now awaits his sentencing as sandra mitchell reports, trump is refusing to accept the guilty verdict valley to appeal and insisting the trial was raped. >> a defiant donald trump outside the manhattan courthouse just moments after a jury found him guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business documents. this is disgrace. go the verdict came after 2 days and almost 10 hours of deliberations. the jury found trump guilty for crimes to cover up an alleged affair with an adult film star. in the lead-up to the 2016 election manhattan district attorney alvin bragg pushing aside trump's accusations that the trial was politically motivated, saying the jurors follow the facts. in the case. we have a phenomenal system. >> 12 everyday new yorkers

fundraiser co-hosting the event are billionaire david sacks and his wife, jacqueline sachs is the ceo of the children's clothing line, safe haven. the event will be in pacific heights. and trump's arrival will come a day after vice president kamala harris visit san francisco. she set to attend a fundraiser wednesday. that man cafe is hosting the specific venue and time have not been revealed >> a large fire broke out at an egg farm in the north bay this afternoon. fortunately, the barn located just outside petaluma was empty when flames took over and no one was hurt. own force. sarah stinson reports. >> smoke from the fire here at the pedal loom egg farm could be seeing all the way down town, which had some worried about the chickens and the farm workers. well, i just turned the corner and there was this shot. it looks like a monster. thankfully, no chickens were inside. everyone is okay. >> that's good. that's really

a large plume of smoke could be seen coming from a farm in the unincorporated part of petaluma. i just saw dark clouds like that. >> okay. there's no rain in the forecast. not sure about that. and then the thing came over my phone and then i knew a barn caught fire at petaluma egg farm on kavanaugh, a lane just after 2. the sonoma county sheriff's office used a helicopter to assist multiple fire agencies on the ground, putting out the flames and making sure the fire didn't spread. but the wind made their job harder was pushing the smoke right now on top of the other bar. and so. >> creating an immediate exposure to catch those on fire as well as the grass and the homes across the across the way. and so when not in our favor and had we been about a month later than this, it would better tremendously different story. fire crews were able to contain the fire to the barn. a spokesperson for petaluma egg farm says. >> the barn was recently remodeled and wasn't being

used. yes, that's a really so everybody's okay. and it was just the bar at the structure itself and the chickens. a veteran coal bit the last couple >> so yeah, they need a break. >> fire crews remain here at the farm to investigate the cause of the fire. the family that runs pedal in egg farm is working with investigators trying to figure out if this was arson or an accident. i'm sara stinson reporting in petaluma kron. 4 news. >> alright, crews struggling to put out those flames due to winds tonight in the north bay. conference dave spahr has been tracking the winds of the temperatures. david is a hot one today to yeah, it was. and the air is also a little bit on the dry side that we've gotten from all of this as well. the latest wind profiles we have. here is a quick check in where we are. give your geography real quickly. here's petaluma. you can see a little 3 is and we're getting a little bit hectic. onshore wind, but not much the way of winds us all this about an hour ago. there were a lot of teens here. so the good news is the winds have died down a

little bit, which is pretty much what we expected all over. in fact, the north bay, the wind direction, not the greatest, but it's kind of variable is what we got going on for now. now, the wider perspective, everything that's going on here, we'll zoom out a little bit get a general idea here we're not moving. are we here? there we go wider perspective and you can see but he stands kind of ection. little windy in san francisco a little bit there from the northwest. the direction is there are some offshore winds kind of working a little pockets here. and there. but generally speaking, the onshore trend is going to continue. i did check on the moisture amounts that are up there in the north bay were locked, talking about dew points in the 40's. now at night, you tend to have the year not mixing as much. it tends to become a tense become raised. that's where you get a lot of dew point or do a lot to do on the ground in the morning hours. so it's going in our general direction, not a lot of winds will be nice and cool tonight and will also see some of those humidity levels start rise a grant and well, thank you, dave. new tonight had 10 the man arrested after an assault at a

