summer. we've got you covered with everything you need to know before you drive or fly to your memorial day destination. >> station. he's calling for news 2. >> thank you for joining us here on kron. 4 news at 2. i'm justine waldman. we're going to begin with the 3 people who are hurt during a shooting at a high school graduation ceremony in the east bay kron four's terisa stasio joins us now live from the newsroom with information on the investigation. also, she's just found out with the stool school is doing and has details on this arrest. i we are now learning one person has been arrested in the shooting and authorities continue to search for other suspects as well as other guns involved. here's what we know right now. it was around 8 o'clock last night. there were reports of gunfire erupting at skyline high school in oakland. hundreds had packed a school to attend high school graduation. the school district now telling us that graduation had ended, but there were still many people

out on the field. police now telling us that their investigation reveals as groups or leaving a fight broke out in the parking lot with multiple suspects firing multiple weapons. 2 victims were injured, both taken by paramedics to the hospital. a 3rd victim was located later at an area hospital shot during the altercation. police say that all of the victims are adults. we know that there was one male, one female. those in attendance say it was a chaotic scene. >> 1005 and they had like a bad man. unlike after that, as you see, everyone started running. >> it was like 20 shots. those light. you know, graduation, >> now what they are telling us. i'm from the school district is the statement. quote, what happened after skyline high school graduation

on thursday evening was heartbreaking and absolutely unacceptable. our behavioral health staff is at skyline high school today and will continue to provide support to students. staff and families in the days to come. we've also instituted additional safety and security measures for our remaining graduation ceremonies. that is from the superintendent. the oakland police department is actively looking for additional shooters as well as witnesses and requesting the police to contact them. if anyone knows more about the crime that occurred in the newsroom. therese stasi back to just tree. so thank you so much. the recall of alameda county district attorney pamela price might not be the only recall east bay voters will have to decide on this november. >> members with a group called oakland united are trying to recall oakland mayor sheng thao. they say they have already collected more than 30,000 signatures. and just 25,000 are needed to force mayor thao into a recall election this november.

>> recall is happening. it is going to be on the november ballot. and voters in oakland will be able to live that. the mayor know that we are not pleased with her leadership. oakland has gotten just worst on practically practically every metric. >> we did reach out to mayor taos office for comment so far have not heard back. the mayor maintains crime and homelessness are dropping in oakland. she says over the last year she has overseen the re implementation of the ceasefire program to reduce crime investments in the city's 9-1-1. infrastructure and increase in neighborhood foot patrols. take a look at this. a big rig caught on fire on the upper deck of the bay bridge this morning. it happened just east of treasure island, multiple westbound lanes were closed for hours. the fire has been put out. the

scene is cleared, but the left and center lanes remain blocked. that big rig was carrying produce at the time that it caught on fire. investigators are still working right now to figure out how it caught on fire. what started it? and we're taking a live look here now at the traffic on the bay bridge. this is going into the city right before the toll plaza there. again, they were just saying that the left and center lanes remain blocked as they try to clean up what happened here. so traffic coming into the city. israel backed up right now coming from the east bay. we'll keep you posted as a. we're hoping this will ease up a little bit as we get into our friday evening commute. we have meteorologist kyla grogan here. now details on the weather and pilot. it is definitely cooler out there today. yes, taken a turn, right? we've taken a turn. the clouds are moving in. we saw a little bit of sun here in san francisco in spots depending on what direction you're looking at. >> and the other thing is the wind. you can feel that certainly if you're walking outside or if you're going across any of the bridges today as well. we've gotten quite gusty out there, actually a little bit better right now to san francisco.

