and the sfmta getting ready to discuss locations for 33 speed cameras that they plan to install in the city. >> from the area's local news station. you're watching the kron. 4 morning far. >> all right. well, good monday morning. and the people waking up with us bright and early for the kron. 4 morning news. today's march 18th. i'm reyna harvey. all right. well, we're gonna start this morning check the weather with john. i mean, the weekend was so nice. got a chance to get out. but john now taking my allergy medicines not sneezing all over the place. good morning. know things bloom in that few days of sunshine will do it and looking outside it almost looks like whatever is blooming, but just lit up in a little bit of green after saint patrick's day yesterday. >> probably got out there. did a little bit of festivities under the sunshine that we had plenty of over the weekend and we were happy to see it. now this morning, we're switching that up just a little bit. we do have the return of fog, a westerly wind on into the city

is allowing some of that fog bank to roll in santa rosa nevado livermore mountain view among spots with some fog having so. do watch for that this morning. it's going out with this for several hours before we clear out really nicely into the afternoon today. otherwise skies are dry and clear. we will clear out nicely towards the latter half of the day and temperatures will rise into the 70's later on today as well. right now it's 40's to 50's. definitely cool. so get those jackets ready to go. 40's up in the north bay as well as for the inland east bay this morning later on today. as i promised yet, we've got the 70's on the way with sunny and warm conditions. as for your roads, things out there on this monday morning commute are not so bad at all. we are looking at an easy drive across the bay bridge. 8 minutes to get you across so far and nothing holding you up just yet. as for the san mateo bridge are typical 12 minutes to make your crossing. that's about the limit right there. the richmond center fell at 7 minutes while the golden gate is still nice and empty for

you to make your crossing. all right, john, thank you for that. starting out our top story, 5 crews put out a fire started inside of a gym and ahmed or valley high school. >> in pleasanton last night. so you can see the video, large plume of smoke rising from the rafters, an official with the pleasanton unified school district says they have not been able to survey the damage just yet. wildfires still not sure what caused the fire. school officials says the high school will hold classes today in spite of this. and we are following a deadly crash. this happened in san francisco's west portal neighborhood police confirm a 3rd person died from the crash since it happened on saturday. well, for saracens is spoke to people who came to visit a memorial set up right at the scene of the crash. >> in san francisco's west portal neighborhood, a community is reeling from a deadly crash that claimed the lives of 3 people. neighbors say a family of 4 was struck by a car at the bus. stop on

you, lois street saturday afternoon. tragically a father, mother and child died in the crash. a baby is still at the hospital in serious condition. the driver also got injured was a real shock this home for >> definitely hit close to home. alec and lena lee live in the neighborhood with their 2 kids. >> they got emotional while stopping by the growing memorial. it's really nice to see the outpouring of support from the community, but obviously a situation like this. >> there's really nothing that can help them to ever make up for lost another dad who lives in the area. ed martinez says. >> he was here right after the crash happened. he still in disbelief. >> it's really heartbreaking because, you know, i can just imagine the family was just enjoying a beautiful saturday then for this to happen and all their loved ones, just, you know, our heart goes out to martinez says he walks by this bus, stop with the sunset daily. i know coaches that i've realized my so for child that he says this intersection

has always worried him. but now he's extra concerned something that my wife and i we talk about a lot is we don't like them crossing this intersection at all because it's too dangerous as the community grapples with the devastating loss, police continue to investigate the cause of the crash. police say they do not believe traffic engineering was a factor. this crash is now sparked debate on what steps can be taken. >> to prevent similar tragedies in the future. is real tragedy. look heimer believes the intersection of you, lois street and west portal avenue should be closed to cars and he's created a petition online to advocate for that. within one block of here, there's a library. >> there's multiple schools as a park in a you know, there's a church, there's doctors offices. there's merchant corridor. this is not the place they should have covered. car traffic going through and some people want to see it safe. but so far the petition has more than 1000 signatures. >> neighbors here tell me they're more focused on grieving. there's a vigil set for monday night at 5. i'm

