morning news. newly released body camera video shows the moments before pacifica police shoot a mother who was attacking her own son. and now that the a's are heading to sacramento, many are wondering what's going to happen to the coliseum will take a look. and it's time for baseball at oracle park, the home opener for the giants were lived there with the latest. >> from the area's local news station. you're watching the kron. 4 morning news good morning. thank you for joining us at 08:00am. i'm james fletcher and i'm reyna harvey in for darya folsom on a sunny friday. >> really happy. we don't have a repeat yesterday glad that it's friday, john, glad that it's sunny and dry as well.

good morning. yeah. for most of us, it is going to stay dry today. not ruling out an isolated shower here or there and especially for inland areas. >> chance of a thunderstorm later on today. we're we're sitting at the embarcadero, though. what a change from yesterday. love to see that sunshine. we're still seeing snowfall up in the sierra as well as some pretty good snow still falling above morgan hill and san jose in the diablo is just east of there. mount diablo itself also still seeing some light snow this morning. we'll continue to see mostly sunny skies for the day, but we will see that opportunity for some mid afternoon showers from oakland down through fremont in late afternoon. thunderstorms for the inland portions of the bay area. so keep your eyes on that. temperatures are mostly in the 40's right now. berkeley sitting at 40 degrees while valais in santa rosa down at 39 degrees right now. very frigid. start to this day later on today. still going to stay cool. but back into the 50's. back to you. all right, john, thank you for that. let's get look at your highways this morning.

traveling into the city on the bay bridge just under 10 minutes. mace that fremont street exit. >> smooth sailing on a friday san mateo bridge, a 80 to 1, 0, one 14 right there. looking good. richmond center fell bridge just short of 8 minutes. and the golden gate bridge. 37 to the tolls. 22 minutes. to one is the time. let's get to our top story this morning, which is the fact that the giants they got their home opener today. yeah, a lot of people are excited. oracle park there be welcoming those fans back and that's where we can find kron four's will tran. he's got the best seat in in the stadium. where will i do with little cold earlier? but they're glad to see the sun now shining on. will. >> but you know what? now that the sun is coming out, we needed to come out even higher because, hey, it going? so we're seeing familiar faces show at the ballpark and a lot of people are coming here. you as a fan not allowed to come here yet until 10, 35, it's still cold. bring your gloves. that's the best advice i can give you because let's face

it. i think john was talking about in the 40's this morning. so it's not warm. not yet. hopefully what's going to be red hot will be the giants. that's because they needed. they're finally home 2, 5 record after playing the giants. escuse me the dodgers and the padres on the road. this is their home opener. they do it every year. they always start off the season on the road and then come back after several games before the fans. now, there are still tickets available. they start off at around $65. new season new players, new added 2 new hope. new sound explained that just a few moments. but far as the giants, bob melvin is now the manager facing his old team, the san diego padres. you manage them last year he returned home literally because he's from the bay area. they take over the san francisco giants. brandon crawford no longer with the team. he's on another team. but the giants still have the

same as what they had back in the early 2000 tents. the hope of winning another world series. they just need you. the fans and again, tickets are still available. got a chance to talk to a giant executive. she said this year that fans and the players are in for a treat throughout the season. >> the sound system specifically, we replaced it with their original speaker system from 25 years ago. so have a lot has improved and changed since then with the new sound will really increase. seen the fidelity and sound quality throughout the ballpark. >> you can hear the bass, everybody loves base. absolutely. you'll be able to feel the base in your seats and even our players have said, you know, the change in their walk-up music, they can really hear it much better than in years past it. >> how awesome is that? a new sound system blasting fans. i

the ip. all right. so a lot of smiles there on the dry side of the not so much on the oakland snow after 56 years in the east bay, the oakland a's are pulled up their roots camp and they're heading to sacramento. they are have question now is what's going to happen to we have kron four's gayle ong with a closer look at that. >> i wish that we were able to keep a's in oakland 4, 1, 2, 3 or more years speaking to us by phone, alameda county supervisor david haubert who has been in meetings with the oakland a's team executive says the focus for the future of the oakland coliseum will be to bring in as many events as possible. so just sporting events with the oakland roots set to play at the we're to joining housing, according to working closely operators to keep people employed and to keep revenue coming in >> for also remembering a operations, one team that hopes to be part of the

