public safety committee with a vote of 5 to 0. it now goes to the senate appropriations committee for a vote. and senator wiener expects that vote to happen sometime in may reporting live in san francisco. i'm rob nesbitt kron. 4 news. rob, thank you. >> happening now, san jose police are attempting to arrest a person refusing to come out of their apartment. theirs. heavy police presence at near the intersection at 7th street. and julian street officers saying they're attempting to negotiate a peaceful resolution here. we do have a crew headed down that way. we're going to bring you an update as soon as we learn more information. >> 2 people are under arrest in connection to a shooting that took place in a safeway parking lot in american canyon. one of the suspects in last night's shooting is 18 year-old christian evans. the other suspect is a minor. police say it happened after an argument escalated into gunfire. 3 people were injured. there is no word on their condition. police in san leandro are investigating a shooting that left a person

dead. this is video driving by the scene from the citizen app. it happened yesterday early evening in the area of his sperry and boulevard and colby street near the bayfair bart station. police found a man with a gunshot wound. he died at the scene. police have not released any info about a possible suspect or motive. >> mounting public pressure has prompted a television network to bring back a documentary about the killing of an east bay woman. alexis, gabe was murdered more than 2 years ago. investigation discovery originally plans to air a documentary about disappearance this month. but later said the documentary would be delayed for another season. kron four's philippe djegal reports. gabe's father says public outcries what forced the producers to then change course. >> when game says he and his family are grateful for the overwhelming support they receive from the community. >> as they live their daily lives. but the pain from his late daughter, alexis, gabe's gruesome murder. >> is always present. were

still struggling. i mean, it's not something that you easily good and just move on. you know that pain accentuated in recent weeks when a producer with the investigation discovery series on the case with pows on. >> first notified the games that the documentary they took part in last detailing alexis's case was set to air at the end of april. only to be told soon after that, the episode had been tabled and would instead air the following season, the games announced their disappointment to the more than 16,000 members of the justice. for alexis, gabe, facebook page. the group flooded investigation, discovery with stern comments and >> thursday, last week, this one i received a phone call for episode a producer. saying that the decided to pair episode april. 24, which is the season finale of a season.

>> aiding and abetting. there was evidence for sure. and we're hoping the documentary reveals all about where is alexis is slated to air april 24th at 7 o'clock at night on investigation. discovery. >> and will be available on several streaming services. philippe djegal all kron. 4 news. >> nearly 4,000 nurses in santa clara county took to the picket lines today demanding higher pay. today was the first of what will be a three-day strike for these workers. the county is currently offering a 10 and a half percent pay increase over the next 3 years. the nurses are asking for 15%, but they say the money is not the only obstacle to a new agreement. that last mediators proposal wasn't voted down by the membership because of the money. it was voted down because the county wants to be able to send us to different

hospitals. and we believe that's unsafe for nurses and unsafe for our patients that despite the labor action. >> our hospitals and clinics remain open. >> and we are continuing to be able to provide all emergent and critical services to the community, including our level one trauma center at valley medical center. >> county officials say nearly 1000 traveling nurses have been brought in to work shifts during this three-day strike. san jose police have arrested for people who may be linked to nearly $400,000 in stolen items. >> taken from storage units. police say the 4 suspects have been linked to at least 3 storage facility break-ins since late december. these are photos of some of the stolen property that's been recovered. investigators served search warrants at the suspect's homes and they say they found several musical instruments and other property valued at about $60,000. the 4 been booked into the santa clara county main jail a 20 foot better reading, jus say

area. certainly another nice day today. we have a couple patches of fog. >> along the coastline, you kind of see that in the distance there out over the bay toward the coast. some of he's out there on the horizon as we've got some fog to form. but temperatures very nice look outside right now. it is. 75 degrees. beautiful in concord. 71 and hayward. how about redwood city right now? 77 degrees. 75 in san jose and a comfortable 72 degrees in nevada. cooler, of course, along the coastline of some of that patchy fog. overall, though, the al looking good so far, scan your skies. doppler radar. no rain out there right now. you can see the clouds and the fog hovering just off the coastline and the white capped mountains. all that snow in the sierra and getting ready for more snow on the way. big picture. yeah, it's all about to change out to a huge ridge of high pressure that is moving out of town and you can see in the gulf of alaska still very active out there. so we've got some storm clouds headed our way likely to be a major chain, maybe some record cold as we get into thursday and friday. maybe some snow on our local mountains. that's how cold we're talking. temperatures

>> welcome back. the a's days of playing at the coliseum, maybe more numbered than you think. the team has rejected a proposal from the city of oakland to extend their lease while they wait for their las vegas ballpark to be completed. now, some baseball experts say it is becoming more possible. the a's.