vta station in the south bay is now facing. >> and attempted murder charge. investigators say andrew perez was wearing an armored vest when he attacked a man on the station platform. tonight, investigators have released some surveillance video of the assault. we do want to warn you the video may be disturbing to watch. this was at the vta children's discovery museum station. you can see perez. >> going up to the man with a bike and immediately start punching and kicking him. the assault continues for some time and you can they're closer vantage point. perez was wearing an armored vest. perez eventually ran off and barricaded himself inside his home before being arrested. the victim only identified as a 45 year-old man was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries, which included some deep cuts that required staples. >> former bay area college professor will spend more than 5 years in federal prison for arson after he was sentenced in february. gary maynard

pleaded guilty to 3 counts of arson. prosecutors say he set a series of fires in shasta-trinity national forest in 2021. while crews were battling the dixie fire. maynard taught criminology at sonoma state and santa clara university's. a jewelry store in the east bay is all boarded up tonight. newark police say at least a dozen people, rob, been the jewelers on newark mall road yesterday. the thieves shattered glass display cases and took off with a bunch of jewelry. no one was physically hurt during the robbery. police are asking anyone with info now to give them a call. tense moments in the east bay today as a call about explosives and a gunman at a high school forced a lockdown. police say multiple calls came in to cal high in san ramon this morning. >> informing staff there were explosive devices scattered on campus. the calls also mentioned someone coming to campus and opening fire

trained bomb sniffing dogs were brought onto the grounds and drones were flown above. the students were locked in their classrooms. >> a precaution. that is yeah. we have to like block out the door us all. the lights are turned off were all are not always the bathrooms. norm. now right? >> all the school shootings that have happened over the last couple yeah, that's what we always have. these lockdown drills as well. that's also also was a long happened. and then that's when find those and other serious. >> sad to say they were prepared and knew what to do in a situation like this. after a few hours, nothing was found. police plan to do an extensive investigation to try and track down who made that call. >> the san mateo county sheriff's office is set to move into its new digs here. brand new headquarters. they'll go in there monday and the community will be able to check it out as of monday as well. this is at 3.30, bradford street in downtown redwood city, right near highway 101. >> the newly named callie bunga south bay water park plans to open next month. it's

promising 23 acres of water attractions at the san jose location. that's long been known as raging waters. sacramento-based company took over the lease for that former earlier this year. they did not announce the exact date for a grand opening but said it would be in june and that tickets would be available soon. a sold-out brave set to take over the streets of san francisco this weekend. well, that dj skrillex and fred, again, are holding the outdoor concert saturday and kron four's. >> dan thorn joins us live in the studio with of the city is getting ready for this big event and pretty exciting. yeah. grant. if you're a fan of electronic dance music, this is the place that you would want to be. >> thousands are expected to crowd into civic center plaza for saturday's concert. skrillex actually announced the surprise show last week on access saying that he and fred again need to test out some new music and cruiser already setting up the stage. this is video from this afternoon. the performance is already sold out with more than 20,000 people expected to attend san

>> former president trump, they're blaming the biden administration after the jury in his hush money trial found him guilty on all 34 felony charges. trump's defense team says they will appeal, but sentencing has been set for early july. just minutes after the verdict came down, the biden harris campaign released a statement saying, quote, in new york today we saw no one is above the law. >> donald trump has always mistakenly believed he would never face consequences for breaking the law for his own personal gain. but today's verdict does not change the fact that the american people face a simple reality. there is still only one way to keep donald trump out of the oval office at the ballot convicted felon or not, trump will be the republican nominee for president. end quote. joining us now is the chair of the sonoma state university political science department. his name is professor. >> david mchugh in and david, you know, people have text chains, text threads all over this country. and the big

question i think is, does this matter not as you look ahead to november? >> all right. you want the real answer? you want the political answer? i'll take both was going to say we want the political science answer is like, look, all of these things being equal, they don't matter. but look, being a convicted felon is not good for your political career. and at the same time, donald trump and the gop are going to raise a lot of money over this and the next 24 to 48 hours. this is an inflection point. it's not 1968. it's not the resignation of i richard nixon 50 years ago this summer. it is, however, a tectonic shift in our politics and what how red and blue go at each other it's uncertain the impact of this on marginal voters, meeting voters, the purple people. we often talk about what that looks like and that those ends of the spectrum, if you will, of the middle of that and coloring that are really going to determine the next president of the united states. many of those people have indicated they wouldn't

