stolen right in front of her and she was leaving for work on friday. kron four's amanda hari talk with this woman and she joins us in studio now with more. amanda. >> the woman is grateful she's okay but disappointed about what happened. she says it took over when police about 3 hours to get to the parking lot. and by then she ready once the police department to file a report. >> the city of oakland county like literally there was nothing to protect me or my current lit a scary moment for taylor bagby. is she left work friday night. bagby is a nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit at kaiser oakland. she parts of the garage near broadway and macarthur freeway. >> because of safety issues in the area, she usually starts for 2021. chevrolet camaro from afar so she can quickly get in and leave, but it wouldn't start when she could finally see your car. she was shocked or there's a security guard behind my car. and there's a guy in my car and there's glass all on the

ground. >> and so i realize that he was still in my car, inside the car. he's like this little laptop and he starts it. and i kind of like step in front the car. but it starts or evidence or move out the way he just drives au through the gate. she says the security guard called for backup, but it took them too long to get there. >> when they called police, they told them to expect a long wait to marry. like we've got 187 calls. it's a friday in oakland like that. that would be the last thing we come and check up why she found out from the guard that someone broke window hours before coming back to steal the car. but she wasn't notified. this just seems to be a reoccurring move because the guys that it was a 6 car that they've taken since he's worked there at the parking garage. and you have been there for that law bagby says she used to go down to her car. her lunch break, but a few months ago, kaiser center memo to their staff urging them not to leave during their shifts because of safety concerns. she says she hopes both the city and kaiser will do more to protect p%oplecwho

work at and utilize the hospital. at the end the day, we just want to feel safe lake being able to go to work into leaving, go home. just seems like that's not happening. and it's sad because it's not only us who work there, but these are. >> patients who are coming in. these are family members who could receiving the worst possible news. and i live in. they can be done safely going to the hospital or safely go home. >> opd says this is still an active investigation. bagby says she's trying to look on the bright side. she was unharmed and she can always get a new car live in studio. amanda hari kron, 4 news thank you for that report. also in oakland, a group working to recall mayor sheng thao holding a town hall meeting today. >> community members began collecting signatures for the recall petition last month. they said they are fed up with crime and a lack of a permanent police chief in the city. >> question is what she to try to make things better what has

she she's not done the first thing she does is the going to >> well, mayor thao has told kron 4 in the past that the recall campign is being put together by her political opponents who previously ran against terror. the recall group says they've collected more than 123,000 signatures. 73,500 need to be verified to hold and election. a fairfield school resource officer has been arrested after being accused of sending inappropriate text messages to 2 teenage girls. fairfield police officer james lewis was working at rodriguez high school when he's accused of sending messages to 2 students, parents of those girls leading a learned the department about the messages. lewis was later booked into solano county jail. he's facing serious charges, including contacting a minor with intent to commit a crime and child possession in response to the ongoing

investigation. the department posted on social media, quote, we are simultaneously disappointed, infuriated and saddened by this information. acts like these violate that trust their holy inexcusable. and they failed to exemplify what the fairfield police department stands for. in san francisco. a person is recovering tonight after being shot during a home invasion in the outer richmond or excuse me, outer mission district. this happened around 4 o'clock friday morning at a home on elevating boulevard. police say they found the victim with a gunshot wound. that person was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. no arrests have been made anyone with any information is being asked to call sfpd. police in antioch are asking for your help in identifying this man right here. they say this person was caught on camera, stealing a car and then dumping it near east 6th street. anyone with any information about who this person is. he's being asked to call any on police. in the

south bay. firefighters responding to a house fire earlier today. this is near the westfield valley the video here showing flames coming out of the home there on daniel way. several officials say that various propane tanks involved pg. e crews reported this scene there help out the fire was eventually knocked down. no injuries were reported. petaluma police make an arrest for a man leaking sewage out of an rv into a public area. police say this happened on friday morning. they found a man leaking sewage into a storm drain on toledo street when officers tried to talk with this man, they say he refused to get out of his rv. after an hour, the man complied and he was arrested for dumping waste in a public area. let's get you a check. your 4 zone forecast right now. of course, a lot of people worried about the weather. this is a highway. 92 the san mateo bridge, gayle ong. joining us with a look at the forecast to go. >> hello, good evening. well, we have some unsettled weather. we'll be dealing with

