manager of agave uptown says that they've been broken into again. most recently just happened early thursday morning yesterday, kron 4 dan thorn has more. >> another break-in caught on camera at agave uptown in oakland security video shows the latest burglary from around 5 thursday morning. you can see a man ripping open the front doors of the restaurant after breaking a lock. he then calmly pockets. a couple of bottles of liquor before leaving restaurants are dying little by little with >> with this type situation. and this has this has to stop. >> the restaurant's general manager osvaldo sanchez says these types of crimes are happening far too often. each one costing the small business thousands in repairs and lost inventory all the while, putting workers on edge. we have around 40 employees. >> that really with this type of situation where like we could hit so many times. you

know, late and we don't know what's going to happen agave uptown suffered a major break in last summer when thieves stole $10,000 in cash and expensive bottles of liquor. >> sanchez says since opening in 2016, the restaurant has dealt with nearly 2 dozen break-ins and not one has been resolved for sanchez calling the police has not helped. that is no point for me to a waste. any time trying to >> and township police department are trying to make the reporting that happened. he says they want to stay on 22nd in broadway, in oakland, for their customers and the community. but city leaders need to listen to their calls for help. we just need support. so we need. and we need to be heard in oakland, dan thorn kron. 4 news. >> 10, 0, 3. and take a look at all these weapons. investigators found hundreds of guns in a home in richmond, including 11 machine guns and

100 handguns also been a million rounds of ammunition. and according to the attorney general, the man was living in that home wasn't even legally allowed to own guns. he's been taken into custody. we have more information this morning about the family of 4 that was found dead in their home in san mateo, investigators found evidence that it was a murder-suicide where they say the husband and non henry shot and killed his wife, alice band singer and then turned the gun on himself. their bodies were found in the bathroom and their twin boys. nathan and noah. they were found dead in a bedroom, but there were no signs of trauma. so the corner still trying to determine the cause of death. it appears the family had been dead for at least 2 days before they were discovered monday when police did a welfare check. police say there's no history of violence at that home so they don't know the motive for the murder suicide. the husband worked in tech. the wife was a data science manager at still low.

it's 10, 0, 4, and another big story that we're following. more than 2 dozen kids got a mysterious illness. 6 suddenly all in the same class. >> at a high school in napa kron four's. michael thomas is in the newsroom with what we know. did they find anything in that classroom? >> yeah. good morning. darrius. still no answers. the district says they're still investigating this morning, but those 6 students actually all got sent to the hospital and were hospitalized for some time. again. the cause still not unknown or excuse me, still unknown. take a look. we've got details up on your screen. so it happened yesterday morning at vintage high school in napa during students first period. and according to school officials, will they say a handful of students inside the choir class all began feeling ill at the same time. so they ended up having a cole, napa, fire department and medical aid to the scene to assist with students in napa. fire says there's a total of 25 students in that classroom. all that felt mild but similar symptoms all at the same time. so that included feeling nauseous,

having a headache and having that feeling of fatigue, adding that one student actually did pass out while they were there. 6 others were sent to that nearby hospital and the other students in the classroom were eventually sent home in the school all around actually went in to shelter in place. and that was because napa fire did call pg and e to conduct a check on the school's hvac system and make sure there was no carbon monoxide or gas inside the building. now they say neither was found and the cause again, still unknown. but officials do say it's being looked into the fire department also adds that no teachers there in the classroom felt ill. it was only those students. this morning. the school is back open. students were able to go back into the classroom as fire officials did say it was safe. that building. so we get more updates from the district will keep you updated. darnell, send it back to you. and i just want to ask because people think these days, you know, with like a little bit of fentanyl or another kind of, >> you know, drug or powder, we've we've had police describe getting overtaken by, you know, sickness. yeah, i

did ask the district that this morning. i also asked, you know, do we think there's there was any type of, you know, drugs or foul play? so they said that they still have a lot of questions. and then they're hoping to put out a press release at some point soon. ok ministry, thank you, michael. it's 10, 0, 6, right now. and take a look at what this canine found. 10 pounds of meth. the k 9 deputy found this during a traffic stop in petaluma on wednesday. the driver was pulled over, pulled over for a misdemeanor arrest warrant out of mendocino county and then sonoma county sheriff's deputies sent the dog in and he sniffed out in a dog treat boxer bunch about daughtry boxes. and kitty litter boxes. all these drugs. the driver was arrested. 10, 0, 7, and other big story. san mateo county officials y - that the company failed to properly communicate their plan to expand outside of san francisco in an e-mail that went out thursday. waymo said it has conducted outreach

