getting onshore. that's good direction there. there's an offshore flip up in solano county briefly over the next 48 hours will point out lot of 50's on the temperature map. 48 going on for redwood city. 55 san jose and that is trailing tomorrow numbers from yesterday. in some cases novato negative 7, however, will probably catch a pretty quickly with the sunshine breaking for most you folks. 65 at 11 o'clock by 2.74. so little chilly in the city to get things started. so any that kinetic energy from the bay to breakers, stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. >> our top story this morning. thousands of people are in san francisco right now for bay to breakers like they've just mentioned there, starting at 08:00am runners make their way from main street all the way to ocean beach. organizers have made some changes over the years for public safety banning parade floats and adding alcohol checkpoints. 21,000 people are signed up for this year's event. we heard from race director kyle meyers. >> one of those days of the

year in san francisco that everybody kind of supports the runners supports the neighborhoods are coming out. course, just to have a good time and celebrate francisco. >> several road closures remain in place until at least 4 in the afternoon. bart and muni, both one special services today. more information on transportation and road closures on our website. kron 4 dot com. in the east bay, 6 people in daniels are recovering after a car crash on highway 4. this happened near delta gateway boulevard around 2 o'clock on saturday. the collision forcing all westbound lanes to close. the roadway is now back open contra costa fire says 6 people were rushed to the hospital. no word yet on their conditions. into the bay bridge back open today after a grass fire on europe. one island, the incident held up traffic in both directions for

hours as crews worked to put out that fire. at one point, all eastbound lanes were closed. fire boats were also brought in to help out. crews say saturday, strong winds made this fire challenging to extinguish cruz finally contain this blaze around 6.45. on saturday. the chp arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal hit and run. police say a driver struck and killed someone wednesday night in san leandro. the victim was found lying in the street at luling boulevard and embers away. police later found the car wanted in connection with this incident on friday. the suspect was booked into santa rita jail. bail was set at $125,000. daly city police arrested a woman for stealing money from an old navy cash register. police say this that happened inside the serramonte shopping center earlier this month. the woman through the cash register on the ground several times until it broke open she made off with nearly $300. she was later detained at a nearby store. police

arrested and booked the suspect for robbery. the california highway patrol canine sniffed out more than 500 grams of fentanyl during a traffic stop in san francisco. chp says an officer stopped a driver for a mechanical violation. you're westbound i-80 last week police detained the driver for not having a license and that's when the officers canine partner smelled drugs in the car. well, thanks to the dog. chp seized more than 500 grams of fentanyl. 158 grams of meth. 73 grams of heroin and 80 grams of xanax. the driver was booked into jail on multiple drug charges. plans to build a high-speed rail line connecting san francisco to southern california cleared another hurdle the la times reports california high-speed rail authority officials support latest recommendations for the 33 mile rail segment connecting anaheim to los angeles is just a portion of what's planned here. that does

clear the way for an environmental review, which is expected to take more than a year to finish. construction is already underway on 119 mile stretch of the rail line in the central valley. happening this weekend. 2 major roads in the bay area are partially closed as crews work on repairs. the eastbound lanes highway up there of highway. 37 are shut down between sonoma and solano counties. crews have detours starting at the highway. 37 highway one. 21 interchange near sears point that closure runs through 5 in the morning on monday, a portion of 6 ad is also close this weekend as a paving project continues. caltrans says the work affects southbound 6.80, costa boulevard in san ramon and the 5, 86, 80 connector in pleasanton. the lanes reopened at 4 in the morning on monday. the partial closure is one of 2 with another set for the weekend of may 31st. i think

>> all right, taking a live look outside at the golden gate bridge this morning. looking like a beautiful start your morning. this sunday. dave is tracking all those conditions for us today. what are you thinking about this is a much better than we had from yesterday. stephanie's. you can see even at this early hour, the golden gate, the fog clouds starting to the part. >> as we're seeing some of that happening here in the east bay shoreline to some haze left over, it looks like temperature check for you. almost readings in the 50's as we talk. 49 for redwood city, the cool spot there, but even half moon bay. 52 also san francisco, a little slow going at the coast, but give a couple of hours. we'll probably see a better performance today. all right. taking care of the fog pretty

early on this afternoon. might see the flare up of a few little showers way out there to the east in the mountains. and then here comes back again. the fog for tomorrow morning. very weak compared to what we've been through already. and again, that the part. so this starts to build for a little warm up phase. but leftover moisture there looks like for monday up in the mountains. now tuesday is probably going to be warmest day in the bunch before temps start to backtrack heading into next week. and there's actually a series of systems dropping south will be showing you hear these onshore winds. loyally will be here. and even though we'll see some better clearing at the coast a bit on the chilly side when you add that wind that will be more apparent by the late afternoon and evening hours. you can see start to kick up here a little bit in 30's that's due to some inland heating. that's kind of drive in the machinery for this offshore wind pop there for solano county that as early as monday, we repeat that on tuesday that some of the elements kind of reposition themselves again, tuesday should be the warmest day in the bunch temporarily before we moderate a little

