series and the first woman to pa the mlb all-star game, the organization says the both at oracle park will now be named brooks moons honor at a ceremony that will take place during a future game. giants president and co-ceo larry baer issued a statement following this announcement. it reads in part here without husband, the familiar and inspirational voice for generations of players and fans at oracle park as an ambassador for the organization and they respected leader right now has been a giant voice in the ballpark and in the community and will forever be giant. it will be a fitting tribute to name the pa booth in her honor. brooks moon also releasing a statement saying in part as a bay area native it has been the honor of my lifetime to serve on the mike and in the community for the giants for 24 years. the job has always been bigger than me. she goes on to say representation matters and is my great hope that my time in the booth has inspired little girls, young women and people of color to pursue their dreams, even if those dreams

seem impossible because impossible dreams can come true. san francisco assemblymember matt haney, those slamming the giants ownership over the decision to part ways with brooks moon on social media. haiti says, quote, the giants have decided the woman who connects so closely with their fans is expendable. an organization that could definitely use more diversity is announcing it was unable to find a way to keep the most visible non paying black employee. he goes on to say it was a terrible move for a team whose majority owner charles johnson funds right wing politicians that were supportive of undermining a democratic election. no tried to disenfranchise black voters across america. berks moon was one of tfe few and the giants organization to publicly decried johnson's political activity. she was also outspoken in twenty-twenty in support of black lives matter. does not take a crazy johnson back. conspiracy theorist to connect the dots. alameda county district attorney

pamela price is addressing the public today. her campaign. and the team there that's in charge announcing that they have requested the u.s. attorney for northern california to investigate claims of fraud by signature gatherers. the team says they have asked california attorney general rob bonta to do the same on february 28th. but have not heard back. this is coming after the register. voters received more than 120,000 signatures in support of recalling price. the signatures will be counted by hand and verified to make sure that they meet the threshold of the 73,000 needed for a recall. some developing news out of san francisco where police have now announced a 78 year-old woman has been arrested in connection to a fatal crash in the city over the weekend. officers are saying mary lau was traveling eastbound on you, lois street when she crashed into a bus stop on lenox way. kron four's michael thomas is in san francisco with the latest. tragic situation to say the least 3 out of those 4 family members dying because of this accident over the weekend. and that one survivor, an infant.

>> listed under critical condition and still in the hospital today. >> it happened saturday afternoon in san francisco's west portal neighborhood on a low, a street. officials say the driver of an suv slammed into a muni bus shelter while driving eastbound hitting multiple people and leaving 3 dead. 2 died at the scene with a 3rd dying in the hospital sunday. neighbors tell us it was a family of 4 that was hit and the father and child died at the scene. and the mother is the one who passed in the hospital. police have confirmed that there is one survivor that's an infant and currently remains in critical condition, adding that the driver of the suv was also injured and that the accident is still under investigation. but they do not believe traffic engineering was a factor. we spoke with a sustainable transportation advocate that says he started a petition on like to have the intersection close permanently. >> within one block of here, there's a library. there's multiple schools as a park in a you know, there's a church, there's doctors offices. there's merchant corridor. this is not the place they

okay. >> and we have to stop critics slammed the remarks. what does that mean? he's going to exact a bloodbath. there's something wrong here. congresswoman nancy pelosi told cnn trump's comments underscore how important it is for democrats to reelect president biden. we just have to win this election on nbc's meet the press, republican senator bill cassidy also criticized the comments. clearly the president's rhetoric is reflected poorly. many americans continue to wonder should president trump be president? but on cbs, trump's former vice president mike pence defended the bloodbath comments. president was clearly talking about the impact of of imports devastating the american automotive industry. what congressman mike turner told abc while he disagrees with the wording, he's more focused on trump's border policies. donald trump is the only candidate in this race. it's going to be able to have to fix this crisis. >> in a statement the trump campaign said he was clearly talking about the economic consequences of another biden term, accusing those who criticized him of taking his words out of context in washington. i'm hannah brandt.

