into the south bay, too. like i said, mostly cloudy blanket is right above us. it sure is a sign of that ocean cool there that is sweeping in from the coast immediately from the west. so this moderating impact on temperatures is actually set to continue today. partially in part due to that right now we're in the 50's across the bay. very much so like yesterday was and later on today, looking a lot like yesterday to it's a nice, steady forecast this week and it looks to be that way towards the weekend to which i've got for you in the full forecast. as for your roads right now, things are ok for the most part. bay bridge is doing just fine. now there is an off-ramp that is being affected by an overturned big rig that is not having an impact on travel across the bay bridge, though. but if you are looking at making a u-turn, essentially getting off the bay bridge making way back into oakland. it is that off-ramp that connector there that is having the issue. san mateo bridge at 12 minutes to

get you across their the richmond center fell and the golden gate. no issues whatsoever, right? all right, john, thank you for or top story this morning. alameda county voters are going to decide in november. >> whether or not to recall district attorney pamela price. so the alameda county board of supervisors voted last night to hold that recall election during the november general election. they have the option of choosing a special election this summer or putting the issue on the november ballot. nearly 100 people showed up for public comment ahead of the supervisors. vote, suppose push for a special election in august or september. are you in the public? safety is at risk at the longer she remains da price and her supporters wanted to wait until november to avoid the added costs for taxpayers. now one of price's supporters, the group prosecutors, alliance action issued the statement that reads in part cole. we're glad that today the board of supervisors decided to do the right thing and save taxpayers

information you're asked to contact fremont police immediately. another big story that we're following bay area universities pushing back against student protesters. 3 week-long encampment at u c berkeley ended on tuesday. and for weeks now, can't it. pop up all campuses across the bay with students demanding that the university has cut ties with this. their israeli relations as to other university set deadlines for students to clear up their tents. well, this is what's left of the encampment at cow students camped out for more than 3 reits right outside of sproul hall. the chancellor carol crist sent out a letter on tuesday. same school leaders reached an agreement with demonstrators. a crazed says the university will create a committee overlook investments in israel adding they will not be able to fully divest from those investments. they will look into weapons, manufacturing and surveillance industries. the time students over at san francisco state, they reached an agreement with

the administration after more than 2 weeks of demonstrating who've been out of the school's president and other leaders committed to divest from weapons manufacturers and create a workforce to develop new screenings for investments. student protesters are scheduled a press conference for this afternoon. time now 507. meantime, jose state school leaders gave protesters and tail 6 o'clock last night to completely clear their encampment as jack moma reports, students say they have no plans to leave any time soon. what started as daytime sitting senator state's campus is now a 24 7 encampment. >> because i understand that our campus is very silent and complicit with not only genocide, but also as 9 isn't. >> around 70 protesters asking the university to abide by their demands. professor of

typical forecast marine. there's actually pretty shallow this morning that so should burn off pretty quickly. tomorrow morning, i'm expecting marine layer to actually be a little bit thicker and lower and could result in some more drizzle across the bay into your thursday. start now as far as today's daytime highs are concerned. we are in the 60's towards the coastline. 70's for most of the bay shore and then keeping those few 80's around further inland. carlos at 76 san jose at 82 degrees. pretty unchanged from yesterday. freeman through hayward in the 70's well, tri valley in the low 80's, ramon up to walnut creek in the 70's. while oakland, you reach 70's today after the past few days of 60's. vacaville, our warmest spot nearing 90 degrees, not quite getting there, though. looking ahead of our next 7 days. tomorrow's daytime highs pretty similar to today's. we do have a very slight cool down into the weekend. that's enough to take us down into the 70's for your warmest of highs by saturday and sunday. roadway wise