bit for the remainder of the week as behind as a backdrop today, we've got better clearing and coastal clearing at that. a touch warmer 70's again touching around 80 or so in a couple spots early week, we're warming quickly mid-eighties happening by tuesday, then backtracking for the remainder of the week. we'll start to see some more scattered clouds thrown into our picture, particularly on saturday. looks like as temperatures fall to the lower 70's ultimately highs today will called 65 with some morning leftover cloud, san francisco, golden gate. that kind of thing 70 for oakland. 76 san jose in the big board there you have an example 80 going on for antioch up in the north bay, too. santa rosa catches up at 81. that's a big improvement from yesterday. east bay shoreline. meanwhile, is looking at the lower 70's next couple of days. now there's some work to be done there that happened base. still, some fog clouds hang out there, stephanie, and warming up nicely, though, the middle 80's. so already nice goldilocks type spring forecast in uk stuff for some folks like a cool and then warming up a bit for week. all

right. well, we caught goldilocks like weather. so it's just just write orange is just right under for. thanks so much, dave. >> oakland's mayor spoke with kron for news on how her office is responding to crime. >> she also gave us an update on how the city is handling homelessness. kron four's. catherine heenan reports for us. >> more people are accepting housing. the mayor talked about the fact that in the latest count, homelessness group by 9% in oakland. those numbers released just this week, but at least the rate is slowing down. 9% does not sound as drastic. when you consider the city's homeless population grew. 47% from 2017 to 2019. and 24% between 2019 and and so this 9% increase is actually a significant success shows that we are, you know, closing some of these >> homelessness issues. of

course, there's still so much to be done. i we can walk out the street still see encampments. and so that's our job is never done until everyone is brought inside in our streets. a in clear of encampments. >> she says oakland is working on making modular housing permanent and that federal housing help is coming in forms that are easier to when i advocate at the federal level for a voucher ys, we're advocating for playspace voucher so that it's easier for people to redo bc the section 8 vouchers that they don't have to go and find. >> a land where that would take it that attached to housing units. as for the improved crime numbers recently released one number not being celebrated is the fact that residential robbery is up 110%. >> that translates to 42 home robberies so far this year compared to 20 in the same period last year. >> you know, i know that it's like it's it sounds scary. when you say 110% increase.

but mind you, you know, you come from already a very small amount of numbers for you today. and and, you know, and the you know, tick in certain states certain categories, we're hyper focus on those categories. catherine heenan kron, 4 news. >> happening today, if you're looking for a way to get out and enjoy today's beautiful weather, there are some community events. you can check out. in the east bay. pets will be dressed to impress for the annual paul raid. pet walk in walnut creek, the organization, joy, bound around town on broadway invites you to take part in a one-mile walk around broadway plaza. you don't have to have a pet to participate. the event does raise money for animals who need loving homes in all. animal lovers are invited. it will be a pet festival and best dressed dog and cat contests following the parade at 11:30am. francisco the islands by the bay festival takes over your boy. gardens, the event celebrates asian pacific islander cultures, with music, poetry

and dancing 30 vendors showcase handmade, crafts and food. that happens from 11:00am to 04:00pm on the great lawn in the gardens. and san francisco's golden gate park hosts live music for the 140nd concert series of the golden gate park band. the group has performed live in the park for more than a century starting today or at 01:00pm. visitors can catch a live show at the spreckels temple of music in the park. musicians will be dressed up in bay to breakers fashions. so sounds like it's going to be quite some fun out there. and the website is helping people find out if their information was involved in a data breach. our rich demuro explains how it works and brings us tips on how to protect your information. >> another day, another data breach. here's a letter att recently sent to customers saying their information was released on the dark web. so when we say things like it saying you cannot be removed

from the 18th tee data breach because tens of thousands of people have it now because it's published only is that easily downloadable planning. troy hunt runs a website called have i been it's a way to check if your personal information and passwords have been exposed. as of tonight is 767,000 bridges in including leaks from facebook. adobe, linkedin, dropbox and more. problem is when your passwords exposed in a breach, hackers try to use it to log into other websites. mask order might add. it's time really, really volumes and suddenly because you've reused to pass cross someone's now into social media council whatever else it might be. we've few freeze as pensions, which is why it's so important to use a password manager to create strong, unique passwords for every site. so you never get remember 100 plus pass puts so that you make so produce ago. i got i like my dog and i went

