the postseason. so their numbers both are really good. we'll start with brock because, you go niner nation. he is the top rated passer in the league for the very first time, even though he was the last pick in the 2022. nfl draft party has proven to be a lot more than just a game manager. he mister relevant, making himself very relevant in the post season >> also we have patrick mahomes. he already has 2 rings. he's looking to add a 3rd. he is a beast when it comes to the postseason, he has led a five-game winning drives and for 4th quarter comebacks in his short career and during tuesday's media session, both teams wanted to make sure that people know how much they bring to the team's what they provide as leaders. they're saying they do a lot more. then what they do just on the field. but it's what they do off the field. that counts just as much as well. >> rock is so and you don't.

through today. yeah. and then the weekend job. yeah. the he's so nice. what a change from last weekend. especially last sunday. >> this sunday for the game. things are going to be calm clear. get out to the yard barbecue and don't worry about it. today's kind of the last day that you've got to worry about just a little bit as we do have some stormy weather on its way. those clouds look at little ominous over san francisco right now. and we are seeing a few light showers drifting over the bay currently most of that heavy rainfall is still concentrated several hours up to the north right around humboldt county. now i'm going zoom in on a few spots in the bay that we are actively seeing some showers. and that includes san francisco with some light shower activity. right now. it's nothing super heavy. same on up the east bay shoreline through richmond and on up through the late in american canyon. overall, this is going to get roadways a little bit slick and wet, but it's nothing like what we've got later this morning. a few light showers as well for the south bay, sunnyvale on towards the dumbarton bridge.

you can see the timing of this rainfall arriving in the north bay towards 08:00am so only about an hour hour and a half away for a lot of the north bay, 9 to 10 for the rest of the bay area and moving through fairly quickly into the afternoon. spotty showers for the remainder of today. 40's 50's for most of our current temps, although a few spots like dublin as well as lead to down in the upper 30's. right now, oakland in sf here in the low 50's currently later today. watch out for those isolated showers this afternoon and some heavier rainfall late this morning. great. all right, john, thank you for that. already starting to bill at the bay bridge. you can see traffic at the toll plaza. >> 17 minute ride for everybody headed into the city this morning to make it to at least at fremont street exit. you have a traffic hazard on the san mateo bridge, some debris in the lanes. you can see crews already trying to get that off of the bridge 5 times about 19 minutes, 8.80, to 101. hopefully they're able to get off the bridge pretty quickly. here things will go up. bridges that were built bridge around 14 minutes. accidents there. and the golden gate bridge. 37 to the

tolls. 24 reaches back to you. thank you. reyna 76 in the south bay, san jose trying to crack down on catalytic and birth they are. the city council has just passed stricter penalties and kron four's. michael thomas explains what they are. >> san jose officials hope that this proposed changes will essentially make criminals think twice before stealing catalytic converters, saying that this is an issue they've been dealing with since the beginning of the pandemic. take a look. this is general video. we've got up on your screen when it comes to those changes. will they were unanimously approved by the full city council last night and will enact a higher schedule of fines and a longer time frame a violation for the possession of unlawful catalytic converters council members say the cost of replacing one of these catalytic converters. it's just beyond a reasonable for any working class person adding that last year alone, the city of san jose saw around 836 people report their catalytic converter stolen. many who say that they had to pay anywhere from one to $3,000 for an insurance deductible, adding that the

goal of this policy is to send a clear message that that if you still from the working class, the full force of the law will come down on you. the group goes on to say that they do hope that these changes help san jose pd when it comes to the details of when they go into full effect of well, i did reach out to them this morning. im still waiting to hear back in san jose. michael thomas kron. 4 news. thanks a lot, mike. 77 right now and there are questions again about driverless cars because a waymo was involved. >> in a bump into a bicycle in san francisco. yeah, it says a new incident and as a result, one city supervisor is questioning the public safety of these autonomous cars and conference will tran is in the city for us this morning with the latest on the story. well, me show you a map with the location where it all went down at around 3 o'clock

yesterday afternoon. it was in the patrol hill area at 17th and mississippi. now this happened with 3 parties involved. we're talking the driverless waymo car, a garbage truck in the cyclist, according to waymo the driverless car waited until the garbage truck went through the intersection, but they claim the cyclist was right behind the garbage truck and therefore blocked the view of the cameras of the waymo car. the waymo car at the very last second spotted the cyclists slammed on the brakes. but by then it was too late. the cyclists and the waymo driver, the waymo car hit each other. waymo says for now it appears the cyclist was the one who hit waymo and then the cyclist? well, we haven't heard from that particular person, but it has. and the mission to driverless cars and the controversy behind that almost immediately shamann walton. he's a supervisor with san francisco. he took to

