today's richard on the forty-niners because this is the weekend. yes. and this is the weekend, a party. but let's not forget what we have a job. that's right. and that is to win. and the niners know that it's business. it is all about business. they can party after the wind. that's the goal. anyway, we've got live a presence once again out there in vegas. kron four's justine waltman standing by out in front of legion stadium. good morning, justin. >> good morning here from las vegas. we are no longer going to be hearing from the san francisco forty-niners or the kansas city chiefs. they have their final media availability yesterday during a their practice and the main bus word that we heard coming out of both camps, focus. yes, it's time now to get down to business. so one thing that we're happy about is that it's not raining anymore. we are dealing with some wind chills, but that does not seem to be bothering either. team says they are practicing at niners camp. it was described as just another day at work recording

company going full speed after a light walk-through on wednesday. >> head coach kyle shanahan says purdy is executing at a high level even going as far as saying he had a heck of a week a day after practicing without pads and helmets. the chiefs are back to hitting and the words we kept hearing there tempo, tempo town however, things did get a little feisty at practice for the kc campt the chiefs are viewing that aggression as a hunger to win a 4th super bowl title. >> not to get a lot of things. got a little chippy. i'm not going to say between who but offense and defensive lines are sardar trying to get their work in the trying to make sure everybody is ready for the game. i mean, it just got me fired up yesterday. you can see in seeing everybody locked in and wanting to get their work in, you know, making sure that everybody is ready for the for the task at hand. while there's a good job of coaching stop and. >> and you know, giving us the in terms of what we get the right look. so it's just being ready for those moments. and and, yeah, not not letting

landing on half moon bay beach. yeah. police say that the small plane was stolen from palo alto with kron four's. sara stinson with more on that story. >> the san mateo county sheriff's office says luis, gustavo eris stole a plane from the palo alto airport and landed nose down in the sand just south of here and half moon bay. several people were enjoying the sunset at poplar beech and saw the plane go down. fully. no one was hurt. on thursday night around 5, the mateo county sheriff's office got a call. they don't landed just south of poplar m- peach and half moon bay. i've been doing 20 years. and this is a first for me, sergeant javier acosta says when deputies arrived, they found a single engine plane nose down in the sand. deputies quickly learned the plane was stolen from the palo alto airport. acosta says several people witnessed the landing. someone saw the person walking away from their plane. >> provide us a detailed

description and we found that person within minutes. a 50 year-old man from miami-dade county, florida was arrested on the beach shortly after sergeant acosta says investigators are still working to learn more about him at this time. i do not know if this person is a pilot or or who person >> managed to still airplane and landed on the have and the beach and walk away from >> harris has been booked into the san mateo county jail. the lead investigator being palo alto police. but this did happen on a state-run beach, popular beach. so they're still trying to figure out how to recover the plane and get it off the beach and back to where it belongs. >> i'm sara stinson reporting in half moon bay kron. 4 news. >> well, 606, is the time in the east bay. police in oakland are searching for a car that may have been involved in a deadly shooting last month. we actually pictures of the car police released these photos. take a good look. it's described as a black four-door lexus e

esterly 50. it was has some slight damage there on the front left driver side fender the shooting itself happened back on january 13th right near 90th avenue and a street. the victim's name has not yet been released. if you have idea where this car is or who is who the driver was, call police time is 606. the berkley school district is warning about scams. >> targeting parents, they told us that one parent got a call that their child had been kidnapped and that parents need to pay ransom. in this case, they parents said the caller was speaking in spanish and they could hear a child crying in the background. the parents child was actually safe in class the whole time. if you get a call like that, the district is advising you stay calm. don't give out any personal information. hang up and contact your child immediately to make sure they're safe and then let the police know what happened. san

francisco's district attorney is warning residents of blessing scams. now this is where a scammer offers to perform a purification or a blessing ceremony on cash or other valuable items that you have. and then during this process, they steal your stuff. investigators have gotten to reports of this happened. they're saying 2 women and one man we're doing this and most of the thieves they've been targeting seniors. so if you know a senior take care and talk to them. all right. well, 607, is the time. let's turn our attention actually to the forty-niners and the district attorneys for san francisco and kansas. >> they got a little competition going da. brooke jenkins has agreed to wear patrick mahomes jersey. if the chiefs win this sunday. but if the niners win jackson county district attorney jean peters baker is going to wear a brock purdy the loser will then post a picture wearing the jersey the rest of you that what i

well, guess what, it's not the biggest venue in the nfl. 65,000 seats. and that's why with so few seats as far as super bowl stadiums are concerned, ticket p'ices might be sky high. so las vegas might see a whole bunch of forty-niners fans in the casinos watching their team. but we do expect today is their getaway day. course, many of them already in las vegas. this is a huge couple of days for niners fans as they want to show up and then tell the chiefs fans that reading gold that they have taken over sin city. but guess what? they won't be the only ones. i will work hard for niners fans at home watching us to get niners fans. i got to tell you, there's some chiefs fans already this morning and one of them, she wants to go to the super bowl for the taylors swift super bowl. i think people just love to hate her. >> and i don't get why people