done their part to protect children and teenagers online. it's time. >> these large corporations. have plenty of resources to do so step up. but he says he does not have faith in many social media companies and protecting minors online. that's why he introduced 2 bipartisan bills, including sb 14. 44 also known sami's law named for the late sammy chapman. the 16 year-old teen died 3 years ago after taking a pill he bought from a drug dealer on snapchat. that pill turned out to be laced with the deadly dose of fentanyl and the names. my son, let's save some lives with this legislation. sammy's father sam came to the capitol to urge support for sammy's law. it would allow parents to be involved in their kids online presence by bringing in third-party safety apps designed to monitor online activity. those apps will then notify parents upon finding dangerous content and potential harms online such bullying or drug deals. what i hope for is that sammy's legacy is a legacy of saving

other people. >> and that other people won't have to go through what his brother and his mother and myself had to suffer. but major tech companies are opposed in a statement tech net, a network of tech industry executives said safety is the number one priority for platforms adding third-party apps could pose issues quote, at a minimum, a 3rd party should not be able to unwind the many settings features parental controls policies. >> and protections platforms have created to ensure a safe environment for teen users. but stern and his colleagues say they will keep fighting, not just for sammy's law, but also for sb 15, 0, 4, a bill they argue will take on the issue of cyber bullying. the bill would require platforms to have a clear cyber bulling reporting button and provide written confirmation within 36 hours after a user has formally reported a cyber bullying incident, the platform is then make a written determination about its findings within 10 days if they fail to do so. platforms

could face a $75,000 daily penalty per violation users could also file legal action if platforms fail to respond. technet said the proposed penalties for violations are unduly burdensome, but bipartisan lawmakers who spoke here disagree. it is dangerous out there. it's imperative that we do our part as legislators to ensure that we have safety. we need to do more. >> just a start. and we want to make sure that we protect our children. >> and the bills are set to go before the senate appropriations committee later this week reporting at the state capitol, a tonn wallace kron. 4 news. >> a state bill that would have scrutinized a new electricity charge for californians will not move forward. the assembly appropriations committee killed that measure on friday. the public utilities commission led by governor gavin newsom's appointees approved a new fixed rate charge of $24.15 last week in exchange for paying the new fee, consumers get a lower rate for their power. california's power the second highest in the nation. the new

dissipating and hopefully maybe even taking care of that fog. by the time they reach the coast here is that was a problem area from yesterday. here's the east bay shoreline. you can see they're just a bit of haze, kind of left over as sun starts to fill up the the hills. as you can see, there are a bit. so what we have developing as high pressure so system is going to go around it. warmest day in the bunch. looks to be tuesday. now, not a major heat spike here. just a nice little bump here. little feel pretty good for springtime. we're going to backtrack into next weekend. however, that looks to be dry from our perspective. onshore winds, check-in and will have that same activity expected this evening to so it could be a little chilly breeze working at the coast this evening. so be careful and a little pop of some offshore winds developing solano county, maybe perhaps by tomorrow 50's for the most part over most the real estate. 48 up 15 out 59 going on for antioch and a 52. meanwhile for half moon bay, that is a few degrees behind yesterday's numbers. but we're catching up quickly compliments of the sun breaking out. so 69 by high noon to 3 o'clock, 74 be

pretty pleasant this afternoon in for much of the week. we'll have more on that forecast a bit, stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. >> our top story this morning. thousands of people are in san francisco right now for bay to breakers. runners are right now making their way from main street all the way to ocean beach. organizers have made some changes over the years for public safety than a parade floats and adding alcohol checkpoints. 21,000 people are signed up for this year's event. we heard from the race director, kylie myers. >> one of those days of the year in san francisco that everybody kind of supports the runners supports the neighborhoods are coming out. course, just a have a good time and celebrate francisco. >> several road closures remain in place until at least for the afternoon. bart and muni, both front special services today. more information on transportation and road closures are on our website. kron 4 dot com. in the east bay, 6 people in

antioch are recovering after a car crash on highway 4. this happened near delta gateway boulevard around 2 o'clock on saturday. the collision forcing all westbound lanes to close. the roadway is now back open. contra costa fire says 6 people were rushed to the hospital. no word yet on their conditions. all lanes of the bay bridge are back open today after a grass fire on your. one island, the incident held up traffic in both directions for hours as crews worked to put out that fire at one point on the eastbound lanes were closed. fire boats were also brought in to help out. crews say saturday, strong winds made the fire challenging to extinguish finally contained. the blaze around 6.45. on saturday chp arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal hit and run. police say a driver struck and killed someone wednesday night in san leandro. the victim was found lying in the street at luling boulevard and embers way police later found the car

