for that. they will. in the last hour we had a traffic hazard. >> right near the 4th street exit along 80. so that's now clear. but look at drive times have already gone up 38 minutes. may's to that fremont street exit. so unfortunately, that's probably just from residual delays. it's going to be there for your morning commute. 60 minutes on the mateo bridge, 80 to 101 year richmond center fell bridge about 14 minutes and the golden gate bridge. 37 of the tolls. 22 minutes. >> well, this morning, we continue to follow that deadly crash involving a family of 4 in san francisco's west portal neighborhood. police afcon from a 3rd person died from their injuries albers. michael thomas is live in san francisco with the latest on this tragedy morning. michael. >> really a tragic heartbreaking story to say the least 3 of those 4 family members now killed again in that accident. and the survivor, an infant that is listed as critical condition still in the hospital this morning. behind me is the scene. lots of caution tape,

flowers and of course, candles. and to give you a better look at the scene. take a look. we've got daylight video up on your screen. just you can get an idea of what the intersection is looking like. now. this all happened on saturday afternoon in san francisco's west portal neighborhood on the lowest rate. officials say the driver of an suv slammed into a muni bus shelter while driving eastbound on alloa. 2 people did die at the scene 3rd died in the hospital sunday. neighbors tell us what the family of 4 and that both the mother and father along with a child were killed. they say that the father and child died at the scene with the mother passed away yesterday in the hospital. one person still remains in critical condition and that is an the last standing, family member that we know of in that family of 4, according to neighbors. now, police say the driver of that suv was also injured in that accident. see they were taken to the hospital. as of right now, everything is still under investigation, but they do not believe traffic engineering with a factor. we spoke with a sustainable

transportation advocates who says he started a petition to actually close down this intersection so that we know cars will be allowed to drive through here all. take a listen to what he had to say. >> one walk up here. there's a library. there's multiple schools as a park in a you know, there's a church, there's doctors offices. there's merchant corridor. this is not the place they should have cut their car traffic going through and some people want to see it safe. >> now back out here live, we're going to put the camera over on that where the actual accident did happen. you can see all of those flowers along you know, just a memorial in the center. there is also a stroller that's there as well. >> so this area is closed off when it comes to a vigil. there's one that is set to be happening later on this evening at around 5 o'clock or so. >> when it comes to the condition of that infant still in the hospital, police say there's no current update still listed as critical

condition. and when it comes to the driver, we're still waiting for more details on what may have caused this deadly crash live in san francisco. michael thomas, i will send it back to you to live in the studio thank you, michael. >> i will happening today. you have pretrial proceedings set to start this morning in the case of a 2018 fatal crash that involved a tesla. yeah. the lawsuit alleges tesla's autopilot system caused the crash. >> kron four's will tran live in san jose. now with the latest on the story. well, >> this all happened in about an hour. and 45 minutes from now in the courtroom right behind me, james tesla is on trial. may show you the video. this was nearly 6 full years ago when walter was driving southbound on 101, through mountain view. he was in his tesla when the tesla, all of a sudden crashes into a divider. now it was so violent that the tesla was ripped in half as walter ultimately died from his injuries. the looked into

this and they said, yes, the autopilot system did play a role in this. so walter wong's family, including his wife and 2 minor children, they are suing tesla believing that the autopilot system misled consumers like walter believing that the autopilot system was fully self-driving, that he did not have to drive. they also point out that he was so confident in it that he set the cruise control to 75 miles per hour. set it on autopilot and proceeded to play video games on his iphone before the crash. now tesla, they came out and said, well, the autopilot system is not a guarantee system will you will never crash. it just makes it less likely to crash. and they also said that repeated a nord warnings to retake control of the car. so tesla's on trial.

