even those skies this morning, our overall pretty clear in a little bit clearer than they were yesterday. as far as fog goes, take a look at all this sitting to the north and west of us. a big low pressure area centered up in the gulf of alaska. this is an unseasonably cold storm. it's going to die of our direction over the next 24 hours here. really cooling us off even further into tomorrow, possibly resulting in some record cold temperatures for parts of the region and resulting in some really low snowfall honor hillsides and some cold rainfall arriving tomorrow morning for the bay area today is still going to stay dry, but we're starting to feel that cooler were working from what was such a warm and sunny last few days to what is going to be the return of some wintry weather for a lot of areas. 40's to 50's for current temperatures petaluma and nevada. we chat 52 santa rosa and conquered at 50 while dublin livermore. each at 49 degrees later on today. we will still be looking at low 60's for your daytime highs. we're certainly not bottoming out yet. we're

still looking at temperatures that are fairly mild and seasonable. but after this, we get cooler and cooler into the start of the weekend. all the breaking down the rain and the cool all still to come. road wise this morning, things out there still working looking. all right. we're looking at the bay bridge right here. 8 minutes to make your crossing in. nothing holding you up. san mateo bridge, 13 minutes right now. that's the limit about as fast as you can get. the richmond center fell at 8 minutes and pretty fog free. while the golden gate bridge looking at 24 minutes from nevado down through the toll plaza all right, john, thank you for that. and we're following the latest with the a's. so the team might be saying goodbye. >> to the oakland coliseum a lot sooner than we thought yesterday. the team rejected a proposal from the city of oakland to extend their lease while they wait for the las vegas ballpark to be finished. well, thursday kerman has that story. >> sacramento in my opinion, he's going to be the location that the a's will select former a's executive andy

dolan says it's becoming more and more likely the a's will abandon their effort. >> to extend their lease at the coliseum after this season and play the next 3 years at a minor league ballpark in sacramento on tuesday, the 8th rejected the city of oakland's proposal to extend its lease at the coliseum for up to 5 years. that proposal would have required the a's to pay the city. 97 million dollars. john fisher isn't going to pay that money. dolan says the real deal breaker for the a's is that provision they give up their 50% ownership in the coliseum. if i'm an owner of the team. >> i'm going to hold onto that till i'm literally putting aside in los vegas because you never know in today's world what could happen in outside forces. so why do i give up this incredib bargaining point now? and i don't need to. in atament said we engagement and also. >> we are far apart onhe terms needed to agree on an

extension. kron foowed up by asking, are you committed to continuing negoatns or are you moving d focusing on the minor league ballparks in salt lake city d sacramento? the a's simply responded. we have no additional meeting scheduled with the city of oakland at this time. could it be 3 strikes and you're out? >> it could be. >> dolans thinks the a's lack of commitment to future meetings could be a negotiating ploy. but more likely he thinks it's because the a's will move to sacramento until their vegas ballpark is ready. >> sacramento is a place that they can claw. some of the tv revenue that is probably being negotiated we speak. >> dolan says a's fans successful efforts to boycott the games has become an embarrassment to the team and leaving will allow the a's. and owner john fisher to avoid playing in an empty stadium. >> what a terrible visual for major league baseball to see a

once-proud franchise with nobody attending the games. >> in a statement, oakland mayor sheng thao says oakland made a fair and reasonable offer to the oakland a's and they look forward to continuing discussions as necessary. dan kerman kron, 4 news. >> all of the south bay, nearly 4,000 santa clara county nurses on the picket lines as they go on a three-day strike. this is the scene right outside of the santa clara county health center, san jose yesterday counties currently offering a 10 and a half percent pay increase over the next 3 years. the nurses are asking for 15%. they say that money is not the only obstacle to a new agreement. >> last mediators proposal wasn't voted down by the membership because of the money. it was voted down because the county wants to be able to send us to different hospitals. and we believe that's unsafe for nurses and unsafe for our patients that despite the labor action, our

