will right back to the normal late spring warmth. we're looking outside at what we've got right here, which is a little bit of low cloud cover shifting across the bay area this morning. visibility all in all, actually been pretty fine so far this morning. but that low gray and that onshore push a pretty strong winds is helping to keep us relatively cool to start. we're actually going to stay pretty cool today to right now our temperatures are in the 40's to 50's san mateo at 54 pittsburgh. 57 santa rosa sitting at a cool 50 degrees as we move into the afternoon. that's when you really begin to were not as warm as we had been only low 60's for most of the bay and low 70's at the very warmest tomorrow about to be even cooler talking that your forecast rain. all right, john, thank you for that. let's get you rolling friday. >> traffic has been nice and light so far. bay bridge looking at a 9 minute, brian, 14 traveling across towards the peninsula. richmond, sandra fell bridge around 11 minutes and the golden gate

bridge. 37 of the tolls. 21 minutes. >> one is the time. let's get to our developing story this morning. a high school graduation ceremony ends with gunshots. is oakland police say a man and a woman were injured and 2 people were detained. now that shooting happened around 7.45. last night. this is at skyline high school's graduation ceremony. police say that some sort of fight led up to the shooting and now they're looking for other possible suspects. >> there are some reports some kind of that is being looked into. we do know there multiple suspects, but we're trying to identify exactly how many. >> some students told us that they heard the gunshots. a ceremony wasn't fully and that people or rani as the students taken to the gym locker room for safety. >> everybody was you know,

graduation, she people's to rest of the house. fire was 1005 and they had like a bad man. >> unlike after that, as you see, everyone started ready use it was like 20 shots. those light. the >> well, police say this was an isolated incident. a 3rd person reportedly took themselves to the hospital with a gunshot wound. but police haven't confirmed that there was a 3rd victim. we'll let you know if they do. well. police in san francisco are investigating a shooting in the bayview where they say at least one officer fired their weapon. we have video from the citizen app showing the scene here in the area of jennings street and carroll avenue. was yesterday afternoon that police received a report of somebody in the area with a rifle. when officers arrived at one after finding the suspect, one officer ended up firing their weapon. they say the suspect wasn't hit by any bullets, but did have to be taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries that were sustained in what

police described as a less than lethal use of force. we're still waiting for details about that. but we know the police department is going to be holding a town hall meeting within 10 days to describe 803, unlike many major cities rebounding after the pandemic. oakland. >> facing a significant budget deficit for this fiscal year. and the one following the yeah. the mayor's laying out her budget proposal form early later today. kron four's dan kerman reports. >> i will protect city services. my budget will not reduce public safety. my budget will not close firehouse is or libraries or recreation center or animal services. i will not cut cops. >> at a news conference thursday, oakland mayor sheng thao made it clear closing 117 million dollar budget deficit. this fiscal year. and 175 million dollar deficit for the next fiscal year. well, not be done on the backs of

city workers. i will not lay off or city workers, most of whom are oakland residents. there's obvious a lot of member, right? because, you know, >> a lot of our members, whether the same thing during the great recession where they had layoff notices and everything else. julian, where as with i of pte local 21, a city employees union representing 1000 administrative and clerical workers. >> as well as professional engineers. he says no layoffs is not only good for city employees, but city residents to be able to, you know, put it together in a way that we are. can secretary anything but a residence should be receiving in the form the services. i think it's just a tremendous victory. oakland's proposed sale of its half of the oakland coliseum property will generate 105 million dollars. but that won't be enough to close the deficit. that's why the mayor is also proposing a hiring freeze of nearly 100 positions that are not currently filled. none of these are public safety positions. she also proposes

streamlining city services such as centralizing the payroll system and generating revenue by making oakland more attractive to filmmakers. we know that, for instance, blind spotting that is the storyline of lines bodies based here oakland. >> parts of it was filmed here. however, if 100% of that film was filmed here and what we have an infrastructure for the film initiative and that meant that means that about 85 million dollars would have been pushed back as revenues into our economy. here. so that's just an example of this is why we're investing in our film initiative. the mayor's formal budget proposal will be unveiled on friday and then go to the oakland city council. dan kerman kron. 4 news. >> meantime, the group working to recall mayor thao will update the public today on where they stand in that effort. oakland united to recall shannon thao also known as oust, says it has already collected more than 30,000 signatures in support of this recall. they need 25,000 signatures by july in order to

