are generally calm out of the north and west breezy a stout towards the delta this morning temperatures are on the rise under all that sun. we're now in the mid 60's to even low 70's that the warmest currently fairfield and vacaville at 73. and 74 oakland and berkeley in the upper 50's later today. it's all about the 70's to low 80's for your highs. a warmer afternoon than yesterday tomorrow. just a bit warmer before we actually cool down the rest of the week, which i'll talk about your full forecast. daria, thank you, john. at 10 o'clock, the developing stories in the south bay where police ended up shooting and critically injuring a gunman in san jose. >> kron four's michael thomas is live there with more on what happened. michael? >> well, this has been the scene really since 4 o'clock yesterday. take a look. police are still here more than 15 hours later investigating this. what they said were calls about a man who was shooting. and you can see this is behind an apartment complex. but before we give you those details, take a look. this is a map on your screens. you can see exactly

where we are at an east san jose on homer drive near the intersection of story road in capitol expressway. this is video that we just got within the hour. you can see there there's a van that silver van seems to be part of this entire situation with that window completely shattered. according to police yesterday, they got calls at around 4 o'clock where a man shooting and actively shooting a firearm. when they did arrive. police did shoot that man causing him serious injuries. he was taken to a nearby hospital and this is video from the scene yesterday around 4 o'clock. as of this morning, we have no word on his condition. we haven't gotten any updates on what caused the incident. police say no officers were injured and the department is expected to hold a press conference later today at 3 o'clock. again, this is video of that fan that they were investigating. not only that van, but also they were looking at the police cruiser which was parked behind the van. back out here live. this is the alleyway of that apartment complex. and you can see it's still closed off. those vehicles were taken away with the tow truck. both that

minivan and the police cruiser. so one could say we believe that they're both involved in that situation as they were under that investigation this morning and taken away for evidence. but again, we're not going to do anything until 3 o'clock this afternoon, which is almost 24 hours from when this incident happened. so as we get more information, we'll continue to keep you updated. darnell, send it back to you for. all right. thanks a lot. thank you for all those details, michael, 10. 0, 2 right now. >> and now we have more details to about the arrest of a man who's connected to a fatal shooting of a 2 year-old in lake county. a 2 year-old child was shot and killed on march 23rd in clear lake and clearlake police issued a warrant for 31 year-old fernando lugo garcia. he was arrested last week in petaluma and now he has been transported to the lake county jail. no bail has been set. the man who attacked paul pelosi in a san francisco home in 2022. with a hammer. is

going to be re-sentenced later this month for his conviction, david de pap was sentenced to 30 years in prison last week, but it turns out there was an error where he was not given the chance to make a statement. and that is required by law. so they are going to get that done. they don't think it will affect the sentencing, but hearing will happen. john, let me see what date that is. may 28. as you may know, that was one trial but did faces a state trial as well. and the jury selection for that is going to happen on wednesday. sad morning for raider nation. mister rader himself, jim otto died yesterday. the hall of fame center join the team for its first season in the american football league. back in 1960, and he never missed a game. he competed in 210 consecutive regular season games and 308 straight total contest despite the fact that he had on the go

9 operations on his knees during his playing career. pretty incredible. jim otto was just 86 years old. he will. a man was rescued after he was thrown from his car which went over a cliff off of the sonoma coast. take a look at the scene of this crash. luckily the car was discovered yesterday morning in jewel gulch myers. great area off. >> it's near jenner and a ranger spotted the car. look at this. it's 200 feet down the cliff side off of the roadway. and so it just hit a trees. so the car stopped, but the man who was driving was ejected. cruise ended up searching for about 45 minutes in the end of finding that, ma'am, laying in a patch of brush watch. lee wasn't in the car. he was 350 feet down from the crash site. look at the way down that it is or how far up. you can see they had to rescue him. he was hoisted up and flown to a hospital. he is expected to be okay. teachers

in contra costa county, every state tentative deal with the office of education for a new contract. the contra costa county educators association. >> is going to raise the workers. day union has got got this raise when it's ratified. it's a 6% raise retroactive to last july and a one percent raise for this year. and that deal allows for the salary for next school year to be renegotiated for the cost of living adjustment. >> channel 5 this morning. a lot of tired people that participated and have a lot of fun in the bay to breakers about 21,000 runners walkers, lots in cost, which is always a lot of fun. and sara stinson was in the middle of it. >> thousands of people woke up early sunday for bay to breakers. the race is 113 year-old tradition in san francisco. you know, i think it's probably one of the

