handford is calling a tornado. they say this is this afternoon in madera county and you can see clearly a funnel cloud. tough to see in the that it makes contact with the ground, which is what constitutes a tornado versus a funnel cloud. but if the national weather serviceuis calling that they probably have intel you can't really see from this video. but just reminder of how volatile this storm system is. we've had thunder that we could hear a in san francisco and this is in madera county. so not that's unheard of that that don't see a tornado to. yeah. when you get this cold, unstable air like this, i mean, we could even see some like that pop up around the bay area. they're not very strong. >> but we have on the snowmen county earlier this season, right, that we can see that easily happen again. but that's very active out there right now in the high country. and they are just getting pounded. it is dangerous in the sierra nevada. we talk about to get closed because of all that snow coming down. this is looking incline village. well, now you can to see now that a lot of snow

piling up on the lands here. but last hour, you can see all the way lake not now. and that's because all the snow that is coming down. so 15, 80, it is just a rough go. and it's just going to be a terrible time to head up there and dangerous time to try and get up in the mountains tonight. they've seen some gusts over the mountain tops 150 plus miles per hour the peaks there. i mean, this is really coming down and to go along with that. you're seeing heavy snow. and so you're going to see those whiteout conditions across the sierra nevada, thunderstorms up in the foothills as well. bear valley. yeah. you get a lot of snow in that direction. long 3.95 as well. and so, yeah, don't do it. kind of situation. stay away from this one. you'll save yourself a lot of time. a lot of effort. maybe your life, too. as the blizzard conditions going to continue right through sunday. heavy snow and it's going to come way down. itthink as we get in towards saturday and into sunday, maybe all the way down to 1000 feet or so very low level snow, maybe as much as 6 feet of snow at lake level of south lake tahoe. if that happens, that's going to

paralyze that area and 10 plus feet of snow, maybe 12 feet of snow. by the time we added up across the higher peaks. dangerous driving conditions. you bet possible white out. we've already seen the closures begin. you can see the blizzard warnings not only just along the crest of the sierra nevada. i mean, it's all the way down into the foothills. you see the areas shaded in orange here down to a couple 1000 feet. and now we're watching some of that snow piling up. you get a strong gusty winds so that snow is piling up across some of those peaks and starting to build up quite a bit. so the possibility creating some avalanche conditions. so avalanche warnings now in effect until 5 o'clock on sunday. those may have to be extended to further south as we're going to see a whole lot of snow across the entire sierra, nevada backed. here's the forecast for us. still 3 to 6 inches across parts of clear lake to the north there, lake county, you're seeing some pretty good snow. but up in the sierra nevada. yeah, they're going to be adding up some tremendous totals ahead. boy, just rough getting up there. blizzard conditions tonight. very cold temperatures. you're trapped out there overnight. lows going to be dropping off into

attorney and former member of the israeli defense force ran bar-yoshafat was evacuated on thursday. the american jewish committee which advocates for the well being of jewish people and the country of israel sent letters to alameda county district attorney pamela price and the department of justice, assistant attorney general for civil rights. kristen clarke calling for a criminal investigation on uc berkeley following monday night's protest art. >> position is that this is not ordinary college high jinx. this is a direct assault on the college as a place of free inquiry. and it therefore needs to be treated with greater seriousness. then excess of exuberance by college students the assistant vice chancellor of executive communications at uc berkeley says. >> there have been numerous similar events on campus since the hamas attack in israel on october 7. the start of the war in gaza. the question is why was this allowed to happen? >> and that that requires some explanation from university,

advisor. this story had been published by the student run newspaper. the oracle, the lawsuit is asking for the right to publish the story and for the reinstatement of the advisors. well, as the journalism class, the adviser created the district in principle have 30 days to respond to this lawsuit. the san francisco unified school district is getting a new payroll system. this comes after employees in the district say they have been receiving accurate paychecks for nearly 2 years as fsu dt. will it bring a contract to the board of education later on this month for approval with a target date for fully implementing the new system july 2025. superintendent doctor matt wayne says that the decision was made after thoughtful and careful consideration as the 3rd largest employer in the city. >> san francisco mayor london breed is praising the reduction in the number of homeless tense on city streets, according to a new report by the city tents

delays at sfo. they continue to be an issue. it's going to be a wild night. we've got rain, wind, some thunderstorms likely going to see a few flakes of snow over our mountain tops. how about that? mainly above 2000 feet, especially in the north bay, maybe a 3,000 people that i make your way, hamilton, but a cold showers continuing tomorrow, especially as we look toward tomorrow afternoon with the possibility of more thunderstorms erupting around the bay area. partly cloudy and chile on sunday with a few lingering showers throughout the day. well, we're looking at the temperatures. boy, what a change we've had since midweek. these numbers now hovering in the 50's, even some 40's already in the north bay. and i think tomorrow it's probably going to be cooler than this is about warm as it's going to get the winds out of the pacific generating some big swells to watch out for that 20 footers along the coastline. breaking right out toward the beaches, danger. so rip currents out there, too. alright, thunderstorms erupting across the bay area. the central valley reports of a possible tornado in the central valley today. we see video on that and the bay area

been seeing some thunderstorms outside tonight and more that will continue as we head throughout the evening hours. we're seeing some pretty decent storms out there right now. one making its way into the north bay mill valley get pounded by some heavier continue to make your way into as well. more showers and possible thunderstorms in toward pleasanton and livermore. little bit of a break in the santa clara valley back along the coastline. another round of rain begin to move on shore and that continues up the peninsula. the san francisco too. so overall, this pattern is going to stay very, very active as we head throughout the weekend. it's going to be storm after storm after storm. you'll see some breaks in between but a lot of rain in some cold temperatures go along with that highs tomorrow, 40's and 50's. that is about it is going to be cold day and likely going to see some mountain snow sunday. a few more lingering showers, maybe a chance of a few showers on monday and tuesday. finally, some dry weather by next thursday. all right. look forward to that. thank you. lauren swell. it's a little burned out shell tonight. oakland's beloved horn bbq. you may recall was vandalized