briefings with dozens of public and private stakeholders in the county and that those briefings included a presentation with even a map of the peninsula. last week's county's attorney sent a letter to the california public utilities asking that it reject waymo's request to expand because of a lack of communication. the controversy stems from a county resolution that was passed on tuesday. that would give local governments the final say over driverless car services right now. that decision is that to the dmv, which is already approved it and the california peuc. it's 10, 0, 7. and today bay area car enthusiast. if you're looking for new car, you get to see the newest of the new some that aren't even on the market yet. it's a three-day event at santa clara convention center. and that's where we find kron four's will tran look at all the cool stuff. take a peek. >> if you're in the market for a car is facing, a lot of people drive from one

system. now the second one of the weekend moves through late sunday into monday. this one results in heavier rainfall even yet. and yes, those flooding concerns for the bay area, upwards of 7 or more inches of rainfall up in the santa cruz mountains south of the south bay. in areas 2 to 5 inches of rainfall by the time we reach early next week. now, as for the sierra, there's a winter weather advisory going into effect tomorrow morning. so today, you're good to go get out there. make that drive. we will be seeing some snowfall up there tonight into tomorrow, but then really going to be seeing that heaviest of snow fall sunday night into monday. that's when it's really going to start to stack up. you'll be looking at multiple feet at the crest of the sierra donner summit. as you're driving up 80 around 7 to 9 inches of snowfall towards sunday itself. so that is going to be the one to watch out for. absolutely bring those chains and expect some delays. hopefully not any closures. it is actually great news for this year, though, because we needed to do some catch-up work up there. northern sierras, 84% of

states. in other ball parks that have been approved by major league baseball. that's where they be. instead, the a's were back at the table thursday with officials from the city of oakland and alameda county. >> discussing a lease extension at the coliseum. in a statement, say we had a positive meeting and we look forward to further discussions regarding the lease extension at the coliseum. this is about the a's and keeping them in oakland and having mayor sheng thao. >> and others around her, not just her being ready to fight like this time around to keep the team here. former a's executive andy dolan says he hopes local officials are from with the a's. >> lease extension unless they reconsider the move to las vegas and instead build a new stadium in oakland. and he's not the only one who believes these discussions could expand beyond a lease extension. i think baseball would rather stay in oakland and then it would leave las vegas as a

possible expansion market. david sampson served as president of the miami marlins for 16 years and oversaw the construction of the teams do ballpark, which, by the way, has a retractable roof. i used vegas's leverage in san antonio and portland in an effort to get a new ballpark in miami. i understand what it is to threaten relocation. and i also know to get a deal done. you have to get right to the edge of the end. and i think that's pretty close to where we are, but not quite sampson says other than ok for major league baseball. there's been no meaningful progres in las vegas. while there are numerous possible road blocks. that's why despite what's happened over the last few months, he says it's not too late. and i went through that with the public officials in miami when we went a very long time without speaking and the first meeting back at the table. was really more about subjugating. might you go apologizing for how things had gone and apologizing for the lack of communication. and it

>> 25 kron four's your local election headquarters. voters in santa clara. we'll decide in march if they want to continue electing their police chief and city clerk or if they want to change that process. santa clear is the only city in the state to elect its police chief. the city created 2 measures to change the process. this for the city clerk measure be for the police chief. both need at least 50% of the vote to pass. south bay state senator dave cortese and a new bill wants to speed up medical care for farm workers injured from the heat. if this passes, it would expedite claims so that farm workers and their families can get timely compensation and medical treatment. and also it encourages employers to follow. he safety regulations. senator cortese says that climate change is bringing record breaking temperatures and it's a growing threat to the safety of our state's

agricultural workers. california law already requires agriculture employers provide shade hydration access, rest breaks and heat illness. prevention training. it's 10:26am. >> and water slides in the south bay, the popular water park raging waters in san jose set to reopen this summer. they first opened in 1985, but then closed when the owners pulled out last september. the city of san jose didn't want the kids to go another summer without water slides. so they made a deal with california dreaming entertainment to reopen. raging waters. the company will invest 6 million dollars into the park and pay san jose 6% of its gross revenue and rent. once the deal is approved by the city cjuncil, then the new operators can schedule an opening day this summer. stay tune. kids. in the meantime, not a water park, but the water is going to be coming to the bay area for sure in the form of 2 storms. form of 2 storms. >> john, we'll have all the mom's gonna love this!