oakland coliseum future. the oakland ballers, the team's co-founders join kron. 4 news at 3 thursday. we're excited to play every monday park. hopefully beyond that. you know. >> we're talking to the community were talking to the city. we're talking to the fans and we will do what's best for for oakland. we continue to be excited about the prospect of playing the game at. >> at the coliseum. if if that ever comes to fruition, we're excited to go see routes games there in seoul, games. you know, it's a beautiful ballpark. we want to see it activated. a statement from oakland mayor sheng thao reads in part, quote. >> we wish the a's the best and we'll continue our conversations with them on facilitating the sale of their share of the coliseum site. the city of oakland will now focus on advancing redevelopment efforts at the colosseum. there are 3 guilty parties here. john fisher, major league baseball and the elected officials of oakland alameda county, former a's executive andy do weighing in on the future of the coliseum with the a's moving to sacramento, the you can see this book over my shoulder.

it. they 74 home games left and for a long time beer hawker and oakland native kendrick thompson, who you see there, the a's move to sacramento is particularly heartbreaking. he says it's going to cost hundreds of jobs and he's among them. >> i grew up. watch my father man. and it's like a dream job for me not much. it makes emotion. you want to yell strain. >> you know, you want to figure next move as soon as possible. >> thompson says there are other places to be a vendor like over at oracle park. but he says it's just not the same. at this point. he says he has no plans to follow the team to sacramento. >> news pacifica poliee released body camera video from the deadly shooting. this happened last week did involving a mother. police officers ended up shooting and killing her after she shot her own son. now police have identified the woman as 50 year-old michelle, a recent kron. 4. sarah stinson has the story. >> the daughter says her mom

has never been violent before. she says the night prior to the shooting, they were celebrating her brother's birthday. she says that's when they learned their mom had bought a gun. they tried to convince her to return it. she says they're still in shock, but she's glad her brother's, ok, gunshots, gunshots. >> newly released body camera video shows the moment leading up to a deadly police shooting in pacifica. it was before 8 in the morning on march 27th when a 23 year-old man called 9-1-1 after locking himself in the bathroom of his apartment. he says he got shot by his mother. police identified her thursday as 50 year-old michelle raise shot. want right woman? >> early 50's point a moment. >> police say a raise was just pulling out of the apartment complex on francisco boulevard. 2 officers tried to stop her one on each side of the driveway. staff police lowdown. the video to show a raise pointing a gun at both of them before officers shot at her. after this car came to

a stop. officers say they removed the gun from a raise his hand and checked on suspects down. >> ambulance arrived for both the sun and mom, but a raise died at the scene. >> the son was taken to the hospital after being shot in his left arm and right wrist in a race car. police say they found a loaded handgun and 4 boxes of ammunition in the apartment. they found the family dog shot and killed the san mateo county district attorney's office is in the middle of an independent investigation to see if the shooting was in compliance. pacifica. police are also doing an internal investigation to see if officers followed policies and procedures while speaking with a race daughter off camera, she told me she believes her mom was going through a mental episode that morning and wishes she never had bought that gun. >> the da says it will take 8 to 9 weeks to complete its investigation. the 2 officers involved are on administrative

at sfo. spring break. travel is said to be at its peak this weekend. but >> it's not just spring break. so a lot of people are heading out of town to catch monday. solar eclipse faa forecasting more than 50,000 flights around the nation as spring break, travel peaks. significant number of people are also heading to parts the u.s. that will be in the so-called path of totality for the closest i've been talking about, that's going to be from texas to maine. the faa advises travelers is going be a little patient and give yourself a whole lot of extra time at the airport because was going to try but it's all going to be weather dependent. we'll see what the cloud coverage is yesterday. the clouds parted just enough. >> for folks around mount diablo, they were able to catch a glimpse of some of that snow that fell during the morning storm. is this for a magazine or a like a professional? that's my cell yesterday that yeah, that was

