like by tomorrow winds are not doing much any of anything. but by tomorrow, it looks like they'll be a little pop that we've been talking about ever. so briefly, calm winds to single digits prevailed. most the readings in the 40's right now. 54 san francisco. 51 on for half moon bay. we just were also san jose. but chilling numbers off to tri valley. look at that at 40 going on for a livermore in 44 for concord, there's a contrast there. kind of hodgepodge little warmer, little cooler than yesterday. pretty close. the breakdown today as the sun and clouds mixture, high temperatures not as generous middle to even some upper 60's. but hey, for late february, still looking good on that. it looks like we have some unsettled weather late next week. we'll be getting to that more coming up in about 70. all right, dave, thank you. >> the family of a san francisco hit and run victim is mourning his death this morning. the victim's father says his 31 year-old son was struck and killed in the soma neighborhood earlier this month. kron four's amanda hari reports.

friends. see of friends is a i'll go. if you're bridges, father's trying to raise money for funeral expenses and cremation, he plans to give all of bridges, family members, a small amount of his ashes in the form of a necklace. everybody. happy sunday. >> and that was kron four's amanda hari reporting for us. san francisco police are still looking for a suspect. if you think you have information about the case, please call sfpd. would you say police are sgating the fatal shooting of a 16 year-old boy in antioch. investigators say ithaened this morning on to pella way. the boy was found shot for infant suffering from a gunshot wound. he was taken to the hospital where he died. the investigation is ongoing. and they stay broken. police are seeing an uptick in car thefts reporting more than 50 reports of burglaries and attempted burglaries in less than a week. police also seeing 23 car burglaries at the north berkeley station, brooklyn bar. police are

working together on this investigation. so far no arrests have been made. fire crews will continue to work to contain a strong odor coming from the valero refinery in benicia. officials say a unit at the refinery went down friday night and they had to remove a mixture of refined carbs, hydrocarbons. they had to move that into 2 takes. and some of that got in on to the little bit tank, which is what caused the bad smell. cleanup efforts were paused last night but are expected to resume this morning. fire officials and the nations say intermittent flaring will continue for the time being if you plan to be in santa rosa this weekend, part of westbound highway 12 will be closed for road repairs. the closure between santa rosa and dutton avenues is set to be in place through monday morning. at 5 o'clock with full closures at night in partial ones in the morning highway 12 eastbound stays open for a full list of closures. head to our website. kron 4 dot com. police arrested a woman in millbrae. she is accused of

driving a stolen rental car. san mateo county sheriff's deputies say they were notified of the suspect with a woman allegedly drove past a license plate reader saturday afternoon. the suspect was pulled over on north rollins road and arrested without incident. in the north. they officers arrested a man in santa rosa for allegedly pointing a gun at another car in traffic. police say the victim involved got the suspect's license plate as he sped off friday afternoon. officers later apprehended the suspect near pine or and fulton road. he had 2 loaded guns on him. officials say police arrested him on multiple charges. in the east bay. oakland a's fans hosted fanfest at jack london square saturday and many continue to protest the a's recent relocation attempts to las vegas. we heard from organizers. >> this year is definitely quite a bit bigger because after the rivers pointe our in many ways became that voice of the fan of the oakland a's.

sprayed by some clouds into the afternoon a little bit. we'll call kind of variable clouds on balance for still going to see quite a bit of sunshine and maybe not quite as warm as it was from yesterday, futurecast for relatively uneventful here. there's some of those variable clouds we just referenced tonight, starting to thicken up a little bit and there's little shot of rain. we're talking about early into the we know don't blink. you're going to miss it. this is about it. and then it all dressed to the south and we're done. we go to kind of a quiet phase from tuesday and wednesday and then by the end of the week, things change in a big way. and then we go to our traditional storm pattern coming in from the northwest through the next weekend. it looks like lets see the winds now because want to note no advisory anything like this, but because that system drops south, we do get a pop as you can some winds going on here. they're onshore in the get up to about the 20 mile per hour range. not long-lasting either. by the way, that window is going to be only a few hours and then it kind of dissipates for us. so kind of a breakdown for us. variable

clouds and mild going on today. you know, you've got the upper 60's near 70 still in places like the south bay, the early in the week, monday as clouds and that spotty shower. you blink, you miss it. and then tuesday, wednesday, sunny, nice little break going on here. almost little flavor spring almost but not quite as warm as we saw from yesterday. then late in the week thursday. onward unsettled. we're kind of monitoring how this is all going to play out. but we might actually get some colder air filtering in when it's all said and done. 61, san francisco mild with scattered clouds. 64 for oakland and 70. meanwhile for san jose is going to one of the pockets you'll see in the 4 zone forecast of those warmer temperatures. there's your temperature map. there are a lot of 60's today. so not bad on the temperature front. everything will see probably a decent amount of sunshine as well like we did from yesterday ever break a brief little rain spurt and then towards of the week unsettled. it is. and that's to be interesting for mountain snows to ok, so some good news, perhaps year's and snowboarders. it looks like it but not to go up there as the yet. >> yeah. got to be careful. thanks so much, dave. yeah.

