and it's really easy for some of the coming off the sidelines and deface it. >> and a business struggling to survive after vandalism. we'll have more coming up. when fun time from the bay area's local news station. you're watching kron. 4 news. tonight to investigation is underway after a tire fell off united airlines flight departing sfo. good evening. thanks for joining us for kron. 4 news at 10. >> i'm ken wayne and i'm vicki liviakis. that flight was en route to japan, but it had to divert. >> to lax. our kron 4, sarah stinson joins us now live at sfo. sarah were exactly did that tire land. >> yeah. the tire of a united airplane landed in this parking lot of came crashing down into this employee parking crashing onto the

cars. thankfully no one inside of them because these tires are massive, we're told, are about 5 feet tall and they weigh about 300 pounds. >> united flight 35 departed sfo for osaka just before 11 thursday morning. immediately after takeoff, one of the plane's tires sell-off crashing down onto cars in an employee parking lot. you can see where this tire landed and the destruction it caused. take a look this car got completely defense almond and united employee went to check on his car as soon as he got off work. don't worry, you know, was kind. so the area. >> you know, they fortunately, you know, to set >> the boeing 7, 7, 7, was diverted to los angeles where it landed safely. passengers got transferred to another plane. now the faa and ntsb

more care before people get on the planes. >> and the tire has been removed from the impact of floyd parking lot. investigators will be examining it along with parts of the plain to see what caused the latest mishap in the sky. i'm sara stinson reporting live at sfo. back to you. >> thank you. chair of the fallen wheel. just one of the recent boeing they that company's been facing coming up at 10, 30. we're going to take a look at other recent recent incidents, including that midair door blowout end and engine fire. >> meantime, all lanes are back open tonight on 5.80, following a police chase that began with the death of a woman. police say that the suspect in the case shot the woman at a home in pleasanton and then shot himself on the shoulder of westbound 5.80, near san leandro. kron four's. amanda harry is live in the pleasanton neighborhood after talking to people who live there and she has more for us.

amanda. >> everyone i spoke to here says this neighborhood is extremely quiet and they experience almost no crime, but still nearly 12 hours later, we have police officers here on the scene still investigating. all the people say they're sad to hear that this happened, but they're grateful the threat is over. a little bit strange and shocking that help people who live in this neighborhood described what happened thursday. >> saginaw circle near santa rita road and west lost see does boulevard covered crime scene tape amid a murder suicide investigation this morning at around 11 o'clock >> i some loud bangs, apparently there was a gunshot at that time. i didn't recognize it as a question. this woman who didn't want to appear on camera. >> says she was home in

pleasanton. police responded and found the victim dead with multiple gunshot wounds. that and they came in. she says she's lived in this complex since 1997, but she has never seen a police presence like this one. the shooting was then almost immediately followed by a police chase. there are requesting assistance. their officers were actively in pursuit of a known a murder suspect on 5.80. that pursuit ended in san leandro. >> you're the benedict drive exit. the driver died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. the suspect vehicle while him pursue. >> crash. and at that point, there was a high risk could stop as well as the standoff for approximately 30 minutes. >> with the combined efforts of all allied agencies. it was determined that the suspect had to come to his own injuries. i saw on the news earlier. >> that 5.80, was shut down. and i said, that's crazy. that's a major freeway shut down for hours. then i came

home to see police tape around her neighborhood and found out that it was related to what happened here. tim park says he chose to live here in pleasanton because it's a safe community. he never expected anything like this. >> he says he's not sure who the suspect or the victim. it's i don't know who lived there. >> maybe i saw them, but i don't know if i know who nt is or not, it just a disturbed guy. didn't know how to control his emotions. i guess it's only thing goes through my mind. >> pleasanton police is handling the murder investigation right now. they say there is no threat to the public live in pleasanton amanda hari kron. 4 news. >> i've been told too old. whether young or old i've always been known. i've always know what indoors i know in our north star, the very idea of america as they were all

>> think there are 2 tests for the president won the delivery test. you know what he stutter. he's been battling that, you know, since he was a child, would he actually deliver? what does that remarks look like? and then is the future focused or is he just laying out a litany of accomplishments to try to do a sales job? i think he did a pretty good job of being future-focused. we are in a contentious period. he has to both lay out a laundry list. but at the same time do that in the delivery. that you know, is low energy or anything like that. he has to like really move forward. and he came into the room gangbusters ready to do that. he and his team have to be happy with what they accomplish tonight. this was >> a moment in time where joe biden could love with a performance where he the part that people say that he is which is to will and that didn't happen as someone been involved with politics for decades. i from the day when we can get president who could actually give a speech. and quite honestly, the last 2 of