is considering whether the biden administration violated the first amendment by using social media platforms to remove post. the administration decided were false. >> or misleading. washington correspondent trevor shirley is in dc with more. the case was brought by 2 republican attorneys general who accuse the white house of being on a campaign of censorship. the case centers on the white house's efforts to combat misinformation, specifically related to covid-19 and the 2020 election. the lawsuit claims the administration colluded with social media platforms to identify individuals and organizations that the white house believed were responsible for dis-information since last year. the case has been making its way towards the supreme court. a lower court previously decided the administration likely had gone too far and urging social media companies to remove specific content. the counter the government's positions. the white house says the government should be able to work with social media companies to address matters

of public concern, especially related to safety. if this court reaches the merits and should reaffirm the government speech crosses the line into coercion, only viewed objectively it conveys threat of adverse government action. >> and because no thats happened here, the court reversed the government has no right to persuade platforms to violate americans. constitutional rights. >> and pressuring platforms in back rooms, shielded from public view is not using the bully pulpit at all. that's just being a bully. >> and the outcome of today's arguments is expected to have a long-term major impact on how the government can interact with social media platforms. the court's expected to release its decision later this spring reporting in washington. i'm trevor shirley. social media giant meta under investigation. according to a new wall street journal report that report claims federal prosecutors and the fda are. >> leading a new probe into medicine, alleged role in facilitating the sale of illegal drugs and other substances through the app

like facebook and also instagram. in a statement, a meta spokesperson said the sale of illicit drugs is against our policies and we work to find and remove the content from our services. investigators, though, are not so sure prosecutors and the fda have yet to comment, though, on this report. but matt, is president of global affairs push back a,ainst these allegations highlighting the company's partnership with the alliance to prevent drug harm and their efforts to stop the sale of drugs online. this is not the first time we've seen social media companies come under fire for drug sales. it was just 2 months ago. a california court ruled in favor with the families of 11 children who overdosed on fentanyl, which were allegedly bought on snapchat. snap chat will now face those families in court after a judge from the company could be liable for exposing minors to drug traffickers. antioch police are investigating the suspicious death of a man who was a found badly burnt contra. costa. fire crews

called police on saturday after discovering a person who was severely burned and deceased in the back area elim city national bank in downtown oakland during the attempted burglary. this happened on broadway in 12. police say 4 or 5 people were in the car when they drove into the bank just before 6 o'clock friday morning. and then once inside, police say these would-be burglars were not able to gain access to anything of value. so they took off. no injuries reported. police are still looking for those suspects. the nine-mile stretch of i 6.80, from pleasanton to snow is now officially back open. it reopened at 2.30 this morning. the freeway was closed over the weekend to remove and replace some deteriorated. pavements. caltrans says they shrank 30 nights of closures into one

single weekend with all the work that they did. get back open in the east by alameda county has now received 30 million dollars for street improvements. the u.s. department of transportation gave the money to the bay greenway project. that project is working to install protected bikeways, improve pedestrian crossing crossings and put more benches and lights at bus stops. congressional representative barbara lee and eric swalwell supported this project. the streets improvement will stretch from the lake merritt bart station, all the way to the bayfair bart station. let's take a look outside right now. here's what looks like in the city looking out towards the bay bridge, callous in the weather center. now, some to talk about what's going on. what is? >> the official last day of winter, but it feels like june out there he had to is just a beautiful day out there. lots of blue skies as we take a live look here. >> from the golden gate bridge traffic running. okay, too. and you can see the flag nice and calm, right? just a nice little breeze. there. temperatures are pretty nice. san francisco 57 degrees.

