >> and in the east bay, tesla road here in livermore is closed to traffic until further notice. sunday storm caused that huge hole to form along the road. no word on when they get that fixed and when the road will reopen. >> other major news tonight, governor newsom taking a big step toward tackling oakland's rising crime problem calling in reinforcements. the governor has ordered chp officers to be deployed to the town to work with local law enforcement. they're kron four's. tiffany justice reports. >> know the facts business at the end of the day, i mean, the residents in the city don't feel safe. >> on tuesday, governor gavin newsom announcing plans to deploy 120 seats. officers to oakland and the east bay on a temporary basis. the efforts will include specialized units in advance investigative technology to crack down on

crime and improve public safety. the chp officers will work alongside local law enforcement agency focused on criminal activity, including vehicle theft or retail theft in violent crime. newsom's office says it will be a multi pronged approach. ch feel be using license plate readers, canine units and air support when needed with this new search operation. a law enforcement presence in oakland and alameda county will increase by nearly 900%. derrick johnson, a restaurant owner in the jack london business district tells us he's cautiously optimistic about the move, the crime. like i said, it has reached a areas that. >> traditionally hasn't had crime like this after a little make an impact on being cautiously optimistic. i'm like i said that that that caution comes from, like i said, when you have outside forces coming into a community, a lot of times it just culturally tone deaf you know, really how? the city of oakland in oakland is are and how they work. and that really from the community. but i feel

the governor's office is making a strong attempt to understand. >> the governor's office says in 2023 violent crime rose about 21% in oakland robbery increased 38% and vehicle theft spike to 45%. mayor sheng thao says the surge of crime in oakland is unacceptable. know this is really taking backing off of last year when we've asked support from chp bbc, 6 chp officers and a sergeant last year in which they were focused on was convert corridor. and we saw that those numbers in crimes came down. >> and so having the 120 officers not here only in oakland, but east bay regional, it's going to be a game changer. the oakland police officers association agreeing with the move from the governor and is hoping this temporary deployment will last for a while. >> you've got to look at our agency at one point, a little over 800 police officers our city. but since the facing up

some of the reasons bloom room will close for good tomorrow at 6 o'clock at night. until then, the entire store is 30% off. they're pacifica location, by the way, will stay open. >> new at 5, another bay area tech company announcing layoffs today. san francisco based docu sign is laying off about 400 of its employees. the company says the job cuts are part of its restructuring plan. the electronic signature company says a majority of layoffs will be and its sales and marketing divisions. >> all right. let's take a live peek outside here on a tuesday night. beautiful day in the bay and ice dry out day as we've had a lot of sunshine and some beautiful a billowy clouds in the sky. it felt nice in the sun today. i have to say lawrence karnow is here with details on how long this will last. i say it feels calm out there right now. but things going to change again. we've got. >> yet another storm system headed our way, not even close to a strong as the one we had over the weekend. but right

now we're enjoying that kyle moment to outside right now. you've got some high clouds around parts of the bay area looking good out toward, quote, our the right now, not much in the way of wind out there either. but yeah, things are going to begin to change again. i think as early as tonight as will see some rain clouds begin to move in late tonight and early tomorrow morning. now the storm systems along the coastline still generating some big serve up toward the beaches. so some strong rip currents out there as waves really just continue to pound much of the coastline that will continue through the night tonight and inc tomorrow morning. but even after that, things look like they'll stay rough along the coastline, right? here's the latest. look at the satellite radar image. and you can see all that rain continue to move across the state. southern california has really been under the gun here as they've seen over a foot of rain in some parts of southern california. showers continuing outside right now beginning to taper off a bit. even in southern california. they've some rain continuing there, but looks like things are beginning to slow down a little bit anyway. snow continuing to fall in the sierra nevada, a few widely

dollars of taxpayer money. public money from going to the ballpark project there in vegas. come first. and carmen joins us now live in the studio with the latest on everything there. hey, dan, you know, very few a's fans expected to wake up this morning and find the mayor of las vegas was on their side. but that's what happened in this podcast interview. she says she believes the day's owner, john fisher really wants to keep the a's in oakland at a waterfront ballpark and she thinks. >> that's what should happen. it's here on the side of the tropicana hotel in las vegas that the oakland a's intend to build a new 1.5 billion dollar stadium, assuming they can get additional financing. but in an interview on the front office sports today, podcast las vegas mayor carolyn goodman suggested the a's reconsider. >> i personally think it got to figure out a way to stay in oakland to make i agree with i think that they need to figure out how stay in oakland, oakland, mayor sheng thao says

to football now are forty-niners fans are known as the faithful but one san francisco man has really taken that to heart fan went to his first game more yea ago when he was his and today kron four's out this bit caught up with this guy has a legitimate claim to tye title. number one, up grand. well, he's got a plaque to prove it. martin jacobs went to his first 49 ers game in 1952. he hasn't just been a fan of the team, but also an employee working several jobs for a chance to see his favorite players up close and personal. >> forty-niners has been my life in san francisco sunset neighborhood. you'll find one of the most unique collections of forty-niners memorabilia. yes, this is a cushion that was distributed for a quarter collected by martin jacobs who started working for the football team when he was just 9 years old. picking up cushions from the stands of the old keys are stadium after each game, but he didn't stop there. he worked as a man's

assistant and then a food vendor as a teenager i sold ice cream might say yummy. yummy. good for your tummy. his love for the team did not stop into adulthood. opening up 5 stores called the sport's top 60's 70's 80's 90's. after the store's jacob spend his retirement writing 9 books on his favorite team. i didn't want to unmask going any keys are the forty-niners may have become his livelihood, but he's never lost sight of what made him a fan in the first place. and you go to the game and they win the last minute or a come from behind. it just makes my day is just like a high like it can imagine. even has a number one fan plaque to prove his devotion awarded to him by a national contest put on by visa in 2000 will brown. was the mayor then at 80 years-old, jacobs has been to more than 1200 games collecting autographs from the players and meeting his fair share of celebrities. at bob hope, bing crosby and has a pretty good sense of humor about how he's put the nfl team ahead of others. i've been divorced twice and one wife said you love joe montana

more than her. it's safe to say that few fans are looking forward to sunday's super bowl matchup more than this fan. what's his secret to staying faithful to the red and gold for 71 years. you can't lose hope rain, shine win or lose. i would say 99% of the fans today just look at it as entertainment. jacobs has no doubt, of course, that the forty-niners will come away with a win on sunday, getting a lot of credit to the momentum gained the team's comeback win against detroit. >> but aside from the game, of course, there are all paying attention on sunday. i just think the long history of past games that he has knowledge of really fascinates me. i mean, all those books losing a wife over so dedication more on that like that. even he said he called one of he said he's a call. one of the wives to let them know that he was going on tv today. so they snow there. you know, it's it was so cool to see his
