want you to watch out for looking outside at the golden gate bridge. this is some cloud cover aloft that's obscuring this view. visibility on the bridge itself is actually holding up better than yesterday. was. we're starting to see a little bit of fog forming out towards the delta in the tri valley. so watch those spots. couple of spots in northern sonoma county as well. current temperatures not quite as cold as yesterday was. most of us are still hanging out in the 40's fairfield. you are one of our only spots on this map in the upper 30's right now. well, for only spot that's actually held onto those low 50's later today. we stay dry a little cloudier than yesterday, but still nice and mild. tomorrow is when rainfall arrives. and i'll let you know the timing of that. still to come in your forecast over to rain. all right. thank you for that. let's get moving on a tuesday morning. a view are going to be heading into the city right now. >> the meteor lights are on, but again, not as foggy as we started yesterday, where visibility was not the best on the bay bridge. 12 minutes there. don't see any accidents. san mateo bridge just short of 14, 80 to one on

authority. he to address this issue while we elect leaders who will shake up congress. republican steve garvey pointed his finger directly at biden on day one. the president open the floodgates. >> and created a crisis in the united states. he should be the one to step up. in closed the border. we will not have border security until we have comprehensive immigration reform. there's still some policies in place which donald trump had put into place when he was president. those need to go on the topic of minimum wage. barber lee claimed the wage needs to be $50 an hour for people to live properly in the golden state. >> just do the math. just do the math. of course, we have minimum wages that we need to raise to a living wage. you talk about 20 $25, fine. but i have got to be focused on what california needs. >> garvey said no changes need wage is where it is and should be. if you look at california

debate. highlights 604 is the time right now. and today mateo county is going to talk about legislation to stop the expansion of waymo. >> yeah, into the county. there are some local officials want local governments to have more control over whether autonomous vehicles are operate on their streets. cloud four's will tran is live whether or not those driverless cars will be allowed within their city. right now, it's up to 2 agencies. the cpu see the california public utilities commission as well as the dmv. they say, according to supervisor dave canada, he says they don't even consult with local jurisdictions on whether or not those cars should be allowed within their city and their county. he is

saying they want the city's to decide, especially after all the pushback that's been happening recently against driverless cars. he pointed to accident that happened just last week in san francisco where as cyclists waymo car got into an accident. and despite the investigation still ongoing, this time almost instantly, so many people said it was way most so you get the pushback on those driverless cars not to mention in san francisco. currently the dmv has suspended their operation for crews allowing sh back against this driverless cars. and this time it's happening in san mateo county. back to ok? thanks a lot. we'll.

>> 606, is the time and happening right now, a search is underway for a missing 101 year-old man of santa rosa, santa rosa. police shared this picture of william gunther. he stands 5 feet, 6 inches tall. he is at risk due to his age and health condition. they say he drove away from his residence on monday between noon and 04:00pm in a white 2018 subaru legacy. and here's a look at the license plate number that police provided to us. it is 8 cw are 708. police say it's possible that gunther may be driving in the area of goat brought beach in jenner. that's north of the day cub. a few have any sighting of him. if you've seen this car with this license plate, give police a call. >> it is 607. and in oakland, police officer is on paid leave right now after crashing into a chp cruiser and they say he was driving under the influence at the time that chp officer had to go to the hospital, a crash. happened

saturday morning on eastbound 80 near manuel compass parkway in fairfield, the oakland police officer was off duty at the time when this crash happened. 2 chp officers were on the scene. one inside the cruiser. the other was outside when the car was hit. the one inside the car suffered minor injuries at the hospital. the other officer not hurt. the oakland police department has not released the officer's name who crashed into that chp vehicle. the san francisco police officers they made 23 arrests during to nighttime operations around un plaza. this is a part of the latest phase of the city's efforts to combat the drug crisis in the mid-market area since its launch last year. about 2000 people have been arrested for possession with the intent to sell public drug use and outstanding warrants. the san francisco police also seized about 300 pounds of narcotics. almost half of that was fentanyl.

>> along monday, immigrant rights groups rallied in front of a new immigration court that opened in the predominantly spanish-speaking concord neighborhood. and we have photos of that rally that we share with you now. the new court will hear cases from multiple counties. immigrant rights groups say that local government did not let the community know that the court would be going. it would be opening and they say the court opening in that specific concrete neighborhood steer instill fear in the community. congressman mark this on says he is disappointed the court open with limited community engagement, but he does appreciate the need of the office of immigration review to conduct its business. the justice department is hiring. 21 immigration judges for the court there in concord. but asylum seekers will need to find their own representation. >> its 609. and after a disappointing loss, crushing defeat in the super bowl, the forty-niners fans a coming to terms with it. we've just got to wait for another year to