there were a couple of hours ago or up to about 21. 22 miles per hour. now at 18. but you can see how this is really spread across the bay livermore. also a little bit gusty at their napa as well and out of san jose city about 15 miles per hour or so. that's going to be part of this as we go through this this front kind of dropping through this low pressure moving in and you can see the clouds that have definitely started to overtake parts of our viewing area. so that does reflect in these temperatures where you can see we're quite cool. half moon bay, 53 degrees, but still just 50's as we move inland spots like hayward. we're at 65 in napa. 61 in livermore. little warmer up in santa rosa, getting some sunshine there. 66 in san jose. so tonight it's going to be all about the cloud cover. it's going to be about the gusty wind temperatures, not bad. looking out for between about 47 in 54 degrees, but certainly a different feeling than we've had over the past few nights. they want to do a quick check of airports and we are running just fine. we have the 23 minute delay at sfo. that is just because of some construction. they've got one of the runways, but other than

that for those who are heading out of town looking pretty good for those are staying in town. i'll have more details on your forecast when come back in a bit. all right. thank you. all of these summer travel season officially kicks off today. >> so for memorial day weekend through labor day weekend, the tsa is thinking it's going to be screening a record number of travelers. many of them flying in and out of san francisco bay, oakland, international airport. and that's where kron 4 suit all spoke with. people heading in and out of town. >> pack light. get there early. and if you do that, flying is a breeze. it's not so bad. the transportation security administration forecasting friday being the busiest travel day of memorial day weekend, anticipating 3 million passengers nationwide. what was on time? got here on time. suitcase arrive. so. at san francisco bay, oakland international airport from now through memorial day. spokesperson kaylee scans says the number of travelers passing are expected to keep pace with

francisco bay, oakland, international airport believe all kron 4 news. >> triple a predicting that this will be the busiest start of summer weekend for travel in about 20 years. nearly 44 million people expected to drive at least 50 miles from now until monday. so if you are planning on driving, you can, of course, expect to pay more than the national average for gas, which is $3.61. here in california. people are paying 5.17, on average for a gallon of gas will take a look at the bay area prices right now. the cheapest in solano and santa clara counties, the most expensive in napa with an average about 5.48 a gallon for regular gas. happening tonight. the chp will be out in full force looking for an unsafe drivers. starting at 6 tonight, extra officers will be out on the roads. law enforcement says last year 46 people died. more than 1100 were arrested for duis during the holiday weekend. maximum enforcement will remain in place until midnight on

tuesday. now to the north, they were thousands of concertgoers are headed up to napa this weekend for the bottle rock music festival. kron 4 s charles clifford is there now. >> well, here at nap on friday, it is the first day of the three-day rock music festival. this really kicks off the beginning of the bay area's a music festival scene for the rest of the summer. now there are 75 fans playing on 5 different stages. there's a lot of food here. a lot of great gourmet food really well here at bottle rock. and then there are lots of things to explore that got wine cabanas. they've also set up a record shop this year. the headliners for this years festival are on friday night. stevie nicks, megan, thee stallion on saturday, it's pearl jam and then ed sheeran and queens of the stone age on sunday. now everyone here is expecting some really good weather. maybe a little cool over the weekend, but everyone is very excited for what they hope will be. some great shows where you're from and what you most excited about from santa rosa just over the hill and

waters across the world. and christopher, i as with the bluewater task force for surfrider in san mateo, he's joining us here now live with what we need to know. thank you so much for joining us. thanks for having me. so let's start with what is this bacteria in the water and then we'll get to the beach in the bay area that you found the most of it. what is causing this problem? >> sure. that's something we're looking the the back to that. we actually measures was called the fecal indicator bacteria. and with issues is trickled into a caucus? and if it's present likelihood other may also be present in the water. ok? so this is human caused. you can come from a number of different as you mentioned, one of our beaches, linda mar beach was was one of the dirtiest beaches measured by the surf riders bluewater task force and there we that that creek that leads into the