over the next few days, but it wilt be quick and we're expecting some light rain starting tomorrow night. so you still have some stuff to do during your sunday during the daytime. so here's a live look at san francisco. we have some clouds rolling in here and you can see it on our stormtracker. we have pretty much quiet now. we did see some rain earlier today in the north bay. and as you can see, now. we have some systems heading our way and that will be coming tomorrow night. so we have some comfortable daytime temperatures but still got to deal with some showers. we're still at the tail end of winter temperatures out the door. it is chilly, though. so we're in the 40's in santa rosa and nevado. 52 degrees in downtown san francisco. everywhere else looks like you guys are all in the 50's 56 degrees in san jose. one of the warmest spots and we cooling down just a tad bit. but i don't see any frost or freeze warnings. we are calm right now, but it will be breezy tomorrow. so that will be changing. so let's talk about that rain. we just have those clouds tonightanthen that rain. as i mentioned, we

can expect widespread showers starting tomorrow night. and then another dose monday night into tuesday bay area wide. so here is a look at the rest of your weekend and the start of your week. we're in 50's and then we're going to gradually warm up. see the seven-day because we have some 70's in the forecast. back to you, dan. >> all right, gail, thanks a lot. the u.s. coast guard is investigating in oil spill off the coast of huntington beach responding to an alert of an unknown substance about a mile and a half up the coast on thursday night, officials discovered 126,000 gallon oil >> it's about to. >> miles in length. and it's a 2 to 3 miles off the coast here. we do have our harbor patrol patrolling at dana point harbor, newport beach harbor and huntington beach just to make sure that mariners don't go out and get into the impacted area. but they are still investigating the source. >> crews got to work cleaning up that coast guard says

weekend. the oakland police department is going to have additional units looking for sideshow activity. >> and reckless driving. police say they're going to be handing out citations. we're going to be arresting people in telling vehicles. this is video from oakland the cars that they've seized in previous sideshows. now to some developing news tonight, dashcam and bodycam video was just released to the l a p d showing how 2 officers rescued 2 teenage victims from a burning car but also claimed the life a 16 year-old girl police backed off in their pursuit of the car driven by a 14 year-old in a rainy night on february. 20th after a didn't have it, let its lights on the car later crashed into a light pole and caught on fire. officers broke the windows trying to extinguish the flames, then pulled the 14 year-old and a 16 year-old girl with minor injuries out of the front safety. a 16 year-old girl in the backseat, became lodged under the

driver's seat and police say they didn't know she was there. police say their investigations will ongoing. now to the middle east where u.s. military is rushing to build a temporary port along gaza's coast to get more aid the white house is calling it an emergency military mission. the u.s. and the royal jordanian air force air dropped more than a more humanitarian aid on friday, though, many in the region are still struggling and this is all happening as the u.s. navy intercepted another round of houthi based attacks in the red sea. robert sherman has the latest. u.s. officials are hoping that appear will be up and running off of gaza's coast in the next couple of weeks. >> as mediating parties remain optimistic that a cease-fire and hostage release deal. we'll still come together. >> in tel aviv, israeli's rallying, demanding the release of hostages. we can get to that tonight because we want people talking about a

stand. the war in gaza is set to continue. as hamas says they have no interest in agreeing to a deal. >> that does not lead to the ending of the war with the withdrawal of troops from gaza. >> this is a pro-palestine protest or destroying a painting of arthur james balfour. you can see the red spray paint. they're also scratched up. this is at the university of cambridge, the activist group says the pain symbolizes the bloodshed of the palestinian people since the balfour declaration in 1917, the declaration was the first time the british government supported the establishment of a national home for the jewish people. hundreds of neglected animals had to be rescued from a home in hollister. investigators say on thursday they saved more than a dozen dogs and 200 cats living without food or water and surrounded by feces.