since mayor sheng thao fire on armstrong from the role. but i am no longer confident that chief armstrong can do the work needed to achieve the vision. so today. i have decided to separate from chief leronne armstrong from the city without cause. mayor thao says a lack of confidence that armstrong's ability. >> came after a report from a law firm working for the federal monitor. robert warshaw, the report alleged mishandling by armstrong of to officer misconduct cases. the city has been subject to federal monitoring for the last 2 decades. and armstrong has filed a lawsuit against the city claiming he was fired retaliation for speaking out against warshaw attorney. will edelman is representing armstrong in the case when somebody engages in some type of activity that's protected from one of one of the bases. here is the first amendment's right to free speech. and another is reporting misconduct. your employer can't terminate. you're just because you're engaged protected activity. that's exactly what the chief is alleging happened here. both city council members declined to comment thursday because of the ongoing lawsuit between armstrong in the city. but

gallo continues to be a supporter of armstrong. it would like to see him reinstated as the city's police chief citing his ability to bring in extra resources when we needed to reach out to whether it's the fbi or the highway patrol or the county sheriff, he was able to coordinate that and do that reporting the newsroom. i'm rob nesbitt kron. 4 news. >> it's and found 4 is your local election headquarters. proposition b is on the ballot in san francisco. it would create minimum police staffing levels, but it would require the new positions to be paid for with a new tax or revenue. that's outside the general fund. and that's something that supervisor matt dorsey says he's not in favor of. >> it says that it's going to have at minimum police staffing levels. it don't do that without a tax hike. it says that it's going to establish a recruiting fund. it won't do that without a tax hike and it says. that it's going increase but beats and have officers on the street. it won't do any of that

without attacks that this is the most misunderstood measure on the ballot. it is also a measure that implicates the number one issue that san franciscans are facing right now in public safety challenges that was played out yesterday when we saw the latest city people, san franciscans overwhelmingly feel strongly that we need to make progress on police staffing and on public safety. this is a measure that directly implicates that. >> these are some of the results of a city beat paul, that dorsey was talking about. it's an annual poll by the chamber of commerce and find 72% of voters say that san francisco is on the wrong track. and that's only slightly better than 77% recorded last year. only about a 3rd say they feel safe downtown at night. the state capitals also looking at ways have new legislation now to o- address retail theft. and our capitol correspondent eytan wallace takes a closer look at that.

>> well, speaker events as part of this proposal are still in the works, but he and democratic leaders presented an overall framework they believe will combat retail theft. organized retail theft is a problem that we need to tackle. that's exactly what somebody speaker robert reeva says he's aiming to do with new legislation just introduced. >> chair of the assembly, retail theft, select committee, democrat rick chavez burger and chair of the assembly public safety committee. democrat kevin mccarty joined reavis to formally announce the california retail theft reduction act. their description, a comprehensive set of reforms to address the issue of retail crime. well, this group makes clear the legislation is still coming together and will likely include changes following meetings with stakeholders. for now, this is the basic framework. first, the proposal put into law a penalty of prison up to 3 years for those convicted of stealing property with the intent to second, the bill will allow for what's known as aggregation, meaning several thefts committed by

one person can all add up to meet the larger penalty for grand theft. 3rd on the issue of data, transparency, retailers will be required to provide data they've collected 4th. the bill calls for an expansion of diversion rehab programs like drug courts and 5th. the idea is to provide law enforcement with the tools to keep repeat offenders in custody. this package says to organized crime rings, we need business and we're giving law enforcement the tools that they need to shut you down. we won't sweep this issue under the rug. >> and there will be a robust answer dealing with the issue of a retail theft in california, but not included in the bill. a proposal to repeal prop. 47 passed by california voters in 2014. the law change certain nonviolent crimes from felonies to misdemeanors, including theft when the items stolen are valued at less than $950. >> while supporters have long argued the law will help reduce california's prison population and lead to criminal justice reform opponents, including something member tom lackey say emboldened criminals to take

part in certain crimes like retail theft, but little to no punishment from 47 was heavily contributed to the problem. >> and so in order to find a solution to have to first address the problem. and that's front 47 and ahead of friday's bill introduction deadline until we could see at least a dozen other bills on retail theft introduced in the legislature reporting at the state capitol. a tom wallace kron. 4 news. >> it's 10 36 in the south bay, san jose police arrested a man for a shooting that happened at a hotel last month. investigators say fernando macias shot a man at a hotel on north for a 4th street and the victim did have life-threatening injuries but was later stabilized. acs was arrested at a hotel in santa clara on tuesday and now he's in jail on to attempted homicide charges. 10 37. and right now the chp is looking for an suv to find out if a woman is okay and this is

something that happened in san francisco's potrero hill. but this suv could be anywhere now. so officers want you to take a look at this picture. it's a silver acura, mdx that they're hoping to find because a witness said that they saw i'm a woman trying to run away from that vehicle. and then a man in the car grabbed her and forced her into the car. it happened last friday night on the right shoulder of highway 101, near vermont street. anybody who sees this suv is asked to contact the police. now an update on a story that we first brought you on kron 4 in the morning news here where a 3rd person now has died in the crash. we told you yesterday morning happened on the bay bridge. lower deck. remember we told you how this mini cooper was headed eastbound. it was going from san francisco to the east bay and it was in the 4th lane just stopped before treasure island in the dark. it was 4 in the morning when a pickup truck ended up plowing into the back of that mini cooper.
