9:01 am
definitely a shallow marine layer. so burning off very fast at the coastline, you can see it's still very present through the golden gate, looking at this view from mount tam down into the bay. we do have sunshine up above that blanket of cloud cover still ever persistent down below. >> now we will be looking at a slightly warmer day today, despite that seabreeze that we're still be tapping into having at least some moderating factor on us. a lot of us will be rising into the 70's to even upper 80's in some cases. so enjoy this nice, cool, crisp morning. well, we've got it already seeing some 60's and a few low 70's popping up for the stimulant later today. our warmest temperatures of the week with solid 80's inland and some 70's along the bayshore rain. all right, john, thank you for that. 80 westbound at west grand after offer is still closed. >> because of this overturned, big rig has been a problem for most of the morning. thankfully, all of off-ramp is closed. it's not impacting the flow of traffic into the city. look at that 15 minutes. if you're wondering where that just about there, they almost
9:02 am
got that off of the highway. it was over turnout up, right? so that's a little silver lining. 7, bridge around 17 minutes, a 80 to 1, 1, if you're taking that right now, richmond center fell bridge for 14 back down 8 and the golden gate bridge. 37 of the tolls you making. good time. 30 minute ride yet a little far. but that's not slowing you down. diet is back to you. thanks a lot of tonight. no one in our top story is the recall of da pamela price in alameda county. now we have a date for voters are going to decide her fate on the november general election ballot kron four's will tran live now in county. >> with reaction to that news will. >> people who want her recall, they want her to leave office as early as august, possibly september, but definitely not november 5th, but that's what's going to happen as far as letting the public decide whether or not price will hold on to her job. now, let me show you video from last night
9:03 am
at the alameda county board of supervisors meeting they unanimously voted to have the recall election during the general election, november 5th, instead of august or september or and it came down to timing and money. they don't believe that they can quickly turn around and have a special election come august and having it in november will be a lot cheaper for the county for a million for the general election. as much as 20 million for a stand-alone, special election that people who want her recalled say that she is soft on crime. soft on suspects, but many other people, especially her supporters, believe she won fair and square. she won during the general election and she should have chance to defend herself come general election. >> da price won her election fairly. it should be allowed to serve her entire term. this recall is ridiculous. so many businesses that are closing down because they are the da
9:04 am
is not prosecuting. these criminals says the selective recall election. >> has violated the county charter. it is actually illegal and undemocratic. all we want is justice. accountability for the citizens. alameda county. >> there are 960,000 registered voters in alameda county wide. each side believe that one special election versus at general election, a special election, a stand-alone election, fewer people turn out and that would actually hurt pamela price. she and her supporters, they wanted the general election because more people turn out, especially this being a presidential year that a bigger size sample would actually help or because more people would turn out so they could vote in favor of her staying in office. so this is a win for her and her supporters, at least for now.
9:05 am
thank you. well. >> time now is 904 and new this morning, teachers in the south bay are rallying right now demanding better pay. yeah. they want wages to improve. they want. >> safety class sizes to get smaller. all of this is being negotiated at the bargaining table. crawford's michael thomas is live in gatos with more. michael? >> hey, good morning, everyone. that's right. teachers were out here about 15, 20 minutes ago or so. we're talking about a few dozen. take a look. this is video from that rally. not only was it here at los gatos high school, but it was also over at saratoga high school as well. the teachers say they want more pay, saying that there's some of the lowest paid in the entire county. also adding that many of these teachers, as you can see on those signs there actually have 2 jobs just to make ends meet. also adding in that they're not even able to live in this district area, but they do drive here in commute for work because they care about the students there at the bargaining table. we spoke with one of the bargaining representatives who is also a teacher, her los gatos. take a listen to what she had to say.
9:06 am
it's a great place. >> but it's very hard and i hope the parents realized a majority of us we can't afford to live here. we have to commute to be able to work here >> now, in addition, they're also asking for smaller class sizes when it comes to specialty classes. and they're also asking for smaller workload, essentially overall back out here live again. the rally lasted for about 30 to 40 minutes or so before they did head into the classroom. we reached out to the district but have not heard back as of yet. but we are seeing that we will hear more as go head to bargaining table and both times like this morning, liz sir michael thomas is sent back to to live in the studio. all right. thank you, michael. >> 906, is the time. >> other news we're following as want tell you what happened and of allay there was a shooting and a man was found dead. this was yesterday afternoon, marquette avenue and allay where police found the man suffering from one gunshot wound. we don't have

9:09 am
>> after looking at one of the cut cables, becker says he knew exactly what happened and the suns have a little copper poor so i catch it spent 17 years investigating these kinds of crime we would find generators in the back of big box retailers stripped of their copper right now. copper sells for $3, a pound on average and you get up to around 10 to 12 miles. and you're looking to push probably 100 pounds. >> tesla quickly replace the charging cables on monday. >> but 8 stalls remained offline until tuesday night at 7 o'clock. i'm glad it didn't take all of the copper cause. >> i actually was pretty low right now. like outlets. so that would be pretty bad as some push. and i hope it doesn't happen again. and that clears tiktok got nearly 1 million views in just 48 hours. he says while it's angered a lot of people, he wants everyone to know that stealing copper is not a fast track to cash. you really had to work hard and then.

