last sunday monday that we say we're finishing up winter on a warm note, but we're going to start spring on a cooler one, last few days of winter have been 70's for us. lots of sunshine. and today. >> the very last day of the season is eventually going to bring plenty of sun with it. and another day with some of those 70's that i hope you got a chance to enjoy this weekend. tomorrow, your first day of spring, just the opposite. we start our downhill slide back into cooler and eventually wetter weather where we're sitting right now, the east bay hills getting a few peeks of sunshine, but still pretty clouded out areas that had been foggy this morning are getting increasingly clear as that fog lifts and begins to burn off. skies are going to be nice and sunny this afternoon and temperatures under all that sunshine will rise really quickly. we're still hanging out in the 40's to 50's right now. fremont and dublin, 8 at 47 48 degrees. berkeley nsf at 52 right now later on today, sunshine prevails. daytime highs in the 70's. enjoy it because i'm

talking cooler conditions just around the corner, all right, john, thank you for 17 minutes traveling into the city. no major accidents on the bay bridge. >> san mateo bridge around 30 minutes. a 80 to 101 richmond center fell bridge 8 minutes and the golden gate bridge. 37 of the tolls. 21 minutes. >> well, this morning, we continue to follow the deadly crash involving a family of 4 in san francisco's west portal neighborhood. police have confirmed 3rd person died from their injuries. kron four's michael thomas live in san francisco with the very latest. this is just a sad story. michael. >> we're really a sad and heartbreaking story to say the least you can see right here on the left-hand lots of caution tape still and people have now started a memorial. 3 out of those 4 people dead. and officials say that survivor is actually a baby currently in the hospital listed under critical condition. we've got video of what the scene looked like over the weekend. happened on saturday here in san francisco's west portal neighborhood on the lowest street. officials say the

driver of an suv slammed into a muni bus shelter while driving eastbound hitting multiple people leaving at least 3 dead. >> 2 died there at the scene while a 3rd died in the hospital sunday. neighbors tell us it was a family of 4 that the father and one child died at the scene. and it was the mother who passed away at the hospital yesterday. police have confirmed that that one survivor is an infant remains in critical condition this morning, adding that the driver of the suv was also injured. the accident is still under investigation today, but they do not believe traffic engineering was a factor. now we did speak with a sustainable transportation advocate that says they started a petition on line that's currently got over 1000 signatures to try and get this intersection closed off to cars altogether. >> within one block of here, there's a library. there's multiple schools as a park in a you know, there's a church, there's doctors offices. there's merchant corridor. >> this is not the place they should have covered. car traffic going through and some

people want to see it safe. >> i will say it is quite a busy intersection back out here live. you can see behind me, lots of cars moving and flowing. there's a school not too far. so many people come here and drop off their students to walk over to the school. there is a vigil that's set to happen later this evening. at 5 o'clock tonight when it comes to details regarding what may have caused the driver to go into that muni bus shelter. officials say it's still under investigation. so as we get more information regarding the driver, tonight's vigil and also the condition of that baby that's in the hospital. we'll keep you updated with very latest michael thomas reporting in san francisco. i will send it back to to live in the studio. >> okay, michael, thank you. also happening now, pretrial proceedings underway in the case of a 2018 fatal crash. this involved a tesla and we've got a lawsuit alleging the tesla's autopilot system. >> caused the crash. kron four's will tran following the story for us from san jose. will.

>> the pretrial proceedings are going on right now. this is nearly 6 full years after the fatal crash. it involves the widow and the 2 minor children of walter. they are suing tesla. let me show you video of what happened back in march of 2018. walter was going southbound on 1, through mountain view. he believed that the autopilot system was supposed to fully take control of the car. to the point where he said it is 75 miles per hour. and then proceeded to play video games on his iphone. short time later, the tesla model x veers out of control, slams into a divider, splitting his tesla in half. he would die from his injuries a few days later, his family is suing tesla for many reasons, including the auto pilot system failed to see the markings on the ground and veered into the divider. also,

they claim that the auto pilot program was supposed to be perfect to the point where consumers believed in it and where walter actually was playing video games because he believed in it. tesla said that the auto pilot program, we're supposed to reduce the risk of accidents, not can remove it altogether. they also point out to the fact that the auto pilot program, as far as they're concerned, they tried to tell ah, wong to retake the control of the car multiple times before the fatal collision. this is going to be played out for a little while in court, but it will be watched closely. but a lot of people in the auto industry because anytime you're talking about tesla, it moves the needle and people want to know exactly what's going to happen with tesla. as far as the auto pilot program. and this is going on right now in the courtroom with the court building right behind. back to you.

