2:18 pm
to say i love tahoe in the summer when the sun is out and it's beautiful out there. it is a great place to be. so let's take a look at our weather and you can see that we're talking about memorial day today. temperatures 50's out of the coast sunday 60's and 70's around the bay. and then even a few 80's inland and warmer spots. so good day out there. you can see that we've got that mix of sun and clouds and more clouds than sun right now as we take a live look here at the east having said that, it is far more cloudy out at the coast where you can see that we've got the marine layer in full effect, although i have to say being a holiday, you can see a lot of folks are out there anyway, enjoying the coast. not really too worried about the cloud. so a good for you guys are out there. probably a little bit chilly, though, because it is just 53 degrees. if you're headed that way, you want to stay bundled up as those clouds are likely to say, hang on all throughout the day. but temperatures are warm. san jose morgan hill about 73. you can see we're in the 70's as well in spots like livermore, dublin, about 75 in concord around the bay itself. oakland, about 60 degrees. san francisco downtown at about
2:19 pm
57. but sunshine. also breaking through up in the north bay. you can see 76 degrees in santa rosa cloverdale at about 81. so pretty nice memorial day out there. we are seeing the breezes pick up a bit fairfield right now up to 20 miles per hour. we are in the teens and san francisco also are in the east bay and south bay and even up santa rosa reconsider about 13 miles per hour. so breezy conditions today and also into tomorrow. basically what's going on here is high pressure still in control. we're kind of zone. all right. nothing too dramatic happening. but as we get into about thursday, that high pressure is going to nudge up and you can see those colors, the brighter colors start to move to the north. that means we are going to warm up a bit as we get into thursday friday and then we kind of go back to that thing. high-pressure hanging out the pacific is a typical summer pattern that allows any rain to shoot to the north of us. and that's what we're seeing. that low pressure stays up in the northwest. high pressure kind of hangs out right here. and we sit in between where we get the fog in the morning and in the evening. and then during the afternoon we get some really nice sunshine in most parts of the bay. that's what we're getting right now.
2:20 pm
so as we look over the next 7 days, you can see tomorrow very similar to today. highs topping out in the mid 70's inland. they're going to warm it up wednesday into thursday and friday. i do believe will peak there thursday and friday before pull back a little bit for the weekend. but still above average in some really nice looking sunshine for next weekend as well. thank you. kyla. the government papa new guinea says that that huge landslide 3 days ago has buried. >> they figure more than 2000 people. if true, that's more than triple initial un estimate about 150 houses were buried beneath debris. the debris about 2 stories high. most people were sleeping when it happened and other mountains in that area. this is a tough region to get into. so aid has been really slow in reaching people. international relief workers also require military escorts because of nearby tribal warfare. there has been another report of passengers being injured by turbulence. this time it was a qatar flight headed to dublin.

millions of americans fly home after the long holiday weekend. there is concern that turbulence could getting more frequent just yesterday. transportation secretary pete buttigieg said there are indications turbulence is up around 15%. some people blaming climate change last year. one study said there has been evidence of spikes in clear air turbulence over the last 4 decades. experts say the severe incidents, though, are still rare. the cdc says 109 people in 29 states were infected with the salmonella strain related to a backyard poultry. that includes 3 cases here in california. the agent says there might be many more people affected than that number reported. 33 people have been hospitalized. no reported deaths. officials have not found. they say any single poultry supplier tied to those outbreaks. with the