>> we are back time now. 9.13, and highway one in big sur set to reopen to traffic this friday. part of that highway, as you can see here in the video collapse last march following our winter storms. it happened just about a half mile north of the famous bixby bridge. now, crews say when it does reopen on friday, it won't be a full reopening. they're going to traffic signal there and they're going to control one-way. alternating traffic to get past that section that washed out. so there is a project to construct a permanent repair that's currently in the design phase. but they are hoping to have that finished by may be
9:15 am
spring of next year. so we'll see. >> it depends what beach go if you're going to be socked in our cold right or warm today. let's check bell with john. yeah. people be just driving down the coast trying to find that sunshine happen. bays not getting it right now. this is super stockton. look at this very foggy right along the coast. while the rest of us are actually clearing a little bit quicker than we did yesterday. high pressure still really keeping this forecast steadily dry. we don't have anything coming through that's going to disrupt this dry trend, at least in the next 7 to 10 days. so just warm weather and today ever so slightly being the warmest one of this forecast still receiving that cool sea breeze. and that will scoot back in tonight allowing us another foggy start to the morning tomorrow. a little dense ers. first marine. there goes tomorrow and that will keep temperatures just a touch cooler than today's today's daytime highs in the 60's for san francisco as well as the coastline, even with some persistent fog out there, 70's
9:16 am
to 80's for most of the rest of us. and a few more 80's on the map today than what we saw yesterday. like a lot of the south bay cupertino, saratoga, san jose. 82 same in livermore while he word up to oakland back in the low to mid 70's concord, you'll be up to 81 and our warmest spot vacaville nearing 90 degrees today. not quite getting there, though. that's not a number will see in this forecast after today. temperatures will gradually fall just a few degrees at the time by the weekend will be mostly in the 70's for pretty much everyone rain. all right, john, thank you for that. construction? this is along eastbound 20 fort stevens drive. that's in orinda. >> actually got a few texts and phone calls about folks being stuck in the traffic there. so we got construction going on. and if you are trying maybe get around, i i take 80 depending where you're trying to go to. you could also try to go a little further down to take 6.80. then you still got to get to that 5.88, traffic things are a little congested there. look at the backup. i mean, it's
9:17 am
from 24 all the way down to 13. no accidents. they just have been doing construction and it's really been slow folks down for the past hour and a half. okay. the bay bridge right now smooth ride in his city. 14 minute ride. but remember west grand avenue, the off-ramp still close because an early-morning overturned. big rig, big rigs up, but it still blocking the highway there. 14 minutes on the san mateo bridge. let's check on 101, about 61 over an hour. 2, 80 82 might better options for you at this time. james, back to you. >> 9.16 the time. time to talk winners and losers on wall street financial expert rob black joining us today with a look at the markets we've been waiting for some financial news to come down the pipe. what are we seeing? we're seeing. >> the nasdaq and s p 500 all time highs. james, the congratulations your 401 k is probably doing very thanks for being patient for the last 20 years with me keeps hitting highs each year. ultimately 7 out of 10 years. it's a good
9:18 am
thing and that's why you believe in the markets and don't doubt the markets don't say silly things like there are a roller coaster. today. cpi was a little cooler than expected. so consumer prices a little bit. we're at the 3.4% range. historically inflation's been between 2 and 4%. the fed wants a closer to, but we're in the historical range. so the economy's doing well. jobs are doing nicely. we're seeing a weekend of the consumer on the lower end. maybe a little bit of a halloween on the middle and consumer, but that's the only negative icy out there, james. so retail sales were flat. so the fed should apps sooner, maybe twice this year lowering interest rates to make sure that we don't, you know, slip that retailed number that week, even weaker. >> okay. i don't. if you got a chance to check but amazon had their upfronts where they present to advertisers. what there lineup of new shows. our rick earle renew chose. i a couple things that excited me. anything in that bunch that that drew your eye.
9:19 am
>> it was the first time the digital ads were really well and amazon brought this to the table. teams. so typically up front or abc, nbc, cbs and fox nationally get to commercial all across the country called spots and dots kind is a great way of thinking about so coca-cola buys like the super bowl, but amazon's able to digital ads so they can see that year. 50 plus years old. they could see that your kids in their 20's and you can deliver different ads to different elevations. that's part of the up fronts this year that i that i'm excited about. yeah. what's his deal? they have with a pop culture. jeopardy. new show you just knew. i forgot all about that. so pop culture jeopardy's coming to amazon prime. it could be about movies and tv shows and music. it's going to be a tv show based on jeopardy. it's going have an international rollout said you want to be a contest james and i think you and i know pop culture more than we know 1818 th-century english literature.
9:20 am
so that could that the categories will be easier is what it is. i'm assuming interesting. okay. and then also on the tech front, i also watched. >> longer than i thought was like 3 hours. but i watched the google i o played on you too. boy, they're going they're going hard with gemini, an ai. they're like integrating it and everything. >> yeah, they're searches in iraq this week. that's going to be augmented with but the one that got me excited was 2 days ago. chatgpt said basically use the phone. put it with a camera on over a math problem. he talked to it. you would say, let's say your systems called lisa. you say hey, lisa, can you solve this problem for she just no problems here. phone starts talking to you. 2 x plus one equals acts. what do you do first and i go. i don't know. we saw it says subtract one from both sides. so it's using the camera and it's talking to you, james. this is exciting times in a i. >> it's pretty cool. so i'm looking forward to seeing how they could become more and more of. yeah, that like personal assistant, that's