>> 6.13, that i'm in here are 4 things to know today. a car backing out of a driveway hit and killed a woman in san jose on saturday. police say this is the city's 8 fatal collision and 8 traffic deaths of 2024. we're learning more details now about what waymo vehicle that was set on set on fire in san francisco's chinatown over the weekend. thankfully nobody was inside at the time. federal prosecutors have weighed in on social media suggesting that acts like this can lead up to 40 years of jail time, depending on the circumstances. the fbi says victims within the fbi, san francisco division and territory lost more than 27 million dollars last year due to scammers targeting people with romance scams to avoid them and say people should not send money, trade or invest with people. they've only met

there on radar. we do have some low clouds around the santa cruz mountains and a couple of sprinkles up at the top of those aside from that, though, this is a dry morning until you get up into the north coast. mendocino and humboldt counties are seeing a few light showers now. our next system is waiting in the wings right out there to the west of us. still looking at our high pressure, ridge built up across the region, although its grip on us is definitely weakening at this point, allowing the storm door to open up here just over 24 hours from now. as for the bay today, partly cloudy skies overnight tonight while you're sleeping, a few light sprinkles up in sonoma and napa counties. nothing much though, going on tonight tomorrow for valentine's day. most of u.s. start the day dry. you can see her tomorrow morning at 9.30, in the morning will start to see rainfall pushing into the very northern reaches of the bay area and starting to drift to the rest of us by noon and into the afternoon after that. so if you have a date planned tomorrow, some valentine's day plans. just make sure that you're ready to go with the

county sheriff's office. amtrak one of them that you can see that rain here. it hit and killed a person who was on the tracks and hayward. this happened around 2 o'clock in the afternoon yesterday. that person was on the track when they were hit by the train that was headed to san jose. nobody on the train was hurt. >> well, in fremont police there have arrested 4 teens who they say we're in a stolen suv. 2 of them are accused of robbing a postal worker of their keys near niles community park before taking off in the suv. this happened last wednesday in the area of 3rd street. police say a similar robbery happened the day before, but they did not clarify if the same group is suspected in that case. >> time now 6.19, and the oakland jewish alliance has called on the state attorney general to investigate the oakland city council for civil rights violations in this is because of what happened during a meeting in november. is. yeah. the group says the

violations happened when the council passed a cease-fire resolution directed at the israel. >> hamas war with kron 4. sarah stinson to explain. >> i've never been as scared as i was. that night. >> mark owen still shaken by the words, spoken at the oakland city council meeting held back on november. 27th. the council listened to 6 hours of public comment regarding a resolution calling for a cease-fire in gaza, which the council ended up passing. cohen says people taking to the podium and shouting from the crowd used anti-semitic phrases while many members of the jewish community were in attendance. but among the expressions, i said was white. hitler heil hitler. >> and f and zionist pigs. many people had left at a fear for their safety. cohen says pro-israel speakers had their title 6 civil rights violated when the city council did not intervene. it was their failure.

>> all right. let's talk about what's going on in san mateo county. the sheriff's office is investigating an armed robbery. >> it happened in an unincorporated area of the county yesterday around one 30 in the morning. an armed robbery outside a home in millbrae the 2 suspects had handguns. luckily, the victim was not hurt. they stole a personal belongings and then took off in a gray honda. 5.25. is the time right now. other news that we're following, 2 men in san jose have been arrested now for allegedly robbing multiple bakeries spanning 2 months. police arrested. 37 year-old. >> to ramos and 41 year-old arturo vasquez ayala. police

say the 2, rob, several bakeries from december to january, they would take out a gun. the man money taking off with thousands of dollars. both men have been booked into the chest or santa clara county jail. meanwhile, the congress city council will again take up a possible rent stabilization ordinance on tuesday. that would also require landlords have just cause before evicting tenants. the ordinance would apply to multi-family rental complexes of 2 or more units built before february. first of 1995, the ordinance would limit annual rent increases to just 3% or 60% of the consumer price index, whichever is lower. it would also establish a process utilizing a hearing. officer tenants could appeal their rent increases if they believe them to be inconsistent with the ordinance. the concord city council meets tonight at 6.30, to discuss the matter. >> good morning, everyone. i'm michael thomas. coming up, i've got details on a new bill aimed at reducing the maternal death rate of

com for your local election headquarters to 4 leading candidates. the u.s. senate race faced off right here. >> in our studios, they did. adam schiff with katie porter, barbara lee, and of course, steve garvey. they were all running. >> to fill the seat vacated by late senator dianne feinstein and got pretty heated here. yeah, and let's go to the very latest. we have a recap from the town while us. >> well, the debate focused on the issues facing california, but it also included its fair share of fireworks. sparks flying at the inside california politics, u.s. senate debate in san francisco to 4 leading candidates in the race. democratic congressmembers adam schiff, katie porter and barbara and republican steve garvey facing off in the hour-long televised debate that touched on several topics. perhaps none more he did in the topic of former president donald j trump, steve garvey says he voted for the former president twice but garvey argues he's been unfairly labeled as an ardent trump supporter. i hope this puts too.

