grateful to be alive tonight after a tree crashed onto their home during sunday's storm. essentially splitting it in half. thank you for joining me here on kron. 4 news at 11. i'm noelle bellow. you can see the damage right here. the tree literally cut right through the home. it also nearly had a child sleeping inside, but thankfully no one got hurt. kron 4 sarah stinson has more from the family. high winds likely caused this tree to come crashing down from one side of the street all the way to the other. >> first crashing into this truck and then onto this home in napa next to a 6 year-old girl sleeping on the couch. >> it was the loudest boom. in the whole house shook, the roscoe family woke up to a tree crashing down on their home on franklin street in napa around 5 sunday morning. jane rasco says she was trapped on one side of the house. her husband and granddaughter on the other. so immediately i yelled to find

out if they were okay and my husband was yelling from the other side to make sure i was ok, the tree landed within 2 feet of her 6 year-old granddaughter miraculously, she was not hurt roscoe and her husband also, okay. you know, you can see all those what ifs, but i am absolutely sure that god was watching over us watching over my granddaughter, watching my husband watching over rasco says they called 9-1-1 and firefighters helped rescue them from the house. rasco says the community has been very supportive there. currently staying with a friend from church. and this is not the first time the roscoe's have lost a home. their house burned down in the tubbs fire back in 2017. so this is not her first brush with adversity. but in that case we could see it coming. you know, we knew it was coming. so we have time to pack. this one is very different. every day is a blessing. every day is a gift. >> this massive trees being removed from the home on thursday. the owner of the house says the city is removing 3 other tr es from

the street to make sure that this doesn't happen again. i'm sara stinson reporting in napa kron. 4 news. incredible story there. sarah, thank you. problems are still popping up. >> following last sunday's storm in lafayette pg and e crews had to clear away a tree that fell on some power lines. this is along solano drive at hamlin road. it's about a mile from lafayette elementary school. definitely some serious damage there in san francisco, crews had to patch up a sinkhole in the mission today. this video from the citizen app showing the whole on 14th street near guerrero. looks like that mazda there got its tires blown out due to that sinkhole. police say no one was hurt. here are the latest pg e outage. numbers outages have been going on since sunday. as of 10 o'clock tonight, a little more than 15,000 customers are still in the dark across the bay area. the north bay still dealing with most of the outages. more

than 9500 customers are without power. tonight. south bay has about 3700 customers without power. the peninsula, 1500 san francisco and the east bay have the fewest number of outages at around 200. but if you've had your power out since sunday, starting to get a little old, let's get you a check of your forecast now taking a live look at the san mateo bridge. things looking smooth out there. pretty calm. it is windy and chilly, though, lawrence. after a we've got some rain earlier today to nice little rain moving through the bay area. this really >> helpful rain. but still we have some gusty winds to go along with that some 30, even some 40 mile an hour gusts outside. those winds continue to blow just a bit. skies begin to park. the storm is winding down now outside and well for the most part going to come to an end overnight tonight. but we did have some decent rainfall totals. so we had just about 3 quarters an inch in hayward, dublin, over half an inch over half an inch in san jose. almost a half an inch in oakland and san francisco and just over half an inch in pacifica. well,

this storm system working its way all the way into southern california. lots of snow over the sierra nevada, the bay area begin to dry out a bit, although we've got some lingering showers, you can see that one pop-up shower as you make your way in along the peninsula toward the elder not to happen. baymont hair, a beach. they're stormy weather moving through right now. but that we'll come to an end soon. and then we're going to clear things out. but the winds, yeah, they've been blown pretty well. they continue to blow some 20 mile an hour. plus, winds around the bay area now. but overnight, those winds going to subside that cold air going to settle. in fact, it's getting chilly out. there are already some spots in the north bay. rd sneaking down into the 30's. >> lawrence, thank you. a big story out of oakland tonight fired police chief leronne armstrong has filed a lawsuit against the city and mayor sheng thao alleging he was wrongfully terminated. its been almost a year since the chief was fired by at the time knew mayor sheng thao. armstrong believes he was fired for speaking out against