always at your fingertips. that's going sell a lot of so kidding. all right. we talked about amazon a moment ago. let's talk about netflix streaming nfl games christmas christmas day. it looks like christmas day. they're getting 2 games this year. last year there was 3 games on christmas, not on netflix. it was 3 of the top. 25 shows of the year that tell you, america loves football. before i go further, netflix, let me just say we get monday night against aaron rodgers forty-niners the full schedule be released tonight at 05:00pm. it will be a show on espn. that's how much people love football. netflix dabbled with quarterback highly-rated really cool series in 2023. the summer they're going lot receiver which can have tebow, samuel and not kettle from the forty-niners. well, as john jefferson or justin jefferson, super exciting times at netflix and they're they're going where the eyeballs are the most. and you maybe watch with your kids on christmas, a football game and you have
9:22 am
memories of it. now, netflix want to stick around for the whole month. watch extra shows continue to subscribe. and if you don't have, that's the big question for you don't have netflix to be able to watch like on local stations. probably not. that's a first for the nfl. why? i'm making it totally exclusive. so it could be a big winner for netflix and exclusive netflix. okay. and then lastly, we have a few seconds left yesterday to talk about wnba stars and what they kind of make. it was sort of like a lot of that should probably make a little more than that. pickleball players like the top player feels like they're making more than wnba stars. it was just he's the professional pickleball or he makes 2.5 million just a couple years ago. he was making 250,000 from tournaments and sponsorships. so he's up 10 fold back in 2018 years, making 50,000 see seen a lot of that money is coming in fast. this is a crazy sport. 14 1% of americans played pickleball in the last 36 million play typically once

a month in the united states. i cant believe those numbers. there's a professional league that runs from january through december where they played 24 tournament so popular. he's gaining james. yeah, i could figure out a way to invest in it. i would big names like lebron james and tom brady already invested. big sponsors are coming to do so it's part ping pong. it's part badminton, its part tennis. but it's it's it's definitely big money. and it's easier on the knees, which partly why number one number one. and we visit injury right now is some the killer's tended all right, rob, thank tough on the right? okay. thank you very much. rob has always that was rob again tomorrow. so let him know. now facebook acts email. what topic you want to talk about?

on wednesday. so far. so good. and i think today tomorrow we hitting like the warmest days of the week, john? yet today itself is going to be likely the very warm us when we got back. villa 89 today saying 82. so not much warmer than we've been but definitely a step up before we gradually descend into the weekend. a lot of fog towards the coastline and still a little bit hanging out above uc berkeley right here in the berkeley hills. >> most of us, though, of actually seeing a lot of that fog clearing at this point, a modest sea breeze will continue to push inland today that will at least moderate temperatures along the bay shore and the coastline. right now, temperatures in the 50's oakland and alameda at 56 degrees. a few low 70's popping back up for some of our inland areas. and later on today, it will be a lot of 70's to even those upper 80's in a few spots. like i mentioned, i'll talk all about today's details and a look ahead at the weekend. still ahead. >> right now. all right, john, thank you that and talk about that construction along eastbound. 24 causing quite