wanted in connection with this incident on friday. the suspect was booked into the santa rita jail. bail was set $125,000. daly city police arrested a woman for stealing money from an old navy cash register. police say that this happened inside the serramonte shopping center earlier this month. the woman through the cash register on the ground. they say several times until it broke open. the woman then stole nearly $300 before running off. she was later detained at a nearby store. police arrested and booked the suspect for robbery. the california highway patrol canine sniffed out more than 500 grams of fentanyl during a traffic stop in san francisco. chp says and officer stopped a driver for a mechanical violation near westbound. i-80 last week police detained the driver for not having a license and that's when the officers canine partner smelled drugs in the car. well, thanks to the dog. chp seized more than 500 grams of fentanyl. 158 grams of meth.

73 grams of heroin and 80 grams of xanax. the driver was booked into jail on multiple drug charges. plans to build a high-speed rail line connecting san francisco to southern california cleared another hurdle. the la times reports california high-speed rail authority officials support latest recommendations for the 33 mile rail segment connecting anaheim's to los angeles as just part of the overall plan here. and that does clear the way for an environmental review, which is expected to take more than a year to finish. construction is already underway on 119 mile stretch of the rail line in the central valley. happening this weekend. 2 major roads in the bay area are partially closed as crews work on repairs. the eastbound lanes of highway 37 are shut down between sonoma and solano counties. crews have detours starting at the highway. 37 highway one. 21 interchange near sears point. the closure runs through 5 in the morning on monday. a portion of sik

morning, everybody. we are back and here's a live look at what's happening at the coast. this is always one of the problem. areas and half moon bay. >> that we see the cloud cover. the fog clouds kind of

remain. but there looks like they're getting a little thinner as we continue monitored all this morning. but just about everywhere else in the golden gate, u.s. start to open up already. this is what's going to greet the bay to breakers temperature. check for you. we've got the mid to upper 50's at this hour. 59 antioch, 56, meanwhile, conquered up to the north that are mostly in the lower 50's that's been trailing this morning. 58 going on for san jose, futurecast for whatever fog we have. most of that clears out. that's why there's hope for you. folks at the coast. don't forget that chilly breeze in the late afternoon. however, during the flare up in the afternoon, maybe some scattered clouds up in the hills mountains, rather. and then monday morning, that's the fog production. very, very quiet across the homefront here. maybe some showers try to develop monday afternoon with typical daytime heating with some leftover moisture in there. again. nice back home. tuesday is going to be probably the warmest day in the bunch in the afternoon as we see mid 80's inland or maybe degree or so beyond. that's what a nice little bump. it wouldn't call quite a heat spike. we've seen when

numbers thus far. futurecast winds on shore. they are late in the day, of course, picking up along the coast, particularly even as skies open. up course, that fog rolling back again. then a nice little switch happens, boom, offshore. you can see that's monday night. and again, it looks like by tuesday morning we'll do it again. so little pop of some offshore winds, no statements or anything with that. but sometimes red flag warnings can be issued for that. all right. looking pretty good at sfo to. better bay, for second bay to breakers better bay in coastal clearing, i guess a little work anyway. touch warmer to a lot of 70's for the east bay. again, near about 80 in a couple selective spots. keep klein continuing early week tuesday. warming quickly, warmest day in the bunch. 85 dish then late in the week. we start to cool off a little bit and some scattered clouds getting in here by saturday. looks like up maybe modestly on wednesday. but more important by saturday. now that front also looks dry. there's actually 2 or 3 of them coming down. that looks dry as well. but the one on saturday is

going to have more cloud cover, which kind of deal with and it will be cooler. noticeably 65 san francisco. again, some morning clouds are kind of taking care of already 70 for oakland. 76 san jose. there you have some of those warmer numbers off conquered 78, 80 antioch going 81 going on for santa rosa and with half moon bay. as a backdrop, there's the temperature climb with tuesday getting up to about 84. so little drop happening next weekend. stepped in get too attached. ok, alright. so i still have the light jacket and there we go. she's hank selected. >> well over mayor sheng thao spoke with kron for news on how her office is responding to crime. she also gave us an update on how the city's handling homelessness kron four's. catherine heenan reports. >> more people are accepting housing. the mayor talked about the fact that in the latest count, homelessness group by 9% in oakland. those numbers released just this week, but at least the rate is slowing down. 9% does not sound as drastic. when you

