improvement because 5 times drop. 31 minutes. 37 to the tolls. all right. james, back to you. thanks. a lot of >> well, breaking news this morning, governor gavin newsom and california attorney general rob bonta now stepping up their efforts to combat crime in the east bay. they say the california department of justice is going to deploy states attorneys to help prosecute criminals covers will. tran is live in the alameda county ariminals, obviously the next step is to try to prosecute them. and that is exactly what the governor as well as state attorney general rob bonta what they want to do. so as far as the first step catching

the criminals involved in violent crimes. retail theft, property crimes, burglary, catch them and make sure if they are guilty that they stay in prison. but of course, for that to happen yet, have to find them guilty for that to happen. you need prosecutors and that's exactly what the state is going to do. as far the second approach deploy deputy assistant generals, 2 out alameda county to work with pamela price district attorney pamela price, who is on board with this? who is okay with the partnership. it's going ro add more resources to her office and other offices throughout alameda county to try to prosecute the people that they end catching. take a look at your screen, rob bonta, the attorney general. he is in conjunction with this and he says in a way this is quite personal to him. he says the east bay is my home and i'm committed to ensuring that the people of oakland can live and work in a safe community. i

welcome partnership. >> to ensure that justice is done so that open this will kick off in a couple of days from now. james all right. thanks a lot. well. >> time now is 903. we have more breaking news this morning. police are right now investigating a deadly pedestrian hit and run. >> in the city's south of market neighborhood, it happened along the 500 block of 6th street. that's where police say they found a pedestrian in the street suffering from life-threatening injuries. that victim sadly died at the scene. officers say the vehicle that struck that person drove away. so they're still looking for that driver right now. the area of bryant and 6th street will stay closed while they conduct their investigation. so expect delays or avoid the area. if you can. >> its 904. and the oakland

police department fired a probation officer over social media post that were made 12 years ago. the posts are described as racist, bigoted and derogatory statements. police became aware of the post last friday they launched an internal affairs investigation and decided to fire the officer. oakland police say that racism and bigotry are contrary to their core values. >> will san jose police have arrested 2 people they believe were behind more than 70 retail crime thefts in the bay area. so investigators say the jamie flores and thomas sopa know so targeted stores like nike and best buy and target since last july, stealing upwards of $75,000 worth of merchandise. police say they were able to make these arrests. thanks to a grant to combat retail theft crime, a grant they received from the state. >> they go in courtney that they had a vehicle waiting for go in there. you know what, we're going to grab. obviously

air force base, which is in northwest las vegas. the chopper was discovered yesterday morning near pine valley about an hour outside of san diego. and right now they are recovering the remains of those marines who were killed. >> did you see this big cruise ship in san francisco? the canard cruise ship? it got a lot of attention, but for the wrong reason is because so many passengers, we're sick. the queen victoria was docked in sai francisco it was that the last couple of days they found out 139 passengers had gastrointestinal problems. the cdc and the official cruise line there are officially investigating. they don't say what the cause is, but our defect of infectious disease expert doctor peter chin. hong, we asked him and he says it seems pretty obvious. >> yes, it is very likely going to be no virus. norovirus is a virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea and you can have person-to-person transmission very famous for happening on cruise ships where large

temperatures eventually back in the low 60's. today's rainfall literally just trace amounts. nothing much out there. the sierra. we'll see a touch more snowfall. the start the weekend tomorrow as much as a foot at our highest of elevations. we still do have a winter weather advisory south of yosemite national park. those of all expired for the lake tahoe region, though, as for our sierra snow pack, a huge improvement from where we had been. we're at 83% of average now for the northern sierra as we were looking ahead of this month, we were really hoping to see that snow. and we certainly have been up in those higher elevations. so some really good news for our water impact. temperatures in the mid 50's today, redwood city. you're going to be one of our tpwarmer spots getting up to 57 degrees for super bowl sunday in vegas. if you are heading out that way, don't forget the layers because the kickoff time it's only going to be low 50's in vegas and by halftime. some 40's for the bay area will be comparatively warm about 10 degrees warmer. in

fortnight movies are searching for 9 tv shows. so it's a nice step for the pass of the game before night. gamers who are watching tv, disney needs of its people. i'm on top of that. taylor swift is pretty obvious. the and the era's tour was monster movie. she is wholesome. she's kind of the disney brand and she made one of biggest movies last year. so it makes sense to bring it to disney. plus, disney also announced the movie is going to be coming out this november. that will be the biggest hit this year. they not 7 and half billion dollars in savings. plus their earnings are going at 20%. so things are looking pretty disney these days and notice talk theme parks notice. i didn't talk, you know, disney plus their right mind. it areas but not much. yeah, that's pretty incredible. and i guess with the upcoming super bowl, everybody's watching for that. >> and watching for the halftime show, looking for commercials, i guess or what did i hear this right? 7 million dollars for a 30nd spot in the super bowl. that's insane. soon as $233,330 per

