become last one way or another. and, you know, we've been looking at this for a while there's no one thing that you could put your finger on, what it really is is we're seeing it's a confluence of issues. some of it having to be with people's living situations changing. and if you're if you are in a place where you're renting and now you have to move in, you're going to a place where you know, the you know, the new place doesn't allow pets. that's one of the reasons why we could see someone actually come in, you know, surrender their pet to the shelter. but asked for >> stray intake in in, you you know, just kind of other ways that animals come test you know, it's it could be a number of things that could be housing. it can be just like with everything the cost for owning an animal has gone way up. everything from the price of pet food to veteran arie to
3:47 pm
grooming and basic stuff like that. so i think what we're seeing are, you know, the economic environment in the bay area here kind of playing go playing over into our world, which is having us see a lot of animals come through our doors in talking to people who have been in this industry for many, many years. they saw the same thing around the 2008 economic where intake just really shot up. and so i think that's probably the biggest contributing factor to why we're seeing this increased intake post-pandemic. but, you know, like shelters across the bay in the state. you know, trying outside of the box ideas putting in new programs and initiatives to help, you know, get more pets whether that's going casual. a doctor who was looking to adopt a new family member or to a rescue who's going to spend some time