consider the city's homeless population grew. 47% from 2017 to 2019. and 24% between 2019 and and so this 9% increase is actually a significant success shows that we are, you know, closing some of these >> homelessness issues. of course, there's still so much to be done. i mean, we can walk out the street still see encampments. and so that's our job is never done until everyone is brought inside in our streets. a in clear of encampments. >> she says oakland is working on making modular housing permanent and that federal housing help is coming in forms that are easier to when i advocate at the federal level for a voucher ys, we're advocating for playspace voucher so that it's easier for people to redo bc the section 8 vouchers that they don't have to go and find. >> a landlord that would take it that attached to housing

units. as for the improved crime numbers recently released one number not being celebrated is the fact that residential robbery is up 110%. >> that translates to 42 home robberies so far this year compared to 20 in the same period last year. >> you know, i know that it's like it's it sounds scary. when you say 110% increase. but mind you, you know, you come from already a very small amount of numbers for you today. and and, you know, and this light it, you know, tick in certain states certain categories, we're hyper focus on those categories. catherine heenan kron, 4 news. >> happening today, if you're looking for a way to get out and enjoy today's beautiful weather, there are some community events to check out in the east bay. pets will be dressed to impress for the annual paul raid pet walk in walnut creek, the organization, joy bound around town on broadway invites you to take part it one mile, walk around broadway plaza. the

event raises money for animals who need loving homes. all animal lovers are invited to join. you don't have to have a pet to participate, but there will be a pet festival and best dressed dog and cat contests after the parade at 11:30am, and in san francisco, the islands by the bay festival takes over here. but one to gardens, the event celebrates asian pacific islander cultures, with music, poetry and dancing. 30 vendors showcase handmade, crafts and food. that happens from 11:00am to 04:00pm on the great lawn in the gardens. francisco's golden gate park host live music for the 140nd concert series of the golden gate park band. the group has performed live in the park for more than a century. starting today at 01:00pm. visitors can catch a live show at the spreckels temple of music in the park. musicians will be dressed up in bay to breakers fashion. and that makes complete sense as the big race has already kicked off just about 20 minutes ago, a

website is helping people find out if their information was involved in a data breach. which demero explains how it works and brings us these tips on how to protect your information. >> another day, another data breach. here's a letter att recently sent to customers saying their information was released on the dark web. so when we say things like it in saying you cannot be removed from the 18 data breach because tens of thousands of people have it now because it's published only that easily downloadable planning. troy hunt runs a website called have i been it's a way to check if your personal information and passwords have been exposed. as of tonight is 767,000 bridges in including leaks from facebook. adobe, linkedin, dropbox and more. problem is when your password is exposed in a breach, hackers try to use it to log into other websites mass automated. it's time really,

social media companies accountable with a new set of bills they say will protect children. our capitol correspondent eytan wallace brings us the latest. i'm >> i'm outraged that's why we're going hard here. los angeles, democratic senator henry stern sharing frustration with social media companies, he says have not done their part to protect children and teenagers online. it's time these large corporations. have plenty of resources to do so step up. but he says he does not have faith in many social media companies and protecting minors online. that's why he introduced 2 bipartisan bills, including sb 14. 44 also known as sami's law named for the late sammy chapman. the 16 year-old teen died 3 years ago after taking a pill he bought from a drug dealer on snapchat. that pill turned out to be laced with the deadly dose of fentanyl and the names. my son, let's save some lives with this legislation. sammy's father sam came to the

capitol to urge support for sammy's law. it would allow parents to be involved in their kids online presence by bringing in third-party safety apps designed to monitor online activity. those apps will then notify parents upon finding dangerous content and potential harms online such as bullying or drug deals. what i hope for is that sammy's legacy is a legacy of saving other people. >> and that other people won't have to go through what his brother and his mother and myself have had to suffer. but major tech companies are opposed in a statement tech net, a network of tech industry executives said safety is the number one priority for platforms adding third-party apps could pose issues quote, at a minimum, a 3rd party should not be able to unwind the many settings features parental controls policies. >> and protections platforms have created to ensure a safe environment for teen users. but stern and his colleagues say they will keep fighting, not just for sammy's law, but also for sb 15, 0, 4, a bill

they argue will take on the issue of cyber bullying. the bill would require platforms to have a clear cyber bulling reporting button and provide written confirmation within 36 hours after a user has formally rorted a cyber bullying incident, the platform was then make a written determination about its findings within 10 days if they fail to do so. platforms could face a $75,000 daily penalty per violation users could also file legal action if platforms failed to respond. technet said the proposed penalties for violations are unduly burdensome, but bipartisan lawmakers who spoke here disagree. it is dangerous out there. it's imperative that we do our part as legislators to ensure that we have safety. we need to do more. >> just a start. and we want to make sure that we protect our children. >> and the bills are set to go before the senate appropriations committee later this week reporting at the state capitol, a tonn wallace kron. 4 news. >> a state bill that would have scrutinized a new

