to really blow up on highway 4 nanny a kron 4. sarah stinson has a whole story. >> and driving with his 10 year-old daughter in antioch says she noticed that a ruled over car on fire had people trapped inside instead of calling 9-1-1 they pulled over and he ended up rescuing a little girl. video shows the heroic moment when a man jumps into a car on fire and pulls out a 3 year-old girl. i just told myself say. >> i wasn't going to leave that little girl in that car. >> troy white says he was driving on highway 4 in antioch with his daughter delilah tuesday afternoon when they noticed a car rolled over and on fire with people stuck inside. just scared because i knew the car catches on white says he ran up to the car and saw a woman climbing out. so he went to the other side of the car. looked inside. and what i seen was >> it was it was was a nightmare. you know, it was a child she was strapped into her car seat with flames continuing to grow white,

worked as quickly as he could to get the girl out. it's just such a brave little girl. she wasn't crying. she was scared. whatever member saying was help me help me help me. when i got around. maybe 30 seconds later, i feel like everybody that was there was going get away from the vehicle. >> you know, i just i had to turn >> minutes later, the car blew up in flames. chp says the mom suffered minor injuries and went in the ambulance with her daughter who had cuts from broken glass. i'm just glad that family a video of the rescue is now circulating online. many are calling white a hero to which he attributes to his faith. >> that great a lot lately and again for ways to have service you know, getting older. and i believe that he has a record. today was a last minute change of scheduling for me to even be there that chp says drugs nor alcohol are involved in this told that the little girl and her mom are recovering and okay.

>> i'm sara stinson reporting in the newsroom. kron 4 news. >> it sent out to right now and a pedestrian was killed. they were hit by a car this morning on west bound 5.80, in richmond. this happened on the harbor way off ramp all lanes were closed for a couple hours, but now they're reopened. we don't have any information on the victim 10. 0, 2, and an infant has died after being involved in a car crash in san jose. this is back on. may. 15th unfair and and drive and south white road. a pregnant woman was driving on south white road. a sedan hit her vehicle. she was rushed to the hospital for an emergency c section. but 4 days later, the baby died. this is san jose's 18th traffic deaths this year. we now know a 19 year-old man from newark was the driver who was killed in tuesday's fiery crash. that happened in fremont. this was after midnight near the intersection of fremont boulevard and thorne avenue. and you can see what happened on surveillance

video here. the car hit a tree caught fire and an off-duty starting on duty patrol officer spotted it right away was able to rescue the passenger. look at this that a 19 old man from newark. we don't an update on his condition. speeding appears to have been a significant factor in that crash. antioch police are investigating an armed robbery to people who work with the contra costa county. fair. we're at the bank deposit in cash and around 2.30, in the morning when thieves robbed them of the money and their personal belongings at gunpoint. we don't have any details who they're looking for 10. 0, 3, right now on the peninsula, a massive fire at a metal scrapyard and you'll see these huge plumes of smoke rising from the the site of this fire on wednesday, a kron four's dan thorn takes a closer look. >> a massive fire at a scrap yard in redwood city sending thick, dark smoke into the

air. fire crews rushing to sims metal near bear island wednesday afternoon as large grapple closs pick through the burning rubble. workers at nearby businesses describe what they heard before. a large plume of smoke blanketed the area. it sounded like a bomb. >> like right now like metal. >> manuel michelle works at a neighboring water, recycling company and says he's seen small fires that sims metal before, but not like this. the smoke was about 100 100 feet up. >> so 7200 feet up in the air flames as high as 30 feet. the smoke drifted down wind into santa clara county, setting off an advisory from officials for sensitive groups to stay indoors the bay area. air quality management district says they're also investigating the fire. >> this is not the first time sims metal has had a run-in with the district, the redwood city facility was issued violations in 2012 2013 and in

2018, a large fire at the richmond facility forced to shelter in place. samples collected at the time by the air quality management district found high levels of particulates and the cancer causing chemical benzene. michelle says he's gotten used to hearing the booms from the scrap yard, but he's not used to seeing big flames. your booms, like i said all the time sometimes, but that the nothing major probably been the biggest fire scene. >> a spokesperson for sims metal tells kron 4. they apologized for any disruptions. this fire may have caused. there were no reports of any injuries and the cause of the fire is still under investigation in redwood city. dan thorn kron. 4 news. >> it's 10, 0, 5, and in the south bay, a teenager was injured and another is in custody after a knife fight at a high school. this happened around noon christopher high school in gilroy. 2 teens got into a fight in the locker room and one of them pulled out a knife and stabbed the

that spot, the drive-thru backs up onto the street from the parking but the city says this new location doesn't have a drive-thru. its dine-in and take-out only the city council says they denied that residents appeal. so looks like that's going 10. 19 is time right now. and new this morning department of justice is suing ticketmaster's parent company live nation accusing them of an illegal monopoly. multiple states, including california, are joining in this lawsuit in our dc correspondent trevor shirley has more. >> the sweeping lawsuit alleges a monopoly by ticketmaster and its parent company. live nation which doj officials say drives up ticket prices for fans and kills competition. that lawsuit was filed thutsday. it's being brought with 30 state and district attorneys. general, they say the monopoly squeezes out smaller concert promoters and hurts artists. attorney general merrick garland says live nation's monopoly costs fans more in fees and lee's