beach there. linda marcus has a number of different things that might include old sewer laterals that leak sewage into the creek, urban runoff of various sorts, animal waste from dogs and other pets or the question still a tease and birds and other wildlife. so linda mar beach is the beach in the bay area where we found this issue. >> are you surprised by that? that is the area that's having this issue in the bay area and doesn't sound like it based on that sewage kind of issue that's flowing in. >> no, it it's a bit of a chronic problem with that create feeding into the beach. i'm not in sta's we've been doing gosh you know, almost 15 years now. and this is work being done and they really complements the work that the the beach water testing program run by the san mateo county health department. they test on mondays. we test on thursday. so the beach boys have a fresh water quality information to know it's safe to get in the water for the

weekend and like it was alluded over over half the samples we collect and this lim our beach where the where the creek discharges into the ocean fail to meet the state health standards for people indicator bacteria. >> so would you go swim at the speech? >> i would definitely steer that creek you know, it's basically. what you want to do is you want to check local water quality reports before you get into the water. we the surfrider foundation posts are water results on instagram, facebook and online. you can find or not this information, sir. fred, a downward but also pay attention to advisories and avoid swimming right after it rains. i don't swim or surf near a creek such as phdro creek or other outlets, or storm water drains and then important you know, you want people to rinse off with clean fresh water before you eat. but when you leave the beach. >> so can anything be done to kind of clean up that area and make this beach linda mar

pattern is going to change. i wanted to start with a little forecast for my battle rockers out there. >> take your jackets tonight. we talked about this yesterday, but just want to kind of reiterate that we're cool out there right now show you the current temperatures in a second. but tonight and then tomorrow, the 1st half of the day, obviously temperatures are set to be even cooler tomorrow. but we also have that cloud coverage in earlier tomorrow because we're going to start off the day with it. but by the afternoon, we'll be looking pretty good sunday. you can see we've got some nice sunshine in some warmer temperatures. but right now in napa, just 65 degrees. that's chilly. so bundle up. do that layering thing that we do here in the bay area? you can see 50's around much of the day. the only spot in the 70's right now is santa rosa. difference in temperatures in 24 hours ago to now big difference, 18 degrees cooler. if you're in concord, but really across the entire bay area. we are cooler. so just be prepared for that. as you head out the door wind is also to be picking up as we go throughout our evening tonight. so this is about 6.30. you can see quite gusty. and that continues right into the late evening hours. so

that's another thing that makes it feel a little bit cooler. and then of course, we want to talk about why this is happening, which is we've been under the influence of high pressure that's giving us these kind of seasonal or above average temperatures. now we've got some low pressure influencing our forecast and that means the chance of a little bit of a sprinkle on saturday morning. i think not much, but maybe a little drizzle and certainly the cooler temperature profile. here's a look at stormtracker 4. you can really see where that low pressure center press in now. and it does have limited moisture available with it. but still, it is there in the clouds are coming with it and the onshore flow kind of that cooler moister air mass as we roll into our saturday. you can see in the morning. that's what expect. any drizzle to happen after that in the afternoon. it looks really good right through into our weekend and into monday for our memorial day holiday, where we're going to be sunny and warm again. so pretty nice forecast. we just get past tonight. and tomorrow, the first part of the day and they're going back some really nice seasonal temperatures for the holiday. and as we roll right into next week. kron 4 is celebrating a

>> i was jumping up and down when i saw it coming down the road because cops came in first and then the co we've got we've got it and they should >> with their stolen truck now found a castro valley woman is relieved to say the least. kron four's rob nesbitt caught up with the woman in the parking lot where her truck was taken. >> so much garbage. ask stephanie, go see toups about her blue toyota tacoma and called the trucker prized possession. that's why it was so upsetting when she could not find her keys after shopping at this petco in castro valley, she had triple and walk the vehicle in the parking lot but no keys inside. that's when she feared her keys had been stolen. they dot all the information in my truck. >> just in case somebody came back and stole that. sure. 9.30, that night. her and 2 accomplices came back and stole my truck. she called