hospitals and clinics remain open. >> and we are continuing to be able to provide all emergent and critical services to the community, including our level one trauma center at valley medical center. >> county officials say nearly 1000 traveling nurses of it brought in to work shifts during this three-day strike. y of walnut creek is moving forward with another restriction outside of planned parenthood city council unanimously passed a ban on the use of sound amplifiers. however, sarah stinson has the latest from the heat council meeting. >> at the planned parenthood on oakland boulevard in walnut creek, demonstrators against abortion can be seen using megaphones an effort to speak with patients. walnut creek city council approved an ordinance tuesday night. restricting sound amplifiers within 100 feet of the clinic doorway. the assistant city attorney gave a presentation

about why a noise restriction is so needed. ali, wolf cited a letter sent to the city by planned parenthood between april of 2022 and april of 2023. they documented 138 incidences with protesters. >> at the planned parenthood facility of which megaphones was mention. 42 times, many planned parenthood volunteers spoke at the meeting explaining how the noise affects patients seeking care on a daily basis regularly. protesters come with these megaphones and microphones to verbally harassed staff and patients allows them to call the murderers. it allows them. >> to target people that are inherently fragile at a time that is very, very difficult for them was so loud. i could hear it inside the health center with the door closed. well, clinic volunteers described the protesters as hostile. >> sophia martin with love life, a sidewalk outreach ministry group says they use

sound amplifiers because the buffer zone makes it hard to connect with patients and offer their resources. they have clinic escorts. >> that as soon as the moms tend to planned parenthood, they're in their air. they're trying to interfere with us, exercising our first amendment rights and reaching out to the moms to offer the help and hope that we can provide a mom name. lily attended the meeting to advocate for love life. if it wasn't for me, meaning that the sidewalk counselors that day, no, i probably wouldn't have chose life for but wolf says this ordinance would help protect the health of patients inside the clinic as the loud megaphones can cause negative effects. city council will have a second reading for this ordinance at their next meeting on april. 16th. >> because the final approval, then it will go into effect 30 days later. i'm sara stinson reporting in walnut creek.g back to you. >> well, at last night's meeting, there was a strong call for inclusion by

religious leaders. they were responding to recent incidents of people making anti-semitic comments at a walnut creek city council meeting. one pastor point out, some of those people call themselves, quote, christians. >> believe this to be a gross misrepresentation of the christian message and of the trail of christian virtues, the cheapest of ways is love. the presbyterian church rejects antisemitism in all of its forms and deplores the rise of anti-semitism in our nation and our world today. >> well, the city council at 2 incidents of a speaker making anti-semitic comments at the meetings, although disturbing the council can't legally block such comments without infringing on free speech. 18 year-old man and a minor. they've been arrested in connection to a shooting, injured 3 people at a safeway parking lot. it all happened monday evening in american canyon. investigators say an argument escalated into gunfire. no word on the condition this morning of the 3 people were shot. both

suspects are facing multiple charges, including attempted murder. hopefully since atlanta are investigating a shooting that killed a man. so this is at video shows the scene monday evening after police arrived in the area of pierre boulevard and colby street right near the bay for bart station. police have not released any information about a possible suspect or a motive. san francisco's medical examiner has released the identity of that 17 year-old shot and killed by 2 other teens at a bart station. >> he's been identified as jordan. the ready. 2.16, year-olds have been arrested in connection with his death. the powell street station. so witnesses reported seeing 2 young men running after hearing what sounded like fireworks the san francisco board of supervisors voted unanimously to approve legislation. now that actually streamlined installation of automated speed cameras. last week, mayor london breed set out her transportation vision,

