station. this is home. news 11. now at 11, a possible freeway shooting. >> shutting down all westbound lanes of interstate 80 in the east bay. tonight. good evening. thanks for joining us on kron. 4 news at 11. i'm grant lotus and i'm noelle bellow. those lanes are now back open. and chp says the victim. >> took themselves to the hospital with a non life-threatening injury. we do want to give you a >> live look at the interstate now, as you can see the scene cleared up. the incident happened at mcbride avenue in san pablo. we will keep following this story and bring you the latest information on what exactly happened to soon as we get more our other big story tonight, the 2 suspects involved in a wrong-way crash on 5.80, today have now been identified as patrick shekels francisco. according to san 0-

police, the crash killed one person and seriously injured 3 others. police say an overnight burglary at a smoke shop in el serino is what led to a police chase. and eventually the crash. this is surveillance video from around 4.30, this morning at a tobacco outlet shopping else you see the white pickup truck smashed into the store. then 2 guys are rummaging around inside. officers were alerted. they have an alarm. they went to the store and found the suspect driving off in the truck. and that is when the chase began. officers say the chase went along westbound 80 and then the truck changed directions and started driving east on west bound 5.80, going the wrong way near the bay bridge. that is what authorities say. the truck smashed into a van and a bmw, injuring the driver of the van and killing the bmw's driver. the suspects were also injured. meanwhile, the

tobacco store owner who didn't want to go on camera says this is the 6th time his store has been robbed in recent years. and the shop may now be a total loss. >> this could be about 50,000 that damaged. so, you know, if we fix that. >> the owner says he believes the suspects. so cigarettes from the shop and cigarettes were found at the crash scene scattered all over the road. it's not clear what charges the suspects will be facing. >> officials have released the names of the 3 family members killed by a speeding suv over the weekend in san francisco. that tragic incident happened saturday in west portal as the family was waiting to catch a bus to the zoo. one year-old joaquin ramos, pinto de oliveira and his parents, 40 year-old diego cardoso de oliveira. and 38 year-old mathilde damon condo ramos. pinto were all killed. the lone survivor in this crash is

an intent to remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. tonight. meantime, the driver, 78 year-old mary folau has been arrested for vehicular manslaughter. however, formal charges from the district attorney's office are still pending. >> another big story tonight, a health warning for some people in the east bay after somebody tested positive for measles. the warning is for anyone who was at sons of liberty, ellis house in san leandro saturday night march 9th kron 4 sarah stinson reports. >> alameda county health officials put this warning out to anyone who went 2 sons of liberty alehouse on march 9th between a specific time frame saying you need to watch out for symptoms which can appear a week up to 21 days later, the health department says this warnings for people who went to this restaurant in san leandro on that saturday between 4.45 in the afternoon and 7, 30 at night. >> symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose. red eyes

and a rash that can last up to week. measles can spread when infected person breathes coughs or sneezes. since it does take time for symptoms to appear, people could start to feel them any time between the 16th to the 30th of this month. measles can be very contagious, according to the health department, one person infected with measles can infect 9 out of 10 unvaccinated people in close contact. the health department says to contact them and a doctor if you are at the restaurant during that time frame and especially if your child was exposed, if you're not vaccinated or if you're a health care or child care worker. i spoke with the owner of sons of liberty alehouse. he says the health department notified him in the afternoon before they put the alert out to the public. he says they were not able to provide proof that this person infected with measles. >> was in fact, a customer of his restaurant. he says they could not even provide a

receipt from that march 9th day. now the health department did put out in their alert about this possible exposure. a reminder for all to get vaccinated for the measles. i'm sara stinson reporting in san leandro. back to you. tonight. oakland city council approved a plan to remove abandoned cars off of city streets. >> the two-year program will focus on identifying and removing those vehicles. it would also increase funds and staff to sweep the streets. the program will also create tow yards by repurposing caltrans vacant. lots beneath the freeway overpasses, which will decrease fire risks. >> everything else. we need creative solutions. it's my understanding right now there's one tow company and one told your and that won't hold company from what i've been told by certain folks is that is not responsive is is not doing a great job. >> last year, mayor sheng thao did state the city was seeing an improvement and abandoned