>> meantime, tesla's settle a multi-million dollar racial discrimination lawsuit. this is actually the second settlement stemming from a lawsuit filed by india's a black man who worked as an elevator operator at the company's fremont plant. diaz says his colleagues, they left racist graffiti in the restrooms and they regularly used racist epithets. federal jury previously awarded diaz 3.2 million dollars in damages. terms of that second settlement are confidential. tesla denied allegations of racism and says it has a track record of equal employment opportunity. >> another big story that we're following now. a fire breaks out inside the gym at amador valley high school in pleasanton last night. it's now out. but you can see here in the video what it looked like while it was burning an official with the pleasanton unified school district says they have not been able to survey the damage just yet. firefighters are still looking for what caused the fire. school officials says the high school will hold classes there today. also in the east bay

berkeley police now investigating the city's first homicide of the year. it was yesterday afternoon that officers found the victim stabbed to death on university avenue between san pablo avenue in sacramento street police arrested one person they believe was involved. >> full antioch police are investigating the suspicious death of a man was found pretty badly burned. contra costa. fire crews call police on saturday after discovering a person who's severely burned and deceased. right in the back of 2900 block of miller court crime scene investigators took over the case versus cause of death will be determined by a medical examiner. all the north bay, a man is recovering from major injuries after a drunk driver hit the man's car rohnert park. police shared the picture of the aftermath. it happened just after 2.30, the intersection of rohnert t t- park expressway and commerce boulevard. police say a woman driving a red truck had 2 men riding with her. she crashed into the grace eye on. they

say the driver failed a sobriety test, but she and her 2 passengers are expected to be okay. however, the man driving the grace ion had to be extracted from the car. you can see just how bad it is. there. he had to be taken to the hospital for surgery and we don't have any word on his condition at this time. >> in petaluma, police now investigating to drunk driving accidents, one of which sent a motorcyclist to the hospital. police say the first crash happened at about 11 o'clock saturday night when a man rear ended a motorcyclist while driving on petaluma boulevard. they say he admitted to driving under the influence. the motorcyclist went to the hospital with a possible broken leg. then a few hours later, officers say a man crashed his car into a roundabout ran away. this happened on south mcdowell boulevard and baywood drive. police found him hiding between houses a few blocks away. happening today, alameda county district attorney pamela price will be addressing the public this morning. this after the registrar of voters receive more than 120,000 signatures

really been tpe big hitter like a chat gpt or with google's gemini. so it looks like they're in a license. google's gemini, a suite of of assistance will be some chatbots will be some coding assistance to be built into the iphone. apple's really been focusing on software working with their hardware because they make their own hardware whereas google's really focusing on delivering the services to the cloud and it seems like apple's misstep that we what wall street thinks this point in time. so this is a big win for google to get apple's ecosystem. it's not a done deal yet, but some things that you can do on your phone and that our ai powered, for instance, you can you'll be able to have your phone call me sound like james but will be a robot to drop tomorrow. can you do a story on the ncaa or making hair appointment for you or make a restaurant reservation. so it sounds like a human. it's i good and bad to that. some dark sides with that. yeah. so google is trying to address the dark side by having that

back at 9.24. east bay, a car slammed into a city national bank in downtown oakland during an attempted burglary. it happened on broadway and 12th police say 4, 5 people were inside the car at the time it drove into the bank, which was right around 6 o'clock friday morning. once inside, though, police say these would-be thieves found that they could get access to anything valuable. so they ran away. no injuries were

reported. police are still looking for the suspects this morning. meanwhile, the petaluma police department says more than 30 vehicles were targeted in what appears to be a car break-in spree. the thefts happened all over the city saturday night. officers say they happened at the petaluma village premium outlets that saint vincent's high school, the sheraton hotel just to name a few police department is asking anyone in the area to check your home surveillance cameras. you may have captured these thieves in the act in your neighborhood? well, in the south bay, a man is now recovering from injuries. >> after being hit by a drunk driver on to 80. so this was the scene on 2.80, north of vine street around 11 friday night. chp says they're not sure why the man was walking on the interstate. they say white bmw hit the victim head-on. when police arrived, the victim was unresponsive and taken to the hospital. the driver was arrested. no word yet on how the victim is doing. and a judge appointed a special master to oversee the women's prison in dublin. this is all part of a lawsuit filed by 8 inmates claiming abuse

international medford airport friday afternoon. united aircraft was found without an external panel. medford airport spokesperson says they were forced to briefly pause operations on the runway to look for any debris. none was found. this is a very minor incident in the grand scheme of things. retired commercial airline pilot doug rice says. >> the external panel is an aluminum fairing which helps smooth the air against the plane. >> making for a smoother ride. this specific boeing 7.37. is a 25 year-old aircraft. and rice says at that age metal fatigue can set these aircraft, go through a significant amount of maintenance they should be catching these things. what we're learning now is >> that we have to be more aware of these things as they go through maintenance and double checking and triple checking the this latest issue for united is making some passengers feel uneasy.