all right. well, officials from the central sierra snow lab, they say that our state actually needs more snow before april first was just talking about that right? >> that's when the deadline. that's the deadline. when the melt season begins. zach boetto has the details for us. >> snow falling california over the last 6 weeks has been enough to keep skiers and snowboarders. happy. but experts say the state still needs more snow to meet their goals before the april first deadline. we just need more storms. right now. the state snowfall total is near 70% of the snowfall average on april. 1st, doctor andrew schwartz from the uc berkeley's central sierra snow lab says if the snowfall stops here and there's no more through march and the state would have to pull water from its reservoirs to make up for that additional if we were to level off, not that many storms were only a still below 3 quarters of what we would want for april. first average. >> and that would put us behind the ball leading into

late spring and summer. once the snow starts stops coming in. >> thanks to last year's totals and what we've seen so far this year. most of the reservoirs here in the northern and central parts of the state are at or above 100% historical average. so pulling water from them wouldn't be a major problem. but it's less than ideal. >> shasta don't pay all. these are above average except assemblies. and so that shows just still the last year's big water. your was paying dividends with more storms in the forecast looking past this weekend. >> doctor schwartz says he's cautiously optimistic for the snow. california needs. >> realistically speaking, the key number in the statewide summary is that 69% of the april first average. so we have been clawing our way back and that's been fantastic. but we do need the storm window to stay overnight. >> and still ahead on the kron 4 morning news, a new poll

this new inside california politics? emerson college poll gives us a good look at the race for california's open u.s. senate seat. the results showing democrat adam schiff in the lead with 28% and republican former major league baseball players to garvey in second with 22%. and 3rd democrat katie porter with 16%. and rounding out the top 4 democrat barbara lee with 9%, all other senate candidates pulled that 2% or lower people are trying to make up their mind mumford of emerson college polling help to conduct a survey just days following our exclusive televised u.s. senate debate. we want to welcome our candidates who are here in the studio with us. mumford says the debate together with ballots received in the mail and an increase in campaigning have led to voters becoming more decisive. the number of undecided voters now stands at 17% reflecting a decrease of 7 point since our last poll last month. it seemed to be kind proportionally moving toward ship garvey in porter. i issues porter earned the most

the san francisco chronicle shows a majority of residents do not approve of the way. mayor london breed is running the city. that poll included more than 800 likely voters and found more than 70% disapproved of her performance as mayor. the chronicle also says of voters are disappointed with how the mayor has been handling public safety. homelessness, drug overdoses and housing affordability. when the question of who residents are leaning more towards for mayor. well, former interim mayor mark farrell did get the highest percentage all the candidates, but 38% of residents either said that they we're not in favor of any of the candidates or simply undecided at this time. and history is being made any office black history month. 2 sisters are opening the very first winery in town. the duo started making their own wine during the pandemic and they had some trouble convincing places to carry their products. so they decided to invest in their own business kron four's also the money and takes us to the poor up wine bar.

>> thousands of acres of ranch land in california is now designated for preservation. the state wildlife conservation board issuing a 10 million dollar grant affecting 27,000 acres of the cam at a ranch in santa margarita in san luis obispo county. the preserve land will be the size of san francisco and includes areas that are native habitat for nearly 300 animal species. a ban on octopus farming has been introduced in the california state assembly. the bill seeks to ban the farming of octopus on both land and sea. according to the proposal methods used on those farms are inhumane and the species is not suited for large-scale breathing. the legislation also bans the import of farm raised octopus to california. similar bills were introduced in washington state and hawaii. and check this out.

