bay mushroom farms involved in last year's fatal shootings will pay nearly half a million dollars. >> in damages to employees over labor violations. federal investigators say both farms, house workers in sickening conditions where they slept on dirty mattresses and were exposed to insects, trash and mold. this happened at concord farms and california. terra gardens, according to the probe from the u.s. department of labor, investigators say that the farm's owners also deducted money from the workers paychecks for the substandard housing and then failed to pay workers for overtime. >> on behalf of homeowners in the state and alameda county today, district attorney pamela price announcing a major lawsuit her office is filed against home insurance companies coffers. philippe djegal reports from oakland where price claims that the companies have defrauded their customers. >> our consumer justice bureau has filed a lawsuit. a major lawsuit on behalf of

california homeowners summers group incorporated and several of its entities are listed as defendants in a complaint filed in superior court of california by the alameda county district attorney's office. >> it seeks injunctive relief and civil believe that the evidence will show that these insurance companies have utilized a software application that allows them. >> essentially to defraud homeowners by charging them premiums for insurance that provide inaccurate and low replacement costs for insured homes. district attorney pamela price. as the people impacted by the lawsuit represent about 15% of the state's homeowners offering these lower premiums based on inaccurate >> estimates insurance companies gain competitive advantage at the expense of proper coverage. price adds they also violate a number of state regulations, rules and

wind blowing to 29 miles per hour. we have have some delays across the country, but things have since cleaned up a lot. although chicago o'hare still have some issues. there are some very stormy weather. we're going to sway across the country right now on that could cause more issues. if you're traveling in the next couple of days. so here we go again. it is been a very rough a month month and a half now across the country's midsection. you see a very large storm system now developing in this one. look at all the storm reports. you see all the little circles hear reports of damaging hail, some damaging winds to go along with that and then a bunch of tornadoes in between. not done yet. the storm system still tracking for the east in a tornado warnings are up near a in milwaukee near green bay. and you can see that storm making its way through madison right now with some very, very heavy rainfall and the threat of some more severe weather behind that. boy, just numerous tornadoes doing some damage in iowa today. some wind damage with some very strong tornadoes dropping down there as well. and looks like

that activity is going to act, just maybe a moving further south. so you can see this the forecast for severe weather as we head in toward tomorrow. unfortunately. boy, the dallas area, much northern texas could be under the gun again for tomorrow. of course, they've been pummeled by tremendous amounts of rain over the past month or so. some of the rivers there are already flooding. and by tomorrow afternoon, guess what? another round of severe weather, more heavy rain, more flooding and the possibility of tornadoes coming their way. thank you, lawrence. pixar animation studios has cut 14% of its workforce. the layoffs will affect about 175 employees at its emeryville and animation studio where the company is based. >> according to reports of job cuts will allow pixar to shift its focus back to projects meant for theatrical release rather than streaming releases. the company is best known for the disney movies. toy story and up. >> atherton police have finished setting up. the first residents is for the cities bait house program. this is

all in an effort to deter would-be burglars. several bay houses have been set up and neighborhoods with higher burglary rates. police say the decoys houses have cutting edge surveillance equipment, allowing police to respond quickly and collect video evidence of suspects breaking and entering residents interested in participating in giving feedback on the program can call police. several organizations and san francisco are calling for the director of the san francisco mta to resign from his position. >> in a letter written to mayor london breed and muni. the group accuses jeff tomblin of several failures and inadequacies in his management of critical transportation projects. it goes on to say that tom wins continued failed leadership as rhode public trust and confidence in the agency's ability to keep people safe. the group says the failed projects include the valencia bike lane as well as the west portal station. we've reached out to mayor breed's office and the board of directors for comment. and we have yet hear back. we all know the big one is the

question is, are we ready for a major earthquake that was put to the test in a big way during a major exercise in sonoma county. >> it's the one. a massive quake has struck northern sonoma county. >> dozens of first responders gathered at the citrus fairgrounds in cloverdale to test their skills in responding to such a disaster victims. we've got about 50 victims in there. >> so you're going to be very, very busy. this is the definition of a mass casualty incident. >> there's a lot of prep going into this. dozens of students go through makeup to simulate head injuries and broken bones. the fire police, medical responders are overwhelmed by simultaneous incidents. buildings are down some on fire. 2 buses collide leaving dozens of students and adults injured. firefighters have to pry their way through the metal to get to the victims. cell phone towers are out and for the next hours and

days, first responders won't be getting outside. help because those agencies are responding to their own emergencies. that's where the search come in. search is community emergency response. team civilians often your neighbors, the train to step in when professional first responders are overwhelmed by disaster. >> practice getting victims to safety by and freedom operate. >> lessons from past disasters have shown many residents won't evacuate. lesser animals are accounted for. now they're see that the california veterinary emergency team, they'll work with cart the community. animal response team to make sure everything from a dog or cat to livestock are treated and put their owners minds at ease. >> we can make sure that we're giving the best care possible to animals and then turn people can keep themselves today. safe. my knowing that those animals are getting the appropriate care now.

mister trump in jail for violating a gag order, protecting witnesses and the jury focus then shifted to the salacious testimony of star stormy daniels who described in detail in a fair and lake tahoe with mister trump back in 2006, the former president denies it happened. next came the star witness, michael cohen, who connected the dots for the jury. he stepped them through handwritten notes, e-mails and call logs while describing how he paid daniels for her silence and then was reimbursed by then president trump during 2017 in respofse, the trump defense got cohen to admit he lied several times to a federal judge to congress and to the public. he even was forced to admit he stole money from the trump organization. the extent to which the jury believes cohen could very well determine the outcome of the case. mister trump's main witness was attorney robert costello who was brought in to call cohen's credibility into further question. but he did so in such a combative way, often ignoring instructions from justice marshawn that the
