yesterday before we gradually cool down into the rest of the week. right now, skies are pretty clear for the san francisco area, but we do have some fog further inland. taking a look at san jose in mountain view out to the tri valley and up into the north bay, some patches of dense fog this morning. so do watch for those. they'll hang out for several hours to once we reach the afternoon, though we are going to pappa tapping into a lot more sunshine and it is going to be a gorgeous afternoon to get back outside. still in the 40's to 50's right now. so definitely need those jackets as we're getting this monday morning started look at what we've got later on today, though. daytime highs will rise into the low to mid 70's. i'll be getting to our cooler and eventually rainier forecast. all still ahead right now. all right, john, thank you for that. let's get a look at your bridges this morning. meteor lights are on at the bay bridge, but no accidents there. >> 14 minute ride. mateo bridge just under 13, 80 to 101 year to center-field bridge about 7 and the golden gate bridge. 37 of that holds 20 minutes.

>> well, this morning, we continue to follow the deadly crash involving a family of 4 in san francisco's west portal neighborhood. police have confirmed a 3rd person has died from their injuries conference. michael thomas is live in san francisco with the senate story. good morning, michael. >> really a heartbreaking and just a tragic story to say the least. officials say it was a family of 4 neighbors. tell us 3 of those were actually 2 inches. they were killed here at the scene. another died at the hospital yesterday. that last one still in the hospital this morning was an infant. take a look. we've got daylight videos. you can see what the intersection actually looks like. now, according to officials, they say it happened saturday afternoon in san francisco's west portal neighborhood on a low, a street at the time. a driver of an suv slammed into a muni bus shelter while driving eastbound on alloa. according to officials, 2 people died at the scene. it said to be the father and one of the children. and then the mother later died in the hospital yesterday. neighbor tell us a family of 4 were at the scene

and that infant is still in the hospital this morning in critical condition. the driver of that suv was also injured at the accident fishel say it's still under investigation and they do not believe traffic engineering was a factor. we spoke to a sustainable transportation advocate. he started a petition to close off this intersection when it comes to cars all around. take a listen to what they had to say. >> within one block of here, there's a library. there's multiple schools as a park in a you know, there's a church, there's doctors offices. there's merchant corridor. >> this is not the place they should have covered. car traffic going through and some people want to see it now i'm back out here like it is a very busy intersection. even myself right now was kind of getting distracted with the muni bus going by people walking that. we've already seen dozens walking their dogs here this morning. >> and the actual scene is right here. it's hard to see because it's so dark outside. but there is caution tape

about there's lots of flowers and lots of candles. and they're actually said to have a vigil later today at around 5 o'clock in the afternoon. so we will be here for that. continuing to bring you the latest coverage. and once we get more details regarding that driver and the condition of that baby that's still in the hospital. last update was critical condition. we will continue to bring you latest news live this morning in san francisco in michael thomas will send it back to to live in the studio. michael, thank you. >> well, happening today, we got a pretrial proceedings are set to start this morning. that's in the case of the 2018 fatal crash involving a tesla. now the lawsuit alleges tesla's autopilot system caused the crash. kron four's will tran is live in san jose with more on the story. will. james tesla is on trial more specifically its autopilot system. and it's going to happen in about 2 and a half hours. >> at a courthouse right behind me. let me show you the video. it was nearly 6 years ago march of 2018 when walter he was going through mountain

view on 101. now, according to tesla, he was not the driver that autopilot was engaged and that they claim he repeatedly ignored warnings to take control of the vehicle. why is that important? because walter wrongs family says that the auto pilot was engaged at the time, should have made sure that there was no crash. what happened was all of a sudden his car veered into a center divider head on basically ripping the car in half at a divider. tesla says that the autopilot system is not a guarantee system where you will never get into a crash. it just makes it less likely to occur. the ntsb, they did look into this case and came up with the conclusion 18 months after the crash. the said that autopilot system was not working properly, that it missed the lane markings

