citizens app. you could muni bus right there and a stretcher in the middle of the road. thanks for joining us on kron. 4 news at 5. i'm grant lotus and i'm noelle bellow. that crash was reported around 2.30 this afternoon. police say it happened at the intersection of balboa and 44th avenue. >> that's where we find kron four's lezla gooden with the very latest details lezla what we know right now. >> yes, well, police tell me that they believe a man in his mid 20's was on a motorcycle when he was running news driving in this area. and they believe that he ran a stop sign a crashed into a city now they say that, you know, they were out here and again, that more people who were on the bus, they were not injured. but let me tell you what the scene looked like before it has cleared so the crash happened around 2.30, this afternoon. at this intersection. and we're told that investigators were able to review the video. the crash

from witnesses in the neighborhood. now police say the video shows a motorcycle running through the stop sign. and by doing that, the bus driver did run over his now that writer was taken to a nearby hospital and is in is expected to survive, but does have some serious injuries. >> now, the bus, like i said, did have 10 passengers on board and they and of that witnesses did see the accident and they were able to talk to neighbors as well. and also neighbors tell us at this intersection, it's pretty dangerous and police officers did confirm that saying that they have noticed an increase of absence here because it's typically a quiet area and people tend to not stop. so we will keep you guys all updated when more information is available. live richmond was going con for news. all right, thank you for that live report. we'll continue update folks on this crash. let's talk about our forecast now as we take a >> live look at the bay bridge toll plaza. anyone i know who is coming to the city from the east bay today has been stuck

in some traffic. >> it's been a slow go for most of the day. and we also the big change in the weather today. a significant cool down as people get set for the holiday weekend. chief meteorologist lawrence karnow is here with what we need to know. a lot of people headed on the roads today. that's for sure. and what a change in the weather in just these last 24 hours. look at the winds kicking around outside that sea breeze really strengthening overnight and well, we left a lot of clouds and some places not clearing out. also that really drastically drop the temperatures around someplace to 15, almost 20 degrees cooler the 24 hours ago. so 50's along the coastline inside the baby got a mix of 50's and a few 60's. the valley's that have been looking at 70's and 80's boy, you're struggling to get even the 60's in some spots. only 58 degrees right now in dublin, 62 in concord. still a warm 70 in vacaville and 70 degrees in calistoga. but things really change now as we get ready for the holiday weekend, we've got a weak system kind of sliding on through bringing with it some

much cooler air to the bay area. of course, all that cloud cover. just slow to break up out there. you can see already pushing onshore once again. it will be in place tomorrow morning and a deep enough for marine layer. we might actually see some drizzle tomorrow morning to go along with that, too. things going to be a little damp to start out the whole day weekend. if you're headed out the yeah. a lot of clouds out there right now. and then maybe breaking up just slightly as we head toward 8 o'clock, but not by much. and then i think everything is going to start to fill in as we head through the evening hours. so if you're headed out the door, grab a light jacket with you well over the weekend. but here's the good news. it looks like tomorrow. it's going to be pretty cool outside to see the fog and low cloud cover really kind of thinking all the way in the central valley by tomorrow morning by the afternoon. that does break up a bit, not entirely along the coastline, but looks like a little more sunshine as we get in towards sunday of some morning fog and more fog on the way. it looks like a monday but warmer temperatures in spots by the afternoon. guys, back to you. >> thanks, lawrence. memorial day traffic was already going to be an issue today.

everything became even worse earlier this afternoon as a big rig was involved in a fiery crash. take a look at this video showing those flames engulfing the semi truck in the middle of the upper deck of the bridge. this is just east of treasure island. >> that crash forced westbound lanes to shut down for hours. drivers telling kron 4 it took them more than an hour just to get through the year. but boy, in a tunnel, the fire has been put out scene has been cleared all lanes have been reopened. but as you saw a little bit earlier, traffic still very slow. the big rig was carrying produce at the time it caught on fire. investigators are still trying to figure out how it all started. in the south. bay crews are working to clear a deadly crash that spilled around 100 gallons of fuel on the southbound one to one. >> this happened just north of blossom hill road around 11 this morning. investigators say a 22 year-old man from san jose got on the freeway and was driving north in the southbound lanes before he collided with that big break.

