>> from the bay area's local news station. you're watching kron. 4 news at 6. >> and thanks so much for joining us this evening. i'm vicki liviakis, i'm ken wayne. we're following a developing story out of san francisco tonight where a muni bus has been involved in a crash. want to show you some citizen app video of the scene. the crash happened near mission and for noise streets in the outer

mission neighborhood and no injuries have been reported as of yet. but an ambulance was seen at the crash that we do have a crew on the way to the scene. and that will be updating this story. >> as we learn more other news woman accused of stealing a highway patrol car was in a san francisco courtroom today facing. >> felony charges in another case for driving a stolen vehicle. our kron four's dan current, a current tells us the prosecutors say that the vehicle stolen has been linked to a home invasion >> are all still in a little bit of shock. it's slowly starting to hit is mayor. but i feel like the neighborhood is just really scared, including since we were in a very vulnerable staples, sleep in maria kleber dickstein is talking about the early morning home invasion, burglary of her vallejo home earlier this month. they got into the bedroom window. >> and then entered the house. they stole our tv's a lot electronics ps 5 espresso machines. they raided a

refrigerator. they got away baby clothes, clothes are and a lot of miscellaneous items, those responsible have not been arrested or charged. but surveillance footage from neighboring properties shows people checking for unlocked doors, unlocked vehicles. hours after that home invasion. prosecutors say san francisco police spotted this woman. 27 year-old vanessa guerrero. >> exiting a vehicle stolen in that home invasion thursday. she pleaded not guilty to receiving stolen property and unlawful driving or taking of a vehicle. i'm aware of this individual kleber dickstein knows of guerrero because in january the chp arrested and booked her for driving a stolen vehicle. she's also but for grand theft for allegedly stealing a chp patrol car. after that initial arrest, i saw whole thing happened. i saw her go on and parked the car on the street and then run while the polio cases are still under investigation. kleber dickstein is hopeful.

prosecutors will keep guerrero behind bars. i'm scared, you know, for my safety at times because i do have a one year-old daughter but i have taken precautions and getting security for our house bill for guerrero has been set at $15,000, though, due to the allegations and allay. the judge here says that if she makes bail, she will be put on electronic monitoring and home detention. >> she's due back in court for her preliminary hearing later this month at the hall of justice in san francisco. dan kerman kron. 4 news. >> take a good look at your screen. oakland police are asking for your help to try to find this car they say was involved in a shooting that left a person dead last month. police say it happened on january 13th near 90th avenue and a street around 3 o'clock in the afternoon. the car is described as a black four-door lexus e-s 3.50, with distinct damage highlighted there on the front driver's side. fender. if you see this car, you have any information about the shooting. you're asked to call oakland police, governor

newsom, attorney general rob bonta and alameda county district attorney pamela price. >> are forming a partnership that will pull state attorneys from both the ags office and national guard to boost law enforcement capacity in oakland and the east bay. this in an effort to combat the escalating crime way there. the partnership is called keeping california safe. it will focus on helping prosecutors go after suspects involved in violent crimes. serious drug-related crimes and property crimes like retail theft and auto burglary. while some argue that the effort is beneficial for oakland, residents and businesses, others question this unprecedented move. >> the first thought i had when i heard this was this is political. gavin newsom. it's going to be running for president and the ones people. think that he is not as liberal as he is, but this was caused by pamela prize.

certainly from the get-go when she got rid of her 6 top trial attorneys and now she's wondering because she brought experience trial attorneys. she's got enough attorneys. they just don't have the experience to do this. >> well, no word tonight, anyway. and when the state prosecutors plan to show up san francisco, mayor london breed is joining with san jose mayor matt mahan to endorse a state ballot measure that would increase criminal penalties for drug dealing possession. >> and various property crimes mayors want to reform prop 47, which among other things reduces punishments for drug possession as well as the theft of items worth less than $950. the homelessness drug addiction and theft reduction act would make theft with 2 or more prior convictions, a jail eligible felony. it also increases penalties across the board. we're not just the sale

of but also the possession of fentanyl giving prosecutors the ability to charge someone with a felony. after 2 previous drug convictions. however, people would be gi en the option to avoid jail time by entering a treatment program. mahan says prop 47 passed a decade ago may have helped divert offenders from jail to reform programs, but he says it has also emboldened criminals and kep says a substance abuse victims addicted. a decade later. >> we've succeeded reducing our jail population. well, like all legislation. prop 47 was not perfect. and this had significant unintended consequences. well, small number of people brazen really commit crime without fear of accountability. >> to qualify for the november ballot to the law needs more than 546,000 signatures. a campaign says it has collected more than 360,000 so far. >> as a lunar new year gets