facebook. >> and he said driverless waymo vehicle struck a bike, select a cyclist at 17th and mississippi. so much for safety, obviously being very department to say. and so far the investigation is ongoing. back to you. all right. way you like they it is raining. double duty on the hood up. thank you. well. >> all right, 7, 0, 9, 10. >> and union city police have identified 2 people in a shooting that happened that injured alameda county sheriff's deputy last month. michael door thick and was at chan were found dead after a daylong standoff after this shooting. that happened. it was all on january 24th in the warehouse district along dowe avenue near alvarado niles road. that's where a deputy went to serve. any vick's

haute us. but when he went to serve that notice, shot was fired at him. he was hit in the arm and then the standoff after several attempts to negotiate police eventually moved in. and that's when they found the 2 dead inside what appeared to be self-inflicted gunshot wounds. investigators have not told us what the relationship with those 2 was. but we also learned the deputy was injured is recovering at home now. and the alameda county sheriff's department sent this picture to us. it shows the deputies and members of law enforcement agencies greeting that deputy when he was discharged from the hospital. >> we're going to take a break here. 7.11, but still ahead on the kron, 4 morning news, a san francisco man says that he is the niners number one fan. we're going to hear how his love for the red and gold started all those years ago. do you have any of these products in your kitchen? if you do, you're going throw him out. we'll have a complete look at this recall. coming up. and after the break, we're

had yesterday home. it is. yeah, light rainfall for now. sitting at the embarcadero cruise ship right there. some light showers making its way down into the bay. we are seeing finally calmer conditions for la. but this next system, it's a cold front. it's tearing our direction. the heavier rainfall that's still to our north. but we are seeing some introductory bands now working their way into the bay area. light showers in sf down into the northern end of the peninsula. marin county bridges, such as the golden gate and bay and richmond center fell as well as parts of alameda on up through richmond and vallejo. these are all your area seeing some light showers right now. a few sprinkles in san jose. it is enough to get roadways wet. so certainly slow your roll a little bit as you're getting outside. really? it's after the morning commute winds down, though that the cold front steers its way through. that's when winds are going to get breezier and rainfall is going to get heavier. this is what we're seeing right now. this first band coming right on through next band moves through the north bay, starting at 08:00am to 09:00am

and then 09:00am to 10:00am for the rest of us. this is the one that packs the punch right here, yellow to orange indicating heavier areas of rain. again, this is after the morning commute is wound down. your hopefully all settled in indoors. so you can take it a little easier. is this real storm makes its way through. it is going to hang out with this towards the noon hour. pockets of rain after that point for the next several hours, looks like we'll start to catch a break around 03:00pm to 04:00pm, which just a few inland showers beyond that point tonight looks dry tomorrow afternoon may see some isolated showers popping up. kind of like what we had yesterday, which overall very calm day friday through sunday for the game. all looking nice and dry. so we've got several dry days ahead of us after today. really, futurecast rainfall totals a quarter of an inch to half an inch of rainfall expected. winds are calm right now will pick up to around 40 miles per hour. gusts this afternoon. that's nothing like it was on sunday. but for trees that are already weakened may be susceptible to

falling. so keep an eye, especially on trees that you might be questioning have a little lean or something future cast of rainfall totals are going to be pretty light. but the sierra does see a good dose of snow around a foot to a foot and a half. this is going to be solid just enough to get some powder on the slopes, but not too much to close anything down up there. as for high temperatures today, we are going to be in the mid 50's a cool afternoon for sure. after today we'll see temperatures beginning to climb and by saturday and sunday for the game, it's back to the 60's and under sunny dry skies, right? all right, john, thank you for that. just an accident. clear off of 80 in emeryville. >> so drive times went up a little bit. there. 27 minutes traveling from crockett down towards the maze. be mindful as soon as you do, hit the may's heading into the city. it can take about 22 minutes last summer at 18 minutes. so drive times are gone up just a little bit. there. we had a traffic hazard on the san mateo bridge. last time we saw they were just trying to get it off. looks like they got removed was some debris in the