>> the owner of a popular east bay bagel shop says her business is was targeted by anti semitic graffiti. the words israel baby killer were found spray painted on the sidewalk outside of boychuk bagels in berkeley forest and thor talked with the shop's owner tonight joins us now from the newsroom with more. dan? yeah. can the jewish owner of probably the most popular bagel shop in the bay area says? >> this is the first time she and her staff have dealt with this kind of vandalism and she believes it might be connected to the company taking no stance over the israel-hamas war. >> the sidewalk usually filled with a line of customers waiting for a popular boy. chick bagel was vandalized this week with this graffiti boy, 6 owner emily winston says it's an attack against her jewish-owned business. it's pretty pretty upsetting. >> to get that is my first time getting such a thing winston says the graffiti popped up in 2 spots outside of her college avenue shop wednesday afternoon. >> she later, but paint remover to scrub it out. i'm

anotr term. >> they breed is currently facing 3 challengers in the upcoming election. a former san francisco mayor and supervisor mark farrell, a current city supervisor off it and philanthropist daniel lurie, all 3 spoke with kron 4 today giving their reaction to the mayor's state of the city address. some fresno bello joins us live in studio with their remarks. noel. >> ken and vicki mayor breed was optimistic about recent moves made by her office and by voters to improve quality of life in san francisco. but these 3 candidates looking to take her spot come november. we're not buying that optimism. all 3, essentially saying the mayor spent her time painting a pretty picture of the city. but these changes are coming too little too late. mark farrell saying people across san francisco felt better off when he left office in 2018 and he sees the voters supporting propositions e and f as a sign they want something different. >> tuesday's election was continue sign of momentum here in the city of san francisco

of common sense and a return to basics. it started a few years ago with a recall district attorney and brooke jenkins taking office is doing an amazing job and continue with the school board recall. and now on tuesday's election, the electorate has changed. they want. leadership inside of city hall. they want someone to come in and turn our city back around. >> farrell mentioned as fpd having lost 25% of its officers, which is something current supervisor ahsha stuff it mentioned as well. he also said while the city might be on a rebound, he felt breed speech today missed the mark. >> so the glaring miss for me was there wasn't a conversation about how we're going to make san francisco more livable and affordable for all san francisco families. it wasn't a conversation about working families. frontline workers and how they're struggling in. the mayor mentioned teachers,

nurses, firefighters, but she didn't say there's thousands of vacancies within those department. >> the final candidate, philanthropist daniel lurie says he didn't hear any new ideas or approaches today from the mayor. mayor laurie is the only person running from outside what he calls a failed system. and while the mayor may be tired of the negativity towards the city, laurie says he's tired too. >> i'm tired of the excuses and the finger pointing instead of accountable leadership and getting meaningful results. this is not a crisis of resources with a 14.6 billion dollar budget. this is a crisis of leadership. we all know this and and so i am incredibly optimistic. the best days of our city are ahead of us. but it's going to require leadership from outside of that building. >> overall, the 3 candidates agree change is beginning, but none were buying. what breed was necessarily selling today.

can vicki noelle, thank you. water officials in sonoma county say more than 270,000 gallons of wastewater spilled into the russian river last week. they say the spill came from the county's sanitation treatment plant. officials say the recent storm might have been the cause. myron mental specialists say there was no impact to wildlife. speaking of rain, let's check in with kron four's. lawrence karnow aren't boy. yeah. we've got a nice break from the stormy weather today. but we're not done with the rain just yet this season. we've got couple of storms are kind sitting out there. the pacific now developing. but >> we'll enjoy this brief break while we've got it right now. think so far. so good. clear out there. getting a little chilly in spots, but yet no rain around the bay area tonight. nice and dry. nice look toward the golden gate bridge out there for this evening as well. doppler radar showing things quieting down not only here but around much of the state did have some flood warnings up in southern california early on this evening. those of since expires. that rain kind of winding down there as well. but bay area looking good. we're starting to see a little bit of a northerly component

and uses it to steal taxpayer funds, personal and that rhodes trust trust in the government. >> alameda county district attorney pamela price today announcing a plea agreement between prosecutors and former fremont city manager mark to dodge the former city manager pleaded guilty to fraud charges for misusing his city issued credit card for personal expenses. was fired in 2021. it's now set to serve 3 months behind bars and paid the city more than $300,000. republican lawmakers are now demanding governor gavin newsom provide more information about an exemption in the state's new $20 minimum wage law. now this comes amid a report suggesting that newsom included a carve out to benefit one of his donors who happens to own too. doesn't panera bread locations. in a statement from newsom's office, though his staff wrote in part the story is absurd. our legal team has reviewed and it appears panera is not exempt from the law. still,