closer, san francisco leaders held a rally on the steps of pcity hall today calling for more protection for the asian american and pacific islander community. there have been a number of high-profile instances of violence against the api community in recent years and too often seniors and the victims. city leaders are calling for community-based approach to the problem that would expand city services, support victims and make sure that resources are made available. >> to think about the future in a way that is more about our community that is healthy. that sustainable. that is well rounded. there are strategies that compliment law enforcement that make our communities safer. after the rally, the cities of board of supervisors held a public safety hearing to hear from the police department. another. >> city departments on what they're doing to stop violence against the api community. now

to our 4 zone forecast as we get a live picture right now. lot of traffic there in the bay bridge. yeah. but no windshield wipers on, lawrence. it was nice to have a break. yeah, really? yeah. things got kind of winding down with this storm system is. >> finally beginning to move out of town. we did have a couple scattered light as the system headed southward. a few scattered showers popping up out there right now. but they're very widely scattered. here's look outside your skies. begin to clear out tonight. we're getting ready for a cold night here in the bay area. likely going to see a lot of frost in the valleys and maybe even inside the bay beautiful. look, those were going to get into what looks like an extended dry period. here's the very latest on the doppler radar, though. you can see a couple raindrops out there right now along the peninsula. some of the showers continue to fall there near pacifica and half moon bay. some of the rain falling in that direction. and more of that as you make your way toward the east bay, too, as we will see a few scattered light pop-up showers there. but this is really the end. it looks like we're going to catch a really much needed break in the storm pattern

right now. and then it looks like things are going to start to head out of town and high pressure is going to sneak back in that area of low pressure that brought the stormy weather last couple of days. that is moving all the way in arizona and parts sliding east. and as it does, our skies start to clear out. we're going to dry out here in los angeles can dry out to, of course, they really, really need it out the door right now. we've got temperatures taken down into the 40's in the 50's already. so, you know, are ahead, clearing out your skies that temperatures are going to really fall off overnight tonight and tomorrow. high pressure, though, looks like it is going to sneak in just in time for friday and the weekend. i think tomorrow. a dry day. we have been able to say that for quite some time. and that's going likely lead to several more in the next week to we'll talk more about that coming up in a few minutes. all right. thank you, lawrence. we are 3 days away now from super bowl 58. but happening tonight. >> the nfl is honoring a top athletes kron. 4 sports director jason dumas. so reports from the red carpet in las vegas.

>> well, it's one of the biggest nights on the nfl calendar. the nfl honors where the best of the best are awarded for their seasons the forty-niners have a chance to have a historic night here at the nfl honors. they have for people who could walk away from tonight with some hardware. first you have christian mccaffrey. he is nominated for both mvp and the offensive player of the year property. he's nominated for mvp. kyle shanahan is nominated for coach of the year and then yeah, patrick willis, he had the chance to get selected into hall of fame at the end of this night. now we were able to catch up with ed mccaffrey, christians, father obviously a star in his own right. he was just as proud about his baby boy, what can you see that the season that he's had this when they got one more to go that i can i can relax. i know he's dialed in and ready to go there. but it was just a magical season. so many great

two leading candidates for senate. two very different visions for california. steve garvey, the leading republican, is too conservative for california. he voted for trump twice and supported republicans for years, including far right conservatives. adam schiff, the leading democrat, defended democracy against trump and the insurrectionists. he helped build affordable housing, lower drug costs, and bring good jobs back home. the choice is clear. i'm adam schiff, and i approve this message.

packing up to head to vegas. we have been talking with those fans. all we can today. kron four's rob nesbitt, talk with some ladies hyped up for the big game. he joins us here in the studio with more of the ladies of the empire. rob ken and vicki, the ladies of the empire is a nonprofit group and its members are female fans of the forty-niners sharing a love of bay area football while raising scholarship money in the process. >> the road to super bowl. 58 continues and fans are as high ever. football may be a male dominated sport, but there are plenty of women who are passionate about the game, including the ladies of the empire, a group of female fans who love all things 9 ers. and smith is a proud member of we are truly an organization of helping each other. >> these bonds are deep that they we are sisters who all of the niners. it started as a fan group but evolved into a nonprofit that raises scholarship money for underserved high school and college students. you know, people are so generous. our

