3:08 pm
more of these preseason tickets. what does that tell you about the excitement that fans are feeling to have this franchise here in the bay area? >> i mean, it says a lot that even before we had a name or anything, you know, i like to say we only have mean i'm not that interesting, but it says a lot that we had 7500 deposits before we announced our name. it says even more that fans double down at that point and said we're definitely and understand what you're building and we want to be a part of it. the biggest piece for us is we know the various a special place and we feel really privileged to bring a wnba team in the first expansion team since 2008. >> to the bay area. we lead the world here and being innovative and progressive and be able to bring community together through women's sports in this manner. it's going to be an incredible statement, but it's also going to be a lot of so it's a great testament to the trust of this incredible ownership group with golden state has urine of area. it's a great testament to the power of women. sports right now as well. >> so slowly, everything starting to come together. we finally got a name. we have you on board as the president.
3:09 pm
we have a gm. we've got the logo. tickets are selling, but you need a team. you know, many players yet and we have a whole year. the season's going to kick off officially and 2025. what you have to do to get actual players to come and be part of the ballots. the bees. >> yes, for the it's really great that we now have a with ice in our first general manager. that is her job and everything that she is going to cure rate from a basketball culture which what's what's very transparent about us and its ownership group is we expect greatness and we want to do our best to be the best on and off the court. and so she will be a great testament to that and how she pieces together. what you can expect to see is an expansion draft this winter followed by free agency, followed by participating in the college draft next spring in april. so we're really looking forward to piecing together our team with the first historic dell curry's, you know, in our jersey coming to play even before we get there, we're just excited tomorrow to bring our community together for the first time at chi saint or talk about that block party a little bit. you're going to be
3:10 pm
there. it's tomorrow. we have some information we can put up on the screen so people can see. >> you know, the dates and the times, everything like that. but you guys are going to like a huge party tomorrow. yeah. it's the first time in our community gets to be together firsthand. it's valkyrie violates everywhere in this sea of our fans coming together, getting to know one another and building that community. >> and we couldn't do it without some incredible stakeholders like the low and the 40 and narrated by cumani with us too. so what we're building is really special. and we're looking for to celebrating firsthand with our community tomorrow. >> so we don't actually have the information to share with everyone officially on the screen. so can you just go over the times that people can show up tomorrow? >> sure. so please be sure to rsvp through and then from 02:00pmito 06:00pm. we'll be outside at thrive city, which is right outside of chase entered. so we look forward to seeing you there. and if you can't make it on and social are there, there will certainly be some incredible content coming out. so obviously when the team kicks off next year, you want to having some big wins on the court. >> but having success off the court as well, i think is part
3:11 pm
of your goals for the franchise. >> being really involved in the bay area community is something i know you want to to see happen. how are you going to do that? how we see the team out and about in the communities. you have a home base in san francisco. your headquarters is in oakland, but also getting out there meeting meeting young girls, kids from all over the community getting involved. how are you going to make that happen? >> yeah, we're going to make sure that we're showing up in providing places for people to get together. 3 wins basketball and beyond for the next year before we are together watching our team firsthand. it's really important that certainly for girls and boys have access to the wnba. and one of the things that's really powerful about us working together with the warriors and golden state into a is that we get to do that from day one, right? we get to ensure that boys know that the wta's for them and girls know that the nba's for them and vice versa. and that's really powerful to make sure that we are providing the idea was asian of all genders. you know, as we build this together, so that's going to be great for us. but most
3:12 pm
importantly, we're also gonna have fun. you're going check to see watch parties. we want to be the best hype women of the wnba that you can see this year and everything that we do before. of course, we start to make some waves, you know, with our roster additions come december. >> and i have some merch, some swag here. we've got what does it mean to you to actually see like? >> the logo, the name like it's official now like you're having a party tomorrow like this has been a longtime coming like, does it feel so rewarding that like? i mean, we've got some swag it just means everything. you know, so much of this work very candidly was down even before i joined golden state. like getting to listen to the fans and dell curry's has been called for from the beginning this summer to chronicle grand prix when it was announced, a survey of saying, you know, what should the team be called? that it was a right answer. and 25% of people. >> road in the belk rees you know, been working on that and making sure that when it came to market what it feels like, what it looks like, what it represents is really powerful and made a change on our team,
3:13 pm
you know, really helped lead that way, too. and now to have it here first hand to see the fan reactions to see our communities surrounding it say yes, let's go. this is powerful and we're going to do this together. there's no feeling like it. i can tell you the only feeling that will feel better is opening day in may of 2025 year round. so chase enter and seeing the folks that have come together to really make history can't wait to see that. i mean, being a warrior. >> woman is like a lot to live up to. >> it sure is. and the best part about dell curry's is they don't act alone, right? so our team is going to be entrenched with the community and side by side and everything that we build. and i can't wait to see what those results are on the court as well. >> we can't wait to see their. i can't wait to take my kids to a game. it's just going to be a whole different experience. i think it's going to mean so much the bay area. so thank you for bringing this