sara stinson reporting back to you. >> on the north bay, a man is recovering from major injuries after a drunk driver hit the man's car. bonaparte police shared the picture of the aftermath. happened just after 2.30, yesterday morning right at the intersection of rohnert park expressway and commerce boulevard. police say a woman driving a red toyota pickup truck had 2 men riding with her when she crashed into the grace eye on. they say the driver failed a sobriety test but she and her 2 passengers are going to be ok, however, the man driving the grace on had to be extracted from the car and taken to a hospital for surgery. no word on his condition at this time. had a little police say 2 drunk drivers crashed into a motorcycle and a cul-de-sac in separate accidents. police say the first crash happened at 10 for 54 saturday night when a man rear ended a motorcycle driving on petaluma boulevard north. they say he admitted to getting behind the wheel while under the influence

motorcyclist was taken to a hospital with a broken leg. few hours later, officers say a man crashes car into a roundabout and ran away from the area 7 shortly after midnight sunday on south of the dow boulevard and they would drive. they say they found him hiding between houses a few blocks away. well, drivers were booked into the county jail. well, happening today, court proceedings for a fatal 2018 autopilot. tesla crash will start today back in march of 2018. walter, hong was traveling south on 101. well, this tesla model x with autopilot engaged as a tesla approached a paved area, dividing the travel lanes of the highway from an exit ramp on a pilot turned the car. a sharp left right into the concrete median hall was critically hurt and died later at the hospital. and ntsb investigation determined that the crash was caused in part by the tesla autopilot system not properly operating holmes

family is suing tesla. court proceedings started 08:45am. happening tomorrow. the sfmta they're expected to talk about the locations. 33 speed cameras. they plan to install in san francisco around this time next year. transit officials are now looking to install 33 spots including school zones and areas that have seen sideshows officials say warning notices are to be sent to those speeding in the first 2 months of operation. then after that fines will be sent to those caught breaking the law. >> we would be very happy if this program earns no revenue. what we're trying to do is change behavior. well, the locations for the cameras >> are going to be talked about at the sfmta meeting tomorrow afternoon. friday, a possible road rage incident led to a stabbing in sunnyvale, according to police officers arrived around 03:00pm right in the area of lawrence expressway. and our

quest avenue after getting a report of and fighting right in the street. well, police found 2 men suffering from stab wounds. they were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive. there are 2 suspects in the case. one was arrested at the scene and another are allegedly fled the scene but was taken into custody in redwood city later on that day, both were booked into jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon along with other allegations. will the petaluma police department says more than 30 vehicles were targeted. what appears to be a car break-in spree that's happened all over the city saturday night. officials say they happened at the pella village premium outlets. saint vincent high school capri creek apartments. and just to name a few places. the police department asking anybody who lives near those areas. check your home surveillance footage might have captured these incidents. more trouble for united airlines on a flight leaving

sfo this time. the problem wasn't discovered until the plane landed in oregon powers. dan thorn has that story. >> another issue for united airlines flight leaving sfo after landing at rogue valley international medford airport friday afternoon. united aircraft was found without an external panel. medford airport spokesperson says they this specific boeing 7.37. is a 25 year-old aircraft. and rice says at that age metal fatigue can set these significant amount of maintenance they should be

catching these things. what we're learning now is >> that we have to be more aware of these things as they go through maintenance and double checking and triple checking the this latest issue for united is making some passengers feel uneasy. >> on thursday, a flight approaching sfl had a hydraulic leak with some smoke seen by the landing gear last week. a japan-bound plane lost a wheel during takeoff and had to make an emergency landing in los angeles. and on monday, a united flight bound for sfo from australia was forced to turn around because of a maintenance issue. >> think it's a little scary. the fact that this keeps coming up all the sudden and i i don't know if it's because we haven't been aware and now we are. always said, and it's it's an immediate issue that we're dealing with. >> it's scary for people. united spokesperson says there wasn't an emergency landing in oregon because there was no indication of damage during the flight. they're now going

vendors showcase their handmade goods and traditional iras foods. all right. well, in the spirit of saint patrick's day, john and i got our green on today. it was a really nice weekend. but for all of our monday goers, how's the weather today at the grekn and blue ray and i felt it too, was like okay. >> one agreed. and then we'll get back to the norm. but hey, we're looking at conditions out there today that are going to feel pretty similar to where we were over the weekend. temperatures are going to gradually calm down as we work our way through the rest of this forecast. but today we still got some 70's, your view outside from the east bay hills. we do have some fog formation going on out there. do watch for some foggy patches up in the north bay inland east bay. i long to bayshore to. so just take it a little slower. if you do encounter those areas, otherwise conditions are nice and dry and will stay that way over the next several days. but not the entirety of the forecast. the very end of the week towards friday. we'll start to see showers drifting back overhead and rainfall