a federal monitor who has been overseeing the police department. >> his termination really had nothing to do with whether he did anything wrong with as a chief. actually committed the misconduct was actually terminated. just because you have the courage to point out the monitor waslleveling unfair criticisms that opd and leadership. >> recently, mayor thao has been referring all questions about the firing to the city attorney's office. however, on the day she fired armstrong nearly a year ago, she did reference the federal investigator attorney michael cardoza has reviewed the claim. he says the city of oakland should consider settling and fast. >> i think they've got a strong case here, quite frankly, the mayor should have waited for a vet in a full vetting of the case. a full investigation of this case before she fired. >> this is not the first time a fired oakland police chief has sued the city of oakland and kirkpatrick who served as

chief from 2017 to 2020 also filed a wrongful termination suit and one. meantime, the oakland police department has fired a probation officer over social media posts made nearly 12 years ago. those posts are described as a series of racist, bigoted and derogatory statements. police say they became aware of those post last friday they launched an internal affairs investigation and decided to fire that officer oakland police say racism and bigotry are contrary to their core values. san jose business owner has been arrested after police say he was selling drugs out of his business. take a look. police say they found this pink powder at the business and the man's home. they say the powder is known as pink cocaine or pink panther. it's a mixture of several drugs, including ketamine, meth and cocaine. police did not name the business but said it's a long blossom hill road just off of highway. 85. the proposed public bathroom in

san francisco's know we've ali is now estimated to cost $300,000. project leaders releasing what this new bathroom would look like last year when the original estimate was 1.7 million city announcing today a donation of $425,000 of prefabricated unit and labor helped to bring down the total cost of the project. the restroom set to be installed late summer. we're now just 4 days away from super bowl sunday when the niners kickoff against the chiefs in las vegas. san francisco's mission district is expected to be one of the liveliest neighborhoods in the bay area. kron four's dan thorn joining us live in the city tonight after speaking with the business owner who is getting ready for what likely will be a wild night. dan, what's going on? >> yeah, no. well, people really love to party in the mission district, especially when their team is doing really well. city officials know that name sort of tried

to mitigate the chaos as best as they could and some mission district down. businesses say they love that. the neighborhood comes alive during these times, but they also want people to be safe. >> the mission is often the place to be when a bay area team is on a championship local businesses say it's great to have a happening neighborhood for super bowl sunday, but hopefully things do not get too crazy. and the mission does get rowdy. but i don't necessarily think it's anything to be concerned chase johnson is general manager of elixir saloon on 16th in guerrero. he says the mission has a deep connection to bay area sports teams and is expecting a fun crowd on sunday. a group of the i've seen the warriors win championships have seen that. giants take it all the i remember the 49 ers 2 super bowls. i think this a fantastic time neighborhood venue. the chapel is hosting a huge watch party for super bowl sunday. we're the game on

they're really going to close off those off-ramps and also limit traffic along those same streets in the mission district. but one thing is for sure. and you can expect the fans to be packing the neighborhood this weekend as the forty-niners look to avenge their 2020 super bowl loss against the kansas city chiefs. noel, back to you. yeah, no shortage of fun out there. dan, thank you. one forty-niners super fan. >> is going to be cheering on the red and gold in las vegas on sunday. a bay area native rusty hampton. >> that's him. he's been a fan all his life. he was at the 2020 super bowl with his dad when the niners face the chiefs. unfortunately, they lost that game. he doesn't want to see that again. we don't know exactly how much he paid for this year's super bowl ticket, but he says he bought his tickets after the niners beat the detroit lions in the nfc championship. by then ticket prices were already in the thousands. so you can only imagine, but according to hampton, the super bowl isn't just a game. it's an experience.

>> one of the showcase cunard cruise ships has been getting a lot of attention. some of it, though, for the wrong reason. the queen victoria was docked in san francisco for the last couple of days with 139 of its passengers suffering from gastrointestinal problems. while the cdc and the cruise line haven't officially announced a cause. local infectious disease expert doctor peter chin. hong says the answer is pretty obvious. >> yes, it is very likely

going to be no virus. norovirus is a virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea and you can have person-to-person transmission very famous for happening on cruise ships where large numbers of people get together and prime conditions share a lot utensils, food, et cetera, apart from being very uncomfortable. fortunately, norovirus dozen results in a lot of people dying does have a high mortality rate. >> the cdc is monitoring the problem remotely. the queen. victoria did leave san francisco around 8 o'clock tonight. it is headed for hawaii. 2 people are behind bars in san jose tied to more than 70 retail crime. that's in the bay area. police say 46 year-old jaime flores and 37 year-old thomas. some pinot so targeted stores like nike best buy and target since last july. stealing more than $75,000 worth of merchandise.