the 22 year-old was thrown from his car, died at the scene.tthe driver of the big rig was not hurt. 2 left lanes are closed. the highway patrol says those lanes are expected to stay closed into this evening. >> happening tonight, chp will be out in full force looking for unsafe drivers starting at 6 extra officers are going to be on our roads. law enforcement says last year 46 people died and more than 1100 were arrested for duis during the memorial day holiday weekend. maximum enforcement period is going to remain in place until midnight tuesday. police continue to look for suspects involved in that shooting at a high school graduation last night. >> and they're now offering a reward of up to $15,000 for info that leads to an arrest. the shooting was at skyline high school in oakland kron four's terisa stasio reports. >> violence turns a graduation ceremony into a crime scene. it was around 8 thursday evening when 9-1-1 calls rang

out, reporting gunfire at skyline. high in oakland, hundreds had packed a school to attend high school graduation. the oakland unified school district tells us graduation had ended, but there were still many people on the field and on campus. the school district now announcing additional safety and security measures for remaining graduation ceremonies. in a statement friday, the district said, quote, what happened after skyline high school graduation on thursday evening was heartbreaking and absolutely unacceptable. our behavioral health staff is at skyline high today and will continue to provide support to students. staff and families in the days to come. according to oakland, police is groups relieving thursday's graduation ceremony. a fight broke out in the parking lot with multiple suspects firing from multiple weapons. 2 people injured were taken by paramedics to the hospital. a 3rd person also shot was later found at an area hospital.

police say that all victims are adults. those in attendance say it was a chaotic scene. >> 1005 and they had like a bad man. unlike after that, as you see, everyone started running. >> it was like 20 shots. those light. you know, graduation >> you know, you're going come. police department is looking for the additional shooters in this case as well as the weapons involved. they are also asking the public. >> that if they were a witness to the crime, to please come forward in the newsroom to recess stasio kron. 4 news. >> high school student in santa rosa has been arrested after police say he brought a knife to school. police responded to montgomery high school wednesday after learning 2.15, year-old boys got into a fight. school officials initially told police there were no weapons involved and they would be handling the incident themselves. but later that

day, police return to campus after administrators. look video that showed one of the boys had a folding knife. police arrested that 15 year-old and he was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a weapon on school grounds. >> bottle rock music festival is well underway in napa this evening. thousands of concertgoers will be flocking to the stage is all weekend long tonight headliners stevie nicks and megan, the stallion are set to hit the stage in total. 75 fans will perform through sunday evening. we caught up with some attendees to score tickets to the sold-out event. >> from santa rosa just over the hill and musk's it pearl jam tomorrow. so we have 3 day looking for tonight's the next few nights. i think today's this holiday tomorrow, there's a little chillier. so will dress in layers like we do in the bay area. so we'll be good. >> it's going to find out their pearl jam, as you heard is headlining saturday night sunday. fans will get to see ed sheeran close out the festival.

voters will have to decide this november. a group called oust oakland united to recall sheng thao says they've already collected more signatures. they needed to force a recall of oakland's mayor kron four's dan kerman reports. >> tao is definitely tell. she's on her way out. opponents of oakland mayor sheng thao say they have so far gathered 30,000 signatures 5,000 more 25,000 needed to force a recall election in november. voters in oakland will be able to live that. the mayor know that we are not pleased with her leadership. too many abandoned. has gotten just it was problematic lead by practically every mayor thao takes issue with that and points to oakland police crime stats indicating crime is down 17% over the last 3 years and down 34% when you compare last year. >> to this year, crime is