moves its way into the bay area come friday night into saturday. likely a little bit of a dry out into sunday and monday before another system moves in after that. so we definitely got active forecast ahead of us towards the tail end of this forecast. but not before several dry days. as you can see as we work our way through today into the middle and the end of the week, we're still dry. but after that, rainfall begins to increase across the entirety of the state, we will be looking at wet conditions by the weekend. in the meantime, today is the warmest day of your forecast with daytime highs back in the 60's at the coast and a lot of us further inland rising into the 70's. that includes some of us along the bay shore from san mateo through mountain view, south bay temperatures, some of our warmest campbell, santa clara and san jose, each at 76 today, while the east bay also getting right back up into those mid 70's in many cases, castro valley at 73 walnut creek and concord. at 75 while billy help but be sure fairfield and vacaville

each at 77 degrees are very warmest spots today. getting close to 80. but this doesn't last for long temperatures do slide downward after this. tomorrow is your first day of spring. kind of starts off. feeling like winter again, because we're actually going down into the new season by friday and saturday. showers have made their return. as for your roads right dry out there. the biggest thing you've got to worry about is some patches of fog, especially further inland and in the north bay, you're not seeing much of that honor bridges crossing the bay. but the good news if you are heading into the city or on to the peninsula, little bit of fog up towards the richmond area to watch out for the golden gate bridge. not seeing too many visibility issues just yet, right? all right, john, thank you for that. police are investigating the city's first homicide of the year. >> police say a person was stabbed to death on university avenue yesterday afternoon, right between some possible avenue in sacramento street police arrested one person% believed to be involved. well, happening today, alameda county district attorney pamela price and her

trail during a rally this weekend. he warned of a bloodbath if he loses the election and called immigrants, quote, animals. washington correspondent hannah brandt joins us live at the very latest on that. good morning, anna. rana, good morning. >> trump's remarks are drawing some sharp blow back from many democrats and some republicans as well. but there are also those who are defending him. >> at a rally in ohio, former president donald trump was talking about his plan to tax foreign made cars when he made a dark production. we're going to put 100% tariff on every single car. >> that comes across the line and you're not going to be able to sell those guys. if i get elected. now, if i do get elected, it's going to be a bloodbath for the home. that's going to be the least of it. it's going to be a bloodbath for the country. and in his speech, he also attacked undocumented immigrants. i don't know if you call up people in some cases, they're not people in my opinion. these are animals. okay. >> and we have to stop it.

critics slammed the remarks. what does that mean? he's going to exact a bloodbath. there's something wrong here. congresswoman nancy pelosi told cnn trump's comments underscore how important it is for democrats to reelect president biden. we just have to win this election on nbc's meet the press, republican senator bill cassidy also criticized the comments. clearly the president's rhetoric is reflected poorly. many americans continue to wonder should president trump be president? but on cbs, trump's former vice president mike pence defended the bloodbath comments. president was clearly talking about the impact of of imports devastating the american automotive industry. what congressman mike turner told abc while he disagrees with the wording, he's more focused on trump's border policies. donald trump is the only candidate in this race. it's going to be able to have to fix this crisis. >> in a statement the trump campaign said the former president was clearly talking about the economic consequences of another biden term, accusing critics of taking his words out of context right back to you. all

right, hannah, thank you for breaking that down for us. >> well, in the north, a deputies in sonoma county airlifted a camper who experienced a medical emergency at lake sonoma this weekend. sonoma county sheriff's office sharing this video. so when deputies using a helicopter to rescue the camper from the campground, first responders for the patient to an awaiting ambulance in the air, which transfer them to a local hospital. no word on the patient's condition. well, emergency crews responded to a crash in san francisco's pacific heights neighborhood. citizen app video shows the car flipped over on its side. this is on jackson street right near house of prime rib san francisco. fire crews say the driver of the car also crashed into parked cars. say the driver was taken to the hospital for treatment. no word yet on what caused the crash to happen. and in the east bay, alameda county getting 30 million dollars for

>> well, in the east bay, a car slammed into a city national bank in downtown oakland during an attempted burglary. this happened on broadway in 12. police say 4, 5 people were in the car when it drove into the bank just before 6 friday morning. once inside, police say the would-be burglars, they were not able to gain access to anything of value. so they ran away. no injuries were reported. but police are still looking for the suspects. in the south bay, a man is recovering from injuries after being hit by a drunk driver on to 80. this is the scene on 2.80 north of i street around 11 friday, midnight. chp says they are not sure why the man was walking on the interstate. they say a white bmw hit the victim head-on. police arrive. the victim was unresponsive and had to be taken to the hospital. driver was arrested. no word yet on how the victim is doing. and happening today,