fan base is so fabulous. many members will be at the super bowl raising money but also enjoying the excitement of the match up between the forty-niners and the kansas city chiefs. it will be smith's second super bowl here in line to go through security. >> enter the stadium and just sort of that. the energy just get so intense. this year's super bowl will be a first for karen freeman from millipede i'm a season ticket holder and has been since came to levi's. she's not just known for her good sense of 49 or style, but also her kindness, making friends with just about every fan. she comes in contact with excited to see the big game up close and personal this year. you know, you can see it on television. >> but being there being with all the fans in that the energy the experience of the game is and the ladies of the empire or a scholarship money and may be able to get along with fans of other teams. but it's the forty-niners that bring them together like

others who identify as the faithful. they're hoping the lombardi trophy comes home to the bay area. no matter what you just know that that. >> that your team, the niners they are putting in every single effort, every bit of energy. they have to bring home that trophy. >> the female fans seem to plan better than the guys. both the ladies of the empire that i spoke with today. but they're plane tickets to vegas back in december long before the forty-niners even made it to the super bowl. as you can imagine, tickets now for flights way more expensive than back smart girls. not just practical, having the faith. yeah. and i love thought sense of style to cowboy hats. get left out for the looked good in. all right. thank you. our 4 zone forecast is take a live look outside san francisco. looking out across the first chief meteorologist lawrence karnow. here with a look at though. >> what's what's down the pike there? yeah, raining. yeah, no, we're we're looking good now. we do have some scattered showers around the bay area,

but they are really quickly winding down and it looks like in the coming days. we've got some nice weather ahead. fact, i've been able to say that for quite some time. but here we go out the door right now looking downtown, then the san francisco partly cloudy skies out there right now. couple sprinkles around the bay area today. but that, nothing too heavy. but now the skies are clearing out. it's going to be cold. we're talking about some frosty conditions as we head toward tomorrow morning. temperatures dropping down in the low 30's in some of the interior valleys. yes, going cold, maybe even some frost inside the bay inside the santa clara valley. so overnight lows are talking about 30's 40's, even inside the bay north. they'll find some of the coldest temperatures about 33 degrees of ring right around the freezing mark in santa rosa. 35 in napa about 39 degrees in nevada on about 36 degrees in livermore right now. still getting chilly out. there already were. 49 in livermore and dublin. 49 in concord, 50 in berkeley. now. 46 degrees in fairfax. 45 degrees in sonoma. hey, you're only a 40 right now in calistoga. so,

you know, we're headed from here. still a couple of scattered pop up showers. you see those moving down the peninsula and parts of the south bay, too. but those will quickly come to an end tonight. and then we're done with the rain. how about that? looks like that is going to be moving out of town. but yeah, as we look toward long-range forecast model, yeah. we've got dry conditions. looks like as we head through the weekend. then as we get into the end of next week, guess what? we've got a chance of another significant storm. this could be another atmospheric river event. maybe a big wind event to by next weekend. all right. the news tonight, the supreme court heard arguments today on whether >> former president donald trump is eligible for a second run for the white house. the question should he be thrown off the colorado primary ballot because of his actions during the january 6th violent attack on the capitol kron catherine heenan is in the newsroom for us with more on that. kathleen. >> you have vicki the general consensus. it was a pretty good day for donald trump. even 2 of the court's 3

liberal joined conservative colleagues and voicing doubt about the colorado ruling. the case revolves around part of the 14th amendment, which prohibits officials who commit insurrections from holding government office. >> as for whether trump should be thrown off the colorado ballot. justice kagan why one state should get to decide what amounts to a national question. and chief justice john roberts suggested that dumping trump could lead to chaos and revenge. goodly number of states will say whoever the democratic candidate is. you're off the ballot. >> and others for the republican candidate, you're off the ballot. justice ketanji brown jackson question. the argument from trump's attorneys that what happened january 6th did not meet the criteria for insurrection. you it did not involve an organized attempt to overthrow the government to friend insurrection. that needs to be organized, concerted effort. this was a riot.

>> it was not an insurrection. the events were shameful, criminal, violent, all those things but did not qualify insurrection as that term is used in section both sides urged the court to come to a decision quickly. certainly before super tuesday, march 5th. >> the bottom line, the supreme court appeared likely to reject the argument that the 14th amendment bar startled trump from returning to the white house. the >> 14th amendment was written to restrict states power. it starts by saying no state shao the nie equal protection denied due process. so to have a provision in which would expand state power and keep people off the strikes us as a little counterintuitive and they just don't want to go near the politics of this. that's a safe ruling that they can make. that's not going to i think divide the country any further than it already is. >> the justices did not indicate when they're going to issue a ruling. but that decision we know will
