today are dipping into the 60's for a lot of us that had been in the 80's just a couple of days ago. >> we're looking outside at a little bit of fog pushing in from the coastline. in fact, some really rapid fog formation off the san mateo coast this morning and a pretty generous onshore breeze. you can see that pushing in towards the coast right now. most of it is low cloud cover. so visibility has been okay. but you just got kind of a grey start to the morning and a cool windy feel to it. temperatures currently are in the 40's to 50's oakland and berkeley 51 wall dublin at 52. some 40's up in the north bay to start things out later on today. a lot of 60's and only a few low 70's and tomorrow, just as cool. if not even cooler. i'll talk more in your forecast as we rain. all right, john, thank you for get you moving on a friday and conditions are still pretty light. >> 15 minutes for everybody headed into the city this morning. no accidents on your bridges. 14 minute ride on the san mateo bridge. richmond center fell bridge around 12

and the golden gate bridge. 37 to toast 20 minutes. >> 71 is the time to our developing story this morning. a high school graduation ceremony ends with gunfire. local police say a man and a woman were hurt and 2 people were detained in all of this. now that shooting happened around 7.45 last night. >> this is at skyline. high school's graduation ceremony. police say some sort of fight might have led up to that and they're looking now for other possible suspects as well. >> there are some reports some kind of that is being looked into. we do know there multiple suspects, but we're trying to identify exactly how many. >> some students told us they heard the gunshots as the ceremony was taking place and that people are running as the students are taken to a gym locker room for safety. >> everybody was graduation.

she people's to rest of the house. fire was 1005 and they had like a bad man. >> unlike after that, as you see, everyone started ready use it was like 20 shots. those light. good >> police say this was an isolated incident. now a 3rd person reportedly took themselves to the hospital with a gunshot wound. but police haven't confirmed that there was a 3rd victim, but we'll let you know if they do. meanwhile, police in san francisco are investigating a shooting at the bayview where they say at least one person, one officer opened fire. citizen app. video shows officers here in the area of jennings street and carroll avenue. this was yesterday afternoon. they received the report of someone in the area with a rifle. officers arrived. they say they found the suspect. and at that 0, one officer ended up firing their gun. they say the suspect was not hit by bullets, but he was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries for what they described as a

less than lethal use of force. but they didn't specify exactly what kind of force they were talking about. the police department says they will be holding a town hall meeting, though in 10 days to explain more. >> said to be a pretty busy week for attorneys representing david to pop the man convicted at a federal level for attacking paul pelosi. the husband of congresswoman nancy pelosi at the pep right now set to be re-sentenced on tuesday for his federal conviction. >> at the state level, though, things are just getting started with kron four's ken wayne out talking with attorneys michael cardoza. the judge in the federal case said she made a mistake. what happened? well, what she did was after she's sentenced a pop. she realized she didn't give him the opportunity to make a statement to the court and then federal court, i think over 80% of defendants want to say something to the court. one of the big things. >> i noted was that the prosecution after the case said he showed no remorse at

all. and a lot of people sort of giggled at that. and so we'll wait a minute. didn't give him a chance to show any remorse or to talk. so basically it's not a small point. it's not going to reverse this case. it's not going i think have much effect would be shocked if the judge after listening hip-hop, if he decides to talk whether she reduces that or not. and he still has a state case which could add more prison time to what he's already. >> yeah, well, i i when i was a prosecutor a lot of state prosecutor to case and the federal government had a case they would often times just drop in and say, ok, you've got convicted in state court or vice versa. in this case, they're not doing that. a lot of people are asking. >> well, it's not double jeopardy. you're being tried for the same thing is really not because the state has added 4, 5 different counts. one of which is, of course,

the attempted murder case and issue is, are elements to for improving the cases in the state court in the elements are different and federal the south, the what's going on in state court. so i don't think jumper double jeopardy will hold. >> cardoza went on to say the judge in the federal case might be worried about the whole case been reversed. that's why she's pushing for a re-sentencing. we'll be following both the federal and state cases on air and online kron 4 dot com. >> we will not lay off or city workers, most of whom are oakland residents a news conference in oakland yesterday. mayor sheng thao made it pretty clear. >> her new budget will not lead to cuts in city jobs or public safety. oakland is facing a 117 million dollar deficit this year, 275 million dollar deficit for next year to help fill the gaps. the mayors also proposing hiring freeze on nearly 100 positions. they're not currently filled. none of these are public safety positions.