and this is a big case because obviously testa tesla is used by millions of drivers throughout the world and throughout america, of the eyes of the auto industry. we'll be watching what happens in the courtroom right behind me again, it's tesla to blame or do you believe that the consumers in this case, while to wong's family that he believed that the autopilot system was going to protect. >> interesting. all right. thank you very much. meantime, tesla's settled a multi-million dollar racial discrimination lawsuit. >> this is actually the second settlement stemming from a lawsuit filed by all india is black man who worked as an elevator operator at the company's fremont plant. the u.s. says his left racist graffiti in the restrooms and regularly use racist epithets. federal jury previously awarded diaz 3.2 million dollars in damages. the terms of this second settlement are confidential. tesla has denied

allegations of racism. they say it has a track record of equal employment opportunity. >> well, another big story that we're following this morning. a fire breaks out inside of the gym at amador valley high school in pleasanton last night. it's out now. but you can see here in this video what it looked like while it was burning an official with the pleasanton unified school district says they haven't been able to survey the damage. yes, yet firefighters are still looking into the cause of the fire. school officials says the high school will hold classes today, but obviously the gym will be off limits. also in the east bay, berkeley, police are investigating the city's first homicide of the year. police say a person was stabbed to death on university avenue yesterday afternoon right between san pablo avenue in sacramento street police arrested one person they believe was involved. >> well, police are investigating the suspicious death of a man who was found badly burned contra costa fire crews called police on saturday after discovering a person was severely burned and deceased in the back area of the 29 block of now in court

crime scene investigators took over the case. the person's cause of death will be determined by a medical examiner. and of the north. man is recovering from major injuries after a drunk driver hit the man's car. rona part police shared the picture of the aftermath. happened just after 2.30, yesterday morning. the intersection of rohnert park expressway and commerce boulevard. police say a woman driving a red toyota pickup truck had 2 men riding with her when she crashed into a grace eye on. they say the driver failed a sobriety test, but she and 2 passengers are expected to be okay. however, the man driving the gres site had to be extracted from the car, taken to the hospital for surgery. we don't have any word on his condition at this time. >> in petaluma, police say 2 drunk drivers crashed into a motorcycle and a cul-de-sac in separate accidents. police say the first crash happened at 10, 54 saturday night when a man rear ended a motorcycle while driving on petaluma boulevard north bound. they say he admitted to getting behind the wheel while under

the influence. the motorcyclist was taken to hospital with a possible broken leg. then a few hours later, officers say a man crashed his car roundabout and then ran away from the area. this happened shortly after midnight sunday on south mcdowell boulevard and baywood drive. they say they found him hiding between houses a few blocks away. both drivers were booked into the county jail. happening today. alameda county district attorney pamela price will address the public this morning. this after the registrar of voters receive more than 120,000 signatures in support of recalling her. those signatures will be counted by hand and verified to make sure they meet the threshold of 73,000 signatures needed for a recall price will address the public at jefferies inner circle on 14th street in oakland at 10 o'clock this morning. >> over the weekend, popular k-pop group hive lit up oakland arena during their debut u.s. tour marking the 8th k-pop group to perform there in a decade. so i've closer saturday night show with the song all night

madness. this year, a total of 38 states and the district of columbia now allow some form of sports betting and the american gaming association estimates 2.7 billion will be bet this year on the ncaa men's and women's basketball tournaments through legal sportsbooks live from the nasdaq market site. i'm jane king back to rid all right. jane, thank you for that update. there. >> 7.17, on the clock. and in the east bay, a car slammed into city national bank in downtown oakland during an attempted robbery. this happened on broadway and 12th police say 4 or 5 people were in the car when it drove into the bank just before 6 o'clock friday morning. once inside, police say the would-be burglars, we're not able to gain anything of value. so they ran away. no injuries reported. but police are still looking for the suspects this morning. the petaluma police department says more than 30 vehicles were targeted in what appears to be a car break-in spree. the thefts happened all over the city saturday night. officers say, hey, they happened at the petaluma village premium outlets. saint

