says she noticed that a ruled over car on fire had people trapped inside instead of calling 9-1-1 they pulled over and he ended up rescuing a little girl. video shows the heroic moment when a man jumps into a car on fire and pulls out a 3 year-old girl. i just told myself say. >> i wasn't going to leave that little girl in that car. >> troy white says he was driving on highway 4 in antioch with his daughter delilah tuesday afternoon when they noticed a car rolled over and on fire with people stuck inside. just scared because i knew the car catches on fire. a lot white says he ran up to the car and saw a woman climbing out. so he went to the other side of the car looked inside. and what i seen was. >> it was it nightmare. you know, it was a child. she was trapped in her car seat with flames continuing to grow. white, worked as quickly as he could to get the girl out. it's just such a brave little girl. she wasn't crying. she was scared. whatever member

5.80, in richmond. >> well, chp says it happened on the harbor way off ramp. they say the lanes are closed for a couple hours. they're open. we'll have any other information at this time. time now 703. and we now know a 19 year-old man from newark was a driver killed in tuesday's fiery crash of fremont. the crash happened shortly after midnight right near the intersection of fremont boulevard, thorne avenue all caught on surveillance video. police say the car hit a tree and caught fire and they see an on-duty patrol officer spotted the crash and rescued a passenger also identifies a 19 year-old man from newark. we don't have any update on his condition. investigators say speeding appears to be a factor in that crash. >> it's 703, an antioch police are investigating an armed robbery where 2 people who work with the contra costa county fair were depositing some cash was 02:30am, in the morning on monday that they went to the bank in antioch and thieves robbed them, took the money, took their personal

belongings and used a gun in the prague in the process of this. they're looking for who did it. 704 is the time right now into day 3 men accused of killing a kron. 4 security guard in oakland in 2021. are due in court this morning for a plea hearing. they face murder and attempted robbery charges for the killing of kevin nishita. kevin nishita was shot while he was protecting a kron for news crew that was just set up in the street to do regular story. i think it was around noon on a week day that this happened in oakland and that hearing is set for 09:00am 704, right now. and in the south bay, a teenager is injured and another boy is in custody with a fight that ended with a stabbing and during school it was around noon christopher high school in gilroy that these teenagers got into a fight in the locker room and one of them pulled out a knife and stabbed the other. all of the students were put in lockdown while a resource officer intervened. and then the police got there,

a parent and woman who lives in the area says this is scary thing to know. this went on. >> doubt be a lot of hugging before bed, i think you know, conversations we'll help them feel more comfortable about feeling safe about going to school. >> the teens who was stabbed that stu was taken to the hospital and the other one was booked into the santa clara county juvenile hall. >> well, university of california workers rallying across the state yesterday, including right here in san francisco. many of them are custodial workers. they're asking for accessible housing and better pay. >> pay is too we food it up and shown up since the pandemic. we have been nonstop to do in and it would not been about it at cannot afford to living in in the communities where they and many of these

members are commuting 3, 4, hours every day just to get to their jobs, leaving in their priced out of the housing market. >> according to a spokesperson from the university of california, negotiations started in january and the first tentative agreement was reached this week. spokesperson for the union representing the workers says we can expect more of these rallies pretty soon. well said to the east bay right now because the city of walnut creek approved a conditional proposal for a new chick-fil-a restaurant. and it's causing a little controversy. this comes after a rest restaurant, a resident there filed an appeal about the plan to put that new restaurant in the citrus marketplace shopping center. this is lie on the corner of oak grove and citrus avenue. the city says the residents cited various concerns about one potential traffic problems. that restaurant will create. city says they get complaints about another chick-fil-a. that's right. along north main street geary boulevard, the draft or line off the backs up into the street from the parking lot. so he says that new location

so this is my beat. the transportation beat and i will show you what's going on at men at a san jose. today is the start of their busiest travel week. as far as memorial day is concerned. they expect about 375,000 people to pass through their airport from now until next friday. tomorrow. don't worry, sfo. it will be your busiest day as far as that travel period as far as men at a san jose. you can see what's going on right now. looks like it's picked up just a little bit. let me show you video inside. it was off to a fast and furious start as so many people are taking advantage of that extra day and if they're traveling today, that means they're off today and tomorrow and obviously monday. so it's going to be a long window for them to travel as far as traveling by plane this year. guess what? you're in for some lack because it's a lot cheaper. we're little bit cheaper depending what you choose to do with your money.

hotels are 10% cheaper than last year. airfare 6% from the same time last year. and the hotels, you know what, you can afford it this year compared to last year as well. and rental cars. that's also a lot cheaper. yeah, all those things. and that's why according to travel experts, rain and area, they expect 6 million people to travel through the airports across america just for tomorrow. got a chance to talk to some travelers. yes, they know it's going to be busy, but they don't care. >> maybe a little more in normal. >> and so the holiday also, so we were expecting that. >> so you knew it was going to be busy. >> yeah, it's it's memorial day. it's one like the busy travel ban will deal with the bills and we get back pretty much. not a lot

are up in the sierra this weekend, watch for a few isolated showers for the middle of the weekend. up in the sierra nevada. nothing to cancel plans over. i just don't you be surprised by them if they do right now, today's daytime highs will only be in the 60's for us at 50's and 60's at the coast. most of us are going to be in the 70's today and that includes some areas. i've been in the 80's the past few days like san jose down to 77 today. fremont at 73 degrees holding out a low 70's from san leandro. oakland on of to richmond with just a few low 80's in spots like concord, antioch, and vacaville, looking at the memorial day weekend forecast saturday is about to be the very coolest one. look at that mid-sixties on average in this includes our inland areas on saturday sunday, temperatures climb a little bit into the low 70's again and by memorial day on monday, we will be looking at highs back up to 80 degrees for some spots, mostly in the 70's. still next week does bring the return of those low 80's in general for inland

