3:18 pm
you get home tonight. but in the overnight we'll see that one half an inch to an inch for most spots, one to 2 inches in the north bay second system coming in sunday afternoon through wednesday. that one we're talking about one and a half to 3 inches in urban areas and 3 to 6 inches in our mountains. that's where we already have saturated ground at that point, right where we have this first system that rolls in and that second system is where we're going to see the concern for flooding. and that's why we have a flood watch. that's just he's got up for sunday morning through wednesday morning because this is going to be adding to, you know, already kind of having credit of rain on the ground after saturday. so you can see tomorrow we've got a marginal flood risk that kind of the lowest category for most of the area. and we have slight up in the north bay, but we head into sunday and that starts to change that slight lead risk. now incorporates most of the bay area. so that just means that as we go along, we kind of get into a little bit more danger where this is concerned for system moving in overnight tonight through your saturday. so we're going to have a bit of a soggy saturday. saturday night catches a little bit of a break to sunday morning.
3:19 pm
second system rolling in notice how this one doesn't truck in so quickly. it kinda hangs out. takes its time. and that's why it's going to generate more rain and snow with it as it rolls in. now, at the moment, we just are dealing with clouds and a little bit of a sprinkle out there, as you can see right here in the north bay. i want to mention as well as we get into saturday. we also have a high surf advisory. so the coast is going to get dangerous meeting, sneaker waves and dangerous surf. obviously, it's not going to be a great day to be held at the coast, but if you are anywhere near there, just please, please be careful. obviously felt horrible stories at the coast of people getting into real trouble. so 10:00am saturday until 04:00pm sunday, saturday and sunday. make sure you're staying clear of that. let's put this all together. now, take a look at our extended forecast. so we get into tonight. the clouds stick with us. tomorrow, rain and wind. then we'll catch a break saturday night into sunday morning sunday. second wave, bigger system coming in. more and more kind of intense coming in had could have a few thunderstorms associated with that, too. that rolls in for heavy rain on monday. kind of

true kind of carries over to your tuesday. and that starts to lighten up on wednesday. by wednesday. later in the day, we're looking pretty good. and then we get to thursday and friday. we actually have some really nice weather headed our way. but just get ready for this as we roll into this weekend. back to you. thank you. so all of these tents are supposed to be cleared out from stanford by today after almost 4 months of camping out. >> on campus, pro-palestinian demonstrators and the university reached a deal to end this protest. the students have been asking stanford to call for a cease-fire between israel, hamas among some of its demands. the university has agreed to meet with the students to discuss those demands. in exchange, students must break down their encampment. stanford also posted that it will not pursue legal or disciplinary action against the students. and this is coming as the world is now focusing on the city of rafah as the israelis have made it clear they intend to carry out a ground operation. there. reporter robert sherman reports now from tel aviv with the latest. new satellite

day at the state capitol because it's the last day for lawmakers to introduce bills this year. >> all proposals must be introduced no later than 5
3:45 pm
o'clock tonight, capitol correspondent eytan wallace reports. >> what we're talking bills on all kinds of matters from housing to homelessness to hate crimes. with the striking the gavel, lawmakers got to work friday ahead of the big 05:00pm deadline to introduce bills. the clerk will now open just how many bills are we talking about by the time this interview was shot with georgia school of law professor chris mckay. le late friday morning, more than 1500 bills have already been introduced. and as the 05:00pm deadline approached, that number kept growing. i'm expecting just over 2000 bills by 5 o'clock among the bills introduced, several are focused on housing, including one from assembly member alex lee targeting corporations trying to buy single-family homes. specifically the proposal would prevent corporations that own more than 1000 single-family homes from purchasing additional properties and converting them into rentals. why it's so important is because we have a housing crisis, a shortage of homes available. and when
3:46 pm
corporations outbid out compete, hard-working families from their dream of being a homeowner. >> that's a big problem on the issue of homelessness, republican assembly member josh hoover co authored a bill known as the beyond housing measure. it's very simple. it's simply repeals the requirement that we can only spend money on housing first programs. >> and it allows other types of programs that are actually getting people out of the cycle of homelessness are actually getting people, drug abuse, treatment and mental health treatment. >> and helping them get their lives back on track. former assembly speaker anthony rendon makes clear, though, combating homelessness often requires communication between various counties. he's introduced a bill to extend the program, enabling counties to share information and better coordinate homelessness services. its very frustrating when you have these agencies not talking. have people working in silos. >> when you have the not sharing the available on public safety. assemblymember evan low introduced a bill to strengthen hate crime enforcement, including a
3:47 pm
proposal allowing judges to issue a search warrant in cases a misdemeanor hate crimes with so painful is that we've seen the most vulnerable community is being attacked just for being who they are. what's important is that we stand for and that we're demonstrating to our community that this will not be tolerated and that perpetrators will be prosecuted accordingly. and then there's a bill from republican assembly member tom lackey to increase the use of license plate readers statewide to help find missing people. we have the technology available. >> why in the world would we want to save lives? but all the bills come as the state faces a projected multi-billion dollar budget deficit. 80 1% of all bills introduced have some sort of fiscal impact. >> and so the budget is definitely going to overshadow quite a few bills this year. is the beginning of a months long process ahead to make it to the governor's desk. bills must first go through various committees and both houses of the legislature reporting at the state capitol. a tom wallace kron, 4 news. >> all right. one last check

