>> now at 11 san jose police responding to an active shooter this afternoon. that man now in the hospital with life-threatening injuries. good evening and thanks for joining us for kron. 4 news at 11. i'm dan thorn that developing news in the south bay tonight as san jose police responded to a man who was shooting a gun. this happened on kolmar drive just after 4 o'clock this afternoon in front of the k and k apartments which is close to the ryen steam academy, which is an elementary school. the person shooting the gun was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after getting shot by a police officer. we're told no officers were hit by gunfire and a gun was recovered at the scene. police say they're going to be there for several more hours as they continue their investigation. the sentencing hearing for david de pap the man who attacked nancy pelosi's husband has been reopened. the court said

it did not give it up at the chance to make a statement before he was sentenced on friday. that is a requirement for federal criminal procedures. prosecutors notified the court after noticing the mistake, the paps lawyers filed an appeal the same day. the error is likely to not affect his 30 year sentence, but it does give them a chance to ask for some sort of leniency that hearing will resume on may 28th. new at 11 police arrest. a man in petaluma accused of shooting and killing a 2 year-old boy in clear lake police believe 31 year-old fernando lugo garcia shot the child at a party back on march. 23rd following an investigation. police issued a warrant for murder for garcia, according to the sonoma county sheriff's office. he was arrested in petaluma last tuesday. garcia is now being held in the lake county jail with no bail set. i know for your morning commute to major roads in the

bay area are right now. partially closed as crews are working on the repairs, but they will reopen in just a few hours. the eastbound lanes highway 37 have been closed between sonoma and solano counties. crews have had detour is set up at the highway. 37 highway one. 21 interchange near sears point. that closure, though, is going to be lifted at 5 o'clock tomorrow morning. and a portion of 6 ad has been closed this weekend as a paving project has been going on. caltrans says this work has been affecting 6.80, between all costa boulevard in san ramon and the 5, 86, 80 connector in pleasanton. those lanes will reopen at 4 o'clock tomorrow morning. this partial closure is one of 2 with another set for the weekend of may 31st. all right. let's get you a check. your 4 zone forecast tonight as we're taking a look at the financial district in san francisco get along. joining us with a look at the forecast, a hello, dan.

and good evening, everyone. we are warming at this week. so >> expect a lot of sunshine tuesday. looks like to be one of the warmest days inland, expected to reach the 80's. so here is sfo. you could see a partly cloudy out there. it's a pretty quiet weather pattern. we will be in for the next couple of flow 50's right now in the san francisco and a low 50's in half moon bay, the south bay close to 60 degrees. so we're pretty mild at this 11:00pm hour and overnight lows expect some mild temperatures to start your monday. we do have a bit of a breeze here that sea breeze and point raised 30 miles per hour 12 over at san francisco, 20 in concord. it should come down overnight, but it is clearing things out. as you can see that that was the case for much of the day here. so look ahead at the start of your week. expect upper 70's and 80's as you make your way into tuesday inland, low 70's .pby the bay and low 60's by th coast. back to you. all right. thanks a lot.

>> some developing news tonight overseas. iranian state-run media reporting that no survivors have been found at the crash site of the helicopter that was carrying iran's president. ibrahim, you right? scene after a roughly 15 hours of searching. rescuers finally located that helicopter in a mountainous region in or on iranian state media blaming the crash on bad weather. country's foreign minister along with 7 other people. we're also on board. the helicopter was coming back from the dedication of a dam near a different border. this comes as the president is delivering or had delivered a commencement address from morehouse college in atlanta this morning and was his first major appearance and from college students since protests over the war in gaza have spread on campuses all across the country. gaynor hall has more. >> at the commencement ceremony today for morehouse college. some graduates turned their backs while president biden spoke a silent protest over his handling on the war

fantastic time. definitely saw all of san francisco coming together. a lot of the clock ticked rooms, the costumes at the quirky 12 k run never disappoint this san francisco couple. gina and brad dressed up as hot dogs. we money and really recognizable really will raise and everyone was dog and my kids than ever. and it's just plain that these girls dressed up as the inflatable tube man. often people dress up in group costumes, whether it be traffic cones or minions was really fun. everyone came out out it's a super >> yeah, really good vibe. lots of partying on the side. bay to breakers at its peak used to be the largest road race in the world with 100,000 people participating. race director kyle meyers says they're starting to see registration numbers rebound from the pandemic. 21,000 people registered this year, which is 20% from last year. so not quite.

alto police are investigating a another robbery of a mail carrier. postal inspectors say happened thursday just before noon in the parking lot of the south with apartments on middlefield road. police say the postal service worker, a man in his 60's with delivering mail when 2 men approached him and demanded his postal keys. wallet and his phone. the postal worker turned over the keys, but he refused to give up his personal items. and that's when police say a fistfight ensued. suspects knocked the victim to the ground, injuring him. police are looking for 2 men who took off older model nissan altima. decades after

really tell what the weather's like with the shot. it's just eliminated. pillar in the darkness fell on giving us a gayle. >> hello what we do have some patchy clouds over by the san francisco peninsula. but we are mostly clear, actually. and you can expect some sunshine tomorrow. it's going to feel like summer, especially over for you inland where tuesday looks like we'll be reaching the 80's. so we'll see how that goes. but does expect a nice warming trend and a quick heat. spike tip so you can see clouds, some patchy clouds there over by the east bay hills. and then you can see our satellite and radar are pretty quiet. we've been in this quiet weather pattern for quite some time. you know, we did have some breezy conditions over the weekend and that's helped clear things out. so you can see our future cast model pretty much clear for your early morning drive. and then yeah, can tell you as they make way through the afternoon and evening, we're pretty clear as well. so that make room for some sunshine overnight. lows are expected to be mild as well in the

upper 40's and low 50's bay area wide and here are the forecast highs. you could see upper 70's close to 80's as well. so you may see some 80's in places like concord, maybe livermore and santa rosa, 77 for you in san jose. 74 in hayward the coast, though, you will remain seasonably cool in the upper 50's and low 60's for half moon bay. the beaches and san francisco. 72 for you in mill valley and we will have some winds. so it is pretty breezy along the coastline that sea breezes picking up tonight. and then as we take you through the overnight hours that peaks, we'll see a pop in the 20's. we will see some calm wind speeds early on monday and then towards the late afternoon and the 06:00pm hour that sea breeze returns the return of onshore flow will cool. slightly cool things down. but as you can see, it's really mainly the coast and the higher peaks. will feel refreshing in the teens as you make your way inland. and a 7 day outlook here. notice all the sunshine so tuesday, just

look out for that. if you're sensitive to the heat inland because we could see the 80's, the bay and coast, though you will remain seasonably cool in the upper a low 70's and upper 60's. and then the main next weather headline will be the lower temperatures the end of next weekend for the memorial day holiday, ok? but it looks like if you're going to enjoy things during the day, we're going to be alright. yes, exactly comfortable. you know, low 60's, not bad. all right, jim, thank you. >> well, headliners for san francisco's a carnival festival were unveiled today. the 2 day festival will feature 60 musical performances, including noelle torres, bonded blanca and franco. the event is the city's yearly celebration of latin american and caribbean culture. the festival in the in the mission district features food and crafts as well as music. that all wraps up the grand parade. a new study shows that san jose is the top city for small businesses. the analysis was done by financing company biz.