>> i will protect city services. my budget will not reduce public safety. my budget will not close firehouse is or libraries or recreation center or animal services. i will not cut cops. >> the mayors, formal budget proposal will be unveiled today and then go to the oakland city council to be voted on. >> meantime, the group working to recall mayor thao will update the public today on where they stand in that effort. oakland, united to recall sheng thao also known as oust, says it has already collected more than 30,000 signatures in support of the recall. they need 25,000 in order to get on the november ballot. they need the signatures by july. the group says they are pushing for a recall because they're fed up with rising crime. oust will be holding a press conference at 11 o'clock this morning. mayor thao says the recall campaign is being organized by political opponents who she previously ran against. road

safety was top of mind at the state capitol is a new bill aimed at regulating autonomous vehicles passed the state assembly yesterday. that bill would make autonomous cars report any accidents or malfunctions to the dmv. the agency within make that data available to the public. san francisco assemblymember matt haney says the goal is to make a v companies more accountable and improve public trust. >> are bay area residents traveling for memorial day weekend. a lot of folks. are you hitting the road? yeah. in fact, triple-a says 44 million people across the country are going to be doing exactly that over the next few days. properties will tran live in walnut creek with more on what we can expect out there. good morning will live. >> we can expect a lot of people to jam onto the freeway. as you can see those drivers right behind me. i'm sure they're gassing up to go to work. and if not, if you're getting up to leave right now, you are very smart person because the window is now, but it slams shut at around 11

o'clock this morning all the way until tonight. so this is your window to take off. and unfortunately, gas prices a little bit higher this year. then the same time last year for memorial day. right now you're waking up in california. the average interstate $5.17 little bit better in the last week at 5.22. so it's down a little bit, but a lot higher than the national average of $3 and $0.61 yesterday. we talked to flyers today. its drivers, it's their turn. a lot of people we'll be taking off 50 miles or more from their home to go see family or friends or even hang out in places like disneyland, which, of course, is a road trip. and that's going to cost you a lot of money in terms of gas. take a look at your screen. these are the gas prices. you're waking up to all of the bay area. so sf you feel a lot before you take off saying napa county, the average is $5.48 or your road trip in sonoma county,

$5.40. marin county five-thirty santa clara county 5. 21 and in solano county 5.21. yes. can i talk to drivers? absolutely. keep your eyes on the screen because i've done so many road trips with my twins. i've got it down. pat, let me show you some of my tips trying personalize our experience. number one is obviously tell your children go to the bathroom before you hit the road. that always got on my nerves. when 10 minutes into the trip, daddy, i got to go to the bathroom. so make sure everybody goes to the bathroom. bring snacks, right? do that. drive-in shifts. i drive early because this is my body clock little bit later in the afternoon. somebody else's driving, but drive-in ships. number 4, the most important tip as far as i'm concerned, don't touch my radio on the driver. i control who deejays.

>> that's right. the markets will be closed monday. so i'll see you tuesday. okay. we'll see you then. have a great holiday weekend. thanks. you too. rescue in the north bay of a man who fell about 20 feet while rock climbing. >> orange county fire posted this video of the chopper rescue. happened just after one yesterday afternoon. this is just south of stinson beach. firefighters say the man rescued sustained moderate injuries. and a busy day for firefighters in antioch. this fire started around 5 yesterday evening off of slaton ranch road. we have not gotten any details about how big it was or if it's contain. meanwhile, around the same time now, the fire started right near marine plaza that one burned about 5 acres. so what is the time? and new this morning, a new feature called recall is coming to the next generation of windows computers. we've got rich demuro to explain what that's all about.

>> oh, man has pleaded not guilty to the murder of a 29 year-old san mateo woman who officials say died of a fentanyl overdose. investigators say sarah tillman was found dead in a home last year. they tell us they found text messages with her alleged drug dealer. according to that lawsuit, 2 months before her death, tillman warn the dealer that he had nearly killed her with the drugs he sold or and in may of 2023, he sold drugs laced with fentanyl. again, that ended up killing her. the suspected killer set to return to court in september for a preliminary hearing. >> well, governor newsom has signed a bill into law allowing arizona doctors to come to california to perform abortion treatments for their patients who want them. it comes after the arizona supreme court ruled in favor of an 18, 64 law that virtually banned all abortions in the state. now, since then, the arizona legislature and the governor there have repealed a law, but that

repeal won't take effect until the fall. so in the meantime, governor newsom says he hopes california can be of help to those who need that procedure. in a statement, he said, quote, california will remain a safe harbor ready to defend abortion access because we value women's health and trust women to make the most intimate decisions about their bodies. health and futures. >> well, san francisco is one step closer to establishing a historically black college and university in the city. their little breezes, 60 interns from hbc use across the country. all going to be living and learning in san francisco this summer. she says this is the first step to building the long-term future of hbc use in the city. mayor reed says local organizations have already partnered up to form and help push that plan forward. >> well, coming up next on the kron, 4 morning news east bay organizations are teaming up now to bring life and positivity back to lake merritt. they say they're going to bring a lot of joy you should too. we are back.