vincent high school, capri creek, apartments. the sheraton hotel just to name a few. the police department is asking anyone who lives near these areas to check their home security footage. you may have captured the thieves in the act. >> well, in the south bay, a man is recovering from injuries after being hit by a drunk driver on to 80. this was the scene on 2.80, north of vine street around 11 friday night. chp says they are not sure why the man was walking on the interstate. thus a white bmw hit the victim head-on. police arrived, the victim was unresponsive and that to be taken to the hospital. the driver was arrested. we don't have any word on how the victim is doing. and a judge appointed a special master to oversee the women's prison in dublin. this is all part of a lawsuit filed by 8 inmates claiming abuse from some of the prison workers. all comes after the fbi raided that prison last week as we first reported agency's computers documents. well, since 2021 7 prison employees either

pleaded guilty or they were convicted of abuse. and another case is still pending. >> 7.19, the time national news this morning. former president donald trump now causing some controversy on the campaign trail during a rally this weekend. he warned of what he called a blood bath if he loses the election. also called immigrants animals. washington correspondent hannah brandt has the latest on that. >> trump's remarks are drawing sharp criticism from many democrats and some republicans as well. but there are those that are defending him. >> at a rally in ohio, former president donald trump was talking about his plan to tax foreign made cars when he made a dark production. we're going to put 100% tariff on every single car. >> that comes across the line and you're not going to be able to sell those guys. if i get elected. now i do get elected. it's going to be a bloodbath for the whole. that's going to be the least of it. it's going to be a bloodbath for the country. and in his speech, he also attacked undocumented immigrants. i don't know if

you call up people in some cases, they're not people in my opinion. these are animals. okay. >> and we have to stop it. critics slammed the remarks. what does that mean? he's going to exact a bloodbath. there's something wrong here. congresswoman nancy pelosi toed cnn trump's comments underscore how important it is for democrats to reelect president biden. we just have to win this election on nbc's meet the press, republican senator bill cassidy also criticized the comments. clearly the president's rhetoric is reflected poorly. many americans continue to wonder should president trump be president? but on cbs, trump's former vice president mike pence defended the bloodbath comments. president was clearly talking about the impact of of imports devastating. the american automotive industry. what congressman mike turner told abc while he disagrees with the wording, he's more focused on trump's border policies. donald trump is the only candidate in this race is going to be able to have to fix this crisis. >> in a statement the trump campaign said he was clearly talking about the economic consequences of another biden term, accusing those who criticized him of taking his

hospital. have any word on the patient's condition just yet. emergency crews responding to a crash in san francisco's pacific heights neighborhood citizen app video shows a car flipped over on its side. this is right on jackson street near the house of prime rib san francisco. fire crews say the driver of the car also crashed into parked cars. they say the driver was say to the hospital for treatment. we don't have any word on what might have caused that car to crash. >> in the east bay, alameda county now is receiving 30 million dollars for street improvements for from oakland to san leandro. this is the u.s. department of transportation giving the money to the green are the bay greenway project. the project plans to install protected bikeways improve pedestrian crossings and put more benches and lighting at bus stops. oakland congresswoman barbara lee and castro valley congressman eric swalwell have been supporting the project in

until the plane actually landed in oregon. problem dan thorn has that story. >> another issue for united airlines flight leaving sfo after landing at rogue valley international medford airport friday afternoon. united aircraft was found without an external panel. medford airport spokesperson says they were forced to briefly pause operations on the runway to look for any debris. none was found. this is a very minor incident in the grand scheme of things. retired commercial airline pilot doug rice says. >> the external panel is an aluminum fairing which helps smooth the air against the plane. >> making for a smoother ride. this specific boeing 7.37. is a 25 year-old aircraft. and rice says at that age metal fatigue can set these aircraft, go through a significant amount of maintenance they should be catching these things. what

we're learning now is >> that we have to be more aware of these things as they go through maintenance and double checking and triple checking the this latest issue for united is making some passengers feel uneasy. >> on thursday, a flight approaching sfl had a hydraulic leak with some smoke seen by the landing gear last week. a japan-bound plane lost a wheel during takeoff and had to make an emergency landing in los angeles. and on monday, a united flight bound for sfo from australia was forced to turn around because of a maintenance issue. >> think it's a little scary. the fact that this keeps coming up all the sudden and i i don't know if it's because we haven't been aware and now we are. always said, and it's it's an immediate issue that we're dealing with. >> it's scary for people. a united spokesperson says there wasn't an emergency landing in oregon because there was no indication of damage during the flight. they're now going to do an investigation to find