>> temperatures are well down in the 30's for yet another morning. we do have another round of frost advisories for the north bay east bay, south bay and peninsula through 09:00am skies dry, not just for the bay, but for the vast majority of the rest of the state and notably over to vegas for the game itself, if you are heading out that direction, easy travel conditions getting out there. high pressure ridge building back in keeping us dry. but we are still on the cooler side of things today, tapping into a whole lot of sunshine. and that's going to be much the case as well as we do roll into your saturday tomorrow sunday, a couple of clouds here and there are not going to be quite as crystal clear, but still great for the game. great for the backyard barbecue, whatever you want to get up to outdoors 50's for today's daytime highs in mostly mid-fifties. some spots along the bay shore will be among our warmest of the afternoon foster city down through redwood city at 57. not so bad. and san jose also at 57 degrees today, mid 50's for the tri valley and up from fremont to hayward oakland.

iran, san mateo bridge, 80 to 101, one of the south bay. 85 to menlo park. still at the limit. 30 minutes, shelley answer he does. 24 minute. brian d'arcy. james, back to you. thanks a lot. it is 6.18, and the north bay of a lay. a woman accused of stealing a chp patrol car. >> was in court in san francisco facing felony charges for a driving a stolen car. the car has been linked to a vallejo home invasion which happened earlier this month. police have not made any arrests in that case. but surveillance footage from neighboring property shows people checking. look at this for unlocked cars and vehicles. this was right after that home invasion shining lights in there. see what's inside san francisco police saw vanessa guerrero acts in vehicle that was stolen in that home invasion. she pleaded not guilty to receiving stolen property and unlawfully or taking a car. >> i'm scared, you know, for my safety at times because i do have a one year-old

daughter. but i have taken precautions and getting security for our house. >> the bail was set. the judge says that if she does post bail, though, that she's going to have to wear an electronic monitoring. she's due back in court for a preliminary hearing this month. a man has been arrested, accused of burglarizing to businesses and nevado. >> 42 year-old paul amey junior from hercules was arrested. they say used a crowbar to break into fbi burgers and more in fitness at the square shopping center last week. he's right. he was arrested after police spotted him driving a stolen car and here is what police recovered from the car. cash and property belonging to those 2 businesses. junior is booked into the marion county jail. >> in the east bay, one man has been arrested after police found drugs and 500 pounds of copper wire in his car. police were conducting a traffic stop in the area of farewell drive.

officers found 4 ounces of suspected methamphetamine. several electric saws, both cutters and that copper wire. the driver claimed the drugs and the wire weren't his 3 other people in the car also denied ownership. the driver identified as jose says ares of a raw dough was arrested on suspicion of car on suspected drug charges. the other 3 men were arrested for outstanding warrants. local food banks are also getting in on the super bowl. fun with the niners taking on the chiefs sf marin second harvest and alameda county community food banks are all challenging kansas city fans to a donation competition. the effort is called huddle to end hunger. and organizers say that regardless of who wins the game, this is a great way to help your neighbors in need and have a little fun. >> the team they could be on the fields you know, people everywhere can use a helping and so, you know, whatever the result is on the field, people in both cities a very

>> we're back at 6.24. and on the peninsula. 55 year-old san mateo man is in custody now accused of robbing one bank wednesday and then trying to rob another the day before. so san mateo police say the first the man left the bank and then the next day, police say he robbed a bank in the same area. police arrested him yesterday. >> you know what a deepfake is right and altered image. well, as that's becoming more common, least one big tech giant is hoping to show the feds that they can regulate themselves. met a parent company of facebook and instagram announcing a new

policy shift. they are now going to place a warning label on all images created using artificial intelligence. so you'll know it's not the real deal, but it did not cite any specific incident when they announced this rule. but they know that the change comes as, quote, a number of important elections are taking place around the world. >> 2024 will be the presidential election. we're deep fakes and misinformation will have the power to deceive voters. >> and that is policy change also comes as big tech companies are facing a lot of pressure to make their platforms safer and more reliable. the uk past the online safety act last year making it a crime to upload fake images of a person without their consent. >> well, newly introduced legislation could ensure the safe development of large-scale artificial intelligence here in california. san francisco state senator scott wiener wrote the bill and it would