everyone for the giants game yeah, it i think it's going to stay dry. i just want you to be caught out there shivering and wet. so that's the worst thing to do at the giants stadium. >> we are looking out there at downtown san francisco with a little bit of cloud cover overhead, but certainly brighter than yesterday. you can see that snow fall that talking about still falling in or upper elevations of the east bay. even a little flurry trying to cut down around mount tam not been super successful in doing so. right now, we are also seeing current snowfall up in the sierra not showing signs of letting up just yet. this low pressure is now just moving south of the bay area behind it. of course, we're still going to be cold for several days. so this weekend is just a very unseasonably chilly april weekend, mid-afternoon today there's that shower potential. i'm talking about. i'm feeling san francisco is going to stay dry. but these are close enough there that there is a degree of uncertainty going on inland areas. late afternoon. we'll see our better chance of

thunderstorms. tonight. we dry out and tomorrow we stay dry. tomorrow is going to be most consistently dry day of the forecast. saturday night into sunday morning. a very brief resurgence of some light showers. and then we dry back out to sunday and good news for eclipse viewing on monday as we're warming up in staying crystal clear all across the bay area, it's going to be optimal eclipse viewing come monday. as for rain totals the rest of the weekend. i mean, it's less than a 10th of an inch were down with the heaviest of staff. lets you do find yourself under an inland thunderstorms. a winter weather advisory remains in the sierra through 11:00pm tonight. a winter storm warning in the mountains above the southern part of the state. so even la metro area had some unseasonably cold weather these past. 24 hours. if you are heading up to the sierra, expect snow level dropping well, down to 1000 feet this morning. and that has resulted in some slick conditions. well, down into the foothills where we're at in the bay area today, mid to upper 50's for your daytime highs that is going make for some relatively nice feeling

after her shift was over and she was just trying to go home. also in headlines today, a man has been charged in connection with that assault of a dea officer in concord. investigators say that joel dowden was charged with one count. each of mailing threatening communications with intent to extort and assaulting a federal officer. if convicted. now faces a maximum sentence of 20 years for each count that he's charged with. prosecutors say he has been in federal custody since his arrest back in january. >> 4 is your local election headquarters. and after weeks of counting ballots in the race to succeed, congresswoman anna eshoo, it's a tie between assemblyman evan low and santa clara county supervisor. joe submitting it. candidates are now moving on from the primary. and joining former san jose mayor sam liccardo on that november ballot. most surprising the outcome. the thankful to voters i receive interest in a recount. instead, the focus on november issues they want to tackle and

they remind voters why they are the candidates best selected for that seat. >> is there are a host of issues out there that are calling out for someone to be effective in congress. we've got a high cost of living. we've got climate change to tackle. we've got a woman's right to choose all these are issues the cry out for effective legislators among the candidates who are going to be a runoff. i've got the ability to say. i've been there. i've done that have had the success and i can take that same set of skills to washington to deliver for people in our district. >> what sets me apart is that record of service that when it comes to the most pressing issues that time i champion in co author legislation to enshrine reproductive freedom protections in our state constitution. i've been legislative beer from the california police chiefs association. record amounts legislative proposals continue that in washington, d.c., will continue to book at partnerships over partisanship and also answering the call

>> a 25 the time. and california is one of the most expensive places to live as we know, but also the most expensive place to die, according to the national funeral directors association, the golden state falls in 4th place. when you look at that metric, the average cost to hold a funeral in the u.s. is more than $7800. but here in california, the price tag is upwards of $11,000 at number one on the list. hawaii, we're costs nearly $15,000 for a funeral. the expenses cover items like the casket in the use of funeral home facilities and everything else involved. also for your money this morning, oil prices are climbing to their highest level in months this week with crude oil now surpassing $90 a barrel for the first time since october, there's been growing demand a drone attacks in russia and turmoil in the middle east are all creating a

perfect storm for prices to spike in fact, they're up more than 18% so far this year. aaa says the average price for a gallon regular gas nationwide is now $3.58. as we approach the summer driving season. course, it's much higher than that here in california where we're averaging 5.27 a gallon that statewide here in the bay area or even above that, as you can see, marin county right now with the most expensive average price of 5.53. a gallon, san mateo county not far behind at 5.51. and you can see the price drops a penny or 2 as you work your way down to each city on that list until you get to the bottom where the cheapest price on average right now is solano county at $5.32. a gallon >> prices for coffee and chocolate are already at a record level highs and they're set to keep going up this year. cocoa prices already more than doubled since january. that's because west africa, which produces 70% of the world's cocoa crops. so extreme weather lately, various parts of the world that produce coffee also saw.