>> tragic and heartbreaking story to say the least according to officials, they say that 3 people out of that for passed away over the weekend and that 4th is actually a baby that still in critical condition this morning. the scene is right behind me. it's hard to see because it's so dark, but lots francisco's west portal neighborhood on lois street. officials say that the driver of an suv slammed into a muni bus shelter while driving eastbound lowell street that 2 people did die at the scene while a 3rd died in the hospital on sunday. neighbors tell us it was a family of 4 that here at that scene that passed away. both the mother and father and child were killed while the infant remains in critical condition this morning at the hospital. police say the driver of that suv was also injured and that the accident is still under investigation, adding that they do not believe traffic engineering with a factor. we

>> happening today, court proceedings are set to start this morning and the case of the 2018 fatal crash involving a tesla. law also filed against tesla alleges companies auto pilot system caused that crash covers will tran is live in san jose with the details on that. good morning. well, >> good morning. reyna tesla is on trial and it will begin at 8.45. this morning in the building right behind me. let me show you the video. it was almost exactly 6 years ago when walter was driving on one through mountain view, he did not have his hands on the wheel. according to tesla, it was shown that his auto pilot was engaged when all of a sudden the car crashes head-on into a safety barrier. tesla says its autopilot system does not prevent accidents. 100%. it just makes it less likely to occur. wong's family is suing tesla saying that the

auto pilot system did not work properly and they point to an ntsb investigation that actually wrapped up 18 months after his fatal collision. that said according to the ntsb, but the auto pilot system did not properly see the lane markings before the fatal crash. we will be here once opening proceedings began. but of course, this affects millions of people because tesla is extremely popular. so it boils down to what do you believe in tesla saying he should have listened to the warnings and tesla claims that one repeat really ignore the warnings to retake control of his car before the accident. or if you believe in the driver who believes in the auto pilot system. >> all right. well, thank you for that breakdown. there. motorcyclist was killed in sunnyvale sunday morning. sunnyvale. police say at around 7 the motorcyclist was driving northbound on lawrence

expressway and was making a left turn on our quest when a driver headed southbound crashed into them. officials say the motorcyclist died at the scene and the driver of the car suffered minor injuries. the driver remained at the scene. no reports of drug or alcohol appear to be a factor of that crash. how in the east bay, antioch police are now looking for driver who hit a pedestrian and then just drove off. it happened after one, 30 am on saturday. officers say a kia sedan struck a man near wilbur avenues and drove away that man died at the scene. and the north bay. we have new details about a shooting that injured 4 sonoma county sheriff's deputies. officials releasing that 9-1-1, on ul body in the body camera footage as well. now to warn you, some of this might be disturbing to watch >> i we haven't got become for manartrading desk. you've like a ripe for funding. >> so authorities say jose luis cervantes showed up at a nightclub on stony point in

time. roads after being kicked out of the night before police say serve on disappeared at the business with a rifle and threatening to shoot deputies got there savant. israel that a gators say the man pulled into a parking lot on todd and standish roads and that is where the shooting started. investigators say after 5 several times around, he's got back in his car, drove back to the club before leading police on a chase that ended in a crash. so bond has died at the scene during that shootout for deputies were hurt. 3 out of the 4 injured are recovering at home before deputy suffered a head injury and is still in the hospital. little police are looking for a man wanted for slashing the teen and a basketball court. investigators say a man armed with a broken piece of glass attacked a 17 year-old friday afternoon. this happened at

the basketball court right near the sonoma-marin fairgrounds in petaluma teen told police the attack was unprovoked and he did not recognize the man. police arrested someone suspected of shooting a man in brentwood. the shooting happened around 8 saturday night or to drive right near mclaren park. officers say they found a man who'd been shot several times. witnesses in the area helped police identify a suspect and a person was arrested. don't have any other information at this time. san francisco, a new hub for career counseling. it's helping residents get set up with city jobs. mayor london breed says a room and city hall will serve as a hub where applicants can get resumes reviewed in practice interview skills. more information can be found at sf dot gov. jobs report last year from the san francisco civil grand jury found nearly 5,000 vacancies for city jobs. happening today, the city of