upper 50's for oakland, but we're already in the mid 60's in san jose. low 60's in livermore, concord, santa rosa where isil foggy this morning. 54 degrees for you. you'll be warming up, though, and half moon bay about 55. so you might be wondering why do we get this stretch of really nice weather write, why does it last for so many days? and explain that to a little bit here because the pattern that we've got that set up, it's called a rex block its when you have high pressure stacked on top of low-pressure and what it does is it makes it hard for anything to bump it out of the way. so what happens is the jet stream here kind of sets up and it almost looks like an s curve. and that's why we get what's called a rex block. okay. so that's what we're under right now. and you can see if we look to the future, how this is going to play out over the next few days. so it finally starts to get bumped out of the way by low pressure that starts to move in. it's going to bring us the chances of some rain as we head towards the weekend at some snow for the sierra. and you can see as you roll into friday night saturday and sunday. so if we look at future cast again, you can see how we kind of stay

dry until we start to get to friday. so here's thursday system kind of coming together friday, bringing in some rain by the time we get into the overnight there and into first part of saturday, some sierra snow coming in. this is kind of nice to have a spring system to reinforce some of the good rain and snow that we've gotten over the winter season. so it looks like it's going to be beneficial rain. the highest totals will be out rainy here. so take a look at your extended forecast. spring comes in tomorrow. we actually cool it down a little bit tomorrow, getting back to kind of where we should be temperature wise and then we're going to continue that sunny run until we get to friday. we're looking out for the showers as we get into the evening and into your weekend. back to you. >> index right now. >> one person is dead. 3 others injured after a separate shooting in jacksonville beach, florida. the shootings happened last night in the downtown bar area between spring break saint patrick's day and a golf

tournament. the area was packed with people. police initially warned of an active shooter situation in place. the area on lockdown. one of the shooting started as police was ordering a crowd of young people to disperse. officers say 2 men were shot after they shot of skews me. 2 men shot at each other. and both of the men were hit. a bystander was also hit. all 3 of the victims are still alive. the 2 other shootings happened outside of bars later on in the night. one person was killed in those shootings. it's not clear if all the incidents are connected today. authorities are searching for multiple shooters. >> as a result, the response time was 0 seconds. like i said, they haven't needling attempting apprehend suspects and immediately rendered medical aid. victim's sister. >> a motive for the shootings remain unclear. and in jacksonville there some shocking video of a teenager pulling a gun on a packed

crowd of spring breakers. this is in volusia county. it started first as a fist fight but deputy body camera video shows the 16 year-old pulling out a gun and then waving at the crowd. when officers started chasing him, the teen then runs into the ocean where he surrendered after about 5 minutes. the sheriff says the teenager was carrying about 20 bags of marijuana. he was wanted on 7 warrants, including armed robbery. and he's now facing many more charges. the cdc now updating its spring break travel guidelines amid outbreak of measles surrounding what's going on across the globe. the agency is now advising travelers to consult their doctors at least 6 weeks before their trip to make sure that their vaccinations are up to date. it was previously recommended that you check in with your doctor at least a month in advance. the cdc has reported cases across 17 states. majority of those cases being with people who are unvaccinated and they become infected during international travel. still

>> in the east bay city leaders in oakland say they're stepping up their efforts to confront crime along the hegenberger corridor. kron 4 s charles clifford live for us now in oakland with the details here. good afternoon. >> good afternoon. the hegenberger corridor right behind me here. millions of people pass from the oakland airport into oakland, the east bay every year. but unfortunately, as many of us know, in recent years, this corridor has seen a lot of problems with burglary and theft and armed robberies. today the took steps to reassure the public that they're working on the problem. on monday morning, oakland mayor sheng thao along with the local police department, the california highway patrol, the alameda county sheriff's office and community leaders gather to

reassure the public, but they are working on addressing problems along the heading for a corridor. >> this is a key gateway to oakland and it's a vital element to our city's economic engine. >> the city says auto burglaries, robberies and larceny along hegenberger have actually decreased over the last year, but admit that there's still a lot of work to do to restore public confidence. the city says they are increasing the number of oakland police officers along hegenberger 7 days a week. they're also adding foot patrols and trust building officers installing security cameras and spending 2 million dollars to add safety ambassadors and private security to gas stations and other businesses along hegenberger, the california highway patrol which has occasionally deployed officers in oakland to assist opd says they will also continue to be available as needed. the chp will continue can to conduct unannounced. >> search operations alongside our law enforcement partners, agencies in high crime areas across the east bay region. >> we still have a lot of work in front of us and we will