oakland is cleaning up after a burglary. 2 people broke into a restaurant on east 12th street yesterday morning. police did not tell us what was taken. it say the suspect damage the front door. >> person set themselves on fire ar0th avenue and van street in oakland yesterday afternoon. welcome. police say the person is in critical condition. officers did not provide more details. they're asking anybody with any information to give them. students from petaluma high school has to be evacuated after a naked woman covered in blood walked into the school's gym woman appeared to b mental crisis. police said she had cuts to her body number life threatening. she was taken to a local hospital. police arrest. 4 people they say is likely linked to theft nearly $400,000 worth of stolen items taken from a storage unit. suspects have been linked to other break-in since late december. all 4 were booked santa clara and santa clara county jail. okay. a small earthquake hit the

north bay last night. >> so the epicenter of the 3.2 quake right near santa rosa. thankfully, no damage reported. a lot of people called in. all right. well, before you head out today, you need to know how to dress how the weather is going to fare. >> a little cooler than yesterday, still a nice day, john. good morning. yeah, definitely a nice one still, but we're kind of back to that cooler feel that we had been familiar with. no more that sunshine in the 70's in this forecast. you're looking outside this morning from san francisco is a little bit of a low gray hanging out up above us. today is going to be a mostly cloudy one. a little bit more overcast. and we've gotten used to certainly a little bit cooler as well. right now there's that cold front sitting to the north of us. that's going to cool us down even further as we work our way into tomorrow with round of rainfall arriving during morning hours on your winds are your thursday tomorrow. today, on the other hand, does stay dry as you can see, future cast shows are dry skies today, just some

lasting through 11:00pm on friday. we are yet again talking multiple feet of snowfall up in the sierra, especially right around mammoth lakes, yosemite national park that couple feet, even 3 feet of it. if you're heading up to donner summit, expect as much as a foot of snowfall and this is going to be cold enough that we'll still see some snow on the foot hills right here in the bay area, too. so definitely an active forecast ahead of us as we end the week. temperatures today in the low mid to just a few upper 60's. that is definitely cooler than we have been tomorrow and friday only expecting upper 50's for your daytime highs. we stay cool through the weekend as well. we'll eventually warm back up to those 60's and 70's by next monday and tuesday. but not before this resurgence of wintry weather. as for your roads right now in the easy commute, don't expect so easy conditions tomorrow, though, as tomorrow will be the day that we do see those showers pushing in during your morning

commute. so today looks nice and dry. enjoy it. anticipate what might be a little bit of a busy one. i think a few people might want to be working closer to home tomorrow, right? all right, john, thank you for that. well, the san francisco board of supervisors agreed to oppose a name change. >> to the oakland airport. so over an airport officials, they want to change the name from metropolitan oakland international airport, too. san francisco bay oakland international airport. state officials don't like the air oakland airport wants to include san francisco in its name saying in my confused travelers cause the financial burden for sfo. but oakland says the name change could help boost imports global visibility to travelers. some people don't see a point. >> i think they should keep it yeah, it's playing when i like i think it is incomplete because people outside of oakland don't know the various times also the period don't know. simmons was keeping >> oakland commissioners are

>> all in the north bay, the vallejo police department. they need your help trying to find this man. so police say he broke into a business easter morning and sexually assaulted a woman who's there at the time. the state having on georgia street, according to police, the victim did not know the suspect and is not connected in any way. and in the east bay, a person, rabbi, someone on a bicycle in berkeley on tuesday night, according to police, a man was walking in the area of dana street channing way around 07:30pm, when he was grabbed from behind by the thief. the victim thought that he felt a gun at his back, but he didn't see it. they even took the man's property and fled on channing way on a bicycle. if you have any information or you know about any similar incidents, you're asked to contact the university of california police department. costco. they're expanding into the weight loss management

>> welcome back to the kron. 4 morning news going on 5.30, here that a little switch in the gears in terms of the forecast past few days have been so great job in outside every day morning. yes, and i'm glad you did rain and because taking advantage of the weather that we had earlier this week definitely came in handy now that we're going to be looking at a cooler forecast. >> and tomorrow and friday, a weather forecast just around the corner where we're sitting right now. you can see outside from the east bay hills, a little bit of cloud cover up above us. today is going to be a mostly cloudy one compared to the past few days. a noticeable change already. just there, but also a cooler one and eventually all that rain that you're seeing to our north right there up in washington, oregon, part of this low pressure system centered up off the coast of alaska is going to dive down our direction along with it. it's going to funnel in some much, much cooler air our way.