riding a bicycle and ran into her shoes outside of the with city lights, bookstore, about 3 in the afternoon yesterday when the bicycle went by and a witness says that he saw the cyclist, the bike hit, the elderly woman. she fell down and then he ended up taking off. >> she fell down and he's yelling at her. so yelling at her white to move. you know, just in a panic state and out, walked up to the lady just to comfort her because she started she was. you know, and work and i had yelled to somebody to call 9-1-1. got on his bike and left. >> the cyclist was arrested a few blocks we don't know about any charges. and from the man describing it, it sounded like one of those situations where you don't know which way somebody is going and, you

know, want to hit someone. but if you're on the sidewalk, especially can be dangerous. the time is now 7.20, on the peninsula. a massive fire at a metal scrap sent huge plumes of smoke. you could really see it across the bay. you know, we're going to take a look with kron four's dan thorn. >> a massive fire at a scrap yard in redwood city sending thick, dark smoke into the air. fire crews rushing to sims metal near bear island wednesday afternoon as large grapple closs pick through the burning rubble. workers at nearby businesses describe what they heard before. a large plume of smoke blanketed the area. it sounded like a >> like right now like metal. >> manuel michelle works at a neighboring water, recycling company and says he's seen small fires that sims metal before, but not like this. the smoke was about 100 100 feet up. >> just 7200 feet up in the air flames as high as 30 feet. the smoke drifted down wind into santa clara county,

setting off an advisory from officials for sensitive groups to stay indoors the bay area. air quality management district says they're also investigating the fire. >> this is not the first time sims metal has had a run-in with the district. the redwood city facility was issued violations in 2012 2013 and in 2018, a large fire at the richmond facility forced to shelter in place. samples collected at the time by the air quality management district found high levels of particulates and the cancer causing chemical benzene. michelle says he's gotten used to hearing the booms from the scrap yard, but he's not used to seeing big flames. your booms, like i said all the time sometimes, but that the nothing major probably been the biggest fire scene. >> a spokesperson for sims metal tells kron 4. they apologized for any disruptions. this fire may have caused. there were no reports of any injuries and the cause of the fire is still under investigation in redwood city. dan thorn kron 4.

>> 75 right now and in the east bay, the federal bureau of prisons is going to be on trial next year over claims that the bureau had environment where guards were able to sexually abuse inmates at the women's prison in dublin. and as you know, that prison, they transferred all the inmates out and some of those inmates are now suing the prisons bureau because they say the agency failed to protect them, failed to root out abuse. the case will be a trial by june of next year. and so far, 5 prison officials plan to get guilty to sexually abusing inmates and 2 others were convicted. happening now, the emeryville police department is looking for this woman. she is wanted for stabbing someone at a chick-fil-a on monday afternoon. she walked up behind this other woman and slashed his neck with what police say may have been a razor blade. it did break his skin, but it's just a minor injury. and now they're asking

be realized redeveloping the 112 acre site that now houses the oakland coliseum. >> has been discussed for decades now. a significant move forward as the city of oakland has agreed to sell its half of the site. >> to the african american sports and entertainment group. >> there's a new beginning. a new chapter of new everything. new sports teams, new housing, new development, new green space knew everything. so that's what this is all about. originally focus just on sports. >> cg is now focused on what's best for the community. and the mayor says that's what will make all the difference. >> it takes a partner that understand that there is a return on investment that doesn't necessarily show up on that balance sheet. that is just not all about the money, but it's about the community and making sure that they're thriving. when this is built, that it's built for the community so that they can realize their family wednesday's news conference

case where a gun is involved. more arrests, more stolen. cars are covered and more illegal weapons sees. this is from the governor's new numbers from sting operations in the east bay kron four's terisa estacio takes a closer look. >> this is one of more than several dozen guns tied to criminal activity taken off the streets in the last 3 months. it is all part of a continuous crime prevention operation launched in oakland and other parts of the east bay. back in february, the partnership was initiated by governor newsom. in a statement, quote, the governor said i commend the work of the chp to support local law enforcement efforts statewide, including in the east bay to ensure the safety of our communities. the state will continue to hold perpetrators accountable for criminal activity. here's a closer look at the numbers being released since february. the governor's office says that the targeted enforcement has recovered 726 stolen vehicles may 355

caltrans lending a hand and tackling homeless encampments and light abandonment initiatives. furthermore, the governor announced 480 high-tech cameras will be installed around oakland and the east bay to identify vehicles linked to crimes and give real-time information and alerts to law enforcement will have the information on the a lot faster than if were to do a regular investigation where we have no cameras. the bill. >> as for how long the chp will be deployed to aid in crime reduction efforts that has not been addressed. theresa kron, 4 news. >> it's 7, 36 and in the south bay, 3 family members are going to stand trial for the death of a 3 year-old girl in san jose. prosecutors say that the mother, uncle and grandfather performed an exorcism on the girl at a church in september of 2021, the 3 had told police they were trying to cast out a demon from the girl. she ended up dying in the church. shun.

the time is now 7.37. and we're talking about police in san francisco. they're investigating the death of a trans woman who was killed in the tenderloin commerce justice. talk with a translator who knew the victim? i think her life was just beginning. and so for her to be murdered at the age of 25. >> is just so heartbreaking and so many ways. >> wednesday, the trans community mourning a good friend with a kind heart who was killed. san francisco police say there was a physical altercation between 2 people around 2 in the afternoon on may. 15th at a residence near jones street just north of geary officers finding a woman with stab wounds. she did not survive. family friends and colleagues identified that person as 25 year-old michelle henry, big loss for the community says honey mahogany director of the office of transgender initiatives, san francisco. so this personal for the community. you know, i'm this is one of her own and