things are looking ok, now we do have an issue that is not affecting travel on the bay bridge. but if you are taking the off-ramp to get onto maritime grand avenue, that is right. but for the bay bridge toll plaza, there's an overturned big rig that has that off-ramp blocked. but if you're staying on the bridge itself, you will not be noticing that san mateo bridge and 12 minutes to make your crossing. while the richmond sandra fell as well as the golden gate bridge is are all moving along, just fine as well. right? all right, john, thank you for that. will the 5 year old boy drowned at bethel island on saturday has now been identified. >> his name is lucas from livermore. lucas is found in the water about 40 minutes after being reported missing he was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to a neighbor, the boy was visiting family at a housing complex. he was a water when he fell off the dock in the back of the home. you don't have any other details about the circumstances of that route. 8. they're not available at this time, but we will

with the latest on that will. so what are you learning? >> what the reason why they're doing it in the general election, november 5th, according to the board of supervisors and not a special election, which could have happened as early as august. it comes down to 2 things time. they don't think they can turn around quickly enough for august or even september and money. this is a cash strapped county and they simply cannot afford a special election. now, let me show you video of the meeting last night by the alameda county board of supervisors, dozens of people turned out on both sides of the issue. recall supporters and supporters of pamela price recall supporters believe that she is soft on crime and suspects and they want a special election in meeting every day that she is in office. she should not be as crime continues. and the suspects they claim are not being charged properly and they want that special

election. now, her supporters, including, of course, pamela price. they want general election because generally general elections, especially with the presidential election this november, more people turn out and with more people turning out, they have a bigger sample size and it actually helps people fighting against. i recall, meaning a stand-alone election helps recall supporters and a general election has more people more sample size and ultimately could help. pamela price. here's reaction on both sides of the issue. >> da price won her election fairly. it should be allowed to serve her entire term. this recall is ridiculous. so many businesses that are closing down because they are the da is not prosecuting. these criminals says the recall election. >> has violated the county charter. it is actually illegal and undemocratic all we want is justice. accountability for the

not >> kron 4, we did reach out to google for comment, but we haven't heard back so far. man suspected of shooting 2 women and a is a home earlier this month has now been arrested in kansas. alameda county district attorney's office charging howrey with 2 counts of murder. investigators found the woman dead inside of their home on durham and the avenue on may 4 after their members of their family have reported. neither have responded to phone calls or tech sence the end of april. investigators identified the suspect as read who they say was living with the women. was arrested in kansas has been brought back to california. in the east bay. a 22 year-old hayward man riding a scooter was killed. the fatal collision with a car. this all happened near the intersection of mission boulevard and orchard avenue last wednesday when officials arrived found the scooter rider unresponsive and with injuries, he had to be taken to the hospital where he died. the driver did not suffer any injuries. police say drugs or alcohol are not believed to be

car several measures and other words, jail or prison time in 2023. >> we saw a crackdown on drug users. the sheriffs were activated to arrest. people use drugs in the heart of our city. 60% of those arrests involved. people of >> see the ways that disrupts people's lives and actually contributes to overdose deaths. >> district attorney brooke jenkins sees the problem in a very different light. i think the fact that we have enabled drug use that we have condoned it and we've allowed it is what has caused this problem to everyone that i talked to who is in recovery right now, it has been successful, said that it was the criminal justice system that really propelled to decide that treatment was what they needed for themselves. they had to be forced in a way to make that choice for what was best for them. and so that's all that we're trying to do is to make sure that we protect the most vulnerable from drug dealers,

but also use this system to try to to to influence people to choose a better life for themselves. coalition members argue that crackdown measures only lead to more overdoses. >> they say san francisco needs to spend more money on prevention, treatment and community care facilities and say treatment should be available on demand. no waiting. >> we put so many barriers in people's way from meeting to have id from meeting to show up at a certain place at a certain time of wait, lance. but among those agreeing that tougher measures are critical. >> supervisor matt dorsey, who has overcome his own drug problems, he says with progress being made to reduce street level drug scenes advocating to turn san francisco streets into arrest free for all of public drug use is a lunatic fringe and are key, not sound public health strategy. we have an