out what happened at sfo. dan thorn kron. 4 news >> oakland police are now investigating 2 separate friday night shooting. it. the first one happened around 10, 30 friday night on 100 and second avenue, not far from international boulevard and esperanza elementary school. police say they found a san francisco man shot later died at the scene and all the man was taken into custody for that shooting. police have not shared any details on that arrest. and the second shooting happened just before 01:00am saturday on international boulevard. white on the corner of 8th avenue near clinton park law officers on the scene say they found evidence of a shooting could not find a victim. police later learned a person suffering from gunshot wounds took themselves to the hospital. >> in the north bay, new details now about a shooting and car chase that injured 4 sonoma county sheriff's deputies. officials released the 9-1-1 audio and body camera footage. and we want to warn you, some might find the video disturbing

>> yes, i we haven't got become for many are trading desk. >> you've like a rifle orphaned. florida authorities say that jose luis. >> cervantes showed up at that nightclub on stony point. and todd rhodes after being kicked out the night before police say he came to that business with an ak 47 style assault rifle threatening to shoot people deputies arrived. that's when he took off. investigators say eventually pulled into a parking lot on todd and standish roads and that is where he opened fire on deputies with that assault rifle. and here's a portion of that. investigators say after firing several times survived, got back into his car, go back to the nightclub before then leading police on a chase that ended in this crash that you see here. so on died at the scene and it was during a shoot out before deputies were injured. 3 recovering at home.

but that 4th deputy suffered a head injury when he was run over by a fellow deputy in the confusion. that deputy still in the hospital. >> hopeny should police arrested 2 men after exchanging gunfire on 7.80 friday night. police say this all started as a chase around 09:20pm, after a car spawn in connection to a robbery took off onto the freeway. one of the suspects shot at officers before crashing that car at the bottom of the eastbound off-ramp. military west one suspect was arrested right away. the other ran off and continued shooting at officers who returned fire. officers managed to arrest a second suspect after the man was found hiding in some bushes. that incident shut down portions of 7.80, several hours. no injuries were reported. and then the battle school went into lockdown after reports of student with a handgun on campus police department. they responded to sinaloa middle school on friday. came after classes were over for the day. police

found the students carry nerf guns. they were participating in a high school senior challenge. it's unclear what school challenge actually happened. death. >> well, friday, a possible road rage incident led to stabbings in sunnyvale was according to police. that they arrived around 03:00pm in the area of lawrence expressway and our keys avenue after getting reports of several men fighting in the street. officers found 2 men suffering from stab wounds. they were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive. there are 2 suspects in this case. one who was arrested at the scene and another who allegedly fled thscne but was eventually taken into custodyn redwood city. both now been booked into jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon along with other charges. in the south bay. a motorcyclist in sunnyvale died in an accident sunday morning. it happened at about 07:00am. police say the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on lawrence expressway and was making a left turn onto our

keys when car heading southbound crashed into him. the motorcyclist died at the scene. the driver of the car suffered minor injuries. police say there are no signs that drugs or alcohol played a factor in that crash. >> well, in the east bay, antioch, police are looking for a driver who hit a pedestrian and then just drove off after one, 30 am on saturday. officers say a kia sedan struck a man right near over avenue and then drove away. that man died at the scene. >> happening tomorrow, the sfmta will discuss where it plans to install 33 speed cameras next year in san francisco, transit officials are looking to install some of them in places like school zones and areas that have seen sideshows officials say in the first 2 months of operation, though, sent warning notices. but after that fines will be sent to those caught breaking the law. >> we would be very happy if this program earns no revenue. what we're trying to do is change behavior. >> all the locations for the