the torrential downpours from this month's storms have collected to form a very rare lake in death valley. rainfall has gathered to create this temporary phenomenon at bad wather water bazan where the intense he usually evaporates any rain that falls the national park service as death valley usually gets about 2 inches of rain every year. but so nearly 5 inches in the last 6 months. combine that with runoff from nearby mountains. that's a much more. and you've got one of the rarest lakes in the world right now. the lake is only about a foot deep and it's expected to last just a few weeks. people are taking advantage of it and even kayaking on this new lake. pretty cool phenomenon there. and taking a live look now from our sutro cam this morning. beautiful view of the golden gate bridge is 7.45. dave, how are things looking in the weather center? okay. it looks like a pretty good sunday, maybe not quite as picturesque as we had from yesterday, but at least holding on pretty nicely today. >> and a few little stray

cremation. he plans to give all of bridges, family members, a small amount of his ashes in the form of a necklace. everybody. happy sunday. >> that was kron four's amanda hari reporting for us this morning. san francisco police are still looking for the suspect. if you think you have information about the case, please call sfpd. they police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 16 year-old boy in antioch. investigators say it happened saturday morning on to away. the boy was found suffering from a gunshot wound 2 miles away on observation way. he was taken to a hospital where he died. the investigation is ongoing. in the east bay, brooklyn. police are seeing an uptick in car thefts reporting more than 50 reports of burglaries and attempted burglaries in less than a week. our police also reporting 23 car burglaries at the north berkeley station, brooklyn bar. police are working together on the investigation. so far no arrests have been made. fire

crews will continue working to contain a strong odor coming from the valero refinery in benicia. officials say unit at the refinery went down friday night. they had to move a mixture of refined hydrocarbons into 2 takes some of the hydrocarbon got onto the lid of a tank causing the bad smell. officials say cleanup efforts were paused last night, but resume this morning. fire officials and nations say intermittent flaring will continue for the time being. if you plan to be in santa rosa eekend, part of westbound highway 12 will be closed forroad repairs. the closure between santa rosa and dutton avenues is set to be in place through monday morning. at 5 o'clock with full closures at night and partial ones in the morning highway 12 eastbound stays open for a full list of closures. head to our website. kron 4 dot com. police arrested a woman in millbrae. she is accused of driving a stolen rental car. san mateo county sheriff's deputies say that they were notified of the suspect when the woman allegedly drove past a license plate reader saturday afternoon. the suspect was pulled over on north rollins

afterwards. it looks like and that's the end of the things get quite interesting back to that. when pop here again for today. not much in the way of winds. they're actually coming from the southwest a bit. then a little front drops south. we get again that pop of onshore winds briefly give or take maybe 3, 6, hours or so. this will be on a sunday or rather monday afternoon into the evening. briefly. and you can see wind winds kind of stay there with a light breeze variable clouds today on balance, we'll call it mild still for the season with those upper 60's and still we'll pop about 70 looks like down in the south bay. now early in the week. the deal is monday clouds and that little shower comes by whatever. and we take a break. tuesday wednesday, sunny, in its mild, though, not real lofty will be in the 60's mid-sixties maybe lower 60's and then late in the week thursday. onward unsettled lot. so we're looking at rain coming in several systems and colder. a big drop with temperatures. we have now highs again, noting some of those variable clouds not so much the fog this morhing, but the variable clouds we got about 61 going on san francisco. 64 for

and the year of the dragon. we are only a few hours out before the fair opens at 9 o'clock. so about hour out this morning. but you can see rows of tents lined up. we have 120 vendors here once again today. this is one of the community's most exciting times of the year. said chinese chamber of commerce says that they have activities and entertainment for all ages to enjoy here. this community fair will go until this afternoon around 5 o'clock is when they will wrap up. we also want to talk about the show last night for some of you. the spectacular chinese new year parade around 150 floats rolled through the city with thousands of people lined up along the parade route check them out. >> the parade is one of the few remaining night illuminated parade in north america and is actually the biggest parade celebrating the lunar new year outside of asia. so today the fun continues here at the community. fair here in chinatown last day to enjoy on sunday today should wrap up

around 5 o'clock. we'll bring you more throughout the morning. stephanie, back to you, right? tiffany sounds like it's going to be a great time. thank you for your coverage. >> with officials from the central sierra snow lab say our state needs more snow before april. 1st. that's the deadline when the melt season begins. sec boetto has the details. >> snow falling california over the last 6 weeks has been enough to keep skiers and snowboarders. happy. but experts say the state still needs more snow to meet their goals before the april first deadline. we just need more storms. right now. the state snowfall total is near 70% of the snowfall average on april. 1st, doctor andrew schwartz from the uc berkeley's central sierra snow lab says if the snowfall stops here and there's no more through march, state would have to pull water from its reservoirs to make up for that additional 30%. if we were to level off, not that many storms were only a still below 3 quarters of what we would want for april. first

average. >> and that would put us behind the ball heading into late spring and summer. once the snow starts stops coming in. >> thanks to last year's totals and what we've seen so far this year, most of the reservoirs here in the northern and central parts of the state are at or above 100% historical average. so pulling water from them wouldn't be a major problem. but it's less than ideal. >> shasta don't pay all. these are above average except for st. louis. and so that shows just still the last year's big water. your was paying dividends with more storms in the forecast looking past this weekend. >> doctor schwartz says he's cautiously optimistic for the snow. california needs realistically speaking. the key number in the statewide summary is that 69% of the april first average. >> so we have been clawing our way back and it's been fantastic. but we do need the storm window to stay overnight.