office and national guard to boost law enforcement capacity specifically in oakland and the east bay called keeping california safe. the partnership will be focused on helping county prosecutors go after suspects involved in violent crimes, serious drug-related crimes and property crimes, including retail theft, an auto burglary, a great >> demonstration of collaborative leadership where no one is trying to go at it alone. we all know that we need each other to help. and to deliver the outcomes that are necessary and in that spirit of cooperation and collaboration and partnership. we're working together and i believe we're going to be successful. da pamela price said, quote, i welcome the support from the governor. >> in this fight against organized retail crime and the scourge of fentanyl in our community. >> to have state prosecutors, attorneys. come in and investigate perhaps trying

cases there could be a very high upside. >> jonathan able is a criminal law professor at uc law sf. he applauds the collaboration and believes it could be beneficial for the community. >> and if the problems about capacity building, which is how to describe it. so they are too much work basically for local prosecutors, then it could be extremely beneficial. >> the first thought i had when i heard this was this is political. gavin newsom. it's going to be running for president and he once people. think that he is not as liberal as he is. former prosecutor michael cardoza, questions. >> the unprecedented move. and while he says it could be advantageous for residents, he also believes that the effort may run into problems with prices administration, including letting go of staff and her liberal policies. >> but this was caused by pamela price. certainly from the get-go when she got rid of her 6 top trial attorneys and

now she's wondering because she brought experienced trial attorneys. she's got enough attorneys. they just don't have the experience to do legal scholar jonathan able says time will tell whether this will >> make a difference in alameda county. as far as a timetable about when these attorneys will be joining the alameda county district attorney's office. >> ag bonta says that the boots on the ground are going to be coming very soon. exactly. when is unclear. but he said that it will be sooner rather than later in the newsroom. theresa is stasio kron. 4 news. >> its 6 34 2 bay area mayors are endorsing a state ballot measure to increase criminal penalties for drug dealing. san francisco mayor london breed and san jose mayor matt mahan want to reform propped 47, which among other things reduces punishments for drug possession as well as the theft of items that are less

than $950. the homelessness, drug addiction and theft reduction act that they're pushing would make theft with 2 or more prior convictions, a jail eligible felony. and it also increases the penalties for the sale and possession of fentanyl. however, people would be given the option to avoid jail time by entering a treatment program to qualify for the november ballot. that law needs more than 540,000 signatures the campaign says that they have collected about 360,000 so far. >> well, 2 east bay rape and murder cold cases from the 1970's have been solved. those crimes were committed in newark and hayward and ball. 48 year-old hayward resident theresa pico and 60 year-old newark resident nelly hicks. their cases remain cold until late last year when the fbi help connect the crimes to the alleged killer using dna. the evidence lead to fred bernard farnham the man responsible, they say for both crimes.

farnham who was from oregon. >> died in a hospital in 2007 at the age of 73. and criminal records show. he was a convicted of a series of assaults in the bay area. well, investigators at this point believe be connected to more rapes and murders in nevada. >> north dakota, idaho, oregon and alaska. >> its 6.35 and a bay area law firm is suing a fitness program over its involvement in hiring a fencing coach who is charged with molesting a 17 year-old athlete in sunnyvale. in 2021. police say that the suspect had been grooming the victim over several years by purchasing or gifts and treating her differently than the other fencing. students. and when she turned 17, he molested her at his sunnyvale apartment. and while traveling out of state for fencing, competitions, the law firm claims that the company that hired him, usa fencing knew

about the coaches, misconduct, history dating back to 2002 and did nothing. the law firm says usa fencing does have the suspect on its banned list. francisco city leaders rallied on the steps of the city hall there calling for more protection for the asian american and pacific islander community. there've been a number of high-profile instances of violence against community members in recent years. and too often seniors of the victims. city leaders are now calling for a community-based approach that would expand city services to support victims and make sure that resources are available. the future in a way that is more about our community that is healthy. that sustainable. that is well rounded. there are strategies that compliment. >> law enforcement that make our communities safer i wasn't.

>> following the rally, the board of supervisors held a public hearing to listen to the police department and other departments on what they have to say, what they're doing to prevent violence. >> well, the city of petaluma is making some changes now to improve safety on lakeville highway. the decision comes after a 79 year-old woman was killed in a car crash last week. these are pictures from the scene. investigators say the woman was trying to turn left onto lakeville highway from pine view when she was struck. and as a result of this accident in term safety measures now will be put in place on lakeville highway, including radar speed feedback signs new traffic lane configurations and blocking access to lakeville highway from pine. the way these changes are set to go into effect this coming monday. >> its 6.30, a and the super bowl is just 2 days away. forty-niners fans are palm. yes and one bay area couple will be cheering on the red and gold from a fan cave that took them 4 years to put