panels fell from the roof to the ground. some hitting the stained glass windows on their way down. thankfully, nobody was hurt. and as the rain fell sunday, voluneeers gathered there at the church to try to fix the damage. >> so i came down here. there are about 20 people from church that where they're putting plastic out, putting buckets out draining water off the tarps, trying to keep the pews, the him knowles, the carpet dry and we get a pretty good job. >> the congregation worked to patch up the roof ahead of more rain that's expected today. for now. sunday service is set to be held in the church's gymnasium. >> in marin county pg and e had to use a helicopter. >> to deliver replacement power poles. look at this. a lot of people in that area that working on have been without power since sunday's big storm pg. and e has been doing this because some of the areas are very challenging the rural areas. hard to get to. so in this case is quite a

sight. seeing a an airlift of a power pole to get power back on there and all along the peninsula.%this small community on tara, they're still in the dark because of this. wow, that's a big tree that fell onto a power line or few lines. there that caused thousands of customers to lose their electricity. and it's been days. crews have been still working to get the lights back on. they are running into some issues like more downed trees and flooding that they have had to deal with. so if there's a delay and that's why. >> 7.21 is the time it happening tonight. the san francisco board of appeals is set to hold a hearing that could reopen the great highway to vehicles once again was back in 2022. that the board voted 92 to keep it car free until 2025. that thoroughfare first became car free during the 2 covid-19 lockdowns. everybody seemed to like it. san francisco voters in fact, had the opportunity to reopen that highway to cars on the weekends. but they rejected that at the ballot box. it was

now investigating vandalism at a high school where hate graffiti was written on the walls throughout the school. this was it. christopher high school. happened monday night. police say 3 suspects also ransacked multiple classrooms. they're still looking for them. so if you have any information about this, you're asked to contact gilroy. police. in the north bay police in fairfield have arrested a 15 year-old boy on suspicion of creating a swatting response that cause schools to go into lockdown for several hours last week. friday vanden high school and to other campuses were placed on lockdown after police received a call that someone at vanden had a gun. police say they suspected at the time the call might be an attempt at swatting and investigation was carried out by the school's resource officer. and that's what led to the idea of this 15 year-old vanden student as the suspect. and on tuesday, officers arrested that boy at his home. he's now been booked into juvenile hall. >> it's 7.26 and another bay area tech company is laying off workers. san francisco based docu sign is cutting

>> 7.29 and rain is falling again. it is today's another wet one before a fantastic weekend ahead. yeah, super bowl morning, john. the we've got the super bowl this weekend which is going to be perfect weather for. so as you're stepping outside of saying, it's so dreary again, just think this weekend is going to be so beautiful. you're look outside at san francisco, not just looking cloudy. we have seen some showers out there making their way across the bay and including across the city, our heaviest of rainfall is still very concentrated well to the north of the bay up and mendocino and humboldt counties, especially. but we

are seeing some decent rainfall coming down in the midst of the bay currently and starting with san francisco seeing some light to moderate showers right now. heaviest of rainfall is actually right over oakland and highway. 24 crossing into the oakland and berkeley hills up towards or in the moroccan lafayette, alameda, you're getting it up to richmond, san pablo and eventually up a. also in the midst of it, these showers are generally spreading a little bit further inland. so conquered walnut creek, san ramon, your next on the list and a little bit further south san mateo is starting to see some light showers picking up. now, south bay are also getting just a few light sprinkles at this moment. rainfall. this is just a precursor to the real stuff that's on its way towards 8, 9, to 10:00am this morning. so here in just an hour or 2 more and more of its going to come down and rather stormy to be finishing out the morning into the early afternoon 40's to 50's for current temperatures. it's a cold morning. in fact, snow level is falling to 4,000 feet in elevation. so you're

5 marines on board is missing cal fire and the san diego county sheriff started searching for the chopper about 2.30 this morning. they got a report that it didn't show up to its destination. yeah. the u.s. marine corps says the helicopter left from creech air force base in in dm. >> indian springs, nevada. it yesterday was headed to the marine corps air station miramar there in san diego. it's about 50 miles north of the city. cal fire says it was last reported in the area. well, north of interstate 8, which is southeast of pine valley. it's about 35 miles east of downtown san diego. they say air crews are searching right now, but the areas covered in snow and that's making it hard to access. we'll keep you updated as hopefully they discover where this helicopter. and i mean that like we said 02:30am in the morning. so they've been looking in the dark. >> 7.33. right now on update. now, this is a story we first told you about earlier this week were 100 california highway patrol officers are

