windy day on guard and i'm james and this wednesday. enjoy it. it's going to be nice and dry. but that changes by the end of the we won't last for long. good morning, dave. well, good morning, james and ari. good morning, everybody. yeah, we got a couple of days of this. nice dry spring weather here today. tomorrow before things turn again on friday. we have some rain coming our way. it looks like it's going to trample little bit on saturday, too. but sunday is looking a little much better. so we'll get more details on that later for right now. yeah, we the fog clearing out. it looks like from half moon bay with the sunshine really opened up nicely here. so it's a nice shot that we have that might even help push those temperatures a little better. we do have some high cloudiness to make but the energy with the system remains to the north. again, that will change towards the end of the week. our current numbers are pushing more 50's on the board right now, although holding on to 48 in a fremont and up in the north bay, it's still an upper 40 story. now that does show is trailing. we were from yesterday, although catching up in the east bay, as you'll notice and right on the number there for the peninsula and in the south bay, 68, it looks like by 1 o'clock it 68 was

some locations managing to make 74 high. maybe some scattered clouds towards the end of the day. some of those bay clouds will be a little bit more aggressive for tomorrow. but what's going on with traffic? is that aggressive you know, it dave. >> now that we had of the bay bridge, that's clear, 15 minute ride traveling into the city. but meteorologist alonso still fairly busy been and where you are. san mateo bridge around. 21 minutes is down from 30. a richmond center fell bridge short of 15 there. tolls to 101 golden gate bridge around 31 minutes and getting a look at our highways across the bay area. seeing a lot of red out there. it's been a busy morning. hopefully as the day goes on, things will taper down. arias is back to you. >> thanks a lot. reyna 901. and the developing story. police are looking for a gunman who shot and killed one man and injured another in pleasant hill. kron four's will tran on the story for us from where it happened. will. >> talking to neighbors this morning. they are unsure every

time they walk out in till there is an arrest because this area is so quiet so safe for so long that when this happened, it rattled them. the shooting took place right over my left shoulder down this roadway here. this is twinned bridge circle and it's off along. brick. wait, let me show you the video. this all went down shortly before noon. 2 men were shot there, described to be in their 60's when the paramedics got here. they saw them in the middle of the roadway, rushed him to the hospital. we do know that it's 67 year-old man died from his injuries. another man fighting for his life. police officers by the time they got here, the shooter was long gone. but when he was here, according to people who live in this area, he made quite a noise. as i was walking, i saw the guy come in into the neighborhood. >> and in his car and he drug was driving pretty fast. there wasn't, you know, really fast. and then all that part the 5

minutes it around started walking back and i heard the pop again outside the guy's car. really, you know, backfires a lot. but that saw him come around and he was going fast is fast debido down down the street. he supposed to start the stuff. i did turn, but he's going so fast. kid all the way across it could reversed. came back and got out. went out that way. >> people in this area tell me that his car sounds like a muscle car and it also backfired not to mention all the shots that rang out, which is why >> he left a lot of people rattled even though he is long gone. >> the police department, they will come out here. try to get surveillance footage and there are plenty of cameras in this area to try to get footage of this shooter to pass it along to the public at this particular time. no description of who this person is. and they're not saying whether they know or not,

sometimes to keep a lot information to themselves right now. they're not saying whether this is random or targeted. >> it's 904. and happening now, a roadway in fairfield is closed for an ongoing investigation. the portion of travis boulevard that you see there between second street mopping road is shut down. you are advised to avoid that area as the police investigate. >> another big story that we're following this morning. a health warning now for customers of an east bay restaurant. you may have been exposed to the measles earlier this month on for sara stinson takes a look at where this happened. >> alameda county health officials put this warning out to anyone who went 2 sons of liberty alehouse on march 9th between a specific time frame saying you need to watch out for symptoms which can appear a week up to 21 days later, the health department says this warnings for people who went to this restaurant in san

leandro on that saturday between 4.45 in the afternoon and 7, 30 at night. >> symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose. red eyes and a rash that can last up to week. measles can spread when infected person breathes coughs or sneezes. since it does take time for symptoms to appear, people could start to feel them anytime between the 16th to the 30th of this month. measles can be very contagious, according to the health department, one person infected with measles can infect 9 out of 10 unvaccinated people in close contact. the health department says to contact them and a doctor if you are at the restaurant during that time frame and especially if your child was exposed, if you're not vaccinated or if you're a health care or child care worker. i spoke with the owner of sons of liberty alehouse. he says the health department notified him in the afternoon before they put the alert out to the public. he says they