down. 34% this year with deep reductions in burglary, car big being, which is breaking of windows and most importantly, homicides. >> how about backers of the recall admit some crimes are down. they also make the claim that's because people aren't reporting crimes as much as they used to. and because fed-up retailers have closed their stores crime. absolutely not down anyway. that means something for the crime. it's not down to the way that makes feel safe. crime is not on the way that businesses pull recalled backers say they will wait until they have 40,000 signatures to file since tao only received just under 40,000st choice votes in the first round of the ranked choice voting election. >> back in november of 2022. that sends the message. >> we are going to have more people signing to recall, know, bo, to do for you to get elected in the first place. we will be calling upon her to resign if a majority of oakland residents vote in

that cool air has really kicked out towards sfo. you see some of the winds out there that fog already making its way onshore. never, really clearing some slight delays at sfo of 23 minutes. no delays being reported at oakland or san jose. you're looking good there. how about the high country are seeing a couple of pop-up storms again this afternoon. even a couple lightning strikes and that's something you want to watch out for this year. if you're headed up there this weekend, these thunderstorms, they're going to be random and they're going to be popping up up there. and so if you plan to do any camping and hiking, afternoon hours for some big buildups in the mountains and the possibility of some thunderstorms. temperatures out the door. they are in the 50's across the great lake tahoe area. looking good up there. not bad at all. you're getting forecast. the monterey bay. how about that? a little drizzle in the monterey bay. maybe some drizzle locally to temperatures only in the 50's and low 60's. go to stay cool there. southern california. you can see a mixture of some sunshine. a couple passing clouds, very comfortable. 72 in pasadena, 69 in los angeles and 60 degrees in long beach. if you plan to head the high country, of course, a beautiful time of year to go

merchandise was valued at $175. anyone with information is being asked to contact daly city police and in palo alto. police are looking for 3 people who they say stole about $30,000 in cigarettes from a semi truck, making a delivery happened shortly before 8 o'clock yesterday morning at the shell gas station on el camino right now, the victims described the suspects as men in their 20's, all wearing dark clothing with ski masks, covering their faces. they also drove off in a new or suv. the white house is sending more than 276 million dollars to law enforcement. >> to try to help address the overdose epidemic in crack down on illicit drug trafficking. the main goals are to get drugs like fentanyl off the streets as well as reduce drug related gun violence and they want to dismantle money-laundering operations. the money will cover efforts in all 50 states. >> we want to make sure that every life that we can say we

money. the stadium authority owes to the niners and will provide the city a performance rent payment. the deal also amends, various agreements that will result in new revenue to santa clara on a yearly basis. and big changes coming to college sports. many athletes will soon be paid by their universities. it's all part of a proposed settlement of 3 lawsuits against the ncaa. the 2.8 billion dollar deal involves the athletics association and the 5 major college sports conferences. money would go to more than 14,000 current and former student athletes prevented from earning money from sponsorships and endorsements. the deal also includes a revenue sharing model that would directly pay athletes a portion of future profits made by their athletic programs. there are still some open questions likely to lead to lawsuits here just like how much control schools can happe over athletes, endorsement deals and how title 9 gender equity laws would apply.

union square in san francisco. nintendo has announced they will be opening a new store downtown. one other major retailers have begun closing up shop good news for everyone involved. kron four's rob nesbitt reports on how customers will experience the world. >> of nintendo. >> the video games of the 10 do spend multiple generations fun for kids of today and the stealth jet for adults who grew up playing on friday announced that they will be opening a new store. san francisco being the lucky location. what i heard the news this morning, you know, jumping up and down. san francisco mayoral candidate. aaron peskin is the supervisor for the district where union square is located and women plans on opening its new store. the company says it will be a place for a wide range of visitors to experience the world amid its products and characters from mario kart up. oh, come on. the amazing it's going to attract young people, but also people my age who are nostalgic about nintendo and see exactly what union square needs. it's an attractive