before the fatal collision. tesla says that repeatedly, as i mentioned, ignored, retaking the wheel. so lots going on with this case. this impacts millions of tesla owners in this particular case, was driving a model x we shall see what's going to happen with this case. but we do know it's going to happen in about 2 and a half hours from now. >> whatever happens with this case will have ripple effects throughout the country because tesla, it's so popular. i got to tell you, i did a story last year about a recall and tesla did make advancements in the autopilot system where if you are not engaged, it will not engaged the autopilot system. >> all right. we'll thank you very much. meantime, tesla's settled multi-million dollar racial discrimination lawsuit. this is actually the second settlement stemming from a lawsuit followed by own diaz black man who worked as an elevator operator at the company's fremont plant. well, diaz as his less racist

graffiti in the restrooms and they regularly used a racist epithets. federal jury previously awarded diaz 3.2 million dollars in damages. the terms of the second settlement are confidential. tesla is denying allegations of racism and they say they have a track record of equal employment opportunity. >> time now 606. and another big story that we're following this morning. fire crews put out a fire started that started inside of a gymnasium at amador valley high school in pleasanton last night. we have video where you can see here, large plumes of smoke rising from the rafters, official with the pleasanton unified school district says they have not been able to survey the damage just yet. firefighters still not sure what caused the fire. school officials says the high school will hold classes today. obviously, the gymnasium, though, will be off limits. also in the east bay berkeley, police are investigating the city's first homicide of the year. police say a person was stabbed to death on university

avenue yesterday afternoon between san pablo avenue in sacramento street police arrested one person believed to have been involved. >> plenty of police are investigating the suspicious death of a man was found badly burned. contra costa fire crews called police on saturday after discovering a person who was severely burned and deceased right in the back area of the 2900 block of mill in court crime scene investigators took over the case. the person cause of death will be determined by a medical examiner. and the north bay. a man is recovering from major injuries after a drunk driver hit that man's car rohnert park. police shared the picture of the aftermath. it happened just after 02:30am morning, right? intersection of rohnert park expressway in commerce boulevard. police say a woman driving a red toyota pickup truck have 2 men riding with her when she crashed into the grace eye on. this is the driver failed a sobriety test. she and her 2 passengers are expected to be okay. however, the man driving the gres scion had to be extracted from the car, taken to the hospital for

surgery. we don't have any word on his condition at this time. the petaluma police say the 2 drunk drive s crashed into a motorcycle and a cul-de-sac in separate accidents. >> police say the first crash happened at 10, 54 saturday night when a man rear ended a motorcycle while driving on petaluma boulevard. northbound. they say he admitted to getting behind the wheel while under the influence. the motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with a possible broken leg. then a few hours later, officers say a man crashed his car into a roundabout and then ran away from the area. this happened shortly after midnight on sunday. this was on south mcdowell boulevard and baywood drive. they say they found him hiding in between houses a few blocks away. both drivers were booked into the county jail. well, happening today, alameda county district attorney pamela price and her supporters will address the public. and this comes as earlier this month, the registrar of voters received more than 123,000 signatures of support in a recall of

price. those signatures will now need to be counted by hand to make sure that they are all verified and meet the threshold of 73,000 signatures needed for a recall. price will address the public at jefferies inner circle on 14th street in oakland. at 10 o'clock. >> happening today, an annual game developer conference is set to kick off day one this morning in san francisco. it's a global game development community is expected to bring nearly 30,000 members to moscow. nice enter will feature more than 700 sessions, including talks from the makers of critically acclaimed games like super mario bros the legend of zelda. it's a great time for game developers that are seeking some new jobs. this year's conference run through friday. so make sure you look into that over the weekend popular k-pop group. i've it lit up the oakland arena during their debut us to war marking the 8th k-pop group perform than a decade. i've closer saturday night show