were not able to provide proof that this person infected with measles. >> was in fact, a customer of his restaurant. he says they could not even provide a receipt from that march 9th day. now the health department did put out in their alert about this possible exposure. a reminder for all to get vaccinated for the measles. i'm sara stinson reporting in san leandro. back to you. >> it's 906, and regional park district in the east bay. they are reporting an uptick in toxic. billy. a blue green algae blooms at various parks. and what adds to this? well, low water levels be part of it, limited water circulation and then increase in temperature and light. that can all cause blue. green algae to bloom and release toxins and the algae blooms should not. they say impact drinking water plants. they test the water regulator ensure that there's no impact on the water from the reservoirs. danger advisories, though they're posted at cory lakes, delve al and shadow

cliffs. >> well, developing news, a possible freeway shooting shut down all westbound lanes of interstate 80 for a time last night. can see here in the video what it was like. the chp says the victim took themselves to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. this incident happened at mcbride avenue in san pablo. we'll keep following this story and we'll have more information for you as we get it. so stay tuned. in the meantime, in the south bay, at least one person is dead after a car struck a pedestrian on highway 101. it happened at about 9 o'clock last night. the roadway between the oakland road off-ramp and mckee was closed for a few hours, although that has since reopened. >> attorney general rob bonta's office responded to claims made by supporters of alameda county district attorney pamela price. the da's protect the wind campaign said that bonta's office never responded to their request for an investigation into the recall effort. however, beyond his office says, yes, they did respond. in fact, they sent us a letter dated march 6 and

they say in the letter they inform prices campaign any allegations of unlawful signature gathering tactics should be directed to the secretary of state who serves as the chief elections officer for the state. a spokesperson for prices campaign, though, says this is the first time they've ever seen that letter. meantime, the alameda county registrar of voters is continue to hand count tens of thousands of signatures to verify if there are enough to trigger a recall election. >> okay. to san francisco now where the board of supervisors has approved a program to help homeless individuals return to their hometown. and they say that it will and in of that at answer, i should to the homeless crisis in the city. the question is, though, that people want to leave the city. michael thomas is live in san francisco and you've been talking to some homeless people about this. one of a thing. >> yeah, good morning, everyone. essentially they say they do think that it could be good, but they also say there's a lot of leading

factors to why people are on the street. so let me break it all down. we've got video up on your screen now. this ordinance that was just passed, it was originating back from 2005 and that one was that was when governor gavin newsom served as the city's mayor and the program provides homeless individuals in both the city and county of san francisco with travel and relocation assistance. having an end goal of cleaning the streets of san francisco but also allowing unhoused people the chance to go back to their home towns and reunite with family. now we did speak with to have unhous d individuals this morning who say it's not necessarily the case of them getting home. there's other leading factors. take a listen to their thoughts. people need to. >> the much more nicer to people that. at it. i don't think it worked. cause if they knew how? >> excuse my language, the their sons and daughters are out here. the high spending on day. we probably want to home.

>> now this was reintroduced by supervisor ahsha safa who says in recent years the program only assisted a few 100 people while years ago. it is just around 11,000 people, which is why he proposed. we bring these changes back and get this program back in use. he also adds that those choosing to participate oftentimes live within the state and only cost the city around less than $200 over the law, adding that it will help save the city's overall social service cost. now back out here live, we did reach out to the supervisor he supposed to come and chat with us within the next 30 minutes or so. so hopefully at 10 o'clock you'll be able to hear his response regarding what those homeless individuals had to say. ultimately saying that there's a drug problem on the street. there are other factors leading up to the issue of them being homeless and not just sending them back home by this morning in san francisco, michael thomas started send it back to you. okay, michael, thank you very much. it's 9.11 and still ahead on the kron 4 morning news, oakland approved a plan to get abandoned cars off the streets. will take a look at weather.

was allegedly involved in several burglaries in san carlos. he would apparently entered the lobby or mail room up hopper complex and steal packages and other items. investigators then tied the burglaries to others reported in redwood city and san carlos. the suspect was arrested now faces multiple counts of burglary. in the east bay man accused of murdering his wife and mother-in-law appeared in court tuesday as detectives continue searching for the victims remains fuchs. vo was first identified as a person of interest. one san pablo police say that vo told them his wife and mother-in-law were missing in september. 3 months later, he was spotted driving his wife's missing car in oakland. police say they feel they have enough evidence. now they believe that vo had direct involvement in the disappearance and murders. he remains at the martinez jail. >> it's 9.26. insistence city police are investigating a shooting that happened late last night or multiple gunshots. was around 9 o'clock near campus back drive. and

berkeley response to incidents of reported anti-semitism or examples of situations jewish students say they do not feel safe. >> this was scene last month when protesters disrupted an event where a former member of the israel defense forces was set to speak. protesters broke through doors to students say they were assault. that congressional committee is not just talking to uc berkeley. it is now on a list that includes harvard, columbia and mit. >> and they're serving subpoenas. ducas take comes for documents on universities all over the united states and asking various universities to turn over anything and everything regarding any sort and so activities look at our universities, engaging in anti-semitism in 2024. when the university administration