get it on the november ballot. the group says they're pushing for a recall because they're fed up with rising crime oust will hold their press conference at 11 o'clock this morning. mayor thao says this recall campaign has been organized by her political opponents who she previously ran against. what road safety was top of mind at the state capitol is a new bill aimed at regulating autonomous vehicles passed the state assembly yesterday. bill would make autonomous cars report any accidents or malfunctions to the dmv and the agency would then make that data available to the public. san francisco assemblymember matt haney says the goal is to make a v companies more accountable and improved public trust. >> all right. many bay area residents are to be traveling for memorial day weekend. and aaa says nearly 44 million people across the country if they're going to be on the road. you have a lot of company out there. kron four's will tran following that part of the story for us out live in walnut creek. hey, well. >> a lot of people will be say

this one up there just because i've sprinkles, years that a little bit of sprinkle activity into tomorrow morning. so something to think about if you are heading up that direction, we are going to be looking at some cooler than average weather. great for that spring skiing. as long as you're ready to go for those conditions. but looking at half dome right here, yosemite national park. still some snow up there in those higher elevations. we are looking at a day in the bay area that's bringing some partly cloudy skies to start. we'll clear more towards the afternoon this week has been seasonable and fairly mild and sunny. but we're seeing a disruption of that very briefly today into tomorrow are cooler than average temps and yes, those years sprinkles. we will be looking at a few clouds this morning peaks of afternoon sun tomorrow is actually going to be our coolest in cloudy. a stay. best chance of a couple drops of rain up in the north bay and the sierra as well as for the rest of us, too. now rainfall is going to be most prominent up near the oregon

border. eureka could get close to a 10th of an inch. so some decent showers. if you're heading up to the redwoods up in humboldt county while the sierra, maybe a sprinkle, i just want you to be ready for it. that's the heads up 50's to 60's for your highs in sf 50's at the coastline. a lot of 60's to low 70's elsewhere. today's daytime highs running as much as 15 degrees below average for this time of year for spots like the tri valley that 63 in pleasanton, not normal for memorial day. but if you don't love the heat so much, it's okay to get that nice little break right. napa for bottle rock. 72 degrees today while santa rosa. at 75 our warmest spot on the map. if you are heading out for memorial day on sunday, we do have a return to normal for memorial day. daytime highs in the mid 70's to low 80's inland 60's to 70's along the bay shore. and those typical cool temps at the coastline. so it's kind of a 50, 50 split this weekend today and tomorrow on the cooler side of things. nice break from the heat for cool weather lovers

and then back to the sunshine and warmth for sunday and monday. for that, let's get rolling. traffic is looking really good. look at this. an 8 minute drive for everybody traveling into the city right now, mateo bridge, 14 minutes, the 80 to 101. if you're heading across towards peninsula. >> was feel rich. 8 minutes and the golden gate bridge. 37 to the tolls. 21 minutes. >> 8.16 is the time and the department of justice has filed a lawsuit against ticketmaster and its parent company this week. so it accuses the company of having a legal monopoly over concerts and live events. we got washington correspondent maddie beer-temple with more on that. >> the department of justice is taking ticketmaster to court. it is time. >> to break up live nation. ticketmaster attorney general merrick garland said thursday the doj and 29 states plus dc are suing ticketmaster and its parent company live nation. >> alleging they have an illegal monopoly over live

events. it controls at least 80% of primary ticketing at major concert venues. the lawsuit says the company has its hand in nearly every part of the industry and blocks venues from using multiple ticket sellers. the result is that fans paying more in fees. artists have fewer opportunities to play concerts, smaller promoters, get squeezed out and venues have fewer real choices for ticketing services. a post on live nation's website calls the allegations baseless and says they ignore the real factors behind higher ticket prices. the company said in a statement, quote, the doj is lawsuit won't solve the issues fans care about relating to ticket prices, service fees and access to in-demand shows. >> 8.18, is the time and a man has pleaded not guilty. now to the murder of a 29 year-old san mateo woman who officially says who officials say died of fentanyl overdose. investigators say sarah tillman was found dead in her home last year. now they tell