>> 9.29. right now we have some breaking news that we're covering this morning in san francisco. one person was killed in a hit and run crash. that happened this morning. we have kron 4 s charles clifford standing by at the scene with the very latest on that. charles, good morning. >> well, good morning. so right now i'm along bryant at can see behind me here. we've got san francisco police department on scene. if you look over my left shoulder, you can probably some crime scene tape out there. they're blocking off thd intersection at 6th. and brian, we've got crews out there right now. a crime scene. investigators taking some measurements and cleaning up a little bit here. what happened is we understand about 5 o'clock this morning was probably dark out. someone was struck and killed by a vehicle in the intersection san francisco police department arrived on scene. the fire department as well. the kind of blocked off the intersection. they've been investigating ever since at this point. we don't have any information about a suspect vehicle or an identity for the

person who was struck out what they were doing out here early in the morning. they do have the intersection blocked off between brandon and one street kind of to the south of where i'm standing and that's probably going to blocked off for a few more minutes. they're almost done here. the remains have been removed by the corner. so they're just finishing up their investigation. but this intersection is going to be closed down for a little while longer. so if you're in the area, keep in mind, you might have to walk around this or drive around it and hopefully they can get this cleared up very soon. we're going to try to get some more details from the san francisco police department figure out exactly what happened here. certainly there's a lot of surveillance cameras on this intersection is actually red light camera right over there. i don't know if they record video, but that might have a good view of what happened. maybe get a license plate and figure out who did this. but for now in san francisco, charles clifford kron, 4 news. >> all right, charles, thank you very much. and we'll see if we can't get answers to those >> very important questions. thank you. it is 9.31 right now. we also want to get you set on the weather before you leave the house. you're going want to have a code. yeah, i

85 88 through oakland, traveling to hayward knew the south bay 2.81, on one. certainly seeing traffic building since 05:00am this morning. now we've seen some improvement across our bridges. so 21 minutes were up to about 30 minutes. the peak of the morning, 70 min run. 81, along with 30 minutes for most of the morning there. now 8 along a rich elbridge in golden gate bridge just short of 27 minutes. darya. james, back to you. thanks. a lot rain. it's 9.32. and gosh, we're just a couple days away from the super bowl or yeah, forty-niners hit the practice field for the first time this week that a walk through yesterday. they have full-speed practice today and we've got our crews ready to cover the super bowl. among them. our kron, 4 sports reporter kate rooney. >> the forty-niners hit the practice field here in las vegas for the first time this weekend. they made it through practice without much drama, which might be a surprise considering the way the week started with reports of the forty-niners being unhappy with the quality. >> of the practice field at unlv, soggy field, soft grass.

meanwhile, the chiefs are over at the raiders indoor practice facility, but they were out basking in the sun and getting the job done. kyle shanahan said it wasn't worth it to him to change the team's practice schedule in order to move over to the raiders practice facility. i asked a couple of the players what they're still hoping to accomplish this week with a couple more practice days left before the super bowl. here's what they had to say. >> we put a game plan and last week before we got here. so put a little bit more in this morning. so it just kind of this crews get ready for sunday. >> you can always get out is something. i'm glad the playoffs. we have a really big into the body someone like we know we can pursue in play hard like the defense have. you know, we had a a few lapses and pursued an effort on some peso this weekend. president biden trying to make it a point to get to the ball. everybody like out 11 on the field just trying to get to the ballroom floor. you know, i just played we played kind of let off and down a little bit his postseason co. we haven't been living up. no. so i stand and what we built that what i what people expect of us and we expect of myself. so

instead of standing up for oakland, it's active litigation. and so i'm going to refer that to the city attorney's wednesday, mayor thao referred all questions to the city attorney's office. however, on the day she fired armstrong almost a year ago, she did reference the federal monitor. it's an absolute requirement that my administration, including the chief of police, be able to work closely with the monitoring team. and to speak credibly before the court. but i am no longer confident that chief armstrong can do the work needed to achieve the vision. so today. i have decided to separate from chief leronne armstrong from the city without cause. i think they've got a strong case attorney michael cardoza has reviewed the claim and says the city of oakland should consider settling and fast to quite frankly, the mayor should have waited. >> for a vet in a full vetting