9-1-1 to report that a truck had been stolen. detective kristen fegley and the alameda county sheriff's regional auto theft task force began investigating. >> searching for a blonde woman caught on surveillance video picking up to see toups keys from the ground. i think suspect just saw this crime of opportunity. she found these keys and just >> there's just driving around as if it was her own vehicle. detective fegley says the woman was identified, arrested and charged with felony vehicle theft. though the sheriff's office is not naming the suspect, the truck she allegedly stole was returned to its owner. >> you can understand you when you're a victim like that. you know, i like i said, i want to to pull nights and not sleeping and just imagining all the bad police using the crime as a reminder to always be vigilant. detective fegley says keep your keys on you and vehicle locked because thieves often look for crimes of opportunity in castro valley. rob nesbitt kron. 4 news. >> police in daly city looking for 2 suspects accused of stealing from a store and

assaulting an employee as they were attempting to take boxes of candy. this all happened at the smart and final grocery store on mission street. officials say the st manager asked a man and a woman who are leaving the ste w candy boxes fothe receipt. the male suspect allegedly then punched the manager 3 times in the ribs before leaving the scene with 45 candy boxes that stolen merchandise valued at $175. anyone with information should contact. daly, city police. the santa clara stadium authority and the forty-niners have reached an agreement to resolve long-standing disputes related to operations at levi stadium. the city of santa clara says the settlement agreement reduces the amount of money the stadium authority owes to the niners and will provide the city a performance rent payment. the deal also amends, various agreements that will result in new revenue to santa clara on a yearly basis. uc berkeley is updating its brand from cow to

people living in the camp meant in sandra fell are now speaking out. they say that a nearby business has been blasting loud music at them for the last 3 nights as kron 4 sarah stinson reports a federal judge is now involved and has ordered that business to turn it down. >> people who live in this encampment say over the weekend music was blaring coming from the business next door they say was happening in the overnight hours. one man even described it as psychological warfare saying he's relieved to federal court, ordered the music to stop. i think people. >> that's how loud it was. rock concert lout. the second 3rd night i was unable to sleep at bruce moved into this same refill encampment last year following a series of unfortunate events. >> i stopped to get medications for mental illness in barstow, california and mike rupp was stolen while it was in their says music

black college and university in the city. mayor london breed says 60 interns from hbc use across the country will be living and learning in san francisco the summer. she says this is the first step to building the long-term future of hbc use in san francisco, mayor breed says local organizations have already partnered up to form and help push this plan forward. road safety. top of mind at the state capitol as a new bill aimed at regulating autonomous vehicles passed the state assembly yesterday. this bill would make autonomous cars report any accidents or malfunctions to the dmv, the agency would that make that data available to the public? san francisco assemblymember matt haney says the goal is to make ab companies more accountable and improved public trust. governor gavin newsom has signed a bill into law allowing arizona doctors to come to california to perform abortions on their patients. this is coming after the arizona supreme court ruled in favor of 18, 64 law banning nearly all abortions in that state. and since then,

the arizona legislature and the governor repealed the law. but that repeal is not going to start until the so the meantime, governor newsom is hoping that california can be of help to those who need the procedure. and then a statement. new newsom said, quote, california will remain a safe harbor ready to defend abortion access because we value women's health and trust women to make the most intimate decisions about their bodies, health and futures. the white house is sending millions of dollars to law enforcement agencies to help address overdose epidemic and also crack down on the list drug trafficking. washington correspondent reshad hudson has more. >> in cities, suburbs and small towns, there's hardly a family or a community that has not been touched by this doctor. rowe gupta, director of the white house office of national drug control policy says drug trafficking is impacting far too many people. we know that we're losing

hurricane power for those that expecting? 47 major meeting above category 3 hurricane. so we need warm water. we converging winds that forced that air upwards. now, once air is going upwards, we need abundant moisture to be encountered and then we need a good source of upper level winds. now we're currently in al nino, a kind interestingly about upper level winds. el nino tends to cut off some of those upper level winds which means less injuries. hurricanes la nina, which were expected to flip to very quickly here as we move into hurricane season is the opposite of that. it allows those storms to keep going because the upper level winds are weak. so obviously you look towards the caribbean and you see that the water temperature is very warm. they have what's called a warm current, meaning it's travels from south to north. very different in the pacific where we have what's called a cold current because we have a current that travels from the north to the south and obviously huge difference in water temperatures. now, that doesn't mean that we can't experience hurricanes last year. of course, we had one that ended up bringing some