house fire in san francisco left to residents without a home. fire. crews say the fire happened sunday morning in the outer sunset area and a pickup truck catches on fire while driving down highway one apple vain. officials say the car crashed into 2 other vehicles after the fire started. and the saint mary's college gaels are headed to march madness as the number 5 in the west region bracket of this year's ncaa tournament faced a number 12 seed grand canyon university friday in spokane, washington. tipoff is set for 10:00:05pm. >> 6.14, is the time in east bay. people laced up their shoes for a 5 k shamrock run and walk in dublin yesterday morning. that's again, dublin, california. hundreds of people came out for the annual event. many of course, wearing green for saint patrick's day. families stuck around afterwards for the city's 39th annual saint patrick's festival. more than 250 vendors showcase their handmade goods in traditional irish food that could have asked for better weather. very nice was really fun to see everybody back in their green

over the week. know look good out there. yeah, we've got john in the weather center. into a farmer's market on saint patrick's day has had a code initially had to take that off. it was too i know it was a toasty real quick yesterday for sure. i was walking around the shirts and t-shirts and was just fine. today is going to be another day of those 70's before we do cool things down. >> for the rest of the forecast after today where we're sitting right now. we do have a little bit of fog this morning. we are seeing that foggy blanket having pushed back in the offshore winds are long gone. and that means that we do have some cool coastal air specially right up against the coastline today, the last day of winter and the last day of our 70's, we actually have a bit of a cool down into the start of spring tomorrow and thursday. we stay dry, but we are going to see a few passing clouds and temperatures on average about 5 to 10 degrees cooler friday night into saturday morning. our next system drops in and this one is going to result in some more mountain snowfall in the

sierra and some more showers here in the bay area. as we make our way into the weekend. as i mentioned, this really kicks off mostly into friday evening. the timing of that could change a little bit. that's what we're rounding it out to right now. san francisco could see around 3 quarters of an inch as we move into the weekend spots like eureka and reading closer to 3 inches of rainfall up on the north coast and the southern cascades. as for us in the bay area today, though, nothing even close to rainfall just yet just some 60's 70's for yet another day. very comfortable afternoon. look at the south bay getting into the mid 70's with san jose at 76 degrees east bay temps. also mid 70's hayward in castro valley at 73 while oakland through richmond. right at that 70 degree mark, our warmest spots, vacaville fairfield benicia and allay all at 77. that's about as close as 80. we've gotten in a long time in the bay. tomorrow cools down a little bit. we started trend of 60's as we kick off spring tomorrow. temperatures will remain that

way into the weekend with highs, barely even hitting 60 degrees by saturday and sunday, right? all right, john, thank you for that. let's going. you're not seen any accidents on your bridges. >> over a little busy, 60 min right? traveling into the city on the bay bridge. some of bridge just short of 14 minutes. 82 want to want richmond. sandra fell bridge around 8 minutes and the golden gate bridge. 37 of its holes looking good. 19 minute ride. >> ok, time now, 6.17, and the east bay, a car slammed into a city national bank in downtown oakland during an attempted burglary. it happened on broadway and 12th police say 4 or 5 people were in the car when it drove into the bank just before 6 o'clock friday morning. once inside, police say the would-be burglars weren't able to gain access to anything of value. so they ran away. no injuries were reported. police are still looking for those suspects this morning. meanwhile, the petaluma police department says more than 30 vehicles were targeted in what appears to be a car break-in spree. the thefts happened all over the city saturday night.

officers say they happened at the petaluma village premium outlets saint vincent's high school capri creek, apartments, sheraton hotel just to name a few. now the police department is asking anyone who lives near the area to check their home. security cameras may be captured. the thieves and crooks in action. if you do. help police. >> well, as head of the south bay, as a man is recovering from injuries after being hit by a drunk driver. 7 on 2.80. this is on the scene of 2.18, north of vine street around 11 friday night. chp says they are not sure why the man was walking on the interstate. that's a white bmw hit. the victim head-on. when police arrived, the victim was unresponsive and had to be taken to the hospital. the driver was arrested. no word yet on how the victim is doing. and a judge appointet a special master to oversee the women's prison in dublin. this is all part of a lawsuit filed by 8 inmates claiming abuse from some of the prison