electricity charge for californians will not move forward. the assembly appropriations committee killed that measure on friday. the public utilities commission led by governor gavin newsom's appointees approved a new fixed rate charge of $24.15 last week exchange for paying the new fee, consumers get a lower rate for their power. california's power rates on the second highest in the nation the new fee sparked outrage, which is why that bill was introduced in the first place. the committee did not explain why they killed it. and staying at the state capitol, california lawmakers, well, they chose not to advance a bill to legalize psychedelic mushrooms. that bill failed to advance out of its senate committee this past week. state senator scott wiener was behind the regulated psychedelic assisted therapy, et it would have allowed licensed professionals to give psychedelic mushrooms to patients over. 21 years old. and four's honoring asian american pacific islander heritage month in san pablo.

little waves that will come through kind of piercing through this high-pressure zone over the course of the next week. and that will have a little the change in our temperatures a little bit now for the winds. they're mostly single digits, but they will pick up this afternoon evening and also a little bit into tomorrow as well. so the coastal areas will be definitely feeling the chilly wind mid to upper 50's some lower 60's off to the east bay like antioch at 62. 61. meanwhile for san jose still trailing at this hour. but as we start to see the sun join us and start to clear out some of the fog will warm up nicely. looks like a high. and near 80 in some spots. but 69 by high noon, we're 70 to 1 o'clock. 4 o'clock at 74. so looking pretty good for a lot of the east bay locations to what a complete look at your forecast coming up in a bit 70. dave, thank you. >> our top story this morning. thousands of people are in san francisco right now for bay to breakers. the race is officially underway. runners are making their way from main street all the way to ocean beach. organizers have made some changes over the years for public safety. danny

parade floats and adding alcohol checkpoints. 21,000 people are signed up for this year's events and we heard from race director kyle meyers. >> one of those days of the year in san francisco that everybody kind of supports the runners supports the neighborhoods are coming out. course, just to have a good time and celebrate francisco. >> several road closures remain in place until at least for the afternoon. bart and muni both run special services today. more information on transportation and road closures right now on our website, kron 4 dot com. in the east bay, 6 people in antioch are recovering after a car crash on highway 4. this happening near delta gateway boulevard around 2 o'clock on saturday. the collision forcing all westbound lanes to close. the roadway is now back open. contra costa fire says that 6 people were rushed to the hospital. no word yet on their conditions. all lanes of

the bay bridge are back open today after this grass fire on your of one island. the incident held up traffic in both directions for hours as crews worked to put out that fire at one point, all eastbound lanes were closed. fire boats were also brought in to help out. crews say saturday, strong winds made the fire challenging to extinguish cruz finally contained the blaze around 6.45. on saturday. the chp arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal hit and run. police say a driver struck and killed someone wednesday night in san leandro. the victim was found lying in the street at luling boulevard and embers way. police later found the car wanted in connection with that incident on friday. the suspect was booked into santa rita jail. bail set for $125,000. and daly city police arrested a woman for stealing money from an old navy cash

register. police say the theft happened inside the serramonte shopping center earlier this month. the woman apparently through the cash register on the ground several times until it broke open. the woman then stole nearly $300 before running off. she was later detained at a nearby store. police arrested and booked the suspect for robbery. the california highway patrol canine sniffed out more than 500 grams of fentanyl during a traffic stop in san francisco. chp says an officer stopped a driver for a mechanical violation. you're westbound i-80 last week police detained the driver for not having a license and that's when the officers canine partner smelled drugs in the car. well, thanks to the dog. chp seized more than 500 grams of fentanyl. 158 grams of meth. 73 grams of heroin. and 80 grams of xanax. the driver was booked into jail on multiple drug charges. and plans to build a high-speed rail line connecting san francisco to southern california cleared

another hurdle. the la times reports california high-speed rail authority official support latest recommendations for the 33 mile rail segment connecting anaheim to los angeles. and that's just part of the overall plan here. but it does clear the way for an environmental review, which is expected to take more than a year to finish. construction is already underway on 119 mile stretch of the rail line in the central valley. happening this weekend. 2 major roads in the bay area are partially closed as crews work on repairs. the eastbound lanes of highway 37 or shut down between sonoma and solano counties whose have detours starting at the highway. 37 highway one. 21 interchange near sears point. the closure runs through 5 in the morning on monday. a portion of 6 ad is also closed this weekend as a paving project continues there. caltrans says the work affects southbound 6.80, between acosta boulevard in san ramon and the 5, 86, 80 connector in pleasanton lanes