us they found text messages with her alleged drug dealer. and according to the lawsuit, 2 months before her death, 2 men apparently warned that dealer that he had nearly killed her with the drugs that he recently sold or and in may of 2023. he sold or drugs laced with fentanyl again and it did end up killing her. the suspected dealer set to return to court in september for a preliminary hearing. >> look at this. a dramatic rescue in the north bay. a man fell about 20 feet while rock climbing county fire posted this video of its helicopter rescue crew at around 1 o'clock or so yesterday afternoon, just south of stinson beach pulling him to safety. firefighters say the man that they rescued sustained moderate injuries and is being treated now. >> and a pretty busy day for firefighters out in antioch. this fire started around 5 yesterday evening. rifle slaton ranch road. not gotten any details about the size and

containment. meanwhile, around this time, another fire started right near marina plaza. that one burned about 5 acres. park rangers in sonoma county could soon lose their ability to make arrests can carry batons. park officials say this would eliminate training and hiring requirements positions to be filled faster. several rangers argue the change could put visitors at risk. i believe that the solution will create a ripple effect, greater issues. >> that will not affect rangers and our department staff but also have drastic effects on visitors who will not have the support and response that they require and have come to expect from us. county supervisors indoors. the more on 4 to one vote. >> the proposal must come back to the board for second bill before it can actually be implemented. there. >> well, it has been a busy week for attorneys representing david de pap the man accused of at least federally and a convicted federally for attacking paul pelosi. the husband of

congresswoman nancy pelosi about the said to be re-sentenced on tuesday for his federal conviction that at the state level, things are just skin stapted. a kron four's. ken wayne actually had a chance to sit with adviser michael cardoza about what we can expect next. the judge in the federal case said she made a mistake. what happened? well, what she did was after she's sentenced a pop. >> she realized she didn't give him the opportunity to make a statement to the court and then federal court, i think over 80% of defendants want to say something to the court. one of the big things i noted was that the prosecution after the case said he showed no remorse at all. and a lot of people sort of giggled at that. and so we'll wait a minute. didn't give him a chance to show any remorse or to talk. so basically it's not a small point. it's not going to reverse this case. it's not going i think have much effect would be shocked if the judge

after listening hip-hop, if he decides to talk whether she reduces that or not, and he still has a state case which could add more prison time to what he's already. >> yeah, well, i i when i was a prosecutor a lot of state prosecutor to the case and the federal government had a case they would often times just drop in and say, ok, you've got convicted in state court or vice versa. in this case, they're not doing that. a lot of people are asking. >> well, it's not double jeopardy. you're being tried for the same thing is really not because the state has added 4, 5 different counts. one of which is, of course, the attempted murder case and issue is, are elements to for improving the cases in the state court in the elements are different and federal the south, the what's going on in state court. so i don't think jumper double jeopardy will hold.

weekend because the weather is going to be beautiful. so if you are planning to do that, just know that the burgers and hot dogs are going to cost you a little bit more. grocery prices are up this weekend. in some cases, more than 10% from last year. prime example frozen beef patties up more than 15% hot dogs up more than 14. you see on the list there. even the bonds are up about the same price over last year, even if you want to do the lettuce wrap and be healthy. that's also up 14%. study show. let us prices are actually gone up as long as they jumped 5% some ways to save money. you can compare prices of different supermarkets. maybe look at different store go generic, if you can, is pretty much the same and use coupons to don't be a shame. they can save you a lot of money. >> well, the biden administration is now calling for new protections for buy now pay later, shoppers, the consumer financial protection bureau says businesses that offer buy now pay later should allow users to demand refunds to see transactions. the new

rules are meant to be similar to those that are already in place for credit card companies. major buy now pay later, companies such as farm klarna say they're open to new changes to allow for greater transparency. and the state senate passed bills this week that will close a loophole in california is ban of single-use plastic bags. lawmakers say the loophole allow the use of thicker reusable bags, but they've actually made the state's plastic bag problem worse. the bill would require stores buy plastic bags made out of 100% recycled material instead of 40%. lawmakers have until august 31st to pass the bills. all right. coming up on the kron 4 morning news. why restaurants in fisherman's wharf. all the lawsuit against wharf. all the lawsuit against san francisco.