now in oakland. they've been deployed by the governor to crack down on crime governor newsom hoping this will help bring down the numbers of violent crime, retail thefts, things that we've been having >> to really struggle with here in these past few months. congressman harry has the story. >> the governor's office, california highway patrol and the city of oakland are now working together to curb crime and violence in oakland, 120 chp officers from throughout the 9 bay area. counties have been assigned to the town. councilmember dan kalb says he believes the officers will help deter criminals will help fill in the gaps in and patrol and be visible. >> and to help deter crime and if they see a crime, they'll take action. called says one area the officers will be focusing on is traffic control. some of them will and force a serious traffic laws like if they see someone who's, you recklessly speeding and danger now stop them and give them a ticket and that will deter speeding, reckless driving. oakland mayor sheng thao says she's seen in the

past that additional help from chp. >> can make a big difference. this is really taking backing off of last year when we've asked support from chp bbc, 6 chp officers and a sergeant. >> last year in with a were focused on was convert corridor. and we saw that those numbers in crimes can down. the deployment will include specialized units equipped with advanced investigation, technology to improve public safety. it includes license plate reader technology, canine units and air support councilmember noel gallo says it all sounds great, but leaders need to make sure it happens. we get a lot of promises, a lot of commitments, but >> they don't transpire immediately. and we have to sitting here waiting and waiting. >> that was amanda harry reporting. the officers are just temporarily stationed in oakland. but at this point, there is no end date for the deployment. >> more than 20 cars were burglarized in a single night along a street in south san francisco. it happened monday night on gateway boulevard near the hilton garden inn.

that is where so many people started calling, saying that their cars have been burglarized in. the police came out. they found more than 20 cars on that street have been broken into. >> san francisco city attorney david chiu says that he has suspended a handful of tow truck companies from doing business with the city over alleged illegal activities. so says one of those companies called auto towing illegally towed cars from a private parking lot limited. the times of these vehicles could be retrieved and pressured owners to give them cash to get their cars back in the east bay police in alameda. now we're going residents about scammers posing as cable or electric company workers. they say before letting anybody into your home, you should ask for identification and don't be shy about calling the company or organization that they claim to be with just verify that there is, in fact, a crew at your house. police say it's ok to ask the person to leave while you verify that information.

they close. they're keeping their tell you, keep your eye out because they're going to pop up events in the future. the last performance, though, at asia sf is going to happen on trans visibility day, which is march 31st. >> well, the drama continues in las vegas with the oakland a's. in fact, the mayor of las vegas is apparently against the team moving in an ,pinterview on the front office sports today podcast las vegas mayor carolyn goodman actually criticize the a's plans to build a new stadium there in the site of the tropicana hotel hotels on the strip. and as you can imagine, that would cause a lot of foot and car traffic well beyond what they have right now. and goodman said in this podcast, quote, they've got to figure out a way to stay in oakland and make their dream come true and quote, oakland mayor sheng tank responded. sheng thao responded to that by saying her door is still open to the a's. >> agree with i think that they need figure out how stay

from anything you find suspected all what we got out there right now at the embarcadero is already a little wet conditions. you can see some showers rolling over the bay currently la. just a quick note. finally, a dry morning. we have our cold front. that's about to be pushing through in advance of this. we have a forward line of showers that right now is starting to move out of san francisco down peninsula and into the east bay, seeing some shower activity picking back up in northern sonoma county right now, some of our heavier areas of rainfall is actually center director around the bay bridge toll plaza. and then in the hills just above oakland, as you get past month, they're up there, conquer down to walnut creek, starting to see some light sprinkles. highway 4 from concord, out towards martinez. eventually toward san pablo. also looking at some light showers, same into portions of solano county o see it picking up too. cold front dies in this morning. and along with that comes this heavy rush of rain and some stronger winds here in a little bit as well. this is

that forwardaline of showers that is currently working its way through. this is the one that's really going to provide the risk for us and really moves through here in about an hour or 2, depending on where you're at mostly 9 to 10:00am across the bay, yellow, orange and red. you know, those heavier pockets of rain. when you see i'm rolling on through, we will see it all the way through the noon hour. starting to see some breaks in the rain after that early afternoon, spotty showers and generally getting calmer by the late afternoon today. tonight should be a fairly calm evening tomorrow, a slim chance of a sprinkle or 2, but not a whole lot. and then friday through the weekend, you are smooth sailing. i mentioned how much rainfall we're going to be seeing. no risk of flooding anywhere between a quarter of an inch to a half an inch of rainfall. today. worst really is the risk of some stronger winds, 40 miles per hour gust pushing over some already damaged or weakened trees. so again, keep a close eye on those taller trees, especially those eucalyptus snow fall totals. we will be looking at another foot to foot and a half by the end of the week. love to see