vote for someone who's a convicted felon. but that's polling questions. we don't know how that will play out. and donald trump is someone who is going to appeal an appeal, an appeal. so the next couple of days and weeks, months are hugely critical. so you can't ignore the calendars. june 27th you can ignore july 11th and then that's that 4 days later. and you can't ignore next 158 days. but for donald trump and his people, the election doesn't end on november 5th, it continues. and that means that the fight is going to be joined. and that's why this is such a big moment in politics. huge moment. i think for all parties concerned. and voters called the middle there. you talk about the purple people, those who are, you know, not necessarily sure which way they're going vote. trump chose not to testify in this trial. and i'm curious, does that way? >> his supporters one way or another. >> yeah, i mean, this is something that red meat for his supporters. this is something that the right is going to embrace and they're going to raise a lot of money. they're going to be record as

a result of that. the biden team is is going softly for a gently into that for wind. but they're going to drop a contrast quite strongly. that leaves voters kind of in the middle, particularly those purple peter people and how to decide what to do moving forward. they'll tune for long periods of time and there are more inflection points and those inflection points might be a partially virtual convention in milwaukee because they want to major television event. democrats will do a similar thing because they don't want chicago. 1968. they want chicago 2024. so that pushes everybody back and that lack of engagement, that lack of involvement is what we call negative polarization, negative partisanship. i junk food politics. people consume and then they don't want they don't like how they feel afterwards. and that means that people will sit back and wait to the side until late. and that means we're in for a very close race. and what happens basically from halloween 2 november 5th is going to be hugely consequential. and there's a lot of road to go in our politics between now and that's

>> going to speak to in really quickly. what is your for the sentence, july 11th and what do you make of polling after the past decade when polls haven't been as accurate as they have in the past? yeah, that's a great questions. thank a suspended sentence would seem likely 78 years old. he doesn't have a criminal record. >> he is the former serving jail time scenes entirely unlikely. anything that involves still time or of a substantial sentence would be considered to be, quote, unquote, political. so you have to note that i think judge martians a done a very good job of being and donald trump when he stepped out, that's been a problem. so that's the kind of sentence i would look for in terms of polling. watch what happens not in the next 48 hours to a week, but what happens about a 10 days out and so forth because that's when added to kind of they set. we're not there yet. there's the immediate reaction, but where we had in those attitudes and in polling moving forward with voters who are likely voters,

400 million dollars sitting unspent and city hall today, he's referring to proposition c. >> that pass and is aimed at giving early child care and education services for children up to 5 years old for low income families. but due to legal challenges that tax revenue cannot be spent until april of 2021. furrell says he has a plan to help struggling families faster. >> we will offer subsidies to help low and middle income parents and guardians of 4 local child care services, ensuring accessibility across all income levels here in our city for child care. will raise wages for childcare workers to address the shortage of qualified professionals. >> he says parents spend an average of nearly $40,000 between infant and preschool, karen mount. and if he's elected as mayor, he promises to change that state reimbursements failed to cover the true costs of this care. exacerbating the financial strains on families here in san francisco. >> that are still trying in many cases to recover from the

covid-19 pandemic. and these early years are so critical. but mayor london breed's team says >> their of idea it's coming straight from her own child care. >> and early education platform and shared the following statement in a desperate attempt at relevance. mark farrell has been digging through the recycling bin outside mayor breed's office for his policy ideas and listed off what she says are her accomplishments, including that she doubled the number of children receiving early care and education subsidies. and we from 6,000 to 12,000 in just 5 years, adding that the also cut the waitlist for subsidized early care and education by 72% making real rally off whatever staff so they want right now. but the honest answer is. >> they have not use these funds and they are sitting there and san francisco lezla gooden kron. 4 news. >> and mayoral candidate daniel lurie stepped into this