kyle tells us how it all happened. >> long after the last visitors exited the contra costa county fair at the event park in antioch. police say 2 fair employees were tasked with taking the money collected from admissions fees to the bmo bank depository on summersville road to drop off the catch. they parked in the bank. lot at around 2.15, monday morning as they were in the process of opening a box. vehicle pulled up. suspect exited approach. the 2 victims >> the bag, which is a backpack full of cash. >> and their cell phones, antioch police investigations. lieutenant desmond bittner says the lone suspect was armed and pressed the gun into one of the victims backs were told the loss was right around $88,000. so to be exact and has 87,000, 800 and some change, the suspect left in a vehicle and has not been found. all we have and the suspect was a unknown race. male. we're in dark clothing

and wearing a mask. we stopped by the administrative offices here at the event park with questions about the incident. but the ceo and manager job ringle declined to comment. it's unclear why the employees were told to deposit the money so early in the dark morning. lieutenant bittner says investigators are looking into whether or not the victims were followed from the event her to the bank. and if any fair employees helped commission the robbery. are investigators looking trying to find, you know, if we have any similar robberies with similar within the past few months and will you know, we did or will link them up and investigate best. we can call police if you were in the area during the robbery and can shed light on what happened. >> investigators are in the process of obtaining and reviewing surveillance video that may have captured the incident in antioch, philippe djegal kron. 4 news. >> 7.33 is the time and a truck is back with its rightful owner now after it was stolen outside a petco parking lot of castro valley.

so stephanie, go see tips was out grocery shopping last week when she thought she had mistakenly left keys inside her blue tacoma to the tacoma. but after triple a unlocked her truck, she realized they weren't inside and thought maybe they were stolen. so she took out all of her belongings just in case the thieves came back to take the truck and sure enough later that night. that's exactly what happened. the thieves came by took off with that truck. stephanie tells us her to come is a prized possession and she is glad that it was ultimately found. >> i was jumping up and down when i saw it coming down the road because cops came in first and then the co we've got we've got it and they >> well, deputies checked over security footage and identified the woman that you see here as their suspect. she was ultimately arrested. they found her driving that truck sheriff's office says be vigilant. keep your keys on you and keep that vehicle

locked. if you're not near it. >> well, the owner to long-standing restaurant, a fisherman's wharf suing san francisco. the suit alleges the city failed to do its job of maintaining the war and keep in the area to code to protect against erosion or earthquakes. the suit also blames homelessness and crime in the area for preventing the restaurant from being successful. asking for financial reimbursement for recent improvements made to the 2 restaurants. the city's attorney's office released a statement in response to the lawsuit saying, quote, over the last year, the owner has attempted a number of maneuvers to get out of paying the 1.7 million dollars. owes the city in back. rent. appears to be yet another tent. however, once we are served the lawsuit, we will review it and respond in court. >> well, people living in an encampment sandra fell are speaking out now. they say a nearby businesses been blasting loud music at them for the last 3 as kron 4 sarah stinson report federal judge is now involved and has ordered that business stop.

>> people who live in this encampment say over the weekend music was blaring coming from the business next door they say was happening in the overnight hours. one man even described it as psychological warfare saying he's relieved to federal court, ordered the music to stop i'm thankful. >> that's how loud it was. rock concert loud, the second and 3rd night, i was unable to sleep at bruce moved into this refill encampment last year following a series of unfortunate events. >> i stopped to get medications for mental illness in barstow, california and mike rupp was stolen while it was in their says music started playing loudly overnight friday from the business east bay tire i called the police tend the police did nothing about so he decided to call homeless advocate. robbie paulsen, who came down to the encampment to start documenting it. we take took good decibel readings of

the >> of the sound. and we measure that the metal the decibels were between 5218 decibels in general. it was far above the senate bill moyers that was. >> it was illegal. >> on monday, pao's and filed for a restraining order against east bay tire co a judge ordered the business to stop playing the music immediately house and says that higher company's response was the music was coming from their security system along the fence. we reached out to east bay tire co, but they did not respond to a request for comment calls and says they have another court hearing for the music order late next month. get to what they're trying to do. they say >> we haven't been good neighbors to them. but they didn't come up with any police reports. >> the music stopping may be a win for this encampment, but they are still fighting the city to stay here on june 24th. there will be another federal hearing against the

city if sandra fell winds from people who live here would be reporting in sandra fell kron. 4 news. >> well, santa clara county's vector control district said they plan to hire and conduct a more comprehensive treatment regiment order to try to get rid of invasive mosquitoes. they say this particular mosquito carries the zika virus and other diseases. the district says they detected 12 mosquitoes and the area of china lane early april and they've been trying to treat them ever since. but it hasn't worked. the district says it start their new regiment on night. the final press conference at noon talk about the county government center. it's going to be on west hedding street. >> all right. now to a controversy at cal or b. that's the controversy right? the university has rebranded from cow to the letter b school officials say the change was so that more and more people would be aware that cal is in berkeley. apparently they did some research and discovered that a lot of people thought calland uc berkeley are 2 different

schools. but there's been some pushback. not all the students are in favor of this. in fact, more than 2000 of them have already signed a petition to try and reverse this re-branding. we did speak to some on campus, though, that say actually like to be. >> my first thoughts were is that it's like a super simplified which now like set with it for their own 3 minutes. i kind of seems he was very like, well, it's cool colonial system and this is. he's like a rebrand maybe in the right direction. but at least it's simple. it's easy look at and be like. nice yellow. and i think it's like half the year will be redone and everybody like, okay, that's been >> previously, the school has suggested it might also change its sports team names, but they decided against that. well, california state senate has passed 2 bills this week that will close a loophole in california single-use plastic bag ban. lawmakers say that loophole allowed thicker reusable bags that have