continue to do more. this is just the beginning. >> all right, back live now. that is the very latest here in oakland, charles clifford kron. 4 news. charles, thank you. >> pre-trial proceedings have begun in the case of a 2018 fatal crash involving a tesla in mountain view. this lawsuit alleges tesla's autopilot system caused this crash. kron four's will tran has more now from san jose. the proceedings are going on right behind me at this very moment. walter wong's family is suing tesla believing that tesla misled them. >> as well as millions of consumers. but how safe their auto pilot program actually works. and nearly 6 years ago, this is march of 2018. walter was driving southbound on one on one in his tesla model x when he engaged the autopilot program, he felt so secure about it that he actually

starts to play video games on his iphone a short time after that, the car veers into a divider splits his tesla in half the injuries so horrific that wong would die a few days later. now, according to the lawsuit filed by the widow as well as the 2 minor children. >> for they claim that puto pilot program. >> failed to see the markings on the ground and actually accelerated into the divider causing long to die. they also claim that the auto pilot program was supposed to keep everyone safe to the point where played video games that tesla says the auto pilot program is not completely safe, that it minimizes the chances of getting into an accident. not completely eliminate it. they also claim that was repeatedly warned by the car to retake the car moments before the crash. but he never did.

>> and tesla has settled a multimillion-dollar racial discrimination lawsuit. this is the second settlement stemming from a lawsuit filed india's a black man who worked as an elevator operator at the company's fremont plant. diaz says his colleagues left grace's graffiti in the restrooms and regularly used racist language. a federal jury previously awarded ds 3.2 million dollars in damages. the terms of this second settlement are confidential. tesla is denying allegations of racism and says it has a track record of equal employment opportunities. judge appointed a special master to oversee the women's prison in dublin. this is all part of a lawsuit that has been filed by 8 inmates claiming abuse from some of the prison workers. this is also coming after the fbi raided the prison last week as we first reported agency's computers and documents since

2021 7 prison employees either pleaded guilty or convicted of abuse. another case is still pending. oakland police are now investigating 2 separate shootings that happened on friday night. the first happened around 10, 30 friday night and 100nd avenue not far from international boulevard and esperanza elementary school. police say they found a san francisco man shot later died at the scene. an oakland man was taken into custody for the shooting. police have not shared any details on this arrest. also, the second shooting happened just before 01:00am saturday on international boulevard on the corner of 8th avenue near clinton park officers on the scene say that they found evidence of a shooting, but they could not find a victim. police later learned a person suffering from gunshot wounds took themselves to the hospital. they had a louisville police department says more than 30 vehicles were targeted in what appears to be a car break-in spree. these thefts happened all over the city on saturday night. officers say they happened at the had a village premium outlets. saint vincent high

school capri creek apartments, the sheridan hotel. that's just to name a few of them. and the police van is now asking anyone who lives near those areas to check their home surveillance videos to see if they captured any of these incidents in real time. emergency crews responded to a crash in san francisco's pacific heights neighborhood. this is citizen app video showing us a car flipped over there on its side. this is on jackson street. not that far away from the house of prime rib san francisco. fire crews say the driver of this car also crashed into several other parked cars. they say that the driver was taken to the hospital for treatment. no word. what caused this crash to happen. and in the north bay. now, deputies in sonoma county airlifted a camper who experienced a severe medical emergency at lake over the weekend. the sonoma county sheriff's office sharing this video showing us deputies using a helicopter to rescue the campers from the

campground. first response first responders flew the patient to an awaiting air ambulance but transfer them to a local hospital. >> no word right now on the patient's condition. >> the new study out today is now naming san francisco as the number one city in the u.s. for being ev friendly. the study was done by icy car. so they found that san francisco has lots of chargers available and has improved its ev infrastructure in the bay area, including san jose and oakland. they're almost 16,000 chargers per 412 residents. that's the most in the entire country. even beating out la and san diego in california. i see cars use data from the department of energy's alternative fuels data center for this study. tahoe nordic rescues, a skier who strayed out of the bounds in the l pain. alpine meadows area, the placer county sheriff's office says the scare was stranded in the area. that's not