>> on thursday, a flight approaching sfl had a hydraulic leak with some smoke seen by the landing gear last week. a japan-bound plane lost a wheel during takeoff and had to make an emergency landing in los angeles. and on monday, a united flight bound for sfo from australia was forced to turn around because of a maintenance issue. >> think it's a little scary. the fact that this keeps coming up all the sudden and i i don't know if it's because we haven't been aware and now we are. always said, and it's it's an immediate issue that we're dealing with. >> it's scary for people. a united spokesperson says there wasn't an emergency landing in oregon because there was no indication of damage during the flight. they're now going to do an investigation to find out what happened at sfo. dan thorn kron. 4 news. >> police are investigating 2 separate friday night shootings. first one happened around 10, 30 friday night on

100nd avenue. not far from international boulevard. and as for iran's elementary school, well, police say they found a san francisco man shot and later died at the scene. local man was taken into custody for that shooting. police have not shared any details on that arrest. and the second shooting happened just before 01:00am saturday on international boulevard. well, on the corner of 8th avenue near clinton park, police say that they found evidence of a shooting, but they could not find a victim. police later learned a person suffering from gunshot wounds took themselves to the hospital. >> on the north or in the north bay. new details now about a shooting and a car chase that injured 4 sonoma county sheriff's deputies. officials released 9-1-1, audio and body camera footage which will share with you here throughout this story. but want to warn you, some of it you may find disturbing will begin with the 9-1-1 call. >> yes, i we haven't got become for many are trading desk. you've like a ripe for funding. >> so that was the call that authorities say told them that

jose luis serve on taste. was at a nightclub on stony point and todd rhodes, he was kicked out the night before. police say though he came back to that business this time armed with an ak 47 style assault rifle and threatened to shoot people. deputies got to the scene when they got their 70's drove off. investigators say eventually pulled into a parking lot on todd and standish roads and that's where opened fire on deputies with that assault rifle. and here's some of the body camera video showing that. investigators say after firing several times cervantes then got back into his car and drove back to the club before then leading police on a chase that ended with this crash you see on your screen. cervantes died at the scene that during a shootout for deputies were injured. 3 are recovering at home, but that 4th deputy suffered a head injury when he was run over by a fellow deputy in the confusion. deputies still in the

hospital. >> well, police arrested 2 men after exchanging gunfire on 7.80. this all happened friday night. police say this started to chase around 9.20, after a car spotted in connection to a robbery took off on the freeway. one of the suspect shot at officers before crashing the car right at the bottom eastbound off-ramp. one suspect was arrested right away. the other ran off and continued shooting at police who then returned fire. officers managed to arrest the second suspect after that man was found hiding in some bushes. the incident shut down portions of 7.80, for several hours. no injuries were reported. the battle school went into lockdown over reports of a student with a handgun on campus police department. they responded to sinaloa middle school on friday. came after classes were over for the day. police found the students involved caring nurse guns and they said they were participating in a high school senior challenge. still unclear what school that challenge actually took place said.

>> well, friday, a possible road rage incident led to stabbings in sunnyvale, according to police officers. they arrived at about 03:00pm in the area of lawrence expressway and our keys avenue after reports of several men fighting in the streets. officers found 2 men suffering from stab wounds. they were rushed to the hospital and are expected to survive. then after a brief search, police found and arrested the 2 suspects involved. both book now in jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. in the south bay. a motorcyclist in sunnyvale has died in an accident sunday morning happened at about 07:00am. police say the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on lawrence expressway was trying to make a left turn onto arc east when a car heading southbound crashed into him. the motorcyclist died at the scene. the driver of the car suffered minor injuries. police say at this point there are no signs of drugs or alcohol played a factor in that crash. >> on the east bay, antioch, police are now looking for a driver who hit a pedestrian just drove off. it happened

after one. 30 am on saturday. police say a kia sedan struck a man near wilbur avenue, then drove away. the man died at the scene. >> happening tomorrow, the sfmta is set to discuss where it plans to install 33 speed cameras next year in san francisco, transit officials are looking into installing some of them in places like school zones in areas that have seen sideshows in the past. officials say in the first 2 months of operation they'll send out warning notices. but after that fines will be sent to those caught breaking the law. >> we would be very happy if this program earns no revenue. what we're trying to do is change behavior. >> the locations for the cameras will be talked about at the sfmta meeting tomorrow afternoon. >> well, social media giant meta under investigation. according to a new wall street journal report that report claims federal prosecutors and the fda are leading a new problem. internet is alleged role in facilitating the sale of illegal drug now their