of our forecast this afternoon with a quick live look outside of the san mateo bridge. no windshield wipers here, but come this time tomorrow. what you think it will look i think it will look like rain. haha. >> i know i hate to be the bearer of bad news as we head toward the weekend, right? nobody wants to hear it. but >> i want to take a moment talk about wind. nice and calm now. but one of the components of these systems is they're going to bring not just rain but also wind along with them, which gets a little tricky when you start to have saturated ground, right? so i wanted to bring this up. just you're ready for it and show you tonight. we're fine with the wind. but tomorrow afternoon, it does start to pick up in a kind of continues right through the evening. there as we get to saturday at about 6 o'clock and it happens again on sunday and monday. so this is sunday afternoon about 2 o'clock. again, you see that wind starting to pick up. so just be ready for this when it happens. part again of this low pressure system, one of 2, the second one sitting right back here in kind of see it there. that counter clockwise circulation, they're going to be rolling in. so we can see already some of this moisture plume starting to make its

way. and so far, just some sprinkles out there and some clouds. but that will change as we get into the overnight we are looking at a live look here from the east bay, but it looks like my picture has dropped out a little bit. just to show you the current temperatures, though, we do have a little bit of work that they're in san jose about 64 degrees 60 in concord. everyone else sitting in the 50's. this is the thing we have to look out for this weekend. second hit of rain. it is. we're going to have rain on top of rain, right? so we start to get this excessive runoff happening. that's why we have a flood watch going up sunday morning through wednesday morning. that's when our flooding concerns are going to happen. and the rivers, creeks and streams are places that we're going to need to keep an eye on. so this is our first bit of rain coming in in the overnight tonight. there's 11 o'clock tonight. we get home dry, no problems. tomorrow morning we wake up. this is when the light rain starts and then kind of the heavier showers roll in. as we get into the afternoon, this about 2 o'clock in the afternoon. you can see some of those oranges and yellows between about 02:00pm and 05:00pm. i think that's will have the heavier downpours. bit of a break saturday night, which is kind of nice into sunday morning. and then the second hit coming
3:50 pm
in. this is going to be a very robust system sunday into monday. and we're going to see this kind of form of several waves of rain there come in. and you can see some of those are very heavy. so that's the second hit of rate. this is the first one we're going to be on saturday. north bay getting an inch to an inch and a half. everybody bunch less than that. more like a half an inch to an inch. but this is that second rain that comes in there's monday night. you can see kind of continues and lingers into tuesday and even a little bit of wednesday. so it just means that that's the part we have to be careful. is that monday, tuesday, wednesday, when we've got all that rain that's come in on top of rain notice, by the way, sunday to monday, we also have the threat of a little bit of a thunderstorm there, too. so once we're done with all of this, we get over to thursday and friday, we start warming up and will start clearing out and have some nice weather. but it's going to be a little bit of a rough ride to just get ready for it. as we head through the weekend. back to thank you. the nba all-star weekend starts tomorrow. and that means for about 24 hours away from the much anticipated 3