investigating the fatal shooting of a 16 year-old boy in antioch. investigators say it happened saturday morning on to pull away. the boy was found suffering from a gunshot wound to miles away from off a survation way. he was taken to the hospital where he died. the investigation is ongoing. in the east bay, brooklyn. police are seeing an uptick in car thefts reporting more than 50 reports of burglaries and attempted burglaries in less than a week. our police also reported 23 car burglaries at the north berkeley station, brooklyn park. police are working together on the investigation. so far no arrests have been made. fire crews continue working to contain a strong odor coming from the valero refinery in benicia officials say a unit at the refinery went down friday night. they had to move a mixture of refined hydrocarbons into 2 takes some of that liquid or that mixture, rather got onto a little bit, hang causing the bad smell. cleanup efforts were paused last nht, but resume this morning. fire

south bay early in the week. monday as clouds, a spotty shower. you know, ok, little hit or miss shower. then tuesday, wednesday, sunny. and it's i'll break, but not as warm as we have from saturday. it's winter taking over. boy are going to feel it by late in the week thursday on word that means next weekend and settled in. this is going to be a cold rain. it's going to be coming from the northwest gulf of alaska. that's a traditional pattern that these things take this time of year. we've been getting all this stuff in the lower latitudes lately. so it will be a little drier but will be colder. that's actually good. 61, san francisco open. 64 74 san jose and the big map. you see pretty much the south bay is where those numbers are popping to near about 70. not going to get more into that. that longer-range forecast good for tahoe. picking up more snow on that will certainly could use that. i'm gonna hop on over to stephanie stephanie. >> all right, a haha february is also adopt a rescued rabbit month. and there are many bunnies looking for a forever home right now.

>> so want to lend a helping paw this morning. joining us live now to share more is marcy berman, founder of save a bunny based in mill valley. new warning to marci stephanie, how you doing? i'm doing great, especially now that we've got these adorable friends with us in the studio so to start off tell us a bit about your rescue. >> well, we were founded in about 1999. when i found are bad as i was walking my dog him and i knew nothing about them. >> and so like a lot of people, i started thinking, they're cute, but maybe they're not. they don't have a whole lot to offer. but they really and that's how it started. in the more i learned, the more i learn that they were really the underdog. and i have a thing for the all and you've been rooting for the underdog for over 2 decades and else. yeah, just incredible. your rescues been around for quite sometime in the bay area and tell us a bit about the bunnies that you brought to show our viewers

today. they are available for adoption. these bunny said that brought today are available for adoption. artists ready to go there from of large-scale rescue that we did in petaluma in the there was someone who was breeding lying has these or lion heads, which is sort of a fancy bree. line has got a look like a lion. yeah. and so she was evicted from her property and she left behind dozens of rabbits and the horrific. conditions for all. and so we went in and we got them in. they've all been vetted you that and they're fabulous. they're fabulous. once you get to really know what it's like to live with the rabbit. it's open your heart forever. and it really are the cutest things very photogenic for folks are watching back at home. they're they're cute that they look almost like stuffed animals. there's they're very easy to handle these lion heads. moments,

right. happened is like is just like a cat or a dog or horse. they all have their very own personality as prey animals. they typically prefer to be on our laps. these bunnies. i brought because i know that they're ok will cain handled. and so when you want to adopt a rescue, grab it, you want adopt by personality and any good rescued. like save a bunny will know which rabbit is going to be the right. a family. ok, very good information there for people to know now for folks who are watching this, they're curious and they're interested in adopting what are some key things they should keep in mind that sure they get their home ready? well, they need to fund the proof because bunnies are smart. the most accurate representation of a bunny really is bugs bunny. they're smart. and so you must have a sense of humor. you not have a fragile ego because they will