occasional shower to right, john? yes, so we're definitely not completely out of the woods today, although looking whole lot better than we were yesterday morning at this time, looking outside at the embarcadero right now, getting a good dose of sunshine. but you can see those clouds out in the distance. got a little snowfall still falling on top of our mountain tops like mount diablo and mount hamilton. just east of san jose. and of course, all that blew up in the sierra indicating still very snowy up that direction, too. so very much so most active still in our own bay area mountains. there's all that blue showing up. you're going to see some light on those slopes today as the sun clears out more and more. now, futurecast does show a few mid afternoon showers right along the east bay shoreline. this is what we're looking at right here right around 03:00pm to 04:00pm today. better chance of some thunderstorms will occur for inland east bay neighbors towards the latter part of the afternoon. temperatures are mostly in the 40's right now. berkeley sitting at 43 degrees. alameda in redwood city at 48 wall.

disappointed by that. not surprised by it, though. kron four's dan kerman explains. >> i just want to say we're excited to be here for the next 3 years. >> a's owner john fishes announcement that the a's would leave oakland at the end of this season and play the 2025. 26 27 seasons that sutter health park in sacramento. comes as no surprise to fans were not shot. were. >> if anything, i'm disgusted. >> it's just sort of it's not a shock. it's not grief. it's just sickening help. gordon is a former vendors at the coliseum known to most is how the hot dog guy. >> there's only one person who's to blame for this. this this process that can only certain be described as just symbolic. and that's john fisher. just more proof that these billionaires, they don't care about the consumer. they don't care about fans you know that they don't care at all. >> ryan johansen with oakland's last dive bar says not extending the lease at the oakland coliseum is what fans have come to expect from a's

owner john fisher. didn't matter what the offer was going to be. john fisher and mlb. one. nothing to do with the with remaining in oakland are working out any kind of deal whatsoever. but anger from oakland fans isn't just level the day's owner, john fisher, but his friend run the owner of sutter health park, the minor league sacramento river cats and basketball. sacramento kings for him to go and >> help facilitate this or for the ace leave oakland faster than what they were expected to be a. it's very disheartening. and and a disappointing. >> ironically, it was run the dva who's 2013 purchase of the kings saved that franchise from being moved to seattle. going forward. a's fans say they will continue their summer boycott of the a's and increase their focus and teams that support the city of oakland. we have events scheduled with the oakland ballers, the roots, the soul. >> and so there's opportunity is somewhat fill that void, even though that the way to says is vast and is huge. but

victim told police he found these trying to steal his car and when he interrupted them, they confronted him which calls in to fear for his safety. that's what he says. they drove away. police say they found that car nearby empty. no arrests been made. a man is dead following a stabbing at a san leandro safely. this happened just after 5 tuesday evening. the store is located on bancroft avenue. selanne. do police say the victim got into a fight with another person in the store? that's when the suspect took out a knife and stabbed the victim before he left the store. police have not released the identities of the victim or the suspect who still remains at large this morning. >> in the south bay, we have 2 men accused of selling drugs on the dark web. they've been arrested now following a months long investigation. so this is in san jose and take a look at the items that police say they found in their homes. this investigation all started with a traffic stop back in november. that's when they found illegal drugs in the car and the officers then used that as a means to get a

search warrant to search the home. and when they got inside, they found multiple guns and more drugs that were intended for sale. police say the investigation revealed these men were selling these illegal drugs on the dark web accepting only cryptocurrency as payment. >> so protesters blocked the entrance of the lockheed martin's research facility in sunny hill yesterday. the group calling for a cease-fire in gaza says the facility is supplying israel with jets and missiles. about 250 people participated in the rally that lasted for about 5 hours. one point, a driver sped towards them. got out of the car threatened them with a knife. >> what you want present.

>> okay. the video shows the man he is back in his truck with protesters saying that he could park and then walk in to get the laptop he said he needed to work from home. no one was arrested during that protest. >> now to the state capitol where legislative democratic leaders and governor newsom have announced an agreement now to try and shrink the state's budget deficit by more than 17 billion dollars. but they've got a ways to go because the state is facing a projected budget deficit of anywhere from 38 to 73 billion dollars depending on whose matthew go by state. president pro tem mike mcguire says that the new early budget action deal is a significant step forward. this urgent action. >> he's going to make the job