remnants into parts of southern california and it can create a lot of rain for us as well. but thankfully, we do not get the intensity usually of the storms that they see. and i say usually because they feel like things are changing, right. and one of the things that's been changing as those water temperatures have been going up worldwide and that is where the big concern is for these storms become more intense because it simply fuel for the fire. all right. let's take a look at temperatures in in the west coast. here is we're talking about the pacific ocean. obviously much cooler temperatures today, although we do see bakersfietd there made it up to that 81 degree. mark. but we are cool. we are cloudy. we are breezy out there. temperatures are affecting that san francisco. 57 degrees. so lots of 50's barely write santa rosa. 72. that's all i've got. and we're going even cooler as we get into tomorrow. but then we do kind of pull out of it as we head into the rest of the holiday weekend. i'll be back in a bit. we'll talk about that with your extended forecast. documentary filmmaker morgan spurlock has died. most people know him for his super size. me documentary. >> where he only mcdonald's

fairfield, 16 in mountain view, 17 in livermore. we're kind of all getting involved in this with the exception of maybe santa rosa's, not too bad right now. 66 in san jose. these temperatures are cool out there today. 57 in alameda. 56 in downtown san francisco. 65 and map out where my bottle rock folks are getting ready to have a good time. and as i mentioned, santa rosa, probably the warmest spot there today, getting a little more sunshine in about 72 showing storm tracker 4. obviously a lot of these clouds are kind of hovering around the peninsula heading into parts of the east bay in the south bay, north bay is sharing a little bit better. having said that, you can see this low pressure kind of pressing in bringing those clouds, bringing that little chance of moisture. probably just the tune of a couple of sprinkles in the overnight. but the biggest effect really is temperatures that we're feeling and we're taking walnut creek example here today. tomorrow, cool rebounding on sunday into monday and then looking pretty good as we head into next week. but today, tomorrow, at least the 1st half of the day tomorrow, show you this future cast, though tonight. obviously clouds moving in. we

get into tomorrow morning. you see a little chance of drizzle. just a few dots of green showing up on the radar. i don't think it's going much of anything after that that saturday afternoon. so now we're looking good and we kind of stay that way. we do get a few clouds on your sunday morning on your monday morning as well. but other than that, we're going have some nice sunshine and it gives those temperatures a chance to move back up in at least get into average territory. so that means our holiday on monday is looking good for any events that are happening there for memorial day. and then we begin next week with some nice sunshine and slightly cool temperatures with still pretty nice. thank you. rapper sean kingston arrested yesterday at fort irwin army base in san bernardino county. he's facing fraud and theft charges in florida. >> swat raided his home and a town about 15 miles west of fort lauderdale. kingston's mother also arrested. she pleaded guilty in 2006 to bank fraud and a previous case. kingston is accused of defrauding a company but not

fully paying for a $150,000 232 inch tv in a lawsuit that was filed by vir vir entertainment. it's kingston put down a $30,000 deposit for the tv and then promised to promote the company with singer justin bieber. the company says it installed that tv, but kingston did not make the rest of the payments or promote the business with bieber. according to the lawsuit, bieber and kingston no longer work together. kingston posted on social media yesterday saying his lawyers were handling everything, but it's not clear why he was in fort irwin, the kentucky police officer who arrested the top ranked golfer scottie scheffler outside of the pga championship is now being disciplined for not having his body camera activated. there's new surveillance video showing scheffler trying to make its way around that car accident while entering into the golf course. and you can see one officer starts to run towards the car before scheffler comes to a stop and other start to approach as well. that first