2 people are now facing animal cruelty charges. the animals were several rescue organizations throughout monterey and san benito counties. san francisco, animal care and control is once again reporting that their shelter is at full capacity in a post on social media. they've been asking people to delay surrounding their dog until monday. they say most of the dogs in their care are there because of legal matters and they can adopt them out. he had that overcrowding is a national problem and not just something being experienced here in the bay area. more students transfer the university of california. the uc system says applications from first year, students essentially stayed flat but applications from transfer students were up by more than 10%. most of those transfer applicants for california community state college students. you see all so tattered increases in the number of black latino and native american students who applied the uc president says the school is expected to see applicants from, quote, a wide

range of backgrounds and life experiences. all right. let's get your check your 4 zone forecast tonight. taking a live look at san francisco from sutro tower. not a bad looking view out there. but we know there's been some clouds moving in just a little bit gallons. get a look at what we can expect a go. >> hello. we have some clouds out there. it's also pretty chilly out there tonight. but we have been warming up to some nice daytime highs. you know, we saw some rain in the north bay, but we have rain heading our way this radar tomorrow. this time will look a little different. well, we're expecting some widespread rain across the bay area. so let's time that out for you. you just see the clouds roll in overnight. this is sunday morning. 06:00am cloudy skies but dry. so you'll be able to go for a run. walk the dog, do outdoor activities. this is lunchtime. similar situation. you see a little bit clearing as you make your way inland, like fremont livermore, concord and san jose. and then by dinner time, that's when you'll notice this band of rain. we'll be starting in the north bay first and then towards the

evening, like 08:00pm to 10:00pm. so in 24 hours, this is what the radar looks like. so we could see widespread rain is going to come by really fast. we're expecting a buick a 10 to at least half an inch of rain. so we'll see how that goes. and here's the projected rain totals from now because we have not only system tomorrow we have another system that is expected to drop monday night into tuesday. so from now, until then, we're expecting more than half an inch in santa rosa about a quarter of an inch and then down in the south bay livermore, just a 10th of an inch. so maybe just some rain drops out there. it will be breezy, though, as that cold front moves through. so we'll start with relatively calm wind speeds. and then as we get to tomorrow afternoon, you'll notice the pop here from the teens and then it's going to be 20 miles an hour. different places here. so just keep that in mind as head out the door and we'll be waking up to the upper 30's santa rosa's flirting with the upper 30's, the low 40's. but lot of 40's on the map. fremont looks like is expected to be one of

the warmest spots starting tomorrow and will be warming up to the 50's and low 60's. so we're on the cooler side right now. we are still in winter. but take a look at the 7 day forecast and don't forget to set your clock one hour ahead. but yeah, thursday friday and next weekend it looks, sunny. seeing 70 you know, we might even hit 80 goodness. wow. okay. all right. that that's a good bringing were coming. yeah. all right. and then the later in the later sunsets also sure lea stay tuned. we have a graphic for that. >> all right. thank >> okay. we'll sugar bowls. it's standing its key season. they resort snowpack currently 15 feet deep. they expect the snow is going to last well into spring. so the resort is extending its ski season through april. the 28th celebrating this year's phenomenal snow conditions. the resort is offering discounted lift access. ski instructors are encouraging new skiers and snowboarders. take advantage of the opportunity saying spring is the perfect time for a lesson.