really harnesses the power of the federal government to unleash that capital that we need to build more housing we also need and the diction protection policy. and i'm working on that. also to get that passed into law on the crisis at the u.s. mexico border. >> i think that we need to invest in creating a lawful, orderly, humane immigration system and decade after decade, politicians in washington haven't done that. we will not have border security until we have comprehensive immigration reform. we didn't have a policy of the border that is consistent with our values as a nation. >> i also think we need order at the border. when the president open the floodgates. and created a crisis in the united states. he should be the one to step up. in closed the border. steve garvey did not speak to journalists following the debate, but he did a code. this message throughout the night. these are 3 career politicians. >> who failed the people, his opponents back to different. many of experiences that californians have. i've lived. but i also know how to turn

those challenges into policies and funding priorities and make life better for everyone. i don't see washington doing enough to solve our problems, bringing down the cost of childcare, making housing affordable for our workforce, addressing the climate change. and so i'm really running to shake up the senate to make sure that it's working for californians not for big corporations. we need to do or in the senate. that knows how to get things done. >> a i've long track record of doing that. i'm gonna deliver for california and i would love to have their support. >> so what happens next? what the candidates tell me. they plan a campaign up and down the state in the final weeks ahead of primary election day. march 5th reporting in san francisco, a tom wallace kron. 4 news. >> and 6.34 and california attorney general rob bonta and the california legislative black caucus are asking the state to do more to support black mothers and their children. bonta says that this all starts with better anti-bias training for doctors

and nurses. >> kron four's michael thomas up in the newsroom to explain michael. hi, good morning, everyone. well, this new bill essentially will add extra layers to the requirements of training for providers to ensure that black pregnant women. >> get the medical attention that they need without having to ask for it. so it's called assembly bill. 23, 19 and its building off of the california dignity in pregnancy and childbirth act. it was established a few years ago requiring implicit bias trainings for care providers. essentially this new bill would establish firm deadlines for when those trainings need to be finished and require compliance data to be posted online. at that point, it would allow the public to know which facilities have given that anti-bias training and establish administrative penalties for those who have not complied with that. the attorney general says racial bias should not be a factor that impacts the quality of care that black women received during and or after pregnancy and childbirth. you know, the one. >> 3rd of black patients in california reported that they didn't feel that delivery room staff encourage them to make

decisions about their birth progression. and more than 10% said they were treated unfairly during their hospital. stay because of their race or thereafter the city. so we need to listen to this data. listen to these women. and make substantial transformative change before another patient is hurt. of course, we're worse. now, in addition, the bill will add inclusive language to account for non binary people and ad men of transgender experience. >> who also carry children and give birth officials say bringing this bill forward you know, they say that the rate of maternal death for black women is 3 to 4 times higher than white women here in the state of california. adding that it's statistics seen across all income levels. live in the newsroom. i'm michael thomas story. james, we'll send it back to you. all right. thanks a lot, michael. >> it is 6.36 and also this morning.

>> we've got another developing story that we're best. a gator trying to figure out what happened after they found 2 children and 2 adults, adults dead inside a home in san mateo county. and this happen yesterday morning. it was a welfare check when they discovered the 4 who had died. it was 2 boys and a man and a woman. police say that the neighbors say they were absolutely shocked and surprised that no idea. >> makes you wonder so places your mind goes, was it play? was it something that happened inside the home is just as a parent. it's hard not wonder. >> this is a very tragic horrible. seeing a rise. i'm is not something that happens every day it's tragic for the family, the community and all the officers. >> obviously it shook everybody there. the neighborhood was closed down as the investigation continued in the south bay. a woman was struck and killed by a car in

san jose. that happened saturday around to the afternoon and saratoga avenue near tan, dark street. a utility vehicle was backing out of a driveway and struck a woman who was walking on the sidewalk. she was rushed to the hospital where she died and the utility driver did remain at the scene to cooperate. this is san jose's 8th traffic death of the year. >> well, we're learning more about that waymo vehicle that was set on fire in san francisco's chinatown over the weekend. thankfully, the vehicles empty. so nobody was hurt. but that all happened about 09:00pm after dropping off a passenger. that's when the driverless waymo vehicle started heading. down jackson street and then it became surrounded by a group of people near grant street and that's when people started jumping on the car spray painting graffiti on it. and then as you saw there, putting fireworks inside lighting at the whole thing just went up. waymo believes this is a

one-time thing and not some organized protest of autonomous vehicles and the witnesses we spoke with agree. >> this was not i like some of that negative that i heard. this is literally just people collating the sake of theirs. trying to get its hear from some of the people in the same crowd. >> san francisco police are investigating the incident and now federal prosecutors have weighed in on social media posting that committing acts like that is a violation of interstate commerce laws and could send those responsible to prison for anywhere from 5 to 40 years, depending on the circumstances. over to the niners. now, some controversy surrounding kyle shanahan's decision to take the ball first in overtime during the super bowl. it was the first game with the nfl's new playoff overtime rules and shanahan's called obviously in hindsight didn't work out for san francisco, but on the other sideline chiefs player said that after the game.