the sandwich portion of it was a taiwanese pineapple cake. and then, you middle it was this delicious black lung t i could not get that flavor out of my mind. you i came back kept telling my husband's like needs to be an ice here because i miss it and need it. and so my favorite ice cream shop is actually reach them like, hey, i love your ice cream and i know you guys can do amazing things with possibly this new flavor that i have in mind and just like that they created magic. and here we a variable has been in just like a dream come stick. and robin, what was your reaction when kathy reached out to you with this idea? honestly, we're up with such a big fan of and, you know, i think ice cream is really about. >> capturing special moments and bringing people together around them. and when she but at this, the soundcheck moment that you wanted to bring to more people is like, yes,

let's do it. and that's we make. all right. come fashionably. you know, the possibilities masso was honestly just like a really perfect partnership that was like just the magic came alive. so yeah, we love that. i'm such a fan of spending as well. been to your hayes valley location. i think it was the one of the do you know? number days like when you guys first open like i still have photos getting in there with my ice cream first of kind. and it was just like. >> great, great fun thank you. it really is so unique. the process that you go through to create your ice cream so kind of walk us through how the idea went from concept to physical product. sure. so kathy brought the idea and then our amazing culinary director, brooke mosley actually made. >> but that really was like made the actual cake and

cookie interesting ticks were trying to capture the right taste and a taste that and then she used in all of her skills to turn that into a flavor, knowing everything that she knows about how we actually formulated ice cream and how it comes together. as a natural flavors, you can see the clusters ok? well, you know, since we're referencing this, is it okay if we casey we can taste a little bit of this? >> oh, my goodness. so good. and all for it to yeah. okay. i'm going to have koat. haha. >> oh ya. >> as someone who is taiwanese american who's had the pineapple teague cake and all delicious. like delicious. it's a little bit of like pastry in team. >> it's kind of the perfect and the beauty of doing it

with cement is like they can turn these fresh ingredients into the ice cream base and you can still taste. >> the actual faith, the pineapple, tea cake and even the pineapple this down they want to honestly new breakfast. yeah, breakfast ice cream. i really love that. and to be clear for people who are interested in trying this out can they sample it work and they pick you know, pick up some for themselves. yeah. so you can order this off doordash. it reads all the delivery apps and then you could also go visit the store, which is what i recommend, ok? like that. the whole idea of bringing community together and bringing people together. it's and oriented going have ice cream and hang especially on beautiful days like this and the containers really cute even better. you can buy pine or you can get a couple of scoops and have it in their amazing waffle cone right now.

i can smell it kind of just. >> oh, that's so much fun. air since we have both of you here and you're both experts in your field in the food space. what would you say is the secret to the perfect ice cream? >> a really good ice cream since we are heading into the summer months. okay. i'm going to go first to she's the expert. means all about texture and like the balance of flavor. i don't want something that's like overly sui. i want something that feels of a flash. i can take like taste the milk cream eggs, everything. and then i like it to be a little nuanced re like but different textures of creamy ice cream in the bite, something that's maybe crunchy. something that has a little chew to it just makes them more interesting just a standard ice cream well said. i would add that. so there's 2 things. one ice cream is really a feeling, you don't

eat ice cream to like just get through the day. a scheme to savor the moment and to really relish and that. and so i do think that flavors like this, where it is really like an intersection of memory and taste are really that quintessential and to them bring it together and ryally make this thing to to savor. and then secondly, on like a technical i agree so much has to do with the texture of the ice cream and the density of it and how it sort of melt in your mouth. and so i kind of got pretty obsessed with making that textures fast as possible, which is why and i spent most of those are both my life. inventing arbor machine, which is the whole. the whole reason behind it was really to make that perfect scoop. with of texture that just lifts up that the product and makes it as best they can be. so yeah, i'm not the

combat. wonderful. and you have what some want to add something to that as well going to add. one more thing obviously like the first time i fell in love with ice cream is actually going into the shop. >> but i didn't realize how great it was. also like in pint form at home. i think sometimes people don't think about that like what is the texture like when you get home and it's up high and you skip in. and a lot of times, it actually changes over time being in the pipe just really hard. sometimes it crystallizes it doesn't have that same creamy texture that you get from the actual shop and smitten, actually delivered like it pretty much the same thing as what i would get. i not so a nice into it at home. i'm like, oh, wow. this is like still very creamy. just like high would get that shot versus we go out. now you guys go light industrial made ice cream and you can be like, oh, that's