well, those late winter storms across the state are expected to lead to a milder than normal wildfire season, which is good news. scientists things could change by july, but for now, the national intra agency fire center predicts below normal fire activity from may through june. researchers say that education that would normally burned and dry conditions at lowrr elevations is still green and it's buried in snow at higher elevations. statewide are snow packed recently measured 104% of normal for march. take a look at this. a mountain lion spotted wandering the street of oceanside its community in southern california this past week. you can see it going past a movie theater hanging out of parking and parking garage along highway. 76 there that went over to coast highway. had quite a tor lot of camera angles of this mountain lion officials remind everyone if you do see a mountain lion do not approach them or disturb them. well,

to kron. 4 news at 10. it's been a rough week for united airlines with multiple close calls. >> at several airports across the country from fires and skids to faulty tires. may be the scariest flight problem for the airline. you may have seen this video of the flames that are bursting out of an engine outside the window. this was on a flight from monday from houston, a fort myers, florida. it also had to make an emergency landing and it did so safely investigation determined that bubble wrap got into the engine. and then on thursday, this united flight departing from sfo lost one of the jets, 6 wheels as

it was taking off in route to japan. the tire crashing through a fence and crushing several parked cars. as you can see there. and on friday, a flight from san francisco to mexico city was diverted to la after an issue with the plane's hydraulic system. this flight, this diverted flight marks united's 4th issue in a week. and also yesterday, a flight from memphis landing at houston's airport rolled off the runway into the grass as it exited the runway for the gate. passengers had to be taken off of the plane onto the tarmac and bust to the terminal. not a good week for united. well, turning at the border. turning to tragedy at the border and 2 national guard soldiers and border patrol agent have died after a military helicopter crashed while patrolling the u.s. mexico border. the helicopter was doing aerial monitoring and detection operations as a part of the american government's border security mission when it crashed yesterday. we also know that

of the 4 people on board the aircraft, 3 of them have died. 2 national guard soldiers in a border patrol agent with the 4th person, a soldier injured and in critical condition. the national guard says that their morning, these heartbreaking deaths and that all of the people represents southwest service in the best of america. 300 volunteers gather to pick up some trash today in san jose. the mayor matt mahan posting the video saying that they collected more than 10,000 pounds of trash along guadalupe river. the alameda and downtown. he says collective actions like this is what makes the city better each day. all right. let's talk about the weather as we take a live look at the bay bridge. this is the eastern span. there was some traffic. you can see slow going in both directions. things are nice and easy going to the toll plaza. but as you're heading into sam said, heading into oakland from san francisco. little backed up there. a pretty nice night out there. we the clouds moving in gayle

history month in kron four's introducing you to remarkable women of the bay area. and today we're sharing the story. a cancer survivor who is dedicating her life to helping kids in underserved communities. kron four's tiffany justice has the story. >> when i when i started with music for minors, i wonderful opportunity, wonderful organization. >> but the best kept secret for the past 14 years. sonja wall them youth has been bringing back the music. now as the ceo of music for minors, a nonprofit in the bay area. she's trying to change the lives of students through music. i felt a lot of people need to know about this under her leadership. the program has expanded and is now in schools across the peninsula, spanning from south san francisco to san jose growing from 7,000 kids. a 26,000 students and 13 school districts with the majority of their work focused on

underrepresented communities. >> knew that to have a greater impact we needed to do kind of district-wide because it's really important to us that all kids have the opportunity. so we do core music, education elementary move focus on elementary because that's where the biggest void programs or money as well. then use as a great example of seeing this program in motion is at jason dahl elementary school in san jose where for now the program is fully subsidized. >> and has been going on for the past 3 years. >> what do you think about doing good? i'm thinking about being a singer. >> and for 8 year-old alexander matute, hey, he says the classes are call me. >> when you said mad really just can't find anything to do. the rhythms of songs could help you out and stress and help you. let me leave all your stress show. >> you like music has a stress reliever for you.

>> phenomenon going back all the way to the 1940's. they say that they've reviewed nearly every incident. they've are a few programs that have been classified dealing with peas their findings. the big takeaway is they say that they have no concrete evidence that the government has ever had in its possession aircraft have come from extraterrestrials. they also say they don't have any programs. the government was running to try and reverse engineer extraterrestrial kraft. now, they've also made clear in the report themselves. they don't think that people who've come forward with those claims, people with very high level some air force intelligence officers, other military officers. they say they don't think those people were necessarily lying, but that the information they had may have taken out of context. they may have been misinformed or facts that have been misconstrued been given to that. there's certainly a lot of pushback to the findings in