skies. temperatures in the 50's kind of doesn't get any better than that. and obviously we've got a really decent snow pack out there. and if you're wondering if we've got more snow on the way, the answer is, yes, we've got a spring snow event coming this weekend friday through sunday. looks like the timing later friday. it looks like into saturday snow levels are going to started like 5507,000 people are going to be dropping some cold air coming in with this enough to get some snow going and it looks like for this system it for the sierra. it's going to be about between a foot, a foot and a half of snow. that's good news. it's going to add to that snow pack in just kind of help us hang on to a little bit longer for all the warmth comes in. eventually and starts to erode that you can see where that system is going to be headed. meanwhile, back in the bay area, we've got another beautiful, sunny day going as we take a live look here half moon bay. obviously the marine layer has pushed out. so it's given us the sunshine even out at the coast. it's going to be gorgeous day out there. but just like this year has some snow. we have a little rain coming. we head towards the weekend. i'll be back in a bit. we'll talk more about that with your seven-day forecast. more trouble for

united airlines. flight leaving sfo. but this time the problem was not discovered until the plan laned landed a kron four's. >> dan thorn has the details. >> another issue for united airlines flight leaving sfo after landing at rogue valley international medford airport friday afternoon. united aircraft was found without an external panel. medford airport spokesperson says they were forced to briefly pause operations on the runway to look for any debris. none was found. this is a very minor incident in the grand scheme of things. retired commercial airline pilot doug rice says. >> the external panel is an aluminum fairing which helps smooth the air against the plane. >> making for a smoother ride. this specific boeing 7.37. is a 25 year-old aircraft. and rice says at that age metal

fatigue can set these aircraft, go through a significant amount of maintenance they should be catching these things. what we're learning now is that we have to be more aware of these things as they go through maintenance and double checking and triple checking the this latest issue for united is making some passengers feel uneasy on thursday. a flight approaching sfl had a hydraulic leak with some smoke seen by the landing gear. >> last week, a japan-bound plane lost a wheel during takeoff and had to make an emergency landing in los angeles. and on monday, a united flight bound for sfo from australia was forced to turn around because of a maintenance issue. >> i think it's a little bit the scary the fact that this keeps coming up all the sudden. and i i don't know if it's because we haven't been aware and now we are. i always said, and it's it's an immediate issue that we're dealing with. >> it's scary for people. united spokesperson says there wasn't an emergency landing in

>> official at the university of iceland said that they were prepared and that the area of the eruption was almost identical to last month's eruption. over the weekend. people in the midwest spent that some time cleaning up and assessing damage following several deadly tornadoes that happened last week. storms there tore through parts of ohio, kentucky, indiana and arkansas. one of the hardest hit areas was the indian lake section of logan county, ohio. 3 people there were killed about 40 others injured. my dad's garage was leveled. the back of his house is gone like. >> everything's gone >> just climbing over everything screaming for our dad. when i finally found and though he said soccer, >> the storm damaged dozens of homes of indiana. tornadoes also reported in parts of illinois and missouri. ky let's now take a look at what's happening with the

weather across the country right now. yeah. and we saw that set up for that. it was that we saw very warm air that it made its way up and it kind of clash with that cool air. now, you can see at least in ohio where the cooler temperatures have returned their chicago. >> spots minneapolis now just sitting in the 30's. and so now we have that chance of any severe thunderstorms is kind of move down to the south. thankfully today, looking relatively quiet so far, you can see just a little bit rolling through there in florida. but the bigger picture is that they're looking out for freeze warnings overnight and all that area you see in blue. these are special weather statement talking about the cold air tonight, too. so a little bit of a different story for them this i have to say when it covered tornadoes, national weather is my least. you know, it's such a difficult, difficult type of weather, too. both predict really specifically. and then also just to see how horrible the damages. i'm so glad we don't see a whole lot of that here in the west coast. what we are seeing, though, is a lot of high pressure that is keeping us very sunny today. some really nice skies, even the north bay, which really took a minute for you guys to
