palestinians gather together at vigil in oakland after a weekend air strike in rafah kills dozens of people. >> from the area's local news station, you're watching the kron. 4 morning far. >> welcome to morning and thank you for waking with bright and early for the kron. 4 morning news on may 28th. i'm reyna harvey. many of you have the weekend off. lot of you are returning to other people different things across the bay area. so we've got you covered. how the weather is going to be today. john sabol has that looking at the forecast. good morning a little back to reality for us this morning after what was maybe a three-day weekend for a lot of us yesterday. i really hope that you had a chance to step out there and enjoy it. >> it was a nice day, but it was on the cooler side of things. and today, in fact, he's going to be even cooler yet for a lot of spots for just one more day before we warm things up from here on out. this is your view outside

this morning at the east bay hills. definitely quite the fog bank that has swept in from the coast this morning, pushing on into the bay with a generous onshore breeze. what this is doing is resulting in that really cold ocean air ocean temperatures out there surprisingly cold pushing on inland across the bay and that's this foggy blankets going to stay with us a little bit longer than it did yesterday. right now around 20 to 25 miles per hour. gusts at the coastline. we've got 15 to 20 miles per hour gusts inland and all of it immediately from the west is making for that cool down today. so you'll notice it is you're getting outside that foggy blanket impeding visibility on some of our coastal areas with some heavy drizzle near the coastline this morning, 40's to 50's for our current temperatures. nevado in sonoma at 48 degrees. concord oakland-alameda. 53 to kick the morning off later on today. daytime highs will only reach the 60's to 70's for the vast majority of us with only a few low 80's at or very

warmest inland. i will be talking a warming trend after today. still to come in your full forecast roadways this morning, definitely looking at some cloud cover overhead at the bay bridge. but you're not seeing any visibility issues out there right now on the 8 minutes. but as it is a back to work day for so many people do expect that drive time to go up here shortly. san mateo bridge at 12 minutes to make your crossing their the richmond center fell in the vicinity of some fog. watch for in the north bay, especially along highway 37 in 101 golden gate bridge are dealing with a little bit of that this morning. generally a pretty steady breeze from the coast. 20 minutes from novato to the toll plaza. reena. thank you, john. happening today, scott peterson, man convicted of killing his wife, laci. >> is set to appear in court via zoom this morning. his defense team, the los angeles innocence project. they've been trying to get him a new trial gathering new evidence they want to dna test or wrote in a stolen van beurden right near the peterson's home around the time his wife laci went missing. the stanislaus

county district attorney's office said to be opposing that motions. homicide investigation continues in san jose after police say they found a woman dead inside of a home. the suspect is now in custody. how that moment? has that story? >> well, neighbors tell us they heard more than 6 shots fired around 5.50, on monday evening right here on 20th street in san jose. police say they responded just shortly after 6 pm. now, meantime, this is supposed to be a holiday weekend, which families can be together. but as one san jose police officer put it on his way out, he called this incident, quote, family problems too. police say they responded shortly after 6 to reports of the shooting. they found a suspect barricaded in the home. more than 2 hours later is when our cameras were there to show police taking someone out of the home in a gurney. and officer told me more than 100 officers were here as they waited for the suspect and they are now investigating this as a homicide. neighbors say the people living in that home where a mom in her 50's

and a son in his 20's. now police say they will remain on scene here on 20th street for hours investigating this possible shooting. they call it now. meantime, they also say that a motive or factors leading up to this incident are still unknown reporting in san jose. jack moment. kron 4 news. >> well, a driver is dead after a car that pinned underneath a truck. this happened yesterday afternoon in san jose. right on the corner of montaque expressway in o toole avenue. the cause is still under investigation. people work near the intersection say they've seen drivers here traveling fast and recklessly. >> i know that this is very dangerous because i usually walk to catch another bus when there's no route here and i feel kind of and say, you know what i'm doing to cross road. so cars are coming really fast. >> well, police plan offer more details on this crash later on today. conquered police responded to 2 separate barricade situations within minutes of each other. people

in both incidents have been detained. well, where sarah stinson has that story. >> a busy night for concord police. 2 separate scenes with a barricaded suspect here on saint francis drive. a shelter-in-place has been lifted but investigators are still trying to figure out what happened here on rose brook court. police got called to a home here just off of kowal road around 6 o'clock. police say a mom lives there with her 3 daughters and a neighbor came over armed with a gun, threatening them. the family ran out of the home. they fully they are safe. they called police officers on scene. then heard gunshots coming from inside the home. that's when they put a shelter-in-place for people who live nearby. police were making a plan to get the man out safely when he came out on his own around 8 o'clock, he was armed with a gun. he was then brought into custody. i'm told the man arrested is 47 year-old christian stewart and