>> tonight in san jose junior sharks coach is being sued for assault. the lawsuit claims that the coach would room his players before taking advantage of them as kron four's terisa saw co tells us a lawsuit is also bringing to light a troubling series of allegations against the management of the san jose junior sharks. >> absolutely tragic situation. you know, young boy being taken advantage of by coach. >> mark bacevich is an attorney representing the family and child at the center of a civil lawsuit against this man. kevin whitmer and the san jose sharks when there was a coach for the junior

sharks, youth hockey organization last november, santa clara prosecutors charged with murder with 30 felony counts of abuse and 20 counts of possession of child. >> there was a another parent that raises concerns about how he was using his position as coach to really, you know, control the athletes in an unhealthy way. boss covid says on multiple occasions, parents reached out to complain to the sharks organization. >> about observing whitmer demonstrating disturbing behavior with young players. >> so there were a lot of red flags, some of which were raised to the organizations. some of them were kind of the open that you should expect that organization would have to tack that if it were properly supervise and its coaches athletes. also boss covid says that the suit alleges the organization failed to follow. >> national youth guidelines alone with minors in the

there. lost a wheel right after takeoff. the wheel crashed into an employee parking lot below damaging at least one vehicle. this recent incident adds to a growing list of issues at boeing, crawford's grant lodes joins us now live in the studio with a recap of some of those incidents grant. they're adding up. vicki and ken federal authorities are investigating several recent issues with boeing planes ranging from >> the loose tire to a door flying off during a flight to a plane engine catching fire mid-flight. take a look. engine on a united flight caught fire right after takeoff. this is from houston monday night. the man took the video says it sounded like a bomb going off and that the plane took a nosedive right after it happened. the crew was able to make an emergency landing. nobody was hurt last month. federal investigators say the rudder controls on another united flight that they fail during a landing in new jersey. the pilots there

say the rider pedals which control the rotation of the plane got stuck as they roll down the runway. pilots said they had to use another steering mechanism and were able to safely land the plane. investigators say, although mechanics couldn't pinpoint the problem, the plane worked normally after they swapped out some of the runner control parts. a few weeks before that a delta flight last nose wheel while preparing for take off in atlanta. nobody was hurt there. that wasn't especially scary. but really terrifying. of course, that incident in early january when a door blew off an alaska airlines flight. way up in the air. a preliminary report found that 4 bolts should have been holding the door plug in place. but we're missing when the plane left boeing's factory, obviously, that is problematic. last week regulators gave boeing 50 days too provide a plan about how

they're going to address recent safety it's obviously concerning when you know, you have boats that are supposed to be on this door. plug in there for whatever reason, not as a quality control issue. all of these are very concerning. you don't want wheels falling off your certainly unnerving, knock on wood. >> fatality. we've gotten through it. k that's just by sheer luck. you can operate airline that way. and by sheer luck, there's video of today's wheel calling off their some guy who shoots planes, taking off and landing in and streams it on youtube and has a bunch of followers need just happen to be video taping this today and posted in obviously it helps tell the story of what exactly went on. initially in the car picked they didn't even know anything in happened. they lost anything so count it. all right. thank you am. there are 4 zone

forecast as we get a live look at. sfo. don't see any wheels on the ground there. that's ok, how's the weather looking? just keep my feet on the ground for now. thank you very much. we've got some nice weather coming our way should get out there and enjoy it. >> it's going to change again as we get the weekend and early next week. but why the tenant n y think we've got a dose of spring-like weather coming our way. maybe some 70's and 80's. yeah. that be something out there. now we've got clear skies, nice clear skies around the bay area today overnight tonight, going to stay clear. going to be chilly in spots. some of the valleys dipping down to the 30's and then we're going to see sunny skies tomorrow. going to be a beautiful friday outside. but a chance of showers returns on saturday, mainly north of the golden gate bridge and that a better chance for everybody to see a few more showers late in the day on saturday. highs today, aras running just a little bit below the average for this time of year, but still very comfortable. i think by tomorrow afternoon, maybe a little bit above the average as we'll see those temperatures warming up nicely

under sunny skies. it is currently 45 and cool in half moon bay. 47, it's number 46 right now an app and 49 degrees in concord. you can see the storm clouds still moving through southern california. couple leftover snow flurries in the southern sierra nevada as well. but things clearing out now as high pressure really settling in. but it's only going to be a quick hitter just here for the day tomorrow. and then after that kind of scoots out of town and we've got that next front off the coastline start to move. in fact, you see right here as we head through the day, tomorrow gets a little bit closer. it leaves a lot of sunshine for us. there you go on saturday. kind of limits on shore, falling apart. then behind that, a stronger system starts to move in as we head in towards sunday. that will bring with it. more showers around the bay area. more snow in the high country and a little bit stronger storm system moving in late snow monday night into sunday. that can things a little bit wet. but after that high pressure really strength is i think by the afternoon, on a thursday or so, we could be talking about some 70's in the bay area. some 30's and 40's for overnight lows tonight. tomorrow. yeah, we're

now as the ceo of music for minors, a nonprofit in the bay area. she's trying to change the lives of students through music. i felt a lot of people need to know about this under her leadership. the program has expanded and is now in schools across the peninsula, spanning from south san francisco to san jose growing from 7,000 kids. a 26,000 students and 13 school districts with the majority of their work focused on underrepresented communities. >> knew that to have a greater impact we needed to do kind of district-wide because it's really important to us that all kids have the opportunity. so we do core music, education elementary. we focus on elementary because that's where the biggest void programs or money as well. then use as a great example of seeing this program in motion is at jason dahl elementary school in san jose where for now the program is fully subsidized. >> and has been going on for the past 3 years. >> what do you think about