we're going hard here. los angeles democratic senator henry stern sharing frustration with social media companies, he says have not done their part to protect children and teenagers online. it's time. >> these large corporations. have plenty of resources to do so step up. but he says he does not have faith in many social media companies and protecting minors online. that's why he introduced 2 bipartisan bills, including sb 14. 44 also known sami's law named for the late sammy chapman. the 16 year-old teen died 3 years ago after taking a pill he bought from a drug dealer on snapchat. that pill turned out to be laced with the deadly dose of fentanyl and the names. my son, let's save some lives with this sam came to the capitol to urge support for sammy's law. it would allow parents to be involved in their kids online presence by bringing in third-party safety apps designed to monitor online activity. those apps will then notify parents upon finding

dangerous content and potential harms online such bullying or drug deals. what i hope for is that sammy's legacy is a legacy of saving other people. >> and that other people won't have to go through what his brother and his mother and myself had to suffer. but major tech companies are opposed in a statement tech net, a network of tech industry executives said safety is the number one priority for platforms adding third-party apps could pose issues quote, at a minimum, a 3rd party should not be able to unwind the many settings features parental controls policies. >> and protections platforms have created to ensure a safe environment for teen users. but stern and his colleagues say they will keep fighting, not just for sammy's law, but also for sb 15, 0, 4, a bill they argue will take on the issue of cyber bullying. the bill would require platforms to have a clear cyber bulling reporting button and provide written confirmation within 36 hours after a user has formally reported a cyber

bullying incident, the platform is then make a written determination about its findings within 10 days if they fail to do so. platforms could face a $75,000 daily penalty per violation users could also file legal action if platforms failed to respond. technet said the proposed penalties for violations are unduly burdensomep but bipartisan lawmakers who spoke here disagree. it is dangerous out there. it's imperative that we do our part as legislators to ensure that we have safety. we need to do more. >> just a start. and we want to make sure that we protect our children. >> and the bills are set to go before the senate appropriations committee later this week reporting at the state capitol, a tonn wallace kron. 4 news. >> a state bill that would have scrutinized a new electricity charge for californians will not move forward. the assembly appropriations committee killed that measure on friday. the public utilities commission led by governor gavin newsom's appointees approved a new fixed rate

temperatures and all that. that's about all will put to that may have to get some raindrops. we get a little closer, will keep that drive going late in the season for got it. we know i'll take it, ok, if take so much tape. >> all right. well, oakland's mayor spoke with kron for news on how her office is responding to crime. >> she also gave us an update on how the city's handling homelessness. catherine heenan reports. >> more people are accepting housing. the mayor talked about the fact that in the latest count, homelessness grow by 9% in oakland. those numbers released just this week, but at least the rate is slowing down. 9% does not sound as drastic. when you consider the city's homeless population grew. 47% from 2017 to 2019. and 24% between 2019 and and so this 9% increase is actually a significant success shows that we are, you know, closing some of these

>> homelessness issues. of course, there's still so much to be done. i mean, we can walk out the street still see encampments. and so that's our job is never done until everyone is brought inside in our streets. a in clear of encampments. >> she says oakland is working on making modular housing permanent and that federal housing help is coming in forms that are easier to when i advocate at the federal level for a voucher, we're advocating for playspace voucher so that it's easier for people to redo bc the section 8 vouchers that they don't have to go find. >> a landlord that would take it that attached to housing units. as for the improved crime numbers recently released one number not being celebrated is the fact that residential robbery is up 110%. >> that translates to 42 home robberies so far this year compared to 20 in the same period last year. >> you know, i know that it's like it's it sounds scary. when you say 110% increase.

asian pacific islander cultures, with music, poetry and dancing. 30 vendors showcase handmade, crafts and food. that happens from 11:00am to 04:00pm on the great lawn in the gardens. as francisco's golden gate park hosts live music for the 140nd concert series of the golden gate park band. the group has performed live in the park for more than a century in today, starting at 01:00pm. visitors can catch a live show at the spreckels temple of music in the park. musicians will be dressed up in bay to breakers fashion. so that should be fun to see. a website is helping people find out if their information was involved in a data breach. rich demuro explains how it works and brings us these tips on how to protect your information. >> another day, another data breach. here's a letter 18 t recently sent to customers saying their information was released on the dark web. so when we say things like 18 saying you cannot be removed from the att data breach

because tens of thousands of people have it now because it's published on the inc that and it's easily downloadable planning. troy hunt runs a website called have i been it's a way to check if your personal information and passwords have been exposed. as of tonight is 767,000 bridges in including leaks from facebook, adobe, linkedin, dropbox and more. problem is when your password is exposed in a breach, hackers try to use it to log into other websites. mass automated. it's time really, really volumes and suddenly because you've reused to pass cross someone's now into social media council, whatever else it might we've few freeze as pensions, which is why it's so important to use a password manager to create strong, unique passwords for every site. so you never get remember 100 plus pass puts so that you make. so what most people doesn't about. i like my dog and i went to