police are trying to figure out what his motive was drugs and alcohol involved. meanwhile, officers were also at the scene of another barricaded suspect in an apartment complex on detroit avenue. this scene started around 3 o'clock in the afternoon when neighbors called police saying a man was screaming acting crazy with a blowtorch and waving knives around. police responded and learned the man had been evicted from this apartment a couple of weeks ago and he returned and broke into that unit. police spent hours with a crisis negotiator trying to get him out. a police dog was used to get the man in custody. officers say he was bit by a dog around 8 o'clock tonight and brought to a hospital with minor injuries. police say 35 year-old ahmed davis will be booked into jail afterwards. we saw officers going door to door here on roseburg court, trying to talk with neighbors about what happened. police say a lot more to come with their investigation. i'm sara stinson reporting in concord kron. 4 news.

>> well, developing now, police say at least 5 people including a child, were shot in sacramento. police say it happened shortly after 8 last night in a neighborhood south sacramento police say the 5 victims. we're standing outside of an apartment complex when they were shot. officials say the victims are all expected to survive. police have not said what led up to that shooting. driver was arrested santa rosa after leading noma county deputies on a pretty lengthy car chase. the whole thing caught on thermal chopper camera. so take a look at start around 9 in santa rosa saturday night. authorities say a deputy tried to stop a great bmw driving recklessly on santa rosa tom. right. that's when investigators the driver sped off started heading towards downtown santa rosa. >> authorities say the car eventually lost control, crashed into a wall and a tree on south a street. the driver was arrested on several violations. happening today. the area leaders are going to gather asked state leaders to

help build safe crossings over railroad tracks on the peninsula. senator josh becker, who represents parts of santa tale, santa clara counties calling on the state legislature and the governor to include 100 million dollars in state budget for the project. the money will help build the crossings and locations that are high risk and improve public safety to alleviate traffic congestion. conference is set for 8.30 this morning. that's going to burlingame broadway, a train crossing, california drive and broadway. many gathered yesterday to pay their respects in san francisco's national cemetery every year. thousands of people come out and they place flags on graves. well, house speaker nancy pelosi says we should not only remember those who died. also try to build a better world in their memory. >> so we have to work together to come together. one nation.

we are 4 things you know, today, nearly 10% of the economy, lumber company in oakland. it's gone after a massive fire over the weekend. it took nearly 85 fires to put out the blaze and opened fire. crews are still cleaning up the mess left behind. no injuries were reported. well, new york police are looking for this teen on your screen. it was reported missing yesterday. they say 5 foot. 8 plays 130 pounds. he was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt, blue gym shorts, grey sox and blue running shoes. a successful rescue in san francisco after raccoons chased a dog over the side of a cliff. the 7 in the pretrial hill neighborhood dog wasn't

hurt and has reunited with his owner. outside of voters are going to have a tax measure on the november ballot. this is for the renovation for the city's public libraries. the city council voted unanimously to perform with a 290 million dollar general bond. and the measure will come back for the city council's final approval june. take a look. firefighters but not a truck that was on fire in napa. this happened around 3 yesterday afternoon right off or use canyon road in napa. firefighters quickly put out the flames before they spread any further. we don't have any word on how that fire started. well, know yesterday, john, in my neck of the woods, it was so gusty. >> not sure if it was as gusty up an app of it. you can see how the firefighters might be struggling with those fires. and that's it's a reminder up see that fire like that during drier months can easily spread

to some of those oak trees around into the grass. is. >> good news firefighters got there really quick. it%did look a little calmer in napa, but parts of the bay area, including richmond up and down the peninsula at the coastline. these were all super gusty spots where wind was just pushing through because of this cool coastal breeze, which is really even more noticeabhe today. take a look at this very dense fog blanket that is moving in at quite the nice clip from the coastline through the peninsula this morning. this is a dense or fog blanket than yesterday was going to stay put with us longer, have a very strong westerly wind as we do have a low pressure system passing a right to our north. and this is the recipe right here. this time of year for seeing this cold push of air on into the bay. and that's exactly what we have going on this morning. so temperatures are actually going take a little dip from where we were yesterday, which was already a mild day. today is going to be a little bit cooler after today. high

pressure builds in more and more. and we are going to be seeing temperatures climbing for the latter half of the week. you can see here this blanket of grey sitting across the bay area this morning. we'll take a little bit longer for it to burn off, but we will have some afternoon sunshine tomorrow. we will see less of a fog blankets still present, but not as much and wednesday, a little warmer thursday. even warmer yet with thursday and friday being our warmest days of this forecast. so where is today? you know, and this is going to be 50's to 60's in san francisco and for our coastal areas where it remains pretty socked in all day 60's to 70's for the vast majority of the rest of the day. carlos at 68 degrees today, south bay temperatures mostly in the 70's with san jose and campbell at 76 pleasanton, you'll be at 71 while hayward oakland on up to richmond, all hanging on to the 60's this afternoon. only a few low 80's in antioch, vacaville youngsville as well as santa rosa. looking ahead tomorrow, temperatures will