>> the search is underway in palo alto tonight for the people who broke into 2 homes while the residents were inside the first break-in happened tuesday morning on seal avenue. police say woman in her 60's noticed her door been pried open from the outside she says she thinks the thief hurt her. and then ran off. officers say nothing was taken there, moved around in the home. the second one happened around 7 o'clock yesterday morning on palo alto avenue. police say here woman told them she heard the front door open and close and then her phone and wallet were gone. the victim says she went outside founder items on the sidewalk right near the house. police say the 2 break-ins do not appear to be connected. >> 3 deputies were injured in san carlos while arresting suspects who tried to steal a car. the alleged crime happened wednesday night in a parking lot outside of cbs on san carlos avenue. the victim

>> now at 10, 30 bay area, homeowners are losing their insurance coverage. a lot of them just getting drops like a bad breakup. and governor newsom is now struggling to get unanimous support to fix it. kron four's dan kerman reports. >> with homeowners across the bay area and the state being dropped by insurance companies mostly due to fire risk. >> the governor has proposed speeding up the review of insurance company rate hike requests to just 60 days. the time. >> is important in terms of the rate decision making and that's what we're promoting as short-term step and continue to promote the larger package in partnership with the insurance commissioner. this is an important element. >> of what needs to be a multi pronged fix so we can get back to doing business in california.

>> rex frazier's with the personal insurance federation of california, which represents large auto and home insurance companies in california. oftentimes it takes months and months before an insurance company even knows where it stands with the state. under this proposal, the state at 60 days and every 30 days thereafter they would have to declare where they stand on a rate filing that accountability. that's good for everyone. as the governor has proposed a plan that is not going to get homeowners access to more coverage and affordable price. but carmen bill burr with the group consumer watchdog thinks the proposal gives away too much. what the governor has proposed will tie the hands of the insurance commissioner and reviewing rate hikes and cut public participants out of the process. and that is guaranteed to lead to higher unjustified rates for california homeowners. now it'll be up to state legislators to decide whether to include the governor's insurance proposal as it stands or change. it. when approving this year's budget. dan kerman kron, 4 news.

>> meantime, nationwide says it's cutting about 100,000 pet insurance policies. the company citing inflation and the cost of veterinary care policies will be cut between this spring and next summer. it says affected policy holders will be notified in writing. >> a massive fire destroyed a public market in castro valley today. really sad here early this morning. flames engulf the lake chabot public market. it took crews hours to put this thing out. the roof of the building caved in everything inside was destroyed, including poke bowl business. we talked with the owner. >> like, i don't know. i saw text job. i don't know what to make it really happened. so i just like live >> come here.

now in the 70's. but 79 brentwood, pittsburgh at 74 chilly 60's now taking hold the east bay shoreline with a berkeley coming in at 57 61 san francisco in up north, mostly 60's hanging out there lows tonight. lots of 50's. 49 for half moon bay. 62, meanwhile, for antioch, the planner going then fog of fog. creeping back a little bit for tonight in some spots. want to go to future cast for here because when little kind of fly in the ointment want to point out here, it's not so much on friday. that's little bit of the fog that starts to kind of hit the coast a little bit. but it's more important on saturday morning along the east bay shoreline. we've got a good stiff wind going on there overnight. that may produce a little bit of drizzle for the early morning hours. but you get the set up for a couple of hours that mixes out. we're done and we're back in mostly sunny skies. so looks pretty good. some of this comes back again for saturday night. we have this system in our backyard. that's going to be a little bit of an agitator here as a prop south. just going drop our temperatures a little bit. it's worth it. it up because boy, temperatures will take a real rocket ship travel ocean

a bit. 66 san francisco to the coast will keep it in the 60's upper 50's at that 73 going on 4 burlingame in this pocket here. 75 for foster city, san carlos. 79. we've got 80's in the south bay, 86 san jose, east bay shoreline. lower 80's tried valley approaching 90 a couple 90's here. and there, but mostly upper 80's for now. 89 going on for concord, 69 berkeley, 71 for delay, 88 for fairfield. 82 going on for now up and 87 for santa rosa. 10 day forecast. let's check it out here. there's a little drop over the weekend. how nice cool 97. on wednesday. models are telling us maybe down to about 93 on thursday. well, don't count your chickens on that one because we may be sticking with well in the upper 90's even into thursday before this finally breaks heading into next weekend, grant and well.