>> might just go to sacramento for 3 years while vegas is being built. kron four's. dan kerman is live in the studio tonight with more. dan, they need to play somewhere. they do. you know, this offer from the city was done. we are told without any consultation with the county of alameda. that's odd. number one. and now the a's have not only rejected, but have made no commitment to continue negotiations. the oakland a's have rejected the city of oakland's proposal to extend its lease at the coliseum for up to 5 years. >> the proposal would have required the a's to pay the city 97 million dollars. john fisher isn't going to pay that money. former a's executive andy do lunch isn't surprised, especially since the deal also called for the a's to give up their 50% ownership in the coliseum. if i'm an owner of the team. >> i'm going to hold onto that till i'm literally putting the side los vegas because you never know in today's world what could happen in outside

forces. so why do i give up this incredible bargaining point now? and i don't need to. in a statement said we appreciate oakland's engagement and also. >> we are far apart on the terms needed to agree on an extension. kron 4 followed up by asking, are you committed to continuing negotiations or are you moving on and focusing on the minor league ballparks in salt lake city and sacramento? the a's simply responded. we have no additional meeting scheduled with the city of oakland at this time. could it be 3 strikes and you're out? it could be. do lutz thinks the a's lack of commitment to future meetings could be a negotiating ploy. but more likely thanks. the a's are ready to pack up their bats and and moved to sacramento's minor league field for 3 years. sacramento is a place that they can claw. some of the tv revenue. >> that is probably being negotiated we speak. more importantly, do it says

airport's global visibility to travelers. since many tourists who want to visit the bay may not even be aware of the airport's proximity to san francisco. we heard from an east bay resident about the possible change. >> i think they should keep it yeah, it's located oakland point. i think i think it is incomplete because people outside of open don't know the various times also the period don't know too much was keep it open. >> this is one of those stories. people are talking. oakland commissioners are set to consider the name change at board meeting. that is coming up later this month. >> some good news for california as we head into the spring and summer months, new measurements show the state's snowpack is above average for this time of year. our capitol correspondent eytan wallace was in the northern sierra where governor newsom took part in today's snow survey. >> well, take a look at all of this snow at elevations, 6800

feet. it's a site. governor gavin newsom says he wants to but he makes clear californians should not get complacent. >> governor gavin newsom walking in snow shoes as he took part in the california department of water resources. monthly snow survey at the phillips station just south of lake tahoe. haha survey results of the phillips station showing the snow depth. there stands at 64 inches and snow, water content that 27 and a half inches. that's significant because the depth of the snow tells us how deep it is. well, the snow water content tells us how much water it contains. all of us helping researchers determined the phillips station snowpack stands at 113% of average for this time of year. well, the state snowpack stands at 110%. you can take a deep breath this year, but don't quadruple. at a time in your shower, newsom says that note in california has recently gone to extremes on all fronts from floods to fires to droughts referencing this moment just 9 years ago this week when then governor

jerry brown stood at the same exact spot at the phillips station to show it was totally dry at the time. no snow. we're here. 9 years later, reconciling the extremes as it relates the hots getting a lot hotter. the dry is getting a lot drier and the wets getting a lot wetter. and that requires us to have the sophistication, the approach that includes new strategies, new strategies he's unveiling for the first time in this 5 year water plan for the state. he says the plan includes a goal to connect more natural waterways with manmade storage. all in hopes of capturing more water before it goes to the ocean. one of the hallmarks of this plan is the integration. the connection between built infrastructure and natural infrastructure, department of water resources. director karla nemeth stressing underground storage is also major component of the really need to have good quality, clean water. >> in there so we can bring that water up and help california through those dry periods. while the governor expedited construction for the sites reservoir north of sacramento, california's first

a very cold storm system that's going to be dropping in. so. >> the snow levels may be down to 2500 feet. can you believe that in april? that is amazing. and there's more snow that's going to be coming across the peaks. a beautiful look outside right now. incline village looking out toward lake tahoe. look how calm it is out there right now. that is going to change to the winds are going to be weapon as we head into this next s ormy weather system right now. it is open and clear. you're looking good. 15 atc. the snow over the tops the mountains right now plenty more on the way. in fact, the national weather services issued a winter weather advisory that is going to be on tell 11 o'clock on wednesday and we're going to see the change coming our way as we're going to see the storm clouds rolling in and more stormy weather on the way. in fact, a lot of snow on the horizon. look at the temperatures. they're going go from 50's tomorrow and then we get the snow on thursday and friday down in the 30's below freezing. it is going to be an extremely cold storm for this time of year. maybe record cold. all right. here's a look at the snowfall across the sierra for the entire state,

northern sierra nevada, 124% of normal. the central sierra nevada 107% normal. and now 100% normal, even in the southern sierra nevada, tremendous amount of water up there in the high country. and that is great news as we head toward those dry summer months. alright, forecast models showing that snow level beginning to move in even northern california. get the lake county likely to see some snow there as well. it is going to continue as we head in toward friday, a weekend kind of scattered snow showers even into sunday. that looks like finally drying out more skiing in the next week. guys, back to you. sounds good. thanks, lord. still ahead, costco is adding another costco is adding another service for its members.