reach the 80's for more of our inland areas. 70's returning to the bay shore after that thursday and friday are very warmest days. i expect to see in 90 or 2 on the map with some 70's up along the bayshore nearing 80 degrees. the weekend will cool down just a little bit. but still 70's and 80's making for a sunny and increasingly warm forecast roadways this morning. going to be a lot busier than they were yesterday yesterday. it was so empty out there. one of the pluses of having that 3 day weekend is you don't really see. the morning commute as much. but do you know today is a back to work day? so you're going to be riding into everyone, get back to life. you can see richmond center fell bridge at 7 minutes. as you make your crossing there, little breezy, blustery and foggy as you make your golden gate bridge crossing reyna. thank you, john. >> well, palestinians gathered last night in the east bay organizations calling for cease-fire in the middle together, this vigil at the lake merritt amphitheater in oakland last night's event was called all eyes on rafah

following an israeli air strike that killed at least 45 people and a tent camp late sunday night to those people kill are set to be hamas terrorists. white house national security spokesperson says israel has a right to go after hamas. they must take every precaution possible to protect civilians as well as prime minister calling it a tragic mistake with an investigation. now underway. happening today, assembly member matt haney plans to announce a bill aims to remove cancerous chemicals found and firefighters uniforms according to that bill forever, chemicals are found in the uniforms and they're known of the carcinogens. previously studies linked the chemical cancer and other serious health effects. they also found exposure to them leads to higher rates of cancer. among firefighters. if the bill passes, it would ban the chemicals from being used in the gear starting july first 2026. it's the final

>> all right. welcome back to the kron. 4 morning news. many of you are heading back to work from that nice vacation that you had over the past few days. what you need to know how the weather is going to be and how to dress. good morning. big good morning. we are looking at today. that is going to be a little cooler than yesterday that dense fog blanket pushing in from the coastline at a big seller rated pace this morning. >> around 2025 miles per hour. gusts at the coast look at that blanket shrouding a good half of the transamerica building this morning. we are seeing visibility being affected at the coast as well as in some of our east bay hills in north bay as well. so do watch for some low visibility spot since this fog pushes inland. it's going to take a little longer to burn off. also, watch for a few wet areas near the coastline as this blanket of fog is coming along with some mist and drizzle in some spots winds. you can see the push from the

west around 20 to 25 miles per hour gusts at times, especially near the coastline. now, temperatures right now are in the 40's to 50's pairing that with the fog. it is cool out there. so go ahead. throw that extra layer on. definitely a morning to not be out there for to log without something. cozy ready to go as we move into the afternoon today, do in notice temperatures a little cooler than yesterday, actually 60's to 70's for most of our daytime highs as compared to yesterday. this is a couple degrees cooler before we eventually do things do warm things up for the rest of the forecast. as for your roads, things are moving along. okay. despite any sort of fog, it's not impeding visibility at the bay bridge. so you're 13 minutes to get you across there. mateo bridge, 12 minutes. you know, traffic is going to pick up more and more today as so many of us are back to work from having memorial day off yesterday. in many cases, golden gate bridge, a little foggy. there is certainly a stiff breeze from the west pushing that cool air in right now. all

right, john, thank you that. >> also today, david, path will be back in a federal courtroom to be re sentence. so this new hearing comes after judge in the case asked to pop if he wanted to address the court prior to being sentence overs. while thomas in the newsroom with a breakdown of what we can expect today morning, michael. hi, good morning, everyone. today sentencing is set to happen in just a few hours. in which case a federal judge will allow david de pap the chance to speak, which was not originally given. >> a few weeks ago now path was set. and was given the maximum prison sentence after being convicted of attempting to kidnap nancy pelosi in her san francisco home and for beating her husband, paul pelosi with a hammer in total. he would serve 30 years behind bars. but during that sentencing, the judge made the error when she failed to ask pap if he wanted to make a statement this morning, that air is set to be corrected in our legal experts say that the judge could shave time off of

administrative offices. >> a warehouse and then a large lumber yard outside full of for what? so it burned for several hours. michael hunt with the oakland fire department says crews initially struggled gaining access to the lumber yard and the surrounding area property. >> sits the border. the borders are railroad we could put all we can bring was hose lines on the railroad track put water on one side of the property and the high street also borders. it's getting up or out as into the property was a challenge. fire crews were out on the scene all day monday working with the owners to go through the property. >> for any additional hot spot excavation crews, the heavy equipment operators assistant picking apart the property and officially make sure that any flare ups are being quickly extinguished throughout the process. all of the parking structure that need to to be demolished last night. you know, there were several small rican goals which were