doesn't enforce policy, that results in a hostile unsafe island campus regions. >> the house education committee says there are what it calls grave concerns about the in adequacy of the uc berkeley response to anti-semitism and referred to a failure to protect jewish students. and if that's what the investigation shows, that's awful. >> i mean, that's terrible. that any student wouldn't be protected by virtue of their religious affiliation. whether you're catholic or baptist or hindu or buddhist or muslim, that's america. >> uc berkeley says in a statement it is committed to confronting antisemitism and plans to release a comprehensive report on the committee's questions. >> in the south bay, a preliminary hearing has started in the case of what police say was an exorcism like ritual that ended with the death. a 3 year-old girl.

and here are the 3 that are accused of the girl's murder, her mother, her uncle and her grandfather. prosecutors say they performed a horrifying exorcism on are in san jose back in 2021, the cause of death of the girl was listed as suffocation. the preliminary hearing should last they think through next tuesday and then the judge will decide if there's enough evidence to bring the case to trial. in the south bay. a police standoff in campbell and id with a man dead. >> it happened yesterday morning. a woman texted about a domestic violence incident and she said that her children were in the home when this was going on. the suspect was identified as 31 year-old miguel gomez officers tried to talk to him and then he said they say that he took a shot at them. one officer fired back, killing him. the santa clara county da's office is now investigating >> one person is in custody after leading police on a multi county chase after an alleged robbery at a macy's store in marin county. this

all happened monday. again, that macy store was in corte madera. that's the first indicator that you see there. number one, the people we're told by police apparently punched a security guard in the face. and then that suspect got into a car and took off. the car was later seen in larkspur but then got away. then police received a welfare check reported san anselmo, a person matching the robbery suspect was apparently going around asking residents for a change of clothes. and if they could pay for an uber ride for him, police tempted to detain him. but he again took off san and several police then were notified that a house was broken into and a car stolen. that car was later seen in fairfax. police pursued it into sandra fell where it was abandoned. that car, though, was tracked to san pablo where richard contraer us was arrested and he along with 2 others now have been booked into the marion county jail. >> it's 9 35 and in east bay, thanks to license plate readers and store security cameras. alameda city police

recovered 3 stolen vehicles. the first happened. it was a car that was swiped at a target at a license plate reader alerted the police. they looked at security footage identify the suspect and arrested them. this same thing happened when they recovered a vehicle at a kohl's and then a 3rd vehicle was recovered. it was stolen from a walgreens. the alameda police say that their partnership with retail stores and technology has really helped them to recover. a lot of vehicles and things that i have been stolen from the area stores. >> now to another big story that we've been following out of san francisco where we now know the names of the 3 family members killed by a speeding suv while they were waiting at a bus stop. the victims include one year-old joaquin ramos, pinto de oliveira and his parents, 40 year-old diego, all of live era and 38 year-old matilda pinto. the 3 of them died. the lone survivor was their 3 month-old infant son who is currently in

the hospital with life-threatening injuries. the driver has been identified 78 year-old mary fong, lau and formal charges from the district attorney's office are still pending, but we did speak with criminal defense attorney michael cardoza. he went over several scenarios. he says if loud was perhaps under the influence of drugs or alcohol. well, that could lead to a criminal charge of involuntary manslaughter. >> a lot of people think, oh, i'm just taking my medications for stride. but doctor, for example, norco somebody takes in norco i could write my docto prescribe that. no, you can't. that's against the law. the law doesn't care whether it's a prescription drug or an illegal drug. if you're under the influence. >> again, michael, just speculating. we don't know yet from police, whether she was under the influence of anything he said on the other hand, if it was a mechanical problem, let's say with the car that might suggest this was simply an accident and there would be no criminal charges. but then again, if she was confused with the gas pedal and the brake pedal and

now after they hired a local restoration company to do some repair work on their home. and now, unfortunately, looks like that homes been burglarized. stephen norman and his wife, yolanda. you see here say that water damage forced them to move out of their house last september. and this is some of the video that damage they contracted to repair company called zebra restoration to do the work, which at the time they told him to take only 4 to 8 weeks. well, the couple says it's now been more than 6 months. they're still unable to get into their home. steven says he was diagnosed with stomach cancer this past november. and at this point, they just want to get back into their house. >> but i was diagnosed in november. we told that. ben diagnosed and we just needed to get back air. let's i'm and >> the new superintendent is that please? may get them moving faster because steve needs is a bad. >> well, the problems only got worse for the couple along to