coastline. think we're not going to see a whole lot of fog overnight tonight. numbers outside right now. cool off of the saint rose of 47 degrees. 49 now in napa. still 60 degrees, though, very mild in antioch for the hour. 54 degrees in san jose and 53 degrees. mostly clear in san francisco around the state are looking good. you see the clouds off the coastline. otherwise dry around the state, least most of the state today. we did have a couple pop-up showers in southern california again, but off the coastline, still a very active pacific pattern. and that is going to finally lead to a breakthrough. and one of the storm system, not the first one you see out there, but the one right behind it. that's going to be the one to bring some ratn. we'll have more on that coming up in a few minutes. lawrence, thank you. new at 11 and attempted ax murderer is in custody tonight in central marin. police received a call this morning about a person. >> with a suspicious weapon walking around industrial way and rich street in green bright police say the man with the acts. 54 year-old scott sabiel ya of petaluma had

broken into a building and attacked someone inside brave employees intervened. they pinned the suspect to the ground. the victim suffered severe facial injuries but is expected to recover. so delia was arrested and is being held on a 1 million dollar bond. police in san francisco are investigating 5 stabbings that were in the span of 8 days. the latest one. >> was this morning. and the mission, 20th street and south van ness avenue. police say a woman was stabbed multiple times in a suffering from life-threatening injuries. 2 other stabbings were also in the mission sunday and another was in the hill neighborhood. there was a stabbing march 13th in the outer mission where a suspect was arrested for killing the victim. police are still looking for the suspects in the other 4 stabbings. >> one man is dead. another in critical condition tonight after a shooting in pleasant hill. it happened around noon today in the parking lot of a condo complex on twin bridge circle near highway 6.80. police say when they got lot,

they found 2 men lying on the ground with several gunshot wounds. officers say one of the victims, a 67 year-old man died at the hospital. we spoke to a resident who heard the gunshots. >> allison is here. some what i what i was like. firecrackers sounds like a like a like a small really all gunshot. or is that like pleasant are expect that until i heard very loud cars kind of drive last also clearly, and i'm like, ok, something something went down. there are some yelling. >> both victims identities are being withheld pending contact the family members. police have not released any details on the suspect. the city of oakland could change the way police respond to alarms sunday. this proposed ordinance. >> law enforcement could only respond to the alarm if a crime has definitely been confirms, they would use a verified alarm system that

requires private alarm companies to crimes happening before officers are actually dispatched to that location. oakland police say 98% of alarms are false resulting in officers being less available for actual crimes in emergency calls. people against the idea site. other cities says examples of light should be used residents saying the practice led to rising crime rates. we reached out to oakland officials for comment on that and are still waiting to hear back. >> attorney general rob bonta's office responding today to claims made by supporters of pamela price. the district attorney's protect the wind campaign claimed bonta's office never responded to their request for an investigation into the recall effort against her bonta's office, however, says they did respond sending us a letter dated march 6th bonta's office informing prices campaign any allegations of unlawful signature gathering

tactics should be directed to the secretary of state who serves as the state's chief elections officer, a spokesperson for the price campaign says this is the first time they've seen that letter. meantime, the alameda county registrar of voters is already hand counting signatures to make sure there are enough to trigger a recall election against price. san francisco mayor london breed wants to keep the ferris wheel a fisherman's wharf. >> for 18 more months said moved from golden gate park to the city's iconic waterfront. this past november. just before a pack in right now, the ferris wheel is set to leave the pier at the end of april. but she wants it to stay. earlier today, mayor breed joined us here in studio during kron. 4 news at 3. >> it's the views the daytime the night time. so until look at the sunset. the beauty of san francisco, the water, the golden gate bridge quite tower. it's it's it's just magical.