in fact, much unseasonably cooler air than what we've been seeing. so expect that return to winter and don't put the jackets away just yet. right now we're sitting in the upper 40's to low to mid 50's could use the jackets this morning actually, you'll keep in mind the next few days, though, as temperatures this afternoon will still rise into the 60's. tomorrow starts a trend of 50's and rainfall. as for your roads right now, things out there just fine. not looking at any backups under bridges, bay bridge right now at 10 minutes to get you across right now at the san mateo bridge, about 12 minutes to make your crossing for the richmond. sandra fell where 8 minutes to get across and no rain just yet at the golden gate. expect that tomorrow morning, though, for the commutes right now. all right, john, thank you for that. we've got some developing news for your time long recovering this morning. >> after was hit by a powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake. it was the strongest earthquake there in about 25 years. it happened yesterday right near coast. 9 people have died and more than 930 people injured.

and this morning survivors of the earthquake are going to be arriving here in the bay area. proffers will tran is live at sfo with the latest. this is just very awful to hear this morning. well. >> arriving as 6.40, this morning and we hope to interview them. it's incredible that they were even able to take off with minimal damage to the airport. let's show you more images coming out of taiwan. it hit around 8 o'clock local time and a town. but north east the in the sand, the island of taiwan in the northeast area 300,000. so not a major center there. 23 million people who live in taiwan. obviously it's a major international city expect especially with products coming and going. it is a major player. but in that particular town, not so many people but search and rescue efforts continuing this morning. as you mentioned, so many people still trapped

inside buildings as many as 900. so the number of fatalities should go up. unfortunately, as that rescuers will go through all of that debris and then the flights are starting to come into united states. san francisco being the gateway to the pacific. we do expect them to arrive in a little bit more than one hour from now. in the meantime, we did reach out 2 i news agency in taiwan. here is their account of what happened. >> some of my you know, they they work or live on the upper levels. they it was shaking really hard. you know, i think everybody kept saying, you know, they haven't felt anything like this their lives, if you know, recent memory. you know, so far, i no one has had a number you know, major earthquakes. and so i think every time that's happened, people do take precautions seriously.

>> and it is far from over because immediately after that earthquake, many aftershocks were felt a strong as 6.5. so as they continue to look for people, hopefully many survivors. i do know that after the earthquake, a tsunami warning was triggered not just in taiwan, but also japan and china. fortunately, no major tsunami. so they have canceled the warnings. we hope to interview some of the survivors, as you mentioned in about one hour from now. >> some of those images like an unbelievable scene here. thank for that. >> well, another business in oakland cleaning up after a burglary happened. so oakland police say 2 people broke into a restaurant on east 12th street just before 5 yesterday morning. so police didn't tell us exactly what was taken, but they say the suspects damaged the front door. and a pretty horrifying discovery oakland personnel, critical condition after police found them set on fire. this is around 2

yesterday afternoon at 45th avenue in bonn in oakland. officers did not provide any more details and they say if you have any information to give them a call. a major cleanup happening oakland. cruz partially cleared away a long time homeless encampment on the drive right near the oakland airport yesterday. so a collection of rv's cars and tents first began setting up there more than 3 years ago. zahn says a regional water board recently issued a letter to the city stating that the encampment was contaminating the nearby creek based on testing. situation was just getting worse. heard from the water board last week was the basically the conditions are not acceptable for the health and safety standpoint and that the city was as the responsible party for our essential infrastructure. >> responsible for making sure that we're keeping the the affluent and other materials that come out of encampments out of the waterway. >> well, crews will submit new samples to the water board if the situation is not bought into compliance, could face fines as high as $10,000.