nesbitt caught up with the woman in the parking lot where the truck was taken from. >> there was so much garbage. ask stephanie, go see toups about her blue toyota tacoma and she'll call the trucker prized possession. that's why it was so upsetting when she could not find her keys after shopping at this petco in castro valley, she had triple and walk the vehicle in the parking lot but no keys inside. that's when she feared her keys had been stolen and out all the information in my truck. >> just in case somebody came back and stole that. sure. 9.30, that night. her and 2 accomplices came back and stole my truck. she called 9-1-1 to report that a truck had been stolen. detective kristen fegley and the alameda county sheriff's regional auto theft task force began investigating. >> searching for a blonde woman caught on surveillance video picking up to see toups keys from the ground. i think suspect just saw this crime of opportunity. she found these keys and just >> there's just driving around as if it was only able.

detective fegley says the woman was identified, arrested and charged with felony vehicle theft. though the sheriff's office is not naming the suspect, the truck she allegedly stole was returned to its owner. >> you can understand when you're a victim like that. you know, i like i said, i went through 2 whole nights and not sleeping. and just imagining all the bad things. police using the crime as a reminder to always be vigilant. detective fegley says keep your keys on you and vehicle locked because thieves often look for crimes of opportunity in castro valley. rob nesbitt kron. 4 news. well, we have an update now to a story we first brought you yesterday morning. antioch police are still looking for a man who robbed to contra costa county fair employees. >> now we now know that nearly $90,000 was stolen from them. police say the employees were depositing the money at the bank at summersville road. 2 o'clock monday morning when the suspect pressed a gun to the back of one of them and took off witi a bag full of cash. this was their take for the carnival that day. police

have only describe the suspect as wearing dark clothing. ask this. it was a man they know that officers are looking through evidence right now to see if they identify him better. >> well, the owner of 2 long-standing restaurant at fisherman's wharf is suing san francisco. the suit alleges that the city failed to do its job of maintaining war and keeping the area to code to protect against erosion or earthquakes. the suit also blames homelessness and crime in the area for preventing the restaurant from being successful. they're now asking for financial reimbursement for recent improvements made to the 2 restaurants. the city attorney's office released a statement in response to that lawsuit saying, quote, over the last year, the owner has attempted a number of maneuvers to get out of paying the 1.7 million dollars owes the city in back. rent. so piers, to be yet another attempt. however, once we are served with the lawsuit, we're going review it respond in court. >> time now is 8.34 in people living in an encampment in sandra fell are speaking out

now after a nearby business began blasting loud music at them for the last 3 nights for sara stinson reports. >> federal judge is now involved ordered the business to stop. >> people who live in this encampment say over the weekend music was blaring coming from the business next door they say was happening in the overnight hours. one man even described it as psychological warfare saying he's relieved to federal court, ordered the music to stop. i think people. >> that's how loud it was. rock concert about the second and 3rd night i was unable to sleep at bruce moved into this. sandra encampment last year following a series of unfortunate events. >> i stopped to get medications for mental illness in barstow, california and mike rupp was stolen while it was in their says music started playing loudly overnight friday from the business east bay tire i called the police tend the

police did nothing about so he decided to call homeless advocate paulsen, who came down to the encampment to start documenting it would take took a decibel readings of the >> of the sound. and we measured that the metal the decibels were between 5218 decibels in general. it was far above the center-field noise that was. >> it was illegal. >> on monday, pao's and filed for a restraining order against east bay tire co a judge ordered the business to stop playing the music immediately house and says that higher company's response was the music was coming from their security system along the fence. we reached out to east bay tire co, but they did not respond to a request for comment calls and says they have another court hearing for the music order late next month. get to what they're trying to do. they say >> we haven't been good neighbors to them. but they didn't come up with any police