ex-boyfriend has been identified on a gofundme page as jasmine, monique delmar pleasanton. police say they found delmar dead in her home march. 7th police say her ex-boyfriend broke into the house. the 2 had an argument. the man then shot modi delmar several times. that led to a police chase along 5.80, in san leandro where the driver later died after authorities say he shot himself. >> more ev charging stations could soon be set up around san francisco city officials announcing plans today to install curbside charging stations for electric vehicles by next year. the city is helping to install more than 5,000 by the year 2030. or cisco is committed to achieving nen-zero greenhouse gas emissions. >> by 2040, and has set an interim goal that 25% of all registered high the vehicles to be electric by 2030, to meet. this goes vital that the

city expand access to affordable and convenient charging options. that means expanding are charging network with hole workplace and public charging. >> location still need to be decided. and then the city will hear from residents in the chosen neighborhoods. city supervisors say they're hoping to get the evaluation back by june. in the meantime, tonight, sfmta board of directors presented. it's 33 recommended locations for speed cameras to be installed across the city. transit officials are looking to install those cameras in several areas, including school zones and other areas where there have been sideshows reported. mayor london breed said today the cameras will help combat crime people who might want to steal cars, car break-ins >> sideshows, all of these things, the ability to have these cameras and to pull up, for example, red corvette and to look up to see where all the red corvettes were, the time, the date, the license

plate to be able to use that information if necessary, to combat some of the problems that we're having in san francisco. it's going to be extraordinary. so i'm looking forward to it. the san francisco bicycle coalition also hopes the cameras will reduce speeds for drivers. >> and improve infrastructure. all right, taking a live look now at sfo. we're learning new details about >> japan-bound united flight that was forced to return to the gate at sfo. according to the airline, the crew of flight. 35 received indication of an engine start issue. this is before takeoff around noon yesterday after taxiing on the runway, the plane returned to the gate never took off. the aircraft was a boeing triple 7 more than 200 passengers on board. it was never grounded because it hadn't yet departed sfo when the issue was discovered. took off just before 5 o'clock in reached its destination safely. this is the 5th maintenance issue

involving united flight and sfo in just the past 2 weeks. let's get you a check of your 4 zone forecast now taking a >> live look at downtown san francisco. pretty beautiful night out. there are lights twinkling on this first night of spring. >> yeah, it's dry and clear. sunny days and lawrence is here to let us know how long dreamlike weather is going to last. yeah. hope you didn't put away your winter clothes yet. we've got some much colder weather on the way and rain likely to return to the bay area as we head in toward the latter part of the week. but we've got one more day that we're going to squeeze in. it's going to be a nice one-two around the bay area. lots of sunshine coming our way. mostly clear skies out there right now. couple patches of fog forming overnight tonight into early tomorrow morning, but not a whole lot. and then tomorrow we're off and running with mostly sunny skies in the afternoon, the one exception late today likely to see some high clouds moving in. then that rain chances on the increase as we head in toward friday. fact, look at the long-range forecast models. we look toward the next 6 to 10

days and we're talking about above normal precipitation across much of california during that period. so here we go right now, it's quiet out there. high pressure has been sitting overhead that is blocked. the jetstream well to the north and taking all the storms with it. southern california, kind of the exception here, that area of low pressure kind of spinning around to see some of those showers popping up again, almost like yesterday afternoon, but not as prevalent as what we had yesterday. still, we've got a couple storm system. we've got one approaching the coastline as we head in toward tomorrow afternoon. that's increase the clouds, but the storm weaken as it approaches. but that's going open the door. the next one. you see this storm system coming through on friday. there you go. rain picking up on as we head through the day and then showers really on and off and cold showers continuing into saturday. snow over the mountain tops too slight chance of a lingering shower early in the morning on sunday. otherwise partly cloudy skies with another storm weaker rolls through on monday and the possibility of the middle of next week. and i'm thinking even longer than that the long range models are showing. maybe we see that rain kind of sticking around