nonprofit mare island historic park foundation to ensure its preservation. meantime, power's back on at cal state east bay. the campus in hayward lost power following sunday's storm at to keep the campus closed for half the week. many classes were done online. but with power, finally back to school says all in-person classes are resuming tomorrow. let's get your check of your 4 zone forecast. taking a live look at i-80 up at donner seems that trucks of move the snow off the highway there, lawrence is here. he's got a little bit more detail just how much snow they've received. it's been a lot yeah, some of the resort's over the last few days feet of snow. >> and it continues to fall up there tonight. so travel a pretty tough. in fact, on the roads there. they're chain up both on 50 and also on 80 is are seen more snow falling across the sierra nevada. fact. >> last couple weeks have just been amazing in the high country. last couple storms really incredible. a winter weather advisory in effect

until 4 o'clock in the morning on thursday. the snow continuing to fall, though it's begin to taper off just a bit. but look what's happened as far as our totals in the sierra just a couple weeks ago, we're about 30% of normal. how about this now or 52% normal in northern sierra nevada, the central sierra now at 73% of normal. and the southern sierra nevada, 68% of normal. so really good shot in the arm with all the snow out there. showers tapering off. now. chilly temperatures settling in tomorrow. partly cloudy. i think still a slight chance showers by the afternoon, but dry out as we head in toward the weekend tonight, it's going to get cold. we'll see your skies clearing out. here we go. we've already got some 30 showing up in the north bay is going to drop down to about 34 near freezing in santa rosa by tomorrow morning. 37 in concord and 37. little more 30's and 40's, even inside the bay storm system winding down, headed down to southern california, brings more rain. they're back some more heavy rain pushing across some saturated ground and that giving rights more flood warnings and watches out there continuing around much los angeles area. so watching for

that tonight and it's tomorrow morning and then they're going to get a much-needed break as well. still a few scattered pop up showers around the bay area, one on the peninsula there. but things start to move south now as it moves on out quiet down, high-pressure going to try and sneak in here, but not before we see least another slight chance of a few showers are think by tomorrow afternoon. all right. you see it here in the forecast models we head through the night tonight. your skies start to clear out as we look toward tomorrow morning should be dry commute early on tomorrow. but then by the afternoon and those clouds start to gather again just a bit. pop-up showers, maybe over the mountain top. so watch out for that. but overall, looks like these temperatures are going stay on the cool side. we should begin to dry things out a little bit tomorrow. then dry weather looks like it'll make return friday. looking good. the weekend looking great. we won't start talking about rai- again. i think until next friday, i think everybody's going to be pretty happy about yeah, we haven't seen all 7 days of sunshine. listen, game that safeway will barely talk to me said now. yeah. so sorry. sunshine. sorry, day here you go. he's getting

flood. things ok. >> well, as we count down to minors, big game this sunday, we've been meeting all kinds of superfans this week. tonight. we say hello a 90 year-old fan. >> she's been a faithful since 1971. kron four's amanda hari sat down with her to talk about her predictions for this year. >> 90 year-old martha camp has been building her san francisco forty-niners collection for more than half of her life. and while she's had to downsize since moving into brookdale senior living in redwood city, she kept her favorites like this. bear from her daughter. it went through every super camp on attended all 5 of the niners super bowl victories. did you have it when they've lost? right. haha. >> you're not concerned that trend is going to continue know it's got great. camp honor was a season ticket holder for the team's entire tenure at candlestick park in that time, she only missed 5 games my son and my husband.

unlv, soggy field, soft grass. meanwhile, the chiefs are over at the raiders indoor practice facility, but they were out there today. basking in the sun and getting the job done. kyle shanahan said it wasn't worth it to him to change the team's practice schedule in order to move over to the raiders practice facility. i asked a couple of the players today what they're still hoping to accomplish this week with a couple more practice days left before the super bowl. here's what they had to say. we put our game plan and last week before we got here. so >> put a little bit more in this morning. so it just kind of this crews get ready for sunday. >> you can always get is something. so i'm glad the playoffs. we have a really big into the body someone like we know we can pursue play harder like the defense have. you know, we had a a few lapses and pursued effort on some peso this week impacted everybody trying to make it a point to get to the ball. everybody like all 11 on the field. just trying to get to the ballroom floor. you know, i just played we played kind of let 1000 down a little bit postseason, we haven't been living up. no. so i stand and