workers. it's also comes out of the fbi rated that prison last week as we first reported agency's computers and documents since 2021 7 prison employees. pleaded guilty or were convicted of abuse. and another case is still pending. well, former president donald trump is causing controversy now on the campaign trail during a rally this weekend. he warned of what he called a blood bath if he loses the election. >> and then he also called immigrants animals. washing correspondent hannah brandt joins us live with the latest on that morning. hannah. >> rayna james, good morning. trump's remarks are drawing some sharp blow back from many democrats and some republicans as well. but there are also those who are defending him. >> at a rally in ohio, former president donald trump was talking about his plan to tax foreign made cars when he made a dark production. we're going to put 100% tariff on every single car. >> that comes across the line and you're not going to be able to sell those guys. if i

get elected. now, if i do get elected, it's going to be a bloodbath for the home. that's going to be the least of it. it's going to be a bloodbath for the country. and in his speech, he also attacked undocumented immigrants. i don't know if you call up people in some cases, they're not people in my opinion. these are animals. okay. >> and we have to stop it. critics slammed the remarks. what does that mean? he's going to exact a bloodbath. there's something wrong here. congresswoman nancy pelosi told cnn trump's comments underscore how important it is for democrats to reelect president biden. we just have to win this election on nbc's meet the press, republican senator bill cassidy also criticized the comments. clearly the president's rhetoric is reflected poorly. many americans continue to wonder should president trump be president? but on cbs, trump's former vice president mike pence defended the bloodbath comments. president was clearly talking about the impact of of imports devastating the american automotive industry. what congressman mike turner told abc while he disagrees with the wording, he's more focused

on trump's border policies. donald trump is the only candidate in this race. it's going to be able to have to fix this crisis. >> in a statement the trump campaign said the former president was talking about the economic consequences of another biden term accusing critics of taking his words out of context live in washington. i'm hannah brandt. all right, anne, thank you. the breakdown there. >> it is 6.21. and we have new data this morning revealing that marriage rates have gone up and divorce rates have gone down after the pandemic research from the cdc shows that the number of people getting married in 2020 dipped to below average by 2022, though it was back on the rise again. on the flip side, the force has been trending down. experts say the growth of marriage rates maybe do to more than just rescheduling. they believe people are picking partners who are more like their best friend instead of we're lying on romance. coming up on the kron 4 morning news. the sfmta is getting ready to discuss locations for 33 speed cameras that they plan to install

>> the north bay deputies in sonoma county air lifted a camper who experience severe medical emergency. this is at lake sonoma this weekend. sonoma county sheriff's office shared this video. deputies

using a helicopter to rescue the camper from the campgrounds. first responders for the patient to an awaiting air ambulance, which transfer them to a local hospital. no word on the patient's condition. i just responding to a crash in san francisco's pacific heights neighborhood citizen app video shows a car flipped over on its side. this is on jackson street right near the house of prime rib. was no fire. crews say the driver of the car also crashed into parked cars. they say the driver taken to the hospital for treatment. no word yet on what caused the crash to happen. >> in the east bay, alameda county now is getting 30 million dollars for street improvements from oakland to san leandro, u.s. department of transportation gave the money to the bay greenway project. that project plans to install protected bikeways improve pedestrian crossings and put more benches and lighting at bus stops. oakland congresswoman barbara lee and castro valley congressman eric

street exit in san francisco. so just be mindful of that. hopefully they'll get that hazard off the exit. 14 minutes on the san mateo bridge. no lock is no delays, which was our word about 13 minutes and the golden gate bridge. 37 of the tolls 20 minute ride. >> all right. now, more trouble for united airlines on a flight leaving sfo this time. the problem was discovered until the plane landed in oregon. we've got kron four's dan thorn to explain. another issue for united airlines flight leaving sfo after landing at rogue valley international medford airport friday afternoon. >> united aircraft was found without an external panel. medford airport spokesperson says they were forced to briefly pause operations on the runway to look for any debris. none was found. this is a very minor incident in the grand scheme of things. retired commercial airline pilot doug rice says.