make you, you know, they will make you know where you stand. time in the hierarchy of things. so what you want to do is you want to a nice, beautiful indoor space for them indoors. only so no outside hutch is. and they use a litter box just like a cat. so yeah, a quiet plus their beak. and so that's like having a vegan cat and thing you can share your food with them. so for example, you're having a salad they can join you from that's why they call it rabbit what's right now? they're very healthy. you know, if people have other pets in the home, is it a good idea to introduce a rabbit? it depends on the other pets, but i live in a multi species household. and so do most of our adopters. you just want to make sure that the bunny always has that choice and well behaved. cats well behaved dogs. they can all get along and often become best

lovely. and what about kids in the house? depending on the rapid depending on the child that's going make a joke about the litter box. but that's not where we were they it really depends on the match. and that's what we specialize in. and that's what's so important. is it you're adding a family member? and some a bunny who can live to be 10 to 15 years old. so you want to make sure that you get the right. the right match, of course, that the chemistry is there as well. so, you know, if there are other ways that people can support the if they may be, no, they're not quite ready for a rabbit yet, but maybe can they volunteer or donate? >> what they can volunteer, they can donate and fostering is super important. for example, we took in 31 rabbits from this rescue and we need to foster homes immediately to help these bunnies get socialized to help them. >> grow up because a lot of them were little babies. and so fostering is a wonderful

central sierra snow lab say our state needs more snow before april. 1st. that's the deadline when the melt season begins. zach boetto has the details. >> snow falling california over the last 6 weeks has been enough to keep skiers and snowboarders. happy. but experts say the state still

needs more snow to meet their goals before the april first deadline. we just need more storms. right now. the state snowfall total is near 70% of the snowfall average on april. 1st, doctor andrew schwartz from the uc berkeley's central sierra snow lab says if the snowfall stops here and there's no more through march, state would have to pull water from its reservoirs to make up for that additional 30%. if we were to level off, not that many storms were only a still below 3 quarters of what we would want for april. first average. >> and that would put us behind the ball heading into late spring and summer. once the snow starts stops coming in. >> thanks to last year's totals and what we've seen so far this year, most of the reservoirs here in the northern and central parts of the state are at or above 100% historical average. so pulling water from them wouldn't be a major problem. but it's less than ideal. >> shasta don't pay all. these

are above average except for st. louis. and so that shows just still the last year's big water year is paying dividends with more storms in the forecast looking past this weekend. >> doctor schwartz says he's cautiously optimistic for the snow. california needs realistically speaking. the key number in the statewide summary is that 69% of the april first average. >> so we have been clawing our way back and it's been fantastic. but we do need the storm window to stay over. >> this week, the world marked 2 years since the invasion of ukraine. the area nonprofit noble ukraine says they are in dire need of donations, medical supplies for hospitals is a top priority. ukraine added that troops abroad need continued support from the west because they cannot fight off russia alone. >> 2 years later that the needs in ukraine. and so the challenges and ukraine haven't been. west. then when this all

front. we'll pop some winds here for us ever. so briefly and the advisory strength. but we're going to be more of those traditional winds that on the backside conditions cool off a little bit, but it gets interesting in the longer range forecast. however, we take care of this traffic. first things first very familiar coming from the mid latitudes with all of this where we still kind of bar not as sunny as yesterday, but temperatures on the mild side. so that passes south. let's get back to winter. oh, yeah. so the systems from the northwest dropping out of the gulf of alaska. this is the type of winter weather we tend to see. now, the thing about it is this tends to be a not as moist as those lower latitudes systems because it's coming from warmer climate. so therefore has more moisture that's ok, because i get this mountain snows to collect up there and that we can use looks unsettled all throughout the weekend. and then finally settling down early into the following to watch that carefully. see how that comes together. but the models are telling look out for this. 61, san francisco to the coast. let's to about 60 ish or so for high. not bad for winter.

63 for burlingame. 65 foster city, palo alto at 66 in the south bay. that's where you might start to see numbers popping about 70 for a san jose. 67 going on for cupertino. mid 60's east bay shoreline will try valley coming in the upper 60's here. 65 danville, maybe walnut creek at 66. 64 for oakland. 62 valais whoa 65 for a fairfield inn. 65% santa rosa. so again, we have this traffic early on the next couple of days. we get into that dry patch tuesday wednesday, that cooler, but not a whole lot cooler. and then look how we drop off thursday friday, saturday. look at those overnight lows in the 30's coupled with having precipitation and it's something warm to warming up here. what's are you thinking about dinner today? >> well, we have some options for you here. try valley restaurant. we kicked off on friday for the 4th year and the event highlights some of the best restaurants and breweries in pleasanton livermore, dublin, danville and san ramon joining us live
