its fremont boulevard from thorton avenue all the way to peralta boulevard that are closed right now. >> so you're asked to avoid the area. they say that roads going to be closed for several hours. kron four's michael thomas is actually on his way to the scene, will bring us the latest. >> in a live report. stay tuned for that. and another big story that we're following on the south bay. we're learning new details this morning about the shooting that involved police in san jose. officers say they shot a man who had a gun crime force. jack moment has the story. well, the shooting here that happened sunday in the seaside san jose apartment complex is the 3rd officer-involved shooting to happen so far this year having city leaders want to look further into these officer-involved shootings when they do happen. it also has residents here at this apartment complex, a concern. >> it all started with a 9-1-1 call people living at this east side. san jose complex reporting a man shooting a gun outside his van. he was later identified as 41 year-old ricardo view. every out and by the time police arrived shortly after 4 in the

the coming days. i will bring together a group of internal and external partners for the purpose of analyzing these attacks. now, san jose police says that the shooting is still very much under investigation. questions as to why the shooting happened in the first place or why neighbors called saying that there was a man shooting out of his van. those are still yet to be determined. meantime, the every hour remains in the hospital in critical condition where he said san jose jack moment. >> kron 4 news at 603. and san jose and says salling. 33 new high speed cameras in late 2025. the trying to see if the cameras will help reduce high-speed collision. so they'll be and solve next year. this year, the city council is deciding where to put there vote on that this fall. the goal is for the cameras to be evenly spread around the city to make communities of color and low-income neighborhoods safer, make sure that they get cameras for the first 60 days of the program. drivers will just get a warning. after that, though, there will be

fines and low-income drivers will be asked to provide community service hours instead of paying. city leaders say that law enforcement will not have access to the camera footage for any other reason. the cameras will only be used to enforce speed limits. >> in san leandro, police arrest a 13 year-old boy charging him with the deadly stabbing of an 18 year-old. police say that stabbing happened at the bancroft avenue location in early april. they say surveillance video revealed a 13 year-old was the attacker and they say bh ams had a dispute before the 13 year-old stabbed the victim in the chest and arm. the young suspect was arrested last week at his high school. >> time now 605. and today, san francisco city officials and nurses at zuckerberg, san francisco general hospital are going to announce new legislation to address a nursing shortage. it's a ballot measure that would specifically address the shortage of nurses and 9-1-1, operators, the legislation they say would improve the retention and recruitment of

these essential workers and it would let full-time registered nurses buyback time worked as per diem nurses for retirement credits, it would also give 9-1-1 operators, the same safety retirement benefits as other first responders get if approved. this measure will be on the november ballot for voters to approve or not a press conference announcing the details of this legislation is set for 10 o'clock this morning outside the bank of america plaza on the trail avenue. and also today, more than 200 rideshare and delivery drivers for uber lyft. doordash will rally outside the california supreme court in san francisco. this is the high court considers a legal challenge to prop 22 prop. 22 says the drivers for these types of companies are independent contractors and they're not therefore entitled to benefits after the law passed, a lower court ruled it was unconstitutional. but that

ruling was later reversed. this decision has been appealed. and now the state's highest court is hearing the case. workers say they don't support the measure because it denies them the ability to make a living wage and they say denies basic rights like paid sick leave and overtime which are afforded it to other workers in california. the rally is at 12, 30 in front of the california supreme court. >> well, 2 robbery suspects were arrested last night after police say they stole money and a car in the city. but the suspect ran into something unexpected as they were trying to get away from police. officers say the robbery took place in soma overnight at 8th and folsom streets. ficers say they found the suspects in the stolen car but when they tried to pull them over, they led them on a chase that eventually and crashing into a driverless car on folsom and 14th right now. the costco there, both suspects were taken to the hospital for non life threatening injuries. and san ramon now has been arrested in connection with a

freeway shooting. police say they arrested lee o'connor of forest bill after identifying him as the shooter in this incident. that happened along 6.80, north of alcosta boulevard. it was during the arrest that police say they also found a gun in o'connor's car. nobody was injured in the shooting. time now 607, and a developing story that we're following. legal experts are now weighing >> on the re-sentencing of david de pap, you remember to have is the one who hit paul pelosi in the head with a hammer at pelosi's home in san francisco. he was convicted to path was and he was initially cents on friday to 30 years in prison. but then a federal judge said that she failed to give to pass the opportunity speak during that sentencing, which is illegal and experts say is very important. this case. >> it takes consideration whether the defendant, the accused and now the convicted in this case, the pop is sorry

bay. one person is dead and 2 others in the hospital. >> after a car crash, it happened in vallejo sunday night on kerr told parkway west of lemon street. it was a nissan and it hit a center divider, lost control and then went into on-coming traffic hitting a honda and the person in the nissan died. a woman in the nissan and a man driving a honda went to the hospital. police say that drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been a factor in the crash. >> garbage truck caught fire. wow in san francisco and that it smelled to look this. is that in the tenderloin their hide and ellis streets, but 11 in the morning yesterday. and you can see a lot of smoke there. it's not clear what caused that fire. >> well, another fire in san

streets are in james. you have more on that. yes, the breaking news is the major roadway that's closed in fremont because of that fiery crash. so let's get to the scene crawford's michael thomas there for us now with the latest michael. >> really an awful scene here in fremont. take a look behind me. this is near the intersection of fremont boulevard and forton avenue. it's just south of thornton avenue and you can see that car wrapped around a tree and completely engulfed in flames. earlier this morning, we have not gotten confirmation from police on if this is a fatality or not. however, we are seeing some equipment that is normally brought out by traffic fatality team. we are seeing some what appears to be family members of a loved one who may be involved in this. now they are speaking in spanish. so at's hard to understand, but are hearing them say that their son was involved in this. and again, we have not gotten any confirmation that anybody has passed away, but there is a family here that is very distraught, emotional, who says that their son was involved. in so as we get more

details from officially will keep you updated. but you can see completely wrapped around that tree. and keep in mind the speed limit on this street right now is around 30 miles an hour again. this is on fremont boulevard. it's near the intersection of thorton avenue in fremont boulevard. it's just south of thorton. it is right in front of a what appears to be buddies, discount, and food supply. it's also next to a chevron and a carl's junior. it does appear that it's only one vehicle that's involved, but you can see just how badly damaged that vehicle is in all of the debris. that's pushed all the way. i mean, at least 50 to 60 feet down near the wiener so that's right there. and some of it even farther all the way towards the kfc, which is about 100 feet or so away. officials continuing to investigate this crash and you can see them there with their and everything we have not gotten any word from fremont police department on

for police to arrive and is cooperating with the investigation. and police say the death of a homeless man who was killed last week was due to blunt force trauma to the head and the chest. here. you can see a photo of him and flowers placed at the spot where desmond cole lost his life. investigators also found a large rock at the scene. they're not sure if that was the murder weapon they're investigating. we talked to some people who knew the victim. >> mean, you know, i mean, i think he had his issues. >> but the big, you know, you never did wrong anybody that i know. you know, mean, it would talk out loud little bit, you know, but >> that was just him. investigators are still piecing together what happened. >> the federal transit administration is investing millions or billions, i should say into san francisco's public transit systems. the portal is a project to connect caltrain and california's high-speed rail to the salesforce transit center in downtown san francisco. and you just saw a moment ago, an artist's rendering of what it