>> the external panel is an aluminum fairing which helps smooth the air against the plane. >> making for a smoother ride. this specific boeing 7.37. is a 25 year-old aircraft. and rice says at that age metal fatigue can set these aircraft, go through a significant amount of maintenance they should be catching these things. what we're learning now is that we have to be more aware of these things as they go through maintenance and double checking and triple checking the this latest issue for united is making some passengers feel uneasy on thursday. a flight approaching sfl had a hydraulic leak with some smoke seen by the landing gear. >> last week, a japan-bound plane lost a wheel during takeoff and had to make an emergency landing in los angeles. and on monday, a united flight bound for sfo from australia was forced to turn around because of a maintenance issue.

>> i think it's a little bit the scary the fact that this keeps coming up on the set. and i i don't know if it's because we haven't been aware and now we are. always said, and it's it's an immediate issue that we're dealing with. >> it's scary for people. a united spokesperson says there wasn't an emergency landing in oregon because there was no indication of damage during the flight. they're now going to do an investigation to find out what happened at sfo. dan thorn kron. 4 news. >> police are investigating 2 separate friday night shootings. the first happened around 10, 30 friday night on 100 and second avenue, not far from international boulevard and esperanza elementary school. police say they found san francisco man shot later died at the scene and all man was taken into custody for that shooting. police have not shared any details on that arrest. second shooting happened just before 01:00am saturday on international boulevard while on the corner of 8th avenue near clinton park officers on scene say they found evidence of a

shooting could not find a victim. police later learned a person suffering from gunshot wounds took themselves to the hospital. >> in the north bay, new details now about a shooting and a car chase that injured 4 sonoma county sheriff's deputies. officials released 9-1-1 audio from body camera footage. and we want to warn you, some might find this video disturbing. >> yes, i we haven't got become for many are trading desk. you've like a ripe for funding. what's the address? >> authorities say that jose luis, sir vontaze showed up at a nightclub on stony point and todd rhodes after being kicked out the night before police say surround is came to the business with an ak 47 style assault rifle and threatened to shoot people when deputies arrived. 70's drove off. that's say he eventually pulled into a parking lot on todd and standish roads and that is where he opened fire on the deputies with that assault rifle. you can hear

all the gunfire. investigators say after firing several times about a cent, got back into his car and drove back to the nightclub before leading police on a chase that ended in this crash that you see here. cervantes died at the scene during the shootout for deputies were injured. 3 are recovering at home. the 4th deputy suffered a head injury when he was run over by a fellow deputy in the confusion. that deputy still in the hospital. >> but he should. police arrested 2 men after exchanging gunfire on 7.80 friday night. police say this started as a chase around 09:20pm, after a car spotted in connection to a robbery took off onto the freeway. one of the suspect shot at officers for crashing the car in the bottom of the eastbound off-ramp in military west, one suspect was arrested right away. other ran off and continued shooting at officers who returned fire. officers managed to arrest the second suspect after the man was found hiding in some bushes.

that incident shut down portions of 7.80, per several hours. no injuries were reported. i don't know. bottles school went into lockdown over reports of student with a handgun on campus police department. they responded to sinaloa middle school friday. came after classes were over for the day. police found the students involved caring nurse guns. there are participated in a high school senior challenge. so unclear what's which school? the challenge actually happened that. >> well, friday, a possible road rage incident led to stabbings in sunnyvale. according to police officers arrived at about 03:00pm. area of lawrence expressway and our case avenue after getting reports of several men fighting in the street, officers found 2 men suffering from stab wounds. they were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive. there are 2 suspects in the case. one who was arrested at the scene and another who allegedly fled the scene but was taken into custody in redwood city later that day, both of nap and