state bill that would have scrutinized a new electricity charge for californians that's not moving forward, which means the genie is indeed going to be able to tack on that. $24 fee or electric bill pretty soon. the assembly appropriations committee killed the measure that was going to look at this. the public utilities commission, which is led by governor newsom's appointees, approved a new fixed flat fee of $24.15 a month to add to your electricity bill. and in exchange, the electric company will lower the rate for power just by a little bit. so no matter what you can serve, you've got this extra fee that's going to be on your bill. california's power rates are the second highest in the nation. that new fees sparked outrage, which is why the bill was introduced. but it didn't make it in. the committee did not explain why they killed it. happening now, fairfield is launching their click it or

general. >> highs only in the 60's to 70's daria. >> thanks a lot, john. it is 10, 17 and a pedestrian has died after being hit by a vehicle in contra costa county last night. this happened on will w pass road and point set avenue in bay point a black suv struck a person there and the driver did remain at the scene and cooperated with officers. we're not sure about charges if any. we just know that that person died. palo alto police are investigating because there was another robbery of a mail carrier and it happened thursday. it was in palo alto, the parking lot of southwood apartments on middlefield road. the postal carrier, 60 year-old man. he was delivering the mail when 2 men approached him and they demanded his postal keys and his belongings he turned over the keys, but then put up a fight when it came to his personal stuff. he ended up being not down to the ground and he was injured and the 2 robbers got away in an older model. nissan altima. take a a

proud puppy. this is a california highway patrol canine who sniffed out all all the stuff you see here, 500 grams of fentanyl. it was a traffic stop in san francisco. so he's at the podium there with all the stuff that was seized by the police. they stopped a driver for a mechanical violation on westbound 80 last week and look at what they found. thanks to this canine. he sniffed out, although these drugs and they ended up seizing 500 grams of fentanyl 150 grams of meth. 73 grams of heroin. 18 grams of xanax and the weapon, the gun. you see there, the driver was arrested. speaking of canines, if you want to keep your dog or cat healthy hospitals could be pretty expensive. what about pet insurance? maybe you've considered it. david lazarus takes a closer look at how much it costs. >> meet zoe. she's 12 years old and lost an eye to cancer and related complications last year. the total veterinary

the pandemic. so the mayor is now out there promoting antioch, strategic trade, economic strengths and potential job opportunities. the group working to build a new utopian city in solano county says they can provide more than 15,000 jobs in the next decade. california forever says they can bring employers from multiple sectors, including anything, everything from construction companies, 2 ai and tech and they came out with this list of the companies they say are already committed to employing and inside proposed city if it happens and you can see some of the names of the companies they're on on the graphic there. they say that there are still a few years away from breaking ground and they need approval. but if so, they say these companies are already started negotiating their terms they're going to be a ballot measure on this. so you can vote and we'll see if it passes in this year's november election. san jose state

they now identify this man as 48 year-old raheem co and they haven't said how he died. just that they were not able to save him. they haven't said foul play is involved. they're investigating. >> fireboat action. you don't get to see this a very often what a great shot and what a great job they did on putting this fire this was eastbound lanes. the babers were closed on saturday as they were putting out this grass fire on your bill. buena island. and traffic was held up. a look at the crews. they got out there. the fire boats are out there. they got on the ground they got this fire out. strong winds made it a little more difficult, but they were able to do so pretty cool to see them action in the north bay. police are investigating because a woman was shot and killed in vallejo. saturday was saturday night on redwood parkway near hands. park. the police got to the scene and they found the woman had been shot and there was a man who had been shot as well. she

died at the scene. he was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive right now. they're trying investigate and figure out who killed who and why and how. and they haven't said anything about the shooter, a nonprofit and is struggling to meet the demand and support local families. they need food donations conference. philippe djegal has more. >> every little bit helps neighbors dropping off food donations. corporations offering cash, volunteers giving their and a dedicated committed to fighting hunger in vallejo. it's really the community driving this and and supporting it. that makes it happen. mary and dogs and her husband, benjamin co-founded faith, food fridays in 2011. >> the non profit accepts donation drop-offs and offers volunteer opportunities. 7 days a week at its pantry on salon away. it hosts food, distributions 3 times a week giving out at least 10,000

pounds of food. on those days, we would never in our entire history. you run out of food after distribution. and we've done that consistently for the last 4 months eggs says it has been a struggle lately. keeping the refrigerators school and even the lights turned because donations all around are down. despite the demand for services jumping at least 50% since the start of the pandemic monetarily and food supplies. plus, we well, a lot of volunteers behind me, but we need more faith food, fridays partners with the food bank of contra costa in-salon serving as a distributor. the organization also provides groceries to homeless vallejo city unified school district's students to keep them fed when schools closed school district academic support providers here logan pix, the food every week and the 2 of them look forward to it. and it's not just because they receive a bad, but i believe because it does them. >> and help them over the