venues with few other choices for ticket sales. the doj also alleges live nation uses unfair practices to keep venues locked into long-term exclusive contracts with ticketmaster live nation denies engages in unfair or illegal practices saying this lawsuit will fail in court. ticketmaster is the world's largest ticket seller handling around 70% of all u.s. concert ticket sales scrutiny of live nation became even more intense following the botched rollout 2 years ago. tickets for taylor swift's current concert tour. now officials say it's time for live nation and ticketmaster is control of the concert entertainment market to end. our complaint makes clear what happens when a monopolist dedicates its resources. >> twin trenching its monopoly power and insulating itself from competition rather than investing in better products and services. we allege that live nation has illegally monopolized markets across the

live concert industry in the united states for far too long. >> and back in 2023, several senators also called for a congressional investigation into live nation reporting in washington. i'm trevor shirley. >> 10 21 in the owner of 2 restaurants that are closed now and san francisco's fisherman's wharf. they're suing the city for millions of dollars. the owner of grotto and sharon tina's claims that they invested more than 2 million dollars to renovate and maintain both of those restaurants and they say they were unable to recoup their investment because of the city's covid restrictions and the homelessness crisis. according to this lawsuit in san francisco superior court, the owner says that the city of san francisco should pay back the 2 million dollars in addition to damages for lost revenue and harm to their reputation. it's 10. 22. and coming up on the kron 4 morning news. what is next for the oakland coliseum now that the city has decided that is still at selling its share.

it's 10 24 and the federal bureau of prisons is going to be on trial next year over claims that the bureau, a loud environment where guard sexually abused inmates at the women's prison in dublin, which is now closed and all the inmates have been transferred, but none. now some of those inmates are suing the bureau saying the agency failed to root out the cause of abuse that was going on this case could go to trial by june of next year. so far, 5 prison officials pleaded guilty and 2 others were convicted of sexually abusing inmates. there's a new state

bill that aims to have sites require an age verification for california users. the sites would have to check your age before you're able to use them. they use a credit card or a government id. it also says that there would be no data collection capped and that it will be anonymous. they're not going to store the data. the bill passed the state assembly and now goes to the senate. in a couple of minutes. a bill that aims to address ai-generated child abuse images is set for a key vote in the assembly. the bill would make it illegal to create distribute and have lifelike illicit content involving children. this bill has been introduced. they're teaming up 2 because they say i evolves. and so our laws have to protect people from the malicious use of ai. if this passes, then it goes to the state senate. t-mobile is raising prices on some of the

governor's office about sting operations in the east bay from arrest to stolen cars to it. >> illegal weapons conference. theresa has more. >> this is one of more than several dozen guns tied to criminal activity taken off the streets in the last 3 months. it is all part of a continuous crime prevention operation launched in oakland and other parts of the east bay. back in february, the partnership was initiated by governor newsom. in a statement, quote, the governor said i commend the work of the chp to support local law enforcement efforts statewide, including in the east bay to ensure the safety of our communities. the state will continue to hold perpetrators accountable for criminal activity. here's a closer look at the numbers being released since february. the governor's office says that the targeted enforcement has recovered 726 stolen vehicles may 355 arrests and seized 46 crime late firearms. >> ever every we've been out

mother, uncle and grandfather performed an exorcism on the little girl and september of 2021. they told the police that they needed to cast out a demon from the girl. she ended up dying of the 60 asian. 10. 33 is the time in a state measure that it's trying to solve the shortage of officers in the vallejo police department is going on right now. the department has authorized 132 officers. they only have 31 democratic state senator bill dodd of napa introduced this measure to allow retired solano county sheriff's deputies to work full-time as patrol officers for 3 years to help out police while they try to or the sheriff's department, they try to get enough officers to fill those roles right now to recruit and training everything an officer takes about 2 years. it's 10 34. and this is a follow-up to a story that we brought you yesterday here on the kron. 4 morning

news. as we told you, the city of oakland has entered into a deal to sell its half of the coliseum site. there are requirements, though. kron four's dan kerman reports. >> have faith that in partnership with the african american sports entertainment group. but the potential that we always talk about here in oakland that potential specifically here in deep east oakland that it will finally be realized redeveloping the 112 acre site that now houses the oakland coliseum. >> has been discussed for decades now. a significant move forward as the city of oakland has agreed to sell its half of the site. >> to the african american sports and entertainment group. >> there's a new beginning. a new chapter of new everything. new sports teams, new housing, new development, new green space knew everything. so that's what this is all about. originally focus just on sports. >> cg is now focused on what's best for the community. and the mayor says that's what will make all the difference.

leronne armstrong is running for city council. he just filed the paperwork, even while he is suing the city of oakland for wrongful termination. and here he is walking in to get those pages signed and be a candidate for rebecca kaplan seat along with all of the others who are running. 8 other candidates want that seat. but armstrong says his experience as a police chief qualifies him best for the job. >> the fact that i live in oakland have chose to raise my family. oakland children to volunteer activity into activities in the city of oakland shows that i am completely connected to this city. and i want to be a part of this city change moving biggest, even how fired armstrong last year over his handling of a pair of misconduct cases. but >> he was later cleared of any wrongdoing. filed against the city. a wrongful termination lawsuit. >> another proposed tax on chevron's refinery in richmond is closer to being on the november ballot. city council

crisis. and the key takeaway is that people are not injecting fentanyl. they're smoking. it. here's what the study found from january to april this year, 258 people died from an accidental overdose in the city compared to 275 people this time last year. the researchers say more people are smoking fentanyl because of the difficulty in injecting it and the fear of overdosing. it's also become somewhat of a social drug. they observe people sharing all kinds paraphernalia and drugs and information. they found that fentanyl is extremely cheap as little as 10 bucks a gram. the study is the first to explore fentanyl resin as a key contributer overdose. east bay residents. here's the all collier. get money back. if you're buying and eat bike. >> contra costa county is getting 150 to $300 cash
